Hanging On The Edge-Ch 2
Penelope heard Derek before she saw him and when he stuck his head inside the door he smiled at her and said, "it's okay, stay as still as you can and I'll get you out", Penelope nodded her head yes several times before she stilled. As Derek slowly slid through the open window he said, "are you alright?", Penelope said, "my head hit the steering wheel when we flopped over and my ankle is stuck but other than that I'm fine".
Derek scooted closer to her and said, "does it hurt when you try to move your foot?", she bit down on her bottom lip and said, "yes, yes it does", Derek said, "I'm going to try to free your foot first okay?", Penelope said, "o o okkay" as she watched the handsome man slowly make his way to her trapped foot. He tried several different things and nothing seemed to free her ankle, he looked around the car and said, "mam", Penelope said, "please call me Penelope", he grinned and said, "okay Penelope, I'm Derek, it's nice to meet you. wellllll not under these circumstances anyway" causing the scared woman to smile for the first time in a while.
By the road the team had finally made it to the scene, they hopped out of their SIVs and made it over to one of the rescue team members and Hotch flashed his badge and filled him in on their connection to Penelope while they were trying to find out how the rescue was going. The younger man said, "our captain Derek is down there with her right now, it seems that her foot is caught and he's trying to get it loose" as they watched the footage from his helmet cam on the screen in front of them.
Inside the car Derek said, "alright I'm gonna try something sweetness and when I do I want you to try to move your foot for me", Penelope bit down on her lip and said, "just tell me when and I'll do it" causing Derek to smile before he turned his attention back to trying to once again free her foot. A sudden shift in the car caused Penelope to scream out Derek's name as the car slid even further down over the second embankment.
Once the car stopped moving Derek was able to remove her foot slowly, he then made it back up beside her and said, "can you wiggle for foot for me?", she wiggled her foot and moaned in pain causing Derek to gently caress her arm and tell her that he was going to get her out of the car and get her some help. Penelope watched as Derek wrapped a harness around her and then he attached her harness to his before looking up at the scared blonde in front of him.
When they were ready Derek said, "alright baby girl we're going to slowly and gently make our way out the window and then my friends that are waiting at the top of the mountain are going to pull us up". She felt her heart racing but she somehow managed to nod her head and nervously say, "o o o okay", they made their way across the car ever so slowly and as they were getting ready to go out the window the car slid once again.
Penelope screamed and threw her arms around Derek's neck, he smiled and wrapped his arms around her and said, "don't worry I won't let you get hurt", she looked into is dark eyes and knew that he meant every word he was saying to her. As she relaxed he said, "we're almost there, it won't be long now", she weakly smiled and about a minute later they were finally outside the car.
Derek said, "alright, now, pull us up now", just seconds after they cleared the car it moved again and slid down the mountain and out of sight, Derek wrapped his arms tighter around her and said, "hold on sweetness, hold on". She blew out a deep breath and wrapped her arms tighter around him and said, "will do angel fish, will do", he grinned and nodded his head as they then started making their way up the steep mountain to get her to the medics to get her the help she needed.
