Angel Dust groaned as he sat in his cell beyond miserable. He had barely gotten any proper rest with their sudden apprehension and the knowledge that Wiggles had been taken from him wasn't doing any favors for his mental health.
The worst part was that it was his first full day here and he already despised this place. The showers were covered in mold and the place was unsanitary beyond belief. There were no sanitation standards and all the guys had to shower at the same time.
Normally the notion of being in a room with several hot guys would be Angel's dream come true but the circumstances were far from flattering, especially when the reeked of slime or whatever else was in the pipes. It smelled like a sewer and Angel had to resist the urge to barf when they all had to share the cleaning products(and the ones they were given were of poor/questionable quality).
Not only did he have to be around Vox(who he just barely managed to not punch in the face when he laid his eyes on him) but the fact the blonde more or less ignored the contempt and betrayal he had caused was enough to send him fuming.
The only time the boys were allowed to interact with the girls was during lunch. It wasn't much better there since the food was awful to put it bluntly. The slop they served was barely edible and Angel could barely take more than two bites without gagging.
Still, he could get past all that, as horrible as it sounded. Because that wasn't the part he was losing sleep over. They could toss him in a cell and throw away the key for all he cared, hell they could say he was going to be hung at 3 this very eve and he'd hardly bat an eye to it.
Call him foolish but death stopped being seen as daunting years ago. The shit Val put him through made him wish that an Exorcist would drop down into his apartment and end his suffering, knowing that double-death was the only place Value wouldn't be able to reach him.
After all, how can you reach someone who doesn't exist?
He had contemplated throwing himself at the Exterminators several times though he always hesitated at the end.
It was so simple reaching for the knob and embracing his fate yet he always turned back on it. He never understood why he did this, he knew his life wasn't ever gonna get better and he wasn't scared of death.
Honestly, he never understood why he didn't let himself die to escape the pain. He always asked himself but he had no owners. His best guess was that it was his sheer stubbornness that kept him from going through with it.
Regardless, the notion that he could die was bothering him. No, what bothered him was the absence of two beings he cared for deeply.
Those guards had taken away Wiggles, his pet boar with the intent on turning him into a slab of meat once he was a bit bigger. He had grown so attached to the pig due to his likeness to Fat Nuggets and the idea of losing him would tear him apart…
But what worried him even more was that he hadn't seen Charles anywhere. Not in the showers, not at lunch, not even when they were escorted back to their cells. He wasn't anywhere to be found and Angel was worried something may have happened to him during the night.
It didn't even make sense for him to be gone since the only ones he hadn't seen during prison was Seviathan and Helsa but he chalked that up to their lack of mobility rendering them unable to travel like the rest of them due to their lack of legs. They likely had a more watery prison somewhere else in the prison that was adapted for their bodies.
Charlie had perfectly functioning legs last he checked and he feared something happened while no one was around.
His mind was racing, the scenarios flooding into his mind filled him with paranoia as he feared the worst for his dear friend. He never let himself get attached to another person like this and the thought of losing them after they had come so far was making his heart pound with fright.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard someone approaching, at first he thought it was the guards but he noticed how light and dainty the footsteps were, lacking the hostile stomping the guards had whenever they did their runs around the prison.
Then again, it could've been Lucifer as he had seen the bastard walk around the other day, he talked to him for a few minutes but the conversation mostly centered around how much trouble they were in and that he'd be lucky to see the light of day again assuming he didn't send them all to hang.
Yeah, it wasn't exactly the most pleasant conversation as you could imagine.
He remained on guard, preparing himself on the off-chance it was Lucifer on his way to tell them the time of his execution. The horned male turned his head to the cell entrance as he awaited for the person to arrive, hoping they might walk past him if they weren't a friendly face.
When the person approached his cell he jumped when he saw a blonde woman in a rather lavish dress with hair tied up in a bun wearing a crown on her head.
"Uh…Who are you toots?" He asked,"I've never seen someone like you before and you don't look like the knucklehead guards I've seen patrolling the area. You looking for somebody cuz I think you're at the wrong cell lady."
She took a deep breath before sighing,"Angel, it's me, Charlie."
"Charlie?" He asked in disbelief,"Is that really you?"
"Of course it's me, who else would it be?" She asked in a joking manner though Angel's face remained serious.
"You..you don't look like yourself, Charles."
"What do you mean?"
"Well first off, you're a chick now, second of all, you're a chick and thirdly…you're a fucking chick!" He emphasized the point several times over, gesturing his hands at her to prove a point behind the cell bars.
"I'm…very aware of that, Angel.."
"And you're acting like it ain't a big deal!?" He shouted,"Charles, baby, what the fuck happened to you!? Did someone do this to ya? Was it Lucifer? He did this, didn't he? God I'll fucking rip that bastard's dick off when I get my hands on that prideful jackass! How dare that bastard, why'd he even do that!?"
"Angel.."
"And I get it, people have their kinks, I've got plenty and I'm not the type to judge, but turning someone into a different gender for kicks is one strike too far! "
Charlie cringed, this was definitely how she wanted the conversation to go and Angel was getting the wrong idea. She had to put a stop to it soon before he went off the deep end with his rant.
"Angel…"
"I swear to god that if I ever get my hands on that guy I'll ram these horns of mine up so far up his ass that he'll be seeing Heaven in a hand-basket!"
"Angel!" Charlie shouted, having to raise her voice to catch the attention of her dearest ally. Angel flinched at the tone of her voice, stepping back a bit in response. She took a deep breath before wincing and apologizing,"I'm sorry, Angel…"
"It's alright, ain't the first time I've yelled at,"He admitted,"You just shocked me that's all. You were never the type to raise your voice after all. It's fine, I even dealt with verbal beatings before, you being a little loud is nothing to me."
"No, Angel..that's not what I'm apologizing for."
"It's not? Then what are you apologizing for then?" He asked before saying in a somber tone,"Charlie, I don't fault you for surrendering if that's what this is about. It was Vox's fault for not telling us about his stupid deal with Mammon, you had no way of knowing about any of that. Besides, I doubt we would've been able to do anything anyway, we may have superpowers but none of that means shit to the Devil…"
"I appreciate that, Angel…but that's not what I was apologizing for.." She then took a deep breath, there was turning back now,"Because Angel..I wasn't turned into a girl. I always was one…"
There was a massive pause and Charlie could feel her heart clenching with fear, anticipating the outburst. Instead, Angel remained silent, his posture straightened up. The tension was thick enough to cut a knife in half.
Eventually Angel gathered the courage to speak up and said in a rather quiet yet still broken voice,"You lied to me…"
"Angel, I swear, you weren't supposed to find out like this-"
"Was I supposed to find out at all?" He countered,"When were you gonna tell me you were a girl, Charlie? Or were you just gonna keep it under wraps in hopes I wouldn't find out eventually?"
"I was going to tell…eventually…" She admitted, her voice getting quieter and quieter.
"By eventually you mean you would have dragged it out for as long as possible, is that I'm getting out of this?"
"What? No, I would never-"
"Charlie, you just admitted to lying to everyone for months so forgive me if I ain't gonna take your word for it on what you would've done. Tell me, is there anything else you've been keeping for me? Because if you've been lying about your gender then surely you've been lying about something else. I"m wondering if Charlie's even real fucking name at this rate…"
"It is my name, Angel…When my nickname to be exact…"
"Oh great, more secrets,"He grumbled,"Leeme guess, you've got another secret name you've been hiding from the rest of us? Do you have some sort of tacky ass secret identity that you've been hiding too?"
"Not exactly…" Charlie sighed, twiddling her fingers,"You see, back in Hell…I wasn't an ordinary demon like I said I was. I…I kind of lied to you about who I was…"
"Tell me something I don't know,"He grumbled,"Just get on with it, there's no point in hiding. I doubt I'll be that surprised…"
"Angel, my real name is Charlotte. Charlotte Morningstar Magne…" She admitted,"And I'm the Daughter of Lucifer and the Princess of All Hell itself…"
Angel blanked,"You've gotta be fucking with me. There's no way your fucking royatly, Charlie…That's bullshit…"
"I swear on my life that I'm telling the truth. I know it's hard to believe me but I assure you that I have divine blood flowing through my veins…"
The former Porn Star's mouth was agape for a moment before he asked,"Why didn't you tell me? No, scratch that, why didn't you tell everyone? Don't the rest of us deserve to know this sort of stuff or were we just not 'worthy' of knowing,'Princess'?"
Charlie flinched at his accusatory tone before saying,"It just never occurred to me to bring it up. There was never a good time to discuss the situation and I thought it'd only cause conflict amongst the group…"
"Would've saved us a whole lotta trouble if ya did. Though I gotta ask why you even bothered disguising yourself since you seemed to be crossdressing long before I met ya…"
"It's a long story, Angel…But to make things short, me and my father had a falling out so to speak and he said he'd take something I held very dear to me after I exchanged some not so pleasant words with him. I wanted to hit him where it hurt so I decided to change my identity and run away with Vaggie. I got some money out of my original account and got new documentation and had a plan to live out in the woods until I felt I showed my Dad what for. As you can tell, things didn't exactly go to plan…"
"So I'm not the only one with Daddy issues, neat," He said in a sarcastic manner,"Though I gotta ask, where did the idea to become a guy come from? Because I doubt you came up with this…"
"To be honest, the idea came from Vaggie. I don't think she thought I'd take it literally but something in my mind made me think it was a wonderful idea. All I needed was to force my voice to sound deeper and some masculine clothes and I had everyone fooled..well…also to everyone…"
"Almost? Are you saying that someone else knew about you being a girl and didn't say anything?"
"Seviathan and Helsa knew…" She admitted.
"And how'd they know?" He asked.
"Because Seviathan was my ex-boyfriend several centuries back. We had been engaged since we were young and had known each other since childhood. We used to be good friends and lovers even but things took a turn when I explained my ideals to him and he started showing this side to him I wasn't aware existed. I know everyone's skeptical of my beliefs but Seviathan was a lot harsher and it really affected our relationship to the point I cut it off. It had been years since I had seen him yet he still seems to hold me in contempt after all these centuries due to the judgment he faced for losing my hand in marriage. Helsa is his sister and we never really got along. To put it lightly she was a massive bitch, you just can't really tell since she lost her voice. She probably would've blurted it out by now had she not been rendered mute when she fell down here…"
"Why didn't your ex say anything then?"
"I…don't know," She muttered,"I'd have to ask Seviathan why. I'm surprised he didn't blow my cover himself though I suppose he simply wasn't granted a window of opportunity to do so. Had we not been captured he likely would have spoken up sooner or later.."
"And what would you have said if he revealed the truth to me? Would you have denied it or claimed he was lying?"
"I…I don't know what I would've done…I'm not in that position so I can't say what I would've done at that time."
"So you're saying you would've lied again?"
"Angel, I never said that-"
"I don't need to know what you said to know you would've liked Charlie. You've been lying behind almost everyone's backs for months and there isn't a doubt in my mind you would've done it again. Then again, what should I expect from the daughter of the King of all Liars himself?"
"Angel, I am not like my father," She growled.
"You say you are not but you sure as hell are acting like him. You managed to fool just about everyone into believing you were another person and made us trust ya. We all trusted ya, Charlie..I trusted you and this is how ya repay my faith?"
"You weren't supposed to find out like this.."
"Course I wasn't…" He grumbled,"That's what they all say. Now tell me, are there any other secrets you've been hiding? I don't know what to believe anymore and I'd appreciate it if you were honest with me just this once…"
"Not that I know of…" She sighed,"Listen Angel, I understand you're hurt but I promise that I'm not hiding anything else from you. It's a shame I didn't tell you sooner but I still feel the same way about you despite this change even if you don't feel the same way. I understand that you don't trust me and that this is really shocking for you but I promise it isn't all bad. I managed to save Wiggles if that makes you feel any better…"
Angel perked up a bit,"You saved him? You're not pulling my leg are you?"
"No..he's upstairs in my room..Or rather my alternate's room. The palace believes he is my pet and that's the only thing saving him from slaughter. As long as they think he's mine, no one will hurt him…"
For a moment Angel remained silent and Charlie wasn't sure if he had fully registered what she had said, likely debating if she was telling the truth or not in his head. When he finally spoke he said,"It's hard for me to take your word after what ya did, Charlie, but I'm hoping you aren't cruel enough to tell me something like this. I won't believe it until I see him but I am gonna try and give you the benefit of the doubt on this one…"
"And if I do, does that mean we can be friends again?"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Charlie, I still don't trust ya and I need to know you aren't a complete liar after all this time. I'm not sure who you even are anymore and I can't be certain of your words. I need to see the truth for myself to prove your true character. Even then, whether the relationship can mend is something I'm not even certain of. I don't like when people betray my trust Charlie so you better be telling the truth on this one, for your sake if anything…"
She frowned,"Angel…I-"
"Don't. You'll make it worse. Just go already," He growled when she didn't move,"Didn't ya hear me? I said for you to go. Leave me alone already, I don't wanna talk.."
Charlie flinched at his tone, his voice sounded broken and hoarse despite the growl to his voice, as if he struggled to keep his tone in tune. He sounded like he was trying to sound angry but his voice simply refused to give a full effort required to do so.
"Angel…I'm sorry..please just let me explain.."
"You've explained enough. I don't need to hear anymore outta your mouth. Now go, I can't stand the sight of you right now. If you truly care about me then you should leave me be and go through with your word assuming you weren't lying about that. If you were…then you shouldn't come back. I don't wanna see ya if you don't go through with your promise.."
Charlie fell silent, wanting desperately to reach out to him but Angel backed away, sinking further into the cell as he shouted,"Just leave already! Did you not hear me!? Go away and don't come back!"
The Princess flinched at his tone, his voice was hurt and full of betrayal. She wanted to comfort him but she knew she couldn't, especially not after what she had said to him.
Instead, she took a deep breath and walked past his cell. It wasn't like she hadn't anticipated it going sour but seeing the look of betrayal on his face was enough to cause her heart to twist in agony.
It hurt seeing someone you cared so much for looking at you with distrust. She hoped it wasn't permanent but only time would tell if Angel would ever grow to trust her again like he had before and if they could be friends again…
She wasn't sure but she figured she'd deal with that when the time came again. The only thing she could do was move forward and hope for the best. Perhaps it would be best to pay the others a visit and see how they were taken to confinement. Surely their reactions would be an improvement compared to Angel's(at least she hoped they were.)
Once Charlie was out of sight, Angel sank further back and crumbled to the floor. He felt like such a fool. To think he had actually grown to like someone in a romantic way only for it to be revealed the man he fancied was a woman.
He wondered how he hadn't seen it coming, if there were any sort of signs that he could've missed. As he thought about it, it certainly did make sense why Charlie never changed in front of them as it would give away her true gender and always changed where no one else was.
Charlie was always a bit more feminine compared to the other guys but he always chalked it off to being built differently. He was an effeminate man himself so he was no stranger to being feminine in nature but Charlie was more feminine than he was and he felt like a fool for not noticing it.
Now that the truth was revealed, he was left in a rough position. Had he and Charlie just kept to being friends the blow probably wouldn't have been so bad.
But they weren't friends. It may not have been official but he and Charlie had entered romantic territory. He had kissed her for crying out loud back in the cellar and they probably would've done more had Vaggie not intervened…
God…to think he could've found this out sooner had he just gotten further with her. No doubt he would've flipped out but now…he was just confused, scared and rather conflicted after realizing he had been bamboozled by someone he believed he could call friend and something more...
Because a part of him was still attracted to her and it scared him. He didn't it understand why he felt this way, he had never found any woman attractive prior to this and the idea of having sex with them was more or less a chore that he did purely for money. Whenever women hit on him he mostly shrugged it off and only cared if they had money on them that made screwing them seem worth it.
But something about Charlie made him feel different. Something that made him see her more than just an ordinary woman that he saw on the streets. Because even without her disguise, something still made him drawn to her…
Maybe it was the fact he originally thought she was a man and carried over feelings from it, but there was still something else that he couldn't identify that made him feel something for her even in her current state.
"Fuck..what the hell is wrong with me?"
He got no answer for his question and was left to endure his inner turmoil by himself, sinking into his prison cell with his hands clutching his hair. He didn't understand what was wrong with him but he knew one thing, the day he admitted he liked a woman was the day Hell itself froze over. It simply had to be a fluke, he couldn't actually be attracted to her...he just couldn't...
Charlie walked past the other cells, seeing hardened criminals inside of their prison cells. She felt sorry for them and wished she could help them but knew she was in no position to do so and carried on walking along.
With how terrible the conversation with Angel was, she was hoping seeing another face would put her at ease…
Besides, she really needed to speak with Vox in order to find out what side he was truly on. She had to be sure where his loyalties resided before she made any further movements.
His cell was farther away from the others and it took some time getting there. It seemed like the cell was meant to be on an isolated side of the prison and there weren't any prisoners in the empty cells either.
When she located Vox's cell she noticed him sitting in a corner with his head down and hands together, his clothes loosely put on with his collar exposed.
Her nose wrinkled as a familiar odor invaded her nostrils. The smell of sex and bodily fluids was faint yet it was still there, enough for her to cover her nose in order to avoid smelling it.
'God..what happened here? Was he…pleasuring himself?'
She really didn't want to think about that but it sounds fairly reasonable. There were no men or women around so it wasn't' out of the question for Vox to…touch himself. People tended to do that when they were bored and jail was far from the most entertaining place.
Regardless, she was hoping she could still talk to him even despite the…strange circumstances. It didn't seem like the former Overlord had noticed her and was mumbling incoherent words to himself.
"Hey…"
Vox jumped up in surprise before hissing,"Son of a bitch! What do you guards want? It's a little late to be bothering prisoners? Shouldn't you bastards be asleep and-" he paused when he noticed the way Charlie was dressed and stopped his rant,"Wait…you're not a guard. Who are you?"
Charlie sighed, figures he wouldn't recognize her like this, he looked rather uneasy at her presence and seemed slightly scared at the notion a total stranger was at his cell. She then said,"Vox, it's me, Charlie…"
"Charlie?" He narrowed his eyes before taking a closer look at her,"Did you change into a girl?"
"No, Vox…I always was one and I've…been keeping my true self a secret from the majority of our group. You probably don't recognize me in this form but I'm certain the words Charlotte Morningstar Magne will ring a bell.."
It all started coming together and the gears in Vox' shed turned,"You..your Lucifer's daughter! I knew something was suspicious about you! I can't believe I didn't see this coming. You were lying to us the entire time. Then again, what should I expect from the spawn of the King of Liars himself?"
"You were doing the same thing, Vox," She countered,"You withheld information about making a deal with Mammon from the rest of us. We wouldn't even be in this situation if you were just honest…."
Vox shrunk before sighing,"Why are you even here, Charlie? And why are you dressed like that? I thought you were in jail like the rest of us…"
"I…I managed to convince Lucifer that I was his long lost daughter and that's currently the only thing saving me from being in jail time.."
"That still don't answer my question, why are you here? Are you here to boast or have you come to tear into me about being a 'traitor'? Because don't worry, I got enough of that shit from Bambi and that skank whore of Val's. Not to mention that hot tempered bitch and the little maid of Al's…"
"Don't insult Angel and Vaggie like that!"
"Did I hit a nerve, Charlie? Or are you just offended that I insulted your boyfriend? Hell, is he even aware that you're a girl? You know he's gay right? He's not gonna like you anymore now that you're a woman…"
"He knows… I just told him. He…he didn't take it well."
"No shit, you've been duping him this whole time. He thought he finally found a man who actually gave a shit about him for reasons other than his body only to have the rug pulled out from under him. Must really sting knowing that he got tricked by the Princess of Lies!" He laughed mockingly.
"Quiet Vox…" She growled,"I'm trying to be patient with you but you're making it really hard with your attitude right now.."
"Oh? Are you trying to be patient? Why? Don't act like you care, 's the real reason you came here? Are you here to mock me or what because I'd appreciate it if you got it over with and left…"
"I didn't come here to mock you, Vox. I came here to understand why you made a deal with Mammon in the first place…"
"Oh, so that's what this is about.." He groaned,"An interrogation? How quaint, Princess. Well then, ask away, not like I'm in the position to tell you otherwise…"
"Why'd you do it?"
"To get to Helsa and Seviathan," He stated flatly,"Their parents sold them to Mammon and I figured the only way to get to them was by pledging loyalty so that he'd let me stick around long enough to escape. As you can see, that didn't exactly end how I would've liked it to.."
"What did you do at the circus in exchange for selling yourself?"
"Perform tricks, manage to stand, deal with the bratty kids. That sort of shit. It wasn't anything really interesting if you catch my drift. Husk and I were bored out of our minds running those stupid stands and I hated every second of with that stupid Fizz bot watching us behind our backs and tattling to Mammon, goddamn tattletale made everything worse" He muttered the last part in a low tone but Charlie managed to catch it.
"How did Fizz make it worse, Vox? What did he tell Mammon that made things go south?"
Vox flinched as his voice faltered in tone, the snark vanishing entirely and replaced with a soft and small voice,"I…I would rather not talk about it…"
"Vox, I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on. I know you're not a traitor and then you had good intentions when you sold yourself but I need you to be honest with me because the others don't know that and I want to help you. Please, just tell me what he did…"
"He…he…" He looked away, ashamed in himself,"It's none of your business what he did, Charlie…"
"Vox, please let me help you. Just tell me what he did. I understand Mammon was the source of the pain you endured during our journey but you need to tell me everything he did. Hiding it won't help anyone.."
"You can't help me, Charlie.." He growled,"People like me cannot be helped. There is no happy ending for someone like can't save me, Charlie.."
"And why can't I?"
"You just can't…"
"Vox..I believe that every person can be better if they just try. I know you have something good in you and the fact you bother to save Helsa and Seviathan proves it. I know you can be helped, Vox. You just have to be honest with me.."
"How many times do I have to say it, Charlie?" He hissed,"I cannot be saved, there is no hope for me! Haven't your parents ever told you that the wicked do not rest? That they don't deserve mercy!? I don't deserve kindness and if you had any common sense, you'd realize that sinners cannot be saved. We lost that chance long ago, Charlie, you cant help a damned soul change. It's impossible…"
She tensed at his tone, jumping back as he buried his head deeper into his hands. He looked defeated and broken and she could tell he was holding back the urge to sob right in front of her, likely because of that small bit of pride he possessed that hung by a thread.
"Go away…" He whined,"Just go away, Charlie. Can't you see I'm beyond help? You cannot save me, my chance of salvation died decades ago. I have nothing to give you and everything valuable to me belongs in the hands of another. Just leave me be and cast me off as a traitor already for both of our sakes. I'd rather you write me off as a lost cause than have you constantly badger me in an attempt to 'save my soul', as if I hadn't already thrown that away. And for what? A girl who doesn't even like me? " He then chuckled dryly,"God…I was such an idiot…I probably deserve this honestly. I deserve this for being such a fool and thinking Helsa could like me."
The Princess fell silent, uncertain who to respond. She desperately wanted to help him but it seemed Vox was already emotionally crushed and even more jaded than before. She had seen many broken spirits in her lifetime but somehow seeing Vox like this made it even worse.
The way she saw him advertisements always brought him out to be near untouchable and confident beyond compare yet it appeared without that TV screen and glamor that he was just a broken sinner just like the rest of them.
And to be frank, she wasn't entirely sure how to help Vox. His soul belonged to Mammon and it put her in a tight spot. Her only real advantage was that they believed she was the original Charlotte but she wasn't sure if that would grant her the ability to simply ask for Vox's soul, especially since there didn't seem to be any paper signed.
Getting out of contact with demons was possible, albeit expensive and fairly difficult but Deadly Sins were the hardest contracts to break. Even Charlie herself was uncertain how she was going to free Vox and if she even had the ability to do so.
"Vox…I know you're not in the best place right now but I will find a way to set you free…somehow…"
"You're wasting your time,"He replied,"You're free to test your luck but I doubt you'll manage to do anything, Mammon won't let you free me. You may be the Princess, Charlie but that's the only power you truly hold, without your magical abilities you stand no chance at threatening Mammon into doing anything."
"You don't know that, I can help you, Vox. I know you don't believe me but I will help you, even if you don't believe me. I know you've given up hope for yourself and that you don't believe things can get better but I promise that if you give me a chance I'll find a way to get you out of this."
"You're far too optimistic, Charlie. Just leave me be. It's not worth it.."
"Vox, I know you're worth it, even if you don't think so. You just have to let me help you…"
The former Overlord's eyes widened when he heard a familiar set of footsteps approaching. His back straightened with fright as he said,"Charlie, get out of here. He's coming…"
"Who's coming?" Charlie then turned to the source and narrowed her eyes when she saw an all too familiar face,"Mammon…"
"Charlotte Morningstar…" He greeted back in a faux-pleasant tone,"Greetings Princess, I didn't expect to see you here. Don't you think it's a little late to be up at this time? It is past your bedtime isn't it? You should head back to your chambers…"
"I'm a grown woman, Mammon,"She growled,"Second of all, I can go as I please and I'm well within my right to visit my toys."
Vox paused at the notion of being called a toy. He had never heard Charlie speak of them like that and it was slightly unnerving.
Mammon rolled his eyes,"I understand you haven't grown out of your childish faze, Charlotte, however you have to understand at this age that certain things belong to others. Not everything in the world belongs to you despite what your father has raised you to believe. Vincent is my property and I'd appreciate some alone time with him…"
"And what if I don't want to go? I'm not finished with him just yet!" She pouted, stomping her foot like a child.
Mammon scoffed,"Your immaturity shows itself yet again. I cannot believe Luci produced such a childish brat. Even with all your years you still act like a child."
"Be quiet, Mammon, else I'll tell Father you insulted me!" She snapped.
"Oh I'm so scared," He replied sarcastically before pinching the bridge of his forehead,"Listen, that tactic of calling Dad works when you're five but don't you think you're a little too old to cry to Daddy when things don't go your way? Don't you think that's a bit beneath you? Or does the Princess of Pride truly have no shame?"
"You're one to talk about having to shame you greedy bastard…"
"Looks like someone's got a bit of attitude, don't you, you little brat?" He asked spitefully,"You're lucky your Luci's daughter, else you wouldn't act as untouchable as you think you are…"
"I'm well aware of my privilege, Mammon, and I'm aware I can use it to my advantage so you better watch your back.."
"Is that a threat, little Charlotte?"
"A promise…and don't call me little.."
The two glared at each other, Charlie sending daggers in Mammon's direction as the tension between them dialed up. It was clear and Mammon seemed rather miffed by Charlie's blatant disrespect of his title.
Vox suddenly intervened, fearing what would come if nothing was done. Charlie had no powers and it'd get ugly if she pushed Mammon too far. He didn't want to witness anything ugly and it was better to quell the issue before it got out of control.
"Charlie, enough childish banter. Do not anger him, it's not worth it…"
"But he-"
"Charlie, drop the subject…" He growled,"There's no point in fighting. It won't solve anything and insulting him only makes it worse…"
"Vincent is right you know, Charlotte? Angering me won't help you and it wont help improve your standing amongst the hierarchy. Perhaps you should learn to show some respect to your elders instead of running away from your responsibilities when things get too rough for you like you had last time."
Charlie grit her teeth, she wanted nothing more than to punch him in the face but she held herself back, knowing she had no powers to back her up in a physical confrontation.
"Charlie, leave us be," Vox warned as he slowly stood up and pointed to the exit,"If you truly care, you'd take my advice you'd heed my words and go."
Charlie sent him a concerned glance, uncertainty weighing on her at the notion of leaving Vox alone with Mammon. Something just told her it was a bad idea and she didn't trust the Greedy Lord around him.
"Charlie, I'm not asking. Leave us be…" He then sighed,"Listen, I get your concern for my well being and all, but I promise you, I'll be fine. Just go back to bed and forget this ever happened…"
The Princess bit her lip, she wanted to stay but the look Vox gave her was enough to shake her to her core. Seeing no other choice, she took a deep breath and said,"F-Fine..Have it your way. Goodnight Vincent and Lord Mammon…"
She resisted the urge not to puke at referring to Mammon in high regard as she turned her back on them, walking past him and wincing when Mammon elbowed her in the side. She glared at him in response yet he had already turned his back on her.
She didn't even need to see his face to know the bastard had that pompous grin on his face…
'Fucking bastard…'
Once Charlie was out of sight, Mammon turned his attention to Vox and unlocked the cell door,"Vincent, Vincent, my dear, are you alright? I hope that Princess didn't scare you with her overbearing personality. She's quite the troublesome child if you can't tell…"
"She was alright… " He mumbled, already preparing himself for another night of rough sex again and was hoping his legs didn't give out when he woke up the next time…
Instead, Mammon grabbed his chin,"Is something bothering you, Vincent? You look tired. Have your allies been treating you poorly? I warned you that this would happen. They have no reason to trust you know it…" He then smiled,"But don't worry, because what matters is that I'm here to protect you. I can keep you safe, Vincent. You know that?"
Vox reluctantly nodded quietly before looking away, still conflicted over what Charlie had told him.
"Aw, don't look so down, don't let whatever that royal brat said affect you. Because no matter what, you will always have me. I'm the only one who cares for you, Vincent, no one else does. Not that siren, not Charlie, not even any of those so-called allies of yours care. But I do, and I promise that once you're out of this cell it'll get better for you…"
Vox blinked when Mammon suddenly embraced him in a warm hug, gently hosting him up into his arms and grabbing the back of his head, ruffling his hair. The feeling was strange and he wasn't certain how to feel, one part of him wanted to shove him off while the other wanted to melt into his arms just for a hint of comfort in his life…
Besides, resisting never got him anywhere anyways…no point in fighting back at this point. At least he wasn't having sex with him since he was still sore as hell from the other night...
He chose to remain still, his eyes growing heavy as Mammon caressed his hair and hummed a tune, the sound being enough to make his eyes feel even heavier. Eventually Vox fell limp and Mammon chuckled at the sight before heading over to place Vox on the bed.
He narrowed his eyes at the unkempt sight of the bed before using his powers to create a different bed. It was nothing fancy but it was better than the straw that Vox was sleeping in with clean sheets and a fluffy pillow.
He laid Vox down and was about to leave when Vox clung to his sleeve and pleaded,"Don't go…please.."
He was a bit shocked at this but regained his composure, smiling at the sight of his minion calling out for his affection. "If you insist, Vincent…" He laid in the bed and chuckled as he cuddled up with him, stroking his hair as he slept, the Greedy Lord amused at the mewls the blonde made in his sleep.
The sight of Vox sleeping against him was enough to drive him wild, he was so beautiful and so broken at the same time that he just wanted to build him up and tear him apart all over again…

Enigmus-288: Charlie's only real advantage is that they think she's this version of Lucifer's daughter and it's legit the only thing keeping her alive right now. Even then, the other's don't really take her seriously because of how she acts and it's not really helping as you can see.
