"This storyline has nothing to do with what we went through" Wendy complained after seeing the child actors talking to a ghost through a phone.
"It did. And did not" Amos countered. He was getting impatient as he had foregone feeding to attend the daily viewing. Not a smart move, he realized. Well, he could ask Beverly to help him out. "I remember it, and so does Heather. WE are the only ones who remember what happened then. And what didn't."
"Because you went back in time?"
"Yes, Me and Heather. Which means that we have memories that are not the same as the rest of you, and that's why we took some time catching up with what had really happened… Changing the past does that. Only those who did the change hold the original memories. And we need to share them."
"So what happened before you changed the past?'
"Yes." He turned to Beverly and asked in a soft voice. "Can you do it now?"
Beverly nodded and pulled up her sleeve. Amos bit into the wrist, musing how much his fictional counterpart tried to cover his condition and how it ate at him. Maybe it was those times when he was "cured". But really, if you feed on different people and are in mental contact with them, sooner or later most of the town know what you are and what you need. Then there is an agreement, They trusted they would not be hurt, and he trusted he would not go hungry.l And soon, when someone said "Amos Benchley is a vampire" the answer was "So, you noticed?"
He returned to the discussion. "Well, what past things we agree on?"
"How about Leonore being corrupted by those who promised to get her power back?"
"Yes, the tempters were different, but Leonore was receptive to either. She was accustomed to having her word be law, and was not happy when that longer worked."
"Professor Romney pulling Flynn away because he needed him somewhere else, leaving us alone to have the new problems?"
"Yes. Romeny said that Flynn was still on probation and that there were lessons he still had to learn. Maybe it was that he could not control his jealousy about Amos feeding from me. He saw it as something sexual,"
"Well, in a sense it is." Amos said "I have to make it pleasant, because if it is so, then the person does not struggle, and is quite willing to repeat the experience. Flynn noticed it."
"And Wendy trying to move away from the doings around Amos and make a living somehow easier..
"Yes. All those things happened to all of us, and it is in all our memories, even if the details are different."
"Well, now we go to what WE TWO remember."
