Ben's pov
" Hey you." I heard a male voice say, getting me to look up from the TV I was watching the duel on. I turned my head looking around the room but couldn't see anyone.
" Yes you, also would you stop turning so much. I'm inside your head." The voice said. "Don't worry you're not crazy." It added seemingly as an afterthought.
" Who are you? Better yet why are you in my head?" I asked aloud trying to contain my rising panic. I'm going insane I thought, there is a voice inside my head that's talking to me.
" I already told you you are not going insane." The voice said in an annoyed tone. " To answer your questions though, my name is Riley Gates and I don't know how I wound up inside your head. The last thing I remember is being hit by a truck in my world."
" Your world?" I question, still mildly panicking.
"Yes, you're watching Yugi duel Kaiba but on a news channel. In my world Yugi and Kaiba are characters in an anime called Yu-Gi-Oh." Riley said.
" Really then tell me who wins the battle city tournament." I challenged Riley.
"Yugi or should I say the Pharaoh wins after Marik surrenders to him." Riley says, " the more important question is do you play Duel Monsters?"
" Why is that so important?" I question, " Also what do you mean Pharaoh?"
" Cause sometime in a few years Duel Monsters becomes the most important game on the planet, right now it's a very cool hobby but in a few years it'll become a way of life in this world." Riley started, " Seto Kaiba will open a school that teaches dueling called Duel academy and we need to attend it. Now as for the Pharaoh comment, Yugi's necklace contains the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh."
" Why do we need to attend this Duel academy?" I ask my mind whirling with the sudden influx of information.
" Well Duel academy becomes a sort of hotspot for the supernatural. Ultimately several threats to the world appear, along with various magical energies." Riley started in an entirely too calm manner.
" Threats to the world! Are you insane, why would you want to be there? I borderline shout at him.
" Yes threats to the entire world potentially ranging from world ending to flat out enslavement of the human race. I don't actually know too much since I didn't watch the show after the original ended. I would personally rather be there on the front lines to prevent said threats then be sitting here and having the world possibly end at any moment." Riley's voice sounded downright irritated now.
" Unfortunately you're making a lot of sense, if the world was going to end I would rather be there trying to stop it like a hero then sitting in my room unaware." I say resigned to the fact I would have to go and fight now that I knew of the danger.
" Don't worry where I come from I'm quite skilled at duel monsters, you focus on your studies and let me duel through you. Just like Yugi and the Pharaoh." Riley proposed.
" Besides Exodia I don't have any other cards, you'll have to build us a deck." I say resigning myself to this insane idea.
" About those Exodia cards." Riley began, " from what I remember they are either fake or have invisible ink on the back making them unplayable."
This news greatly disappointed me since I had grown somewhat attached to the Exodia cards due to the artwork, the idea of all the pieces combining to make a whole picture was a very neat one.
"So we have to start with nothing." I respond in a dejected manner.
Suddenly I got a feeling of cooperativeness as Riley spoke once more. " For what it's worth I'm sorry I ended up stuck in you. I know it can't be easy dealing with suddenly having another person in your head and while I can't do much about that I can promise to do everything within my limited power to make your life easier."
