When Niffty had awoken from her slumber landing right on her back, she knew something wasn't right. She swore she had fallen as her back was rather sore but she didn't know how or why she had fallen.
"Ugh…" Her head arched in pain, moaning in agony from the fall. She slowly regained her sight before noticing something wrong with the world around her. It was...not like Hell, the skies weren't red and there was no Pentagram. It was like Earth but different, different in a way she couldn't describe.
She then noticed that her hand had five digits on them which wouldn't have bothered her had she not remembered her demon form only had three digits. Her skin was also a warm color that was slightly yellow in color.
She gasped,"Am I...human?" She wasn't quite sure if she was 'human' but she was certain that she was no longer a demon. She quickly felt her hair, pulling out a strand of what turned out to be auburn hair. She wore a white kimono with red spots on it. She wore sandals with her hair tied in a bun and a flower at the front. Her face was covered with white makeup and a red blush and mascara .
'Oh my god...what happened to me? Wait...where's Al?' She then looked around, noticing that she was in an old alleyway. She heard panting and decided to investigate as the noises got louder, seeing a young man in his thirties on the ground, visibly worn out
She peered out from the wall, cautious to approach him. She wanted to help but she was a bit scared approaching someone who appeared to be exhausted, fearing she'd scare him by accident.
His skin was a mixed complexion with black hair that went to his neck length wise. He didn't appear to be wearing any shoes and she couldn't see his eyes or face for that matter. He wore a light and dark green robe with armbands and comfortable pants underneath and metal ankle bracelets. They were clearly low quality clothes and seemed like something a peasant would wear, having visible stitch marks and everything.
Debating what to do, her mind stirred with conflict. Before she could come to a decision, his panting stopped before he quietly whispered,"I know you're there…I know you are watching me…."
Her heart nearly skipped a beat, she hadn't even done anything to alert him of her presence. She hadn't made a sound yet he somehow managed to tell that she was there, that she was watching him.
She reluctantly came out from her hiding spot and approached him slowly. He still hadn't stood up from the ground and when she reached for his shoulder."Hey...are you alright? Can I see your face? I want to take a look at you…"
He looked up at her...or more accurately, at what direction she was in, relying more on the sound of her voice than where she was currently standing. Confused, Niffty decided to take a closer look at his face before gasping at the sight of his eyes .
His eyes were visibly glazed over with a foggy color that resembled that of , Niffty decided to wave her hand in his face to see if he could see and tensed when she recognized him.``Alastor...what happened to your eyes? Are...are you blind?"
He nodded his head.
"How is that possible? You weren't blind before! What happened to your eyesight?"
"I don't know. I just...woke up like this…"
"How did you know I was there then? You can't even see me and I didn't make any noise…"
"I may not be able to see you...but I can feel you…"
"What?"
"Through the earth...I can feel your presence. I can feel the vibrations through my body of your every move, even your heartbeat. I can still perceive the world around me...just not the way you do..."
"Can you stand up?"
"I...I think…" Al then attempted to stand up on his own, clearly not used to operating without his sight. He struggled and Niffty cringed as she watched him slowly rise before crumbling to his knees upon tripping after taking a step.
"Al!" She grabbed him,"Al, let me help you."
He shook his head,"I don't need it, darling. Please let go..."
"Yes you do, you can't even stand up properly. You need support, Al. You need to adjust to your surroundings and your knees are wobbly…"
Al bit his lip as Niffty helped him to his feet and supported him. Once Al got on his feet, Niffty grasped his hand and slowly let him walk, taking tiny steps so he could adjust to his surroundings. His knees wobbled with every step, his bare feet making contact with the ground, sensing the earth with every step…
"Al...how do you feel?"
"I feel...weak…"
"Do your legs hurt…"
"A little. The fall wasn't too kind to me but even ignoring that...I don't like having to rely on you to get around. I don't like relying on another person to hold my hand like I'm a child in need of guidance to cross the street.."
"Al, you're blind…"
"And? I can still be independent…"
"Not while you can barely stand and don't know how to get around. I'll let you walk when you regain your strength but until then you need to stay by my side…"
"Ugh...fine…" He groaned, the blind former overlord still irritated by his predicament. He clutched Niffty's hand gently, hating to have to rely on her to guide him.
Niffty lead Alastor around, leading him to a a more public place in the city where the streets were had people from all sorts of backgrounds. People wore different clothing from similar time periods but from different cultures.
Course, Alastor couldn't see the hustle and bustle of the city, only able to hear and feel the vibrations they gave off. He then whispered,"Niffty, what is this place? I...I can feel so many vibrations, it's so..overwhelming…"
Niffty tensed, she wasn't quite sure if Al feeling so many sensations was a good thing, especially given how populated this city was. It was fairly congested and packed and she didn't want Al to get overwhelmed by it all.
"Are you OK?"
"As OK as I can be given I lack my eyesight," He replied,"I may not be able to see but I can hear plenty. Can you give me details on what it looks like around me? I can't feel my surroundings like I used to and I feel different in my body...like I'm…"
"Alive?"
"Yes…"
"Well, that's because we are alive, Al. At least, I think we are. Though I'm not certain we're human either. We're not demons but we're not normal humans and this world isn't one either of us are familiar with…"
"It's a shame I can't see it for myself then. I always was fond of my human form, it's unfortunate I'm unable to see myself in the flesh, let alone this world that we've found ourselves in..."
"Don't worry, Al. We'll get your vision back...somehow…"
"I wouldn't count on it," He replied.
Niffty made a face as Alastor fell quiet. The loss of his vision must've decreased Alastor's interest in talking as he hadn't said a word for five minutes straight, holding onto her hand and clutching it but ultimately making no other reactions.
Even his face had had a more neutral expression, lacking his ever-present smile and deep in thought.
"Hun, this is very bad. Very, very bad…" Vaggie said, pinching the bridge of her nose,"Not only are we stuck in an entirely different world but the time period is completely different from the one we are familiar with."
"Its not that bad, Vaggie…"
"Charlie, we're literally trapped in a medieval timeline where other versions of us existed years prior. Your other self literally ran away a century ago, do you know what that means?"
"What?"
"Charlie, if anyone sees through your disguise they might try and get Lucifer and Lilith on us. And since you're not a demon anymore you don't have any powers to defend yourself if they catch you. They might think you are their version of Charlie and take you forever…"
"Nobody is gonna take me, Vag. It's gonna be fine…"
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, Charlie. We barely know anything about this place, we still need to be careful…" Vaggie said.
"It's gonna be fine, Vag. Trust me, we're gonna be OK…" She assured before frowning,"Still, now that we're on our own...we're gonna need money since everything I had packed didn't fall with us…"
"Maybe we should check if there are any places open. There has to be something open…"
"Oooh! Look!" Charlie pointed at a bar,"Bars are always in need of employees! They should be hiring! We'll be able to get money that way!"
"I don't know about this Hun...you know how sketchy bars can be…"
"Relax, Vag. We're gonna be fine, trust me…" She promised before meeting her friend to follow. Vaggie sighed before tagging along with Charlie inside the bar.
When they got inside, the bar was what you expected. Prostitutes, drinks, shady characters, nothing that they hadn't seen before.
All standard stuff in Hell and neither girls seemed taken aback by the scenery, Charlie having been to her fair share of the hottest clubs in Hell during her lifetime(mainly because Seviathan liked public events and took her to them while they were dating).
Vaggie sent a glare at any of the men eyeing her, backing away when they realized that she was an 'elemental'. Charlie wasn't paid too much mind in comparison and was able to slide right on through to the front and approach the bar.
A tall muscular man with light brown skin and messy cyan hair that went to his neck. He had glowing green eyes and a navy blue vest and red cuff-links and pants, a tap-hat with red and white feathers. His suit exposed some of his collarbone and a green necklace on his eyes. His earrings had two demonic looking faces on them with evil green smiles, one appearing to be a ram and the other was a bull.
Charlie approached him and asked in her 'masculine' voice,"Hello, excuse me sir but me and my friend Vaggie were wondering if you were hiring?"
He grinned, a grin far too wide for Charlie and Veggies comfort,"Well now that you mention it, Ozzie's has been needing some new workers and a handsome fellow such as yourself would be a perfect fit, especially with that sexy side piece of yours…"
"I'm not anyone's side piece…" Vaggie growled angrily, her fist clenching as she wanted nothing more than to have her spear so she could murder him with her bare hands."
"Yeah, Vaggie is just my friend," Charlie said, arm leaning on the counter,"By the way, my name is Charles but you may call me Charlie for simplicity's sake."
"Pleasure to meet you, Charles, my name is Asmodeus. Welcome to Ozzie's, it'll be a pleasure to have you two on board…" He exclaimed, a malicious grin growing on his face,"Forever…"
Vaggie tensed at the malicious gleam in his eyes, tugging on Charlie's sleeve,"Hun, I don't trust him…."
"I know, but we need money and regardless of the version, I know Asmodeus at least pays well so we should be fine here. Just go along with it. We need food and shelter and it's risky out there. It's better here than outside on the streets."
Vaggie swallowed her saliva before giving in to her friend's suggestion,"Alright then. Fine...Have it your way, Hun…"
Asmodeus chuckled to himself, he could always use fresh workers for running Ozzie's and these two looked like perfect meat. Good lookers too and he always loved the fiery women, he was always drawn to them and now that he had two new opportunities on board he could finally get something going.
"Follow me then, I've got a place for you two to stay at. You'll be nice and comfortable with me…"
'This bastard is definitely planning something...Don't like this pervert's wandering eyes, we need to get away from him asp…' Vaggie thought to herself as she and Charlie followed behind him.
Vox and Velvet helped themselves to the food at the farm's cellar. The family had a hefty supply of goods and they ate all they could fit in their stomachs. Given the family just had a harvest, they had an array of food to choose from and ate as much as they could.
Still, they were curious about the family farm, Vox opting to search for anything of value with Velvet. They had gone into the family homes, going into their rooms and searching for anything of value, snagging money and personal items that would be worth money if sold.
Soon they went into the basement cellar to satisfy their curiosity. Inside they found seeds for the crops stored in large potato sacks. At first, nothing out of the ordinary was found but when Vox noticed one of the bags smelled...off he had decided to open it.
Vox had a heart attack when he saw a bag of bloody body parts that had been chopped up with some sort of cleaver. The body wasn't any older than a few days and Vox could still see the decaying face of the person inside.
When he found it, Velvet had wondered why he had gone silent until she saw the bloody sight.
Needless to say, Vox and Velvet quickly took their bearings and left the area as fast as they could, not daring to turn back until they got far enough away to distance themselves from the barn.
"Alright," Vox sighed,"I think we've got far enough away from that creepy farm. Those farmers were a bunch of lunatics, hope we don't run into them again…"
"Neither do I," Vel admitted,"Though I think your lightning scared them off. I don't think they'll be coming back to bother us anymore…"
"Good riddance, the last thing I want to see is those deranged bastards running around with their guns and pitchforks. Had I not scared them off we would've ended up like that guy in the body bag. Who knows how many bastards they've killed and tossed in the cellar to hide until they can throw them out without suspicion."
"Yeah...still, do you think I can do that?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know...like I have powers?"
"If you do have powers they aren't like mine," He admitted,"Honestly, your powers could be anything Velvet. We'll just have to find out. Right now we should avoid attracting any more attention. Best thing we can do is just keep our heads down and see where we are because it doesn't seem like we even know where we are or why we are here…"
Vox then pulled up his hood to remain inconspicuous while walking through the city. They tried to pinpoint their location but nobody they went up to was willing to give them the time of day. Frustrated, Vox growled,"For fuck's sake, everyone around here is useless! Can't even answer a simple goddamn question! Useless bastards!"
"It's OK, Vox, we'll find a way through this...somehow…"
"I'm not too certain about that…" He grumbled.
"Hey Vox?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I buy something over there?" She asked, pointing at a shop,"They're selling those fans and it's kind of hot out. Do you mind if I go over there and get one?"
"Fine by me. Just be sure to come back and yell if you need anything. I'll be right out here…"
"Alright then…"
Velvet then took off to the store and Vox sighed.
'Whelp...guess it's just me now...alone...again…' He shook his head,'Vark is probably miserable without me. Hope he doesn't think I abandoned him. I don't know what or where this place is, but I know I'm not too fond of it. Something isn't right and I need to get out of here..if only I knew how to do so…'
He growled to himself, normally he'd grab a cigarette but he remembered he didn't have any and he'd have to go out of his way to find one. Wasn't like he didn't have the money, he had raided that family of their savings but he didn't know where he was or where to get it…
'Dammit...of all times I need a cigarette I can't get one...fucking perfect…'
Just then, Vox noticed a strange smell in the air. He hadn't had a nose in several decades so when the smell entered his nostrils, his mind felt numb. The fumes were...enticing and were burning their way into his nose, his mind hazy.
He turned to locate the source and noticed a tall Hispanic male standing next to him. He was at least 7ft 8inches in height and was lanky and lean. He had light purple hair and dark magenta eyes, wearing a red and white fur coat with heels.
Vox tensed for a moment, recognizing the attire a mile away,'Oh fuck...it's Val...or at least, another version of him. Maybe if I ignore him….he'll go away. He's probably just smoking next to me for kicks...yeah...think of it like that, Vincent…'
As Vox tried to take his mind off his current situation, Valentino suddenly opened his mouth and said in a husky yet velvety smooth voice,"Vincent, I know it's you under that hood. You can't hide from me, baby…"
'Oh shit…'
Vox didn't move, freezing up in terror. Val was inching closer to him and he could practically feel his eyes on him.
"Gotta say, I can't say I ever expected you to come back. You went out and ditched me along with Vanessa well over a century ago. You had a lot of nerve, didn't even have the gall to say goodbye, you just up and left. Must've thought it was funny, didn't ya?"
Vox blanked, he had no idea what Val was talking about, let alone why he was addressing him by his real name."W-What?"
"Don't play dumb, Vincent. Don't you remember when you stormed out and left me like an ungrateful bastard and dragged Vanessa along for the ride? You left me all alone for an entire century just because you couldn't handle me and you've finally come out of your hiding place."
".I don't know what you're talking about…"
"Don't lie to me, babe. You know what I'm talking about. You got all pissy over me missing a date and you decided to leave and never come back. Has the loneliness finally got to you, Vinci? You miss good ole Val and finally decided to come back to me, baby?
Vox narrowed his eyes,"Val...I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't even recall doing what you're saying. You've got the wrong person. I "
"Oh, I see, Vinci, you lost some of your memories from the past century? Is that why you don't recall our little disagreement?"
Vox decided to nod despite it being a lie, figuring it might get Val off his ass sooner if he believed he had amnesia and didn't just bail on him so Val didn't get aggressive on him.
"Hm...Figured as much. No wonder you didn't seem to recognize me, you must've done something stupid and hit your head. Oh well, I'm certain we can get back to where we started with a little work and elbow grease…"
"Uh…" He stumbled,"As nice as that is, I'm not interested in a relationship-"
"Why? Do you not love me, Vincent? You've left me for years without goodbye and when you finally come back you refuse to put your foot forward? Come on, quit being a stiff, baby. Can't you see that I still love you?" Val then grabbed his hand,"Vincent, I know you love me...I can see it. We're meant to be together, baby. You know you need me…"
Vox scowled, turning away and trying to push Val away,"I...I don't need anyone…"
"We both know that's a lie…" Val cooed before pulling him close,"Come on baby, come back to me...You know you want to…"
The former TV Demon cringed, Val's smoke was starting to...affect him a lot more than he wanted to admit. It was like poison and it was as toxic as Val was as a person, fucker had full control of it and was choosing to shove those addicting chemicals right in his face. He wouldn't be surprised if there was literal poison in the damn cigarette either...
It was taking all of Vox's self control to not shove Val aside and wanted to tell him to fuck off and leave….
At least until he remembered that he didn't have a place to stay and Val did. He wasn't certain where he and Velvet would continue to get the funds to support themselves and were practically homeless for all intents and purposes…
All in all, the best option was probably to go with the flow and stay with Val until they could get a grasp of where they were and what to do from there…
Reluctantly, Vox turned his head toward Val, who eagerly saw him looking at him as consent and kissed him. Vox resisted the urge to bite Val's tongue as it forcibly entered his throat, feeling the taller man's hands on his body.
And you know what he did? He hit Vox's fucking gag reflex by sticking his damn tongue in without a care in the world.
He then shocked Val, not enough to hurt him but enough to send the message to stop, allowing Vox a chance to breathe."What was that for, Vincent!? Why did you shock me?"
The younger man hissed"I need to breathe, jackass. I can't breathe with your damn tongue in my throat. And quit being so fucking handsy, I'm not your whore…"
"Whore, boyfriend, what's the difference?" He shrugged dismissively, unaware of Vox's twitching eye,"By the way, where is Vanessa? Don't tell me she's got amnesia too now, does she?"
"Uh…"
"I'll take that as yes…" Val sighed,"Honestly, you two are making this so much harder than it has to be…"
Just then, Velvet walked over with her new fan in hand,"Guess what I just bought? Don't I look fantastic Vo-eh?" Her face fell when she saw Vox with Val, her jaw dropping for a moment. A tinge of fear developed in her system when Vox and Val directed their gaze at her, Vox's eyes quickly draining to the side out of shame while Val grinned.
"Hello there, babydoll...did ya miss your Daddy? I know I did….come on...it's about time you come home. Daddy has missed you too much and you've missed out on so many things, it's about time we made up for all the time that passed in your absence. Let's go home…"
Despite the 'sweet' way Val said, it was clear that it was a demand and not a request. Both Vox and Velvet looked at each other nervously, Velvet giving her friend a fearful look.
"I know…" He whispered,"But we need a place to stay. This ain't the world we know Vel, we gotta take our chances with what we got. Val thinks we're the ones from this timeline, if we can keep up the act we might be able to find a way out of this..."
"But are you sure about this? You don't look happy to see Val again…"
"Are you?"
"..."
She gave no response, merely putting up her fan to hide her face. Vox sighed before ultimately motioning for her to follow them, Val leading them to a carriage powered by what appeared to be unicorns and hopped inside the cart.
As they took a seat, Val had his hand on Vox's thigh, smiling when he saw the shorter man flinch at his touch. He had missed seeing Vincent squirm and to have him back under his heel felt so gratifying….
