"Amos, don't take the credit" Heather snorted "It was Flynn. I know it irritates you that Flynn knows more about vampires than you, but then he's got all those reference books with the experiences accumulated through the years, while what you know, you learned the hard way, and very painfully"
Amos grumbled, but accepted it.
"Yes, all I knew was that it was a strange kind of wolf, and that it had a peculiar smell. This I told Heather and Danny. It was Flynn who put the pieces together."

Flynn Eagleton was disturbed by what the Sheriff had told him, about a badly wounded woman being taken to the hospital by Amos. Was it possible that Amos was losing control? He had known about vampires that did, and some of them that had to be put down when they would not come out of it…. At least Amos had taken his victim to the hospital, so he had some control.
He managed to see the young woman and when he saw the extensive bandage he relaxed, Amos could get greedy in his hunger, but he would not inflict such a messy wound.. He knew how to puncture with the least fuss, and straight to the vein. This wound had torn flesh where there were no major vessels.
Amos had said a wild dog or wolf…
A werewolf. But why now where there was no full moon?
He had to interrogate Amos, and see if he could make senses of what happened.
When he got there, Amos was in his daytime trance, but he got to talk to Heather and Danny about what Amos had told them. And he got enough. Amos had wounded the beast.
"Did he say where?'
"He said that it was the left paw"
"So.. I need to find if anybody has a wound in the left arm or left leg."
"But it was wolf…"
"A wolf that is also a man. And if wounded in his wolf form will carry the wound in his human form."
"A werewolf?" Heather asked "But are they not confined to the full moon?"
"Generally. But there are exceptions. Go find a wounded man. I will look for him myself. When you find someone tell me."

Stuart Raft had to charm Leonore Grady. She evidently wanted to make sure of where his loyalties laid, and while he was still reeling from watching his brother die, he knew that he wanted to keep his job.
"I want people who are loyal to me."
"Which is how it should be."
"What about Miss Hoover?"
"She is your agent, and I assumed she was carrying out your instructions."
"Well, she did not."
"I am sorry to hear that. I never imagined…"
"And where do your loyalties lie?"
"To the business, and to their owners."
Leonore Grady accepted this. Also the courtly matter in which Raft talked pleased her. The fact that he was wounded and still kept to his job made her sympathize with him. She wished that Dinah had met him instead of that shyster lawyer… And maybe she could do something about it.
She left and Stuart could exhale with relief. He still had his job. HE tried not to think how Owen had died, and the man that had forced the change on him…. And then his memory went fuzzy as it always did when the change came on him.
The door opened again and Flynn Eagleaton came in.
"You will come with me, Mr. Raft." Eagleaton said, poining a gun at him. "Don't make me shoot you. And, for your information, these are silver bullets"
