"You take Wendy away" Flynn said. "I will take care of everything here"

I did take Wendy. She was limp but beginning to regain consciousness. I wonder whether to take her home, to her father, or to the hospital. I decided that I'd first take her home and see how she fared. If she got better, she could get home without worrying her father. If she got worse, she would go to the hospital. Her heart began to beat normally and she began to stir in my arms.
By the time I got home, she was fully awake and asking questions. I answered them as best I could.

Wendy sat on the sofa while Danny brought her some herbal tea – his favorite. She looked at the tea for a while, thinking about what had happened, and what might have happened...
"Amos, I am sorry, but I do not want any more of it. It is too dangerous to be around you. Please do not ask me to do anything more for you." She thought about it for a moment "I mean, if you want blood, it is OK, but please no more involving me in your projects…not for a while, at least."

I was hurt but I understood. Anyway, once her life returned to normal, she might reconsider… I mean Frank was still in jail, her father still drank whatever money he made painting, and she would need money soon.
I left her alone, because I was hungry – I had not fed yet, and I did not want to be tempted by her, not after what she had gone through.
I found Flynn outside in his car, letting Irina out of it. I saw another figure slumped on the back seat

"Is Crandall alive?"
"Yes. Do not worry. We know how to handle sorcerers like him, and how to get them working for us."
"So, you are taking him..."
"Back to headquarters. Would you mind checking on Raft? I want to know his whole story."

Raft was still unchanged. He wanted me to release him but Flynn had said no, not until Crandall is a few miles away. He did not want Crandall getting hold of Raft, even at a distance, and using him to escape.

"Why don't you tell me your story? Yours and your brother's?"
