Author's Note:

So while I'm in the process of figuring out whose perspective Chapter 13 is going to be from( I've got three or four potential candidates) a small logistical issue has come up and to try and avoid confusion i was hoping that you readers would tell me what would make things easier. The next chapter will be from the POV of someone who doesn't know that Ben and Riley coexist in one body and will cover events where the two actively switch. So this presents an interesting problem of this character probably using the incorrect name for the person who's actively in control. They would obviously refer to Riley as Ben since Riley's existence isn't known even though Riley might be in control. So I'm unsure how to handle this in a way that isn't confusing. any thoughts.I could just have them say Ben but i don't want to cause confusion if Riley happens to be in control. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Reader response:

While I'm doing this Author's Note I figure I might as respond to XenoLucifer's comment. As the question is fair one and does warrant an answer and more importantly an explanation for that answer.

First off small correction Riley is the spirit, Ben is the host. Now as for will they naturally develop powers, the answer is probably not. Frankly while it would be cool for them to naturally develop powers I think it would be a kinda of character assassination. Part of what I think makes both them interesting is the fact that they don't have any powers or really anything special about them if you ignore the fact that there are two people in one body. I mean yeah they have some rare cards but so do a lot of characters. Maybe they're a little lucky but not really overwhelming so. I don't know if anyone has realized this yet or not but even their deck is designed with the idea that they don't believe they have any bs plot armor or mystical powers and are weaker than everyone else. That's why a lot of the cards they use are all about turning an opponent's power against them. The Metarions get powered up if the opponent is using a certain monster type, Nightmare Magician can take control of opposing monster to then use against the opponent, Rebellion/Bad Aim/Attack Guidence Armor all redirect opponents cards back at them in some way. You brought up Yami Yugi and I'm glad you did because there are some comparisons that can be made but Atem is intrinsically special in mystical way that Riley just isn't. Plus the Millennium Puzzle helped add to that, whereas Ben and Riley don't have that or really anything else other than some fancy cards, a vague idea of a possible future threat and each other. This isn't to say they won't ever get powers, maybe come the Society Of Light they might find a way to steal a power from someone else or siphon off some Gentle Darkness or Light of Destruction. I honestly only have most of season 1 planned since i need to rewatch season 2 before beginning to plan it out with the changes that will occur as a result of Ben and Riley's actions in season 1.

XenoLucifer I hope that I answered your question sufficiently and didn't come across as rude( I'm told I have a tendency to do so unintentionally). I'm grateful you took the time to read this and ask that question(reviews mean alot to me) and I hope that my answer here doesn't turn you off from the story
