Part 18
Caitlin looked up and rubbed her eyes. She had just spent the last hour reading on what her roll as Queen of the Central Kingdom would include. It surprised her that it would be much more active then the one her mother had in the Snow Kingdom. Though Caitlin also knew other Queens did much more then what Carla did.
"You know these are only guidelines. You wouldn't have to do all of it." Said Nora
"I know. But I would like to work with some of the charities. Particularly the ones that involves children. I have done some of that back home."
"That won't be an issue. In fact if you like I could make arrangements for you to help out at the toy give away at the children's hospital next week."
"I would like that. At the holidays back home I always helped with the toy and clothes give away. My mother hated that I did that. But I felt that I was given so much and there are those that hardly have enough to eat. I should help them."
"As long as we feel that you are going to be safe we aren't going to prevent you from doing something you like doing."
"Thank you."
"Now why don't head out to the stables? I believe that your horse should have arrived by now."
"Frost is coming today? I didn't know that!"
"Go see your horse. I believe that young man that has been caring for her is the one that brought her."
"Well that is not too surprising seeing as she is not fond of most people. But part of that has to do with the fact that my father and I found her on a farm we visited and the farmer was abusing her and she was not fully grown yet at that time. My father was not happy and did something he rarely has done. Took all the animals from him and fined him. I was able to calm Frost long enough to get her back to the Royal stable so she was given to me."
"Well I am sure she is going to be happy to see you."
Caitlin smiled and headed out to the stable.
Jay looked over the report of the month long investigation into the staff of the palace. He shook his head and looked at his wife and daughter.
"Three known criminals some how got pass the screenings. They have been removed from their positions and looked into further to see if they revealed anything to our enemies." Said Jay
"Could one of them been responsible for letting that woman know when Princess Caitlin was going to be in the city?" asked Joan
"Mom, you do know that the maid assigned to Caitlin is friends with Iris West." Said Jesse
"After the attack she was questioned. She denied having spoken to Ms. West about the Princess. She in fact was upset that someone would try and harm the Princess." Said Jay
"I actually believe that. I think it was someone else that told that woman when Princess Caitlin would be in the city." Said Jesse
"I am leaning towards this one. The other two had no access to the inside of the palace." Said Joan
Jay took the file from his wife and looked it over. The woman was on the kitchen staff and had been off the day before the attack.
"I will have the head of the Royal Guard question Lisa Snart." Said Jay
"Dad if you find out that she was responsible for aiding in the attack what will happen to her?" asked Jesse
"If she is responsible then she will go to prison like any other criminal. Unless she knew for a fact that Ms. West was going to try and kill Caitlin." said Jay
"If she knew about the attempt on Caitlin's life?"
"Then she will face the same punishment as anyone else for that crime. Death." said Jay
Caitlin walked in the infirmary and smiled when she saw Eddie was awake and talking with Patty.
"So Lieutenant, how long are you going to be laid up?" asked Caitlin
"Just a couple of days Princess. Whatever it is you did to me. Helped to start healing me." said Eddie
"That is interesting. I knew that my powers could help me to heal. But I didn't know that it could work on anyone else. But I guess it makes some sense. But I never thought to try and heal someone else with my powers. I just knew that if I could slow down the blood flow that you would make it to a doctor." said Caitlin
"Especially since Prince Barry has the speed of the God Hermes." said Eddie
"True. Eddie I would appreciate it if you would not tell anyone what I can do. My powers are the reason I was kept mostly isolated as a child. Most people fear what they don't understand." said Caitlin
"Of course. You do know that my oath extends to you." said Eddie
"Ronnie told me. Now what is really going on with you and Patty?" asked Caitlin
"Nothing is going on Caitlin! I mean yeah we have spent time together and all. But there is nothing between us." said Patty
"Patty, I think that we should be honest. The truth is Princess is that Patty is the kind of woman that I could see as my wife. But I do need more time to really get to know her better." said Eddie
"I don't see why that would be a problem. I mean as long as I am here Patty is going to be. In fact when we return to my father's kingdom for my brother's wedding you and Eddie will most likely be going with us as our guards. I don't think that Zoom will be stopped by then." said Caitlin
"If I didn't know you as well as I do I would begin to think that you are trying to get rid of me." said Patty
"I have no idea what you are talking about. I just want to see my friend happy. You know that as one of the few people close to me that when you get behind my walls that I care a great deal about your happiness."
"I know Caitlin." said Patty
"Well now that I have seen for myself that you are going to recover Eddie, I am going to leave you two alone."
Caitlin headed out with a smile.
"She is not hiding that she hopes we end up together is she?" asked Eddie
"No she is not. Though I will admit I have never seen her like this before."
"Is that something we should worry about?"
"I am not sure. Though seeing Caitlin is a princess she is use to getting nearly everything she wants."
"And it seems she wants us to be together."
"Yes. though there are far worse men I could find myself with."
"Very true. Would you object to me giving a lovely lady such as yourself a kiss?"
"I don't see any harm in that."
Patty leaned closer to Eddie who gave her a soft kiss that made her feel something that she had never felt before.
