Part 30
Thomas watched as his only son paced nervously. In less than an hour Charlie would be a married man. He was proud of the man he had become. He was also proud of his daughter who would make a good and loving Queen once she was given the proper training. He knew Caitlin was going to learn a great deal from Nora. His wife never embraced the part about being compassionate. Fortunately Caitlin even with her sheltered childhood has. He never understood why Carla insisted on keeping Caitlin isolated. They had ways to suppress her gift until she gained control. He looked up when the door opened and Caitlin slipped in.
"Charlie, calm down. I know you are getting married today, but you have known Erin since you were in diapers." Said Caitlin
"Doesn't change the fact that I will be married and have more responsibilities."
"I don't think daddy is going to leave you hanging if he can help it. But you have also been preparing to become King since you were five years old."
"Caity is right son. I am not planning on dying or retiring for a while." Said Thomas
"Mother will not be happy if you retire." Said Charlie
"Your mother has no say in the matter."
"I know. I am a little worried that Zolomon is going to choose tonight to attack." Said Charlie
"It would be a good strategy. All of us and a good number of our most loyal allies will be in one place. Really the only ones not represented will be the Mountain Kingdom and Nana Parbet." Said Caitlin
"Technically we could count your guard Lieutenant Thawne as a representative of the Mountain Kingdom." Said Thomas
"Eddie has never been there and his father has lived in exile for nearly thirty years. Eddie's father left when he was seventeen and never went back." Said Caitlin
"I know. That is why I ordered Patty's father to give the young man a chance to prove he was not our enemy. Besides, you might not be alive if not for him."
"I should get back to Erin, before she decides to do something to hurt mother. Though if she doesn't stop complaining about the fact Erin changed the dresses she picked I might be tempted to freeze her mouth shut." Said Caitlin
"Erin, didn't like the dresses our mother picked out?" Asked Charlie
"Does this really look like something our mother would like for a formal event such as the wedding of the future king?" Asked Caitlin
Charlie took a good look at the dress his sister was wearing. It was a sleeveless A line dress with a fitted bodice and loose fitting skirt that came down to her mid calf. The dress was ice blue in color, the official color of the Royal Family of the Snow Kingdom. Her hair was pinned up on the sides with diamond and blue sapphire hair clips. She wore one of the many pairs of snowflake earrings she owned along with a snowflake pendant. One her feet were a pair of pumps that matched the dress. He had to admit he couldn't remember the last time his sister looked so beautiful.
"Caity, you look beautiful. Much better than pretty much anything mother picked for you." Said Charlie
"Thank you big brother. Mother hates that the bridesmaids are in sleeveless dresses and the skirt does not come to our feet." Said Caitlin
"You aren't going to tell me anything about Erin's dress are you?"
"It is white."
"Gee, that helps a lot." Said Charlie rolling his eyes.
Caitlin just smiled and headed to Erin's suite.
Zoom smiled from his hiding place. It would not be long before he and his men killed the Royals with the exception of Princess Caitlin and Lady Erin. If what he had been told is true and the future Queen already carried the heir he would need her alive at least until she gave birth. But it would be Caitlin that would become his wife and then he would rule with an iron fist and then move on to taking over the rest of the world. He would kill the Royals of the Central Kingdom next for their mistake of aligning themselves with the soon to be dead King of the Snow Kingdom.
"My Lord, when do we move in?" Asked Mardon
"Just after sundown. By then the idiot prince will have wed his slut bride."
"Why wait that long?"
"Because you idiot if our spy is right then it will make the child she is carrying inside of her a legitimate heir. I need that child just in case I fail at impregnating Caitlin. Which would be her fault of course."
"It is always the fault of the woman isn't it My Lord?"
"WHO ELSE COULD BE AT FAULT DUMBASS! It sure as hell wouldn't be mine."
"Very true. What are you going to do if you find that whore that was stolen from you?"
"Kill her unless she now carries my child. Then she will live until my son is born. If she is stupid enough to give me a girl then both die."
Erin resisted the urge to yell in a very un lady like way. She now fully understood why Caitlin had such a short temper when it came to her mother. Not that she hadn't been tested before. Taking a deep breath Erin spoke.
"Carla, this is my wedding. I do not care if you do not like my choices for the wedding. You had your wedding over twenty years ago. It is not my fault if what I want is so different from what you had. Nothing I have chosen is inappropriate for a Royal Wedding. I do not want to have four maids to help me if I need to relieve myself tonight. I do not want to risk tripping because of a train that is longer than I am tall. Or a veil that makes it so I can hardly see."
"You may be marrying my son, but you are not the Queen. I am and can still put a stop to this wedding unless you show me the respect that is my right."
"Mother, you will do no such thing. Dad is the one that chose Erin for Charlie when they were still in diapers. So only he can stop this wedding unless there is something that you know. Something that makes Erin an unworthy bride of the future king." Said Caitlin walking in her eyes glowing.
"Do not tell me what to do. Caitlin, you have never shown me any respect. I am your mother." Said Carla
"Why should I? I know the truth. You never wanted me and don't love me. Why don't you go get a drink or something? I need to speak to my sister in law alone." Said Caitlin
Carla glared at her daughter and left the room. Caitlin turned and smiled at Erin.
"So Erin, does my brother know he is going to be a dad?" Asked Caitlin
