Flynn turned to Amos "Sorry I did not tell you how it would go. But you are a civilian and not that good at dissembling. You had to be convincing that you were the only threat that Crandall had to worry about. If you kept checking on me to see where I was Crandall would have seen me coming."

Amos nodded, not caring too much about that. he was trying to awaken Wendy who did not respond.

"She will not wake. Crandall drained her too much of her knowledge of herself, and her vitality." Irina told him

"Can it be fixed"

"There is a way."

"Can you do it?"

"For a price. I want the cure that Heather Maddox gave to Owen Raft. I want to stop being a vampire and she has the answer."

Amos nodded. "All right. Just make her well."

"Swear it. For Oak and Ash. Three times."

"What? I am not fae.

"No, but if you swear it to a fae, if you are foresworn then the fae will extract payment." She looked calmly at him. "If I attack you and yours, I am foresworn. But if you are foresworn to me, then I can attack you as I please."

Amos thought for a moment about it, and caution dictated his next words.

"For Oak and Ash I swear that I and Heather Maddox will do all we can to undo what Crandall has done to you"

He repeated it twice more, to make sure that in the event of failure in spite of their efforts would not mean Irina's revenge. If Irina noted this she did not mind. It was enough to know that they would try, and she had more faith on Heather than Amos did.

Flynn had secured the unconscious Crandall and was extracting a similar oath on the will-of-the-wisp. For Oak and Ash, she was to forswear revenge on the humans for what one of them had done. Once Flynn made sure of it, he grabbed her head and twisted her neck until it broke.

"You killed her?" Amos asked, as she recognized the woman – someone who had fed him a few times.

"She was already dead. I merely released the will-of-the wisp."

Irina stood over Wendy. "It is very simple; I must reverse the flow from him to her. Get back what he took from her."

Amos was not sure about what he saw as Irina gestured and the air moved over Wendy. But he saw Wendy move, and open her eyes.

"She is free now"
