Journal Entry #30
Day thirty….still not used to writing journals. Diaries were always considered things for losers to me but given I don't have my phone to take notes this is my best option. Not to mention it's a way to keep track of my thoughts in an organized way.
So far, things have been going to plan. Vox's reluctance has melted away and he seems a lot more relaxed around me. He's not lashing out like he did in our first encounters and he's a lot more talkative.
We've talked a lot…well, not really, it's mainly him talking and Seviathan translating for me while sometimes interjecting his own thoughts into the conversation. Being mute is quite the pain and we'd probably know each other better if I was able to speak on my own.
Regardless, it's not all bad. Seviathan and I have managed to teach him sign language so he is able to communicate with me on his own without aid. He's not perfect by any means but he caught on a lot faster than I expected. Other than being a bit slow and messing up a few words he still has done quite well.
He's told me quite a lot about his life. Talked about Valentino. Talked about his wife. 'Lenore' was her name if I recall correctly.
I've been taking notes on the things he's told me.
To summarize, Vox is physically strong but his mind isn't. He may be able to strike fear into others with his intimidating demeanor and power. His lighting may be able to cause storms of great power but underneath all that power and prestige is just a broken man with a glass heart.
It's pathetic how easily he can trust. How he thinks that just maybe, he has a chance at 'love' again.
It's almost pitiful. I (almost) pity that poor fool, thinking that someone could ever and would ever love such miserable cretin like himself.
Love is fools who are just begging their bleeding hearts to be crushed into itty bitty pieces. Because if there is one truth that my Mother taught me, it's that every fool in Hell is a fool desperate for affection and many are eager to claim my heart.
About the only useful thing that old hag ever said to me was,"All men are tools and it's up to you to use them for all their worth with whatever means necessary. Just never allow them to use you. Because I wouldn't want it to be known that I spawned a weakling.
And many have tried to court me, to try and be the one who can 'change' me. Some dared think I'd actually marry them…
What a joke. I always felt good crushing their hearts afterwards, seeing the pure utter dejection in their eyes always brought a smile on my face.
Love is a fool's game and there were many…many foolish men out there. All it takes is a few laced words and kind smiles and they'll fall to your knees without batting an eye.
Still, men weren't without their uses. Some of them provided a good night of that though, they got boring and I disposed of them once they outlived their usefulness and kicked them to the curb after shattering their hearts in the process…
Vox is my target of interest because of how pathetic and broken he is. He has so many weaknesses to exploit from within and I'll take my time pulling him apart piece by piece. I'll make it look like I love him, make him think that I'm the one who he can trust, who he can rely on…just to pull the rug out from under him and reveal how little I care for him.
Compassion…love…kindness…all emotions for the weak.
Charlie can bask in the weakness all she wants because one day, she'll learn that this world has no place for a bleeding heart. If anyone is being nice to you, it's for their own benefit and they'll stab you right in the back the moment you start convincing them.
Not like there's anything wrong with that, as long as you're the person doing the backstabbing. Stab them before they stab you is an unspoken rule in Hell and it's one to follow if you don't want to be easy pickings on the street.
This world has no place for mercy or sentimentality. My heart only cares for one person and that person is me. That's the way it's always been and the way it always will be.
I await to see him on the surface soon..wonder what else he'll tell me. Because every man has a weakness and Vox has plenty that I can exploit and more…
Helsa finished her journal entry before tucking her journal under her bed before heading out to find Seviathan so they could head to the surface, leaving the door open in her rush.
After they had left, Frederick noticed the door to Helsa's door was ajar. Normally he wouldn't care but he did wonder why it was left open…
'Hmm…what's this door doing open? Did Helsa forget to close her door?' He rolled his eyes,'Incompetent child..' He decided to enter the room and was taken aback by the cold."Gah! Did that girl just allow her powers to go haywire while she was in here? This entire room is coated with ice! Where'd she even go anyway?"
He looked around and saw that Helsa wasn't there. He then tried to call for Seviathan before realizing that he wasn't there either. It appeared the two twins had since left before he had even got there….
'Annoying children…can't even bother to listen to their elders…' He growled,'Whatever. I don't need them. I can surely find things on my own…After all, there's got to be something in this room that would give me a clue where they are…'
He began searching around, checking under the bed and through the closet. He was going to give up until he noticed something underneath the pillow, narrowing his eyes in suspicion,"What is that?"
He pulled out the book, raising an eyebrow at the sight of what appeared to be a journal. A personal one at that. Curious, The King of Envy opened the book before reading all of the pages.
'Helsa…she's been going to the surface with Seviathan to…to hang out with a human!?' Disgust filled his eyes as rage entered his veins. It was an offense for his daughter, the Princess of the Seas to mingle with a mere human for her own entertainment. To think she would sneak off to the surface just to toy around with this 'Vox' character(no seriously what type of name was that?
"This is what she's been doing for over a month…how disappointing…." He shook his head with disapproval."To think that this is what those two are doing, sneaking off to fool around with surface dwellers like a bunch of children…"
Disappointment covered his face as he bared his teeth.
Fredrick was beyond fuming, his children were wasting time with a land animal and were fooling around for the fun of it. He couldn't care less if Helsa was playing with the man's feelings or not, he considered it a waste of time and the fact she considered this 'Vox' more important than staying within their realm and serving her part as a Princess.
She and Seviathan were supposed to stay in the Palace and look 'pretty',not mess around with surface dwellers. It was disgraceful, an insult to their lineage and he was disgusted by their rebellious nature. They run away from one thing but mingling with surface dwellers and feigning affection towards one of their kind, much less a commoner.
The part that he was most offended by was that Helsa was interested in a man who wasn't even of royal blood. This 'Vox' was a commoner, someone with no true significance in the hierarchy. Pretty much anyone who wasn't a Prince was a commoner to them and it was offensive she was pursuing him.
What Fredrick really feared was anyone finding out about their 'relationship' and thinking that it was genuine. He couldn't take that sort of risk to his reputation and those damn kids were going to cost him just because they wanted to have their fun without any regard for how it would affect their position in the hierarchy. No doubt Lucifer or the other Sins would be spreading gossip if they caught wind of this and for the sake of his and Bethesda's reputation, it would have to be put to a stop and fairly soon…
He narrowed his eyes before heading to talk with his wife, walking up to Bethesda and pulling her aside, speaking about the contents of the diary he had discovered. Bethesda's eyebrows furrowed with disappointment and slight anger before asking,"What should we do about them now? Not only are they disobeying our rule to not leave the palace without an escort but Helsa has the nerve to start a relationship with a peasant. She'll soil our family name at this rate, we have to do something about this before it leaks out to the public."
"And we shall," He assured,"Those no good brats think they can disobey us without punishment. We need to show those little brats what for before any of this gets out. If word gets out that Helsa is fooling around with a commoner we'll be a laughing stock for centuries. We have to put a stop to this before they ruin our pristine reputation. But what should we do?"
Bethesda paused to think for a moment before an idea hit her, a scheming snake-like smirk crawled on her face,"Oh I have an idea…" She then leaned in before whispering a devious scheme into her husband's ear.
"Oh…OH…Are you certain about that idea, my Love? That sounds a bit..extreme…"
"Do you want to protect our reputation or what?"
"Fair enough..Though we should probably tell Mammon first before we do that. I doubt he'd just appreciate being saddled with such a task without a heads up…"
"Considering the questionable actors he hires I'm certain he can handle those two. I'm certain they'll learn once they are punished for their crime. After all, parents must discipline their children and if they refuse to act they must suffer the consequences…"
"So should we pay a visit to the surface?"
"Of course. It won't be much of a problem, not after Belphegor helped us out in granting us the ability to shapeshift legs after all…"
Fredrick cringed, recalling the memories of getting their legs. The Sloth Demon had…done many attempts to give them legs and it was a very tedious 't help that Belphegor was a bit…kooky and his experiments were one of the few things that could get his blood pumping with excitement and curiosity. He was eager to use anyone(even those who were supposed to be his friends) as test subjects and Fredrick was outright relieved the moment Belphegor finally got the final experiment right.
Course this wasn't his standard procedure. Anyone who wasn't a personal friend didn't receive as…merciful treatment. Belphegor loved to test the limits of the body and how much damage he could inflict on a person.
Whether the test subject lived or died wasn't much of a concern to him, all that mattered was that his curiosity was satisfied and if it wasn't(it never was) he found another subject who would keep his interest. If an unlucky soul happened to become his favorite, he'd spend all his time on them and see what he could put them through, mutilating their body and relishing in their screams for mercy or even death if it was that unbearable…
Suffice to say, Frederick was grateful that Belphegor considered them good friends and while there were a few screw-ups, he didn't try intentionally harming them while giving them their legs.
"What are we waiting for? Why don't we pay our dear friend, Mammon a visit?" She said this while tugging on his arm, a wicked smile taking over her face completely.
"Let's…"
The two monarchs then headed off to the surface in pursuit of their own goals, malicious thoughts clouding their judgment.
Husk groaned as he felt his bones ache. The damn circus wasn't good on his bones and the amount of activity required to keep up with the crowd wasn't doing him any favors.
He wasn't a fan of physical activity at his age and having to run around and do tricks for the audience's amusement wasn't high on his bucket list. Hours of performing was still something he hadn't gotten used to despite being there for several months.
The routine is exhausting and he could feel his bones crying out in agony with every movement, forcing himself to tread on forward.
"I'm not being paid enough for this shit…" He grumbled,"Not to mention Mammon is forcing me to be sober because 'it'll affect my performance' otherwise," He growled, putting his fingers up in quotations mockingly.
Honestly Husk don't give a damn if it affected his performance, he needed a goddamn beer and Mammon wasn't letting him have his feel, at least, not as much as he would've liked. The bastard was only giving him a few bottles over a spaced out period of time. If he wanted it to last he'd have to converse by drinking tiny sips and hope that Mammon would give him more at a later date.
If there was anything Husk hated more than being sober, it was doing tricks while being sober and he was going to have a word with Mammon about his dissatisfaction.
He recalled the way to Mammon's building, fucker lived a fair bit away from the Circus(because of course he did) and while it did take time on foot, Husk saw no real other option given his wings were gone.
'One of the few things I miss about my shitty demon form was the ability to fly…' Not like he used it much, he was too lazy to fly half the time but what he would've killed for to have them when it came to traveling long distances.
Thankfully Mammon's building was just up ahead. He approached the front door and the guards seemed to recognize him as one said,"Oh look, it's one of Mammon's little entertainers. Wonder what he's doing here? Think he's here to ask the boss for spare change?"
"Yeah, he does look like a beggar…"
Had Husk not been exhausted he would've torn them a new one for calling him a beggar. Instead, he roughly shoved them aside and hissed,"Outta my way, assholes. Not in the mood for your shit."
After pushing past the guards, Husk made his way to the top of the building in order to reach Mammon's he knew anything about that greedy bastard he'd no doubt be indulging himself with dinner that could feed an entire family of people ten times over…
As he got closer, he couldn't help but hear there was some sort of conversation going he wouldn't give a fuck either way but he was a bit curious and he figured a little eavesdropping wouldn't hurt…
He then peered his head out, just enough to where he could see but not enough to where anyone would be able to notice him and listened closely.
From what he could tell, Mammon was talking with a man and a woman and he couldn't recognize either of their voices. Perhaps it was a meeting with a business partner but he still felt inclined to stick around until the conversation was finished.
"Are you certain of that, Bethesda?" He could hear Mammon ask.
"Of course I'm certain. Both Fredrick and I agree that this is a necessary action. Besides, I'm certain you could use a new circus attraction and you do seem to be lacking aquatic entertainment…"
"Hmm…you are right…Though are you sure that your kids would be a good pick for this? They don't seem like they have any sort of experience in the entertainment field…"
"Trust me, they'll be fine," Fredrick assured,"Besides, our spawn has become quite an inconvenience. Taking them off our hands would be a great favor and we'll both benefit from this arrangement…"
"Hmm…Well I can't say no to that…Though I'll need to order a tank for them given they aren't able to walk on land like you two are…"
Bethesda then scoffed,"Those two didn't stay long enough for us to arrange a meeting with Belphegor to have surgery. Not like it matters where they'll be going. I'm certain a few years in the circus will teach them to not disobey us. Helsa should know better than to soil our name by mingling with a common person though I suppose she cares not for our rules meaning we'll have to force our hands and discipline those two for their actions."
Husk tensed, this topic having taken a far darker turn than he had originally thought. He was not unfamiliar with dark topics but to hear someone speak of their kids like that…it was disgusting and a part of him felt nothing but contempt and rage, just barely able to hold himself back from revealing his position.
"It won't take long to get the tank will it?"
"Of course not, I've got plenty of resources to spare, it won't take much to get a tank big enough to fit those those little rascals,"Mammon chuckled before taking a sip of his wine,"Those children of yours will provide perfect entertainment once I get my claws on them. I know just how to use them to spice up the show, don't you worry…"
"So it's a deal?"
"Of course,"Mammon then clasped Fredrick's hand and shook it,both men having large malicious smiles on their faces. Bethesda watched this with a wicked gleam in her eye before narrowing her eyes and saying,
"Mammon…there appears to be someone watching us…You didn't say you had any servants here…"
"I didn't…" Mammon said, recalling he only allowed his servants inside when he WANTED them inside."Hey you, the jig is up, come on out of your hiding spot right now."
Husk cringed, he REALLY didn't want to move from his position after he had been found but there was no point hiding. They had already found him and the last thing he needed was Mammon being pissed at him.
"Well? I'm waiting! I'm not getting any younger here!" Mammon hissed impatiently.
Husk growled before reluctantly stepping forward and revealing himself completely.
Fredrick narrowed his eyes, a scowl present on his face,"Mammon…who is this? Is this another one of your servants? He doesn't look like any of the ones I've seen…"
"No…he's one of my employees," Mammon mentioned,"Though I don't know why he's here. I don't recall asking him to come here…"
"Well why is he here? He certainly isn't wanted. This is a private meeting and I don't appreciate peasants intruding on our affairs," Bethesda hissed lowly, giving Husk a disgusted look, one which Husk was more than eager to return.
"Don't worry Bethesda, I'm certain Harry has a good reason for being here.."
"For the tenth time in a row, it's Hunter," He growled,"Second of all, the reason I was here wasn't for you guys…it was because I wanted to ask Mammon if I could have an increase of beer since the amount he's giving ain't enough…"
Fredrick and Bethesda gave him incredulous looks, apparently that wasn't what they were expecting here and they looked…annoyed? Hard to tell but they were most definitely displeased that their meeting had been interrupted over something as small as wine…
Mammon didn't seem too surprised, merely brushing off the interruption before saying,"Oh…that's what this was about…"
Not too shocking, it was pretty obvious Husk was an alcoholic and he had seen what the guy could drink first hand. Though it was clear that Mammon would've preferred he not be there and he felt rather out of place after getting caught.
"Well..Harris, in case you haven't noticed I was…in the middle of something important. Worry not, we were merely finishing up business though you should've waited your turn. Had I not been in a good mood I would've punished you for your actions though I'd hate to have to damage my new star and I bet you wouldn't want that either…"
"I wouldn't…" He grumbled, flinching with anger at Mammon's dismissive tone. At this point he was certain the fucker was intentionally mispronouncing his name just to spite him.
"Good…now don't worry, I'm just about done with this meeting anyhow. Bethesda, Frederick, I'll see you two later. I believe we are done here."
The two then left, but not before sending death glares in Husk's direction, Fredrick going as far as to roughly shove him aside when given the chance. That bastard damn near knocked him down and Husk muttered a curse in response.
'Bastard…" He hissed before brushing himself off and approaching Mammon nervously as he asked,"So…can I have some beer?"
"Not yet…"
"What do you mean not yet?"
"Well you did interrupt the meeting. I'm not mad per say but I do not see a reason to reward you after you proudly intervened. Perhaps if you do a favor for me I'd consider giving you what you desire…"
He groaned, of course there was always a goddamn catch. After rolling his eyes he begrudgingly asked,"What do you want with me this time?"
"You did happen to overhear what we were discussing, right?" He merely nodded and Mammon quickly continued forward,"Then you know just enough! Because right now, Bethesda and Fredrick have granted me the perfect opportunity to use their children as new entertainment and we need all the help we can get. Are you up for the job?"
Husk tensed, he wasn't interested in Mammon's offer but considering what the guy could do to him if he refused…he figured it was best to comply, more for his sake if anything."Yeah…"
"Perfect. I knew I could count on you. You'll get the finest wine in the land for fulfilling this task for me…I'll make it worth all the trouble… He said before playfully patting him on the head.
Husk cringed and moved away upon being touched before saying,"So…what do I do?"
"Do you have any experience serving as a lookout?"
He nodded his head again.
"Then you'll do just perfect. Because once you spot those two little brats, we'll wrangle them in and bring em back to the circus. You got that?"
"I got that.."
"Perfect. Now come along with me, since you'll be part of the procedure I need to get everything in position. This must be perfect…" He said the last part was more to himself than Husk.
'Fuck…greedy and a perfectionist…Just want I need…' He thought to himself bitterly, unease flooding into his thoughts.
"Come on my good fellow, get that chin up! We've got a job to do! No time to waste. Let's get going…" Mammon then noticed Husk refused to move and narrowed his eyes,"I said let's get going? Did you not hear me?"
"I heard..I just need to collect my thoughts for a second. Give me a minute.."
"Fine..Just don't take too long. Time is money you know…" Mammon ushered before turning his back on him and leaving the room.
Once the door slammed, Husk's eyes then darted to the book that was one the desk. He peered at it before noticing it was a journal and picked it up.
'Guess this is the girl's journal if I had to assume…' He thought as he skimmed through the pages, already able to get the gist of it…Girl has a heart of ice to lead someone on like this, she has no concept of love…Then again..with parents like that, I can't say I'm shocked…'
Because if Husk knew anything about parental neglect, it was that those who refused to show their children love often gave birth to heartless individuals with malice ingrained into their hearts.
For his sake, he decided to keep the book on him, tucking it in his pocket. He wasn't sure what he was going to do with it but he figured the journal was better with him than it was with Mammon. Wasn't like the bastard would notice anyhow…
As he headed out with Mammon, he did his best to hide his disgust of the man along the way.
Hours later, it had gotten dark and Vox was aboard a wooden boat while following the twins through the water, the two sirens going at a moderate pace in order to allow the blonde to keep up with his paddle.
Vox grunted as he paddled through the calm waves. This was a new experience and he wasn't entirely used to paddling, let alone by hand. He then asked,"How long do we have to keep going before we get to what you're trying to show me again? My arms are sore…"
"Just a little more," Seviathan mentioned before stopping and pointing forward,"There it is."
"About time, I was wondering what we came here forrrrrrrrr…." His sentence trailed off as his eyes popped out of his head in disbelief.
His jaw dropped at the sight through the water. He could see the luminous coral through the water. He peered off the edge of the boat and was able to see just how beautiful the ocean was. There were fish swimming around peacefully, the moonlight shimmering through the water….
"Holy shit..It's…it's…beautiful.." As he looked at the view, he nearly had a heart attack when his boat began shaking,"EEEEEK! A SEA MONSTER IS ATTACKING ME! SAVE ME!"
Seviathan raised an eyebrow before laughing.
"Hey! What's so funny!? Why aren't you helping me!? I'm getting attacked by a monster!"
"No you're not," He said,"You're not being attacked by a sea monster, that's just Helsa fucking with you." He then called out,"Come out of the water, sis. You may be able to fool Vox but you can't fool me. Show yourself."
Helsa emerged from the water with an amused smile on her face, Vox scowling as his face heated with embarrassment,"HELSA! WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM? YOU SCARED ME!"
She gave him a 'no fucking shit' look before playfully nudging the boat again. Vox hung on in order to ensure he didn't go overboard and sent her a look, fuming with rage and humiliation at the twin's mocking reactions towards him.
"You guys are such assholes…" Vox huffed, folding his arms over his chest bitterly.
"Aw, what's the matter? Got your ego bruised by a girl?" Seviathan remarked, a wide smile radiating of confidence plastered on his face before Helsa elbowed,"Hey! What's the matter with you?"
Helsa glared at him before scoffing. Mute she may have been but she was still able to voice her displeasure in more ways than one. Didn't need a voice to physically harm someone after all….
Seviathan gritted his teeth before an idea hit him and he used the ocean water to splash Helsa in the face. Helsa growled when he splashed her and turned the next wave of water he tried to throw at her into ice and began fighting back.
The twins began to fight and it was a constant fight to assert dominance.
Fearing the fight would get out of hand, Vox tried to put a stop to it,"Guys, there's no need to fight. That's enough fighting!"
"Oh shut up!" Seviathan then decided to attempt to attack Vox in order to switch things up and Vox instinctively put his arms up and braced himself for the worse.
The hit never came as Helsa had a sheet of ice protecting him from the blast. The former TV Demon's mouth was left agape. Helsa narrowed her eyes at Seviathan before hissing at him with great hostility. Even without words it was an obvious way of saying,'What the fuck was that?'
"What? He was getting in the way. Besides, it's not like that would've seriously hurt him. You're acting like I tried to drown him…"
She rolled her eyes before swimming up to Vox's boat to check on him.
"I'm fine,'' he assured after regaining his composure,"Just a little startled, that's all. Thanks for the save though. I greatly appreciate that…"
"Are you done flirting with my sister or what?" Seviathan asked, arms folded over his chest in annoyance.
"I'm not flirting with her," He remarked flatly.
"Keep telling yourself that…Maybe you'll believe your own lies one day…"
Vox scoffed,"Whatever…Let's just go back to the pier. I still need to go to work tomorrow…"
"Fair enough. It's late anyways…"
They soon made their way back to the pier. It took some time but they managed to get to the beach. Vox parked the boat at the pier before turning to the sirens to bid farewell,"Thanks for hanging out with me. That was…truly something. I'd like to do that again honestly…"
"Eh, it was…alright," Seviathan admitted,"What about you, Helsa?"
Helsa signed with a grin,'"It was amazing. I especially enjoyed being with you, Vox…"
"So did I…" He then cleared his throat,"Y-You know I was just wondering maybe the two of us could hang out sometime…" He said, refusing to make eye-contact to hide his nervousness. He hadn't done this sort of thing in a while and he was hoping maybe he could get closer to her personally without sounding like an idiot...
Before Helsa could respond the trio froze up when they heard someone whistle.
The next thing the trio knew, they were getting ambushed so fast they could barely tell what was happening. Vox was suddenly launched into the air and thrown into the water while Helsa and Seviathan could only watch in horror at the scene.
"What the-" Seviathan started only to scream when someone tossed a net over them. He and Helsa tried to remove something but it was preventing them from using their powers and they couldn't move."Why can't we free ourselves!?"
"Because," Mammon said, their eyes wide upon recognizing his voice,"These ropes are specially designed to restrain those with powers. We came prepared and now that we caught you it's time we bring you to your new home. I assure you that we'll make you quite comfy…"
The laced tone of Mammon's words didn't fool the twins and both of them became worried for their own sake, especially as they were pulled onto the surface.
On land, they could see several men surrounding them along with Mammon, who picked up the net and ignored their struggles by bluntly saying," Be quiet you two, no amount of struggling will free you so I suggest you get used to it." He then said,"Alright boys, open the wagon. Let's get you two accommodated now, shall we?"
The twins were then tossed into a cold and dark wagon before it was slammed shut and locked. After they were locked up and tight, Mammon dusted off his hands with a sigh of relief,"Phew. That was easy…"
From inside the wagon, Helsa and Seviathan weren't able to see much. It was dark, cold and very tight, just barely giving them enough space to move their body. The twins tensed when they heard Mammon's muffled voice conversing with another from the outside of the wagon.
"Hey Mammon, now that we got them what should we do with them?"
"Get them back to the circus as planned of course. What else would we do? Our job is already done, not only have we got the twins but you managed to get rid of that commoner. No doubt he would've been a nuisance had he stuck around."
"I know…But are you sure this is a good idea? Something just doesn't feel right about this…"
"Relax, Hank, it'll be just fine. Besides, I got permission from their parents to do this so that means it's fine…"
Seviathan grit his teeth, eyes flared up with rage,'They..they did to us..Those fuckers..How dare they…" His dislike of his parents turned into boiling hatred.
They may not have been their parents given how fucked up this timeline was but the fact any version could dare do this to their children…it was enough to make him beyond livid. The things he wanted to do to them...oh how he wished to shed their blood and make it rain from the heavens...It was a disturbing thought but a small part of him really did desire that...
Helsa on the other hand…was unresponsive. She merely remained silent(not like she could voice her opinion vocally anyhow). If she was infatuated like her brother she didn't show it, merely staring out the bars of the wagon longingly for someone she knew wasn't there…
The twins were then carried off in the wagon, cringing at the bumpy roads the wheels crossed over….
From afar…bubbles ruptured from the ocean's surface before Vox emerged from the deep. He had managed to catch sight of the wagon leaving the area before it disappeared as soon as it came, taking away Helsa and Seviathan in the process.
The former overlord was engulfed with rage, his entire body shaking. He still couldn't believe what just happened, at how quick he had lost them. But more importantly..lost her…
'I…I couldn't protect her…' He felt disappointed in himself for failing to protect the person who had saved him not too long ago. She brought him to the surface and he couldn't even return the favor for her when it mattered…
Maybe he should give up. Showing his face would be shameful after his great failure. Then go about living the rest of his life in misery and self-pity before forgetting about her entirely.
Only for him to remember her face the moment she saved him. He could recall every part of her from the finest detail, her beautiful smile, her long ivory hair and her eyes…Those ice cold eyes that could freeze over Hell itself were the most gorgeous things he had ever seen.
And her lips, those lips are cold enough to give him frost-bite when she kissed him. Those lips had ghosted over his cheek for a mere second in reality yet when it had happened, it was one of the few things that was stuck inside his mind, the moment replaying itself at every turn.
Despite her being so cold…her touch was enough to make him slowly melt beside her. Even when they were holding hands or merely leaning against each other, it was enough to make him feel safe..to make him feel cared for, as if someone had finally grown to care for him after all these years. She had saved him, a stranger, for whatever reasons and she was one of the few people he dared to begin growing affectionate towards...
Only for it to be ripped away by some circus freak...That was just something he couldn't stand, the idea of losing someone after getting so close to them was enough to drive him mad. He couldn't stop thinking about her no matter how hard he tried and he was livid at her being taken away from him so soon.
Call it foolish(and honestly Vox was more than willing to admit he was a fucking fool) but he couldn't let go. He couldn't forget about the things she had done, the things she had done for him, things she had done to him for that matter…
He didn't care who'd he have to face, he was getting her back no matter what.
"I…I will find her…I will find her if it's the last thing I do…" He hissed to himself as he trudged towards the beach.
