So given I'd like to take some time to respond to a couple of reviews.

To salo3990- In regards to your first comment, thanks it's always nice to hear that. In regards to your second comment, funny you should bring that up.

To reapercrone- Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you think the story is cool.

To eseer- So originally that actually was the plan, but when trying to script duels it became difficult to balance out the deck either it would just get blown away or would complete Exodia too quickly so i scrapped the idea. I had a whole thing planned about BenRiley fighting Adrain Gekco both posessing Exodia.

Three weeks after the match with Joey.

Location: Kaiba Dome

After checking Ben in Jeff and I went up the stands so that we'd be able to watch the duels take place. Ben had become infatuated with duel monsters ever since he had seen the battle city finals on TV but it was quite a surprise to hear that he'd racked up enough wins at local tournaments to qualify for the youth regional championship. Though maybe in hindsight I shouldn't be surprised. Jeff and I both worked and were often busy, maybe that was why Ben sometimes looked at us like we were strangers or stiffened when we hugged him. But he was still our son and we'd support him, in fact we'd taken the day off to cheer him on.

" I hope he does well, he's so obsessed with this game I worry what a loss would do to him." Jeff said as we sat down.

" Yeah, sometimes I swear he spends more time at Kame Games than with us." I said as the first two duelists were led out. " Mr. Muto says Ben's very good and that he even impressed a pro player. So I'm sure he'll do fine."

" I suppose the grandfather of The King of Games would know what he's talking about." Jeff said the duel went on in the background neither of us paying much attention to it or what the duelists and announcer were saying.

" And he's done it Patrick Young advances to the next round." The announcer's voice sounded over the loud speaker as a bejeweled dragon wiped out one of duelist life points.

As the two duelists were led out of the arena Ben and another duelist who was announced as Dimitri were led in. Ben's opponent was dressed in a green shirt with a beetle on it wearing glasses that also had a beetle.

" It's Ben's turn we better pay attention." Jeff said we both turned to watch.

Ben walked up to the blue holo table and placed his deck on it. His opponent did the same thing over at the red table.

"Duel." Both Ben and Dimitri said as they drew their five cards after determining that Ben would go second.

" I'll start by summoning Petite Moth and equipping it with Cocoon of Evolution from my hand. Now I'll play the spell Cocoon of Ultra Evolution. This allows me to sacrifice my Petite Moth to summon my Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth. Isn't it beautiful?" Said Dimitri who was looking rather proud, before setting two cards and ending his turn.

" That Moth has a lot of attack points I wonder how Ben plans to deal with it ?" I asked Jeff in mild awe over how realistic the hologram of the moth looked.

" My turn." Ben said as he drew his card. Ben looked at his cards for a moment before grabbing one and setting it on the table. The place where Ben's card was set flipped and part of Dimitri's table flipped revealing a card. " In order to activate my Magical Contract Door, this allows me to add a Level seven or eight Drake monster to my hand. I'll take Nightmare Magician."

Ben searched his deck and took out a card revealing it to his opponent before adding it to his hand. Briefly he paused seemingly considering his options.

" Now I'll activate Dark World Dealings in order to force us to draw a card then discard a card." Ben declared, as both him and Dimitri drew and discarded a card. " I'll summon Wind-up Knight in attack mode and place two cards face down to end my turn."

" Well then it's my turn." Dimitri said as he drew a card. " I'll activate my facedown DNA Surgery, now I can turn all monsters on the field into beautiful insects and with my insect barrier magic card you can't attack with insect type monsters. Now attack my Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth."

" Once while it's on the field Wind-up Knight can negate an attack." Ben said as his knight's shield began to glow halting Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth.

" I end my turn not like it matters since you can't attack while my insect barrier is on the field." Dimitri declared seemingly confident.

" I'm worried Ben isn't in a great spot that Moth has way more attack points than his knight." I told Jeff who was looking down at Ben.

" Ben doesn't look worried though if anything he seems disappointed." Jeff responded as Ben drew his card.

" I'll switch Wind-up Knight to defense mode and set a monster in defense mode." Ben said ending his turn with a third face down.

" I don't know sweetie he looks annoyed to me." I said.

" Given your reputation I expected more." Dimitri taunted Ben.

" Please you've already lost, you just haven't realized it yet. Ben replied with a small smirk.

" My turn." Dimitri practically growled drawing a card and immediately playing it. " I summon my Cross Sword Beetle now whenever an insect I control attacks I'll inflict piercing damage. Now I think your knight's time is up. Attack Cross Sword Beetle."

Ben smiled as he flipped up one of his face downs. " You triggered my trap card Attack Guidence Armor. This will redirect your attack to Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth."

" What no !" Dimitri cried as his beetle was destroyed by his own moth.

Dimitri's Life points: 2,300

Ben's Life points: 4,000

"Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth attack his Wind-up Knight." Dimitri cried out. His moth shooting a purple acid beam at Ben.

" Reveal face down Magic Cylinder." Ben declared with a smirk on his face. As two cylinders appeared in front of him, the acid like beam went into one of the cylinders and disappeared. Seconds later it fired back out the other at Dimitri.

Dimitri's Life points: 0000

Ben's Life points: 4,000

" Wow." Jeff and I exclaimed together as Ben and Dimitri were led out of the arena. Ben appeared to be saying something to Dimitri but without the microphones over by the table we couldn't hear them.

" I thought Mr. Muto was exaggerating when he said Ben was good but he won without even attacking or taking damage." I said still in shock over how effortlessly Ben had defeated his opponent. All Jeff could do was nod.

Author's Note:

So yeah we get Ben's Mothers perspective. one of the things that always bothers me about this type of story is how when parents are actually in it they never seem to notice anything abnormal. So this was my way of trying to explain why Ben's parents might not realize that half of the time their son isn't in fact their son. They both care about him but are so busy they can't spend a lot of time with him.

Also Dimitri showed up imitating Weevil of all people, cause Weevil was a regional champion. While he did have an ok showing he ultimately got beat by Ben and Riley. The spell Ben/Riley gave Dimitri was Rebellion by the way just in case any of you were curious.

Next time: We get round two of Regionals.
