Chapter 3
Haven academy
After meeting up with Ruby the rest of the gang including the rest of team JNPR made their way to Mistral to meet up with the headmaster of Haven academy.
"So what is the headmaster like?" Ruby asks Qrow.
When Reese saw Qrow for the first time, he thought. "Is this guy for real?"
"Well he is the bravest huntsman I've ever known, he could take on a horde of grimm and not even blink." Qrow says.
"And how did he get the headmaster position?" Reese asks.
"He seems to always dodge that question, and why are you next to Yang?" Qrow asks.
"Well I'm married to her." Reese says.
"Oh how was the ceremony?" Qrow asks.
"It was a good ceremony uncle." Yang says.
"Who pronounced you husband and wife?" Ruby asks.
"Our dad." Yang says back.
"Oh. Did he object?" Ruby asks while grinning.
"He didn't, Reese did kick his butt in the middle of winter." Yang says.
"Wait, he beat your dad in a dual?" Weiss asks.
"Yep I did it was cold." Reese says.
"How did you do it?" Ruby asks.
"By hiding in the snow and kicking him." Reese says.
"Was it that simple?" Ruby asks.
"Yep." Reese says.
Just then Nora came running down the hill all excited.
"You guys it's beyond this hill!" Nora shouted.
Reese then cleared the hill to see a city nestled into the surrounding hills and mountains.
"Wow they look very well protected." Pyrrha says.
"Not by much." Reese thought internally.
"What do you think about this place Reese?" Yang asks.
"Do you want me to spoil the moment?" Reese asks.
"I want to hear this." Jaune says.
"It's not nice." Reese says.
"Well mr tactical. What's your opinion?" Pyrrha asks.
"Last chance." Reese says with a smile.
"Don't provoke him Pyrrha." Weiss says.
"Come on honey your friend is asking a question." Yang says with a smile.
"Fine what is the scenario?" Reese asks.
"Uhhh what?" Qrow asks.
"I'm asking in a hypothetical situation. Why would I cause mayhem? To this place?" Reese asks.
The group was silent.
"That's what I thought." Reese says as he gets back on his bike and rides into town.
When Reese was alone he got into the marketplace and started to explore with his civilian outfit on.
"What was that all about?" Patty asks.
"I don't know what was going through their heads and what they expected, but I think that after a while they realized how dark the subject became, and that's why they didn't ask." Reese says.
"Right. So what are you doing here?" Patty asks.
"Looking for a hotel." Reese says.
Ten minutes after Reese left the group he came back to still find them on the hill.
"Found a place for us to stay. The owner is very grateful too us." Reese says.
"How so?" Weiss asks.
"Well mainly because business has not been so good." Reese says.
"Is it because of the increased grimm activity?" Pyrrha asks.
"Well that and well the way she phrased it the town is now run differently last she remembered it." Reese says.
"So criminals? Right." Ren says.
"I asked that but she said no to that." Reese says.
"Sounds like something is wrong." Ruby says.
"Something is always wrong Ruby." Yang says.
15 minutes after the group checked in Reese was in his room with Yang watching him.
"What are you thinking about?" Yang asks.
"I don't know. I get the feeling that something is wrong." Reese says.
"How so?" Yang asks.
"Well when I asked about the headmaster and how he got his position, your uncle replied with an answer that is immediately suspicious to me." Reese says.
"And that was?" Yang says.
"That he avoided the question." Reese says.
"How is that suspicious?" Yang says.
"Well if I was to ask Ozpin the same question he would probably say something along the lines of. "I got this position by working hard." Something like that." Reese says.
Just then Yang's face changed.
"I see what you mean." Yang says as she looks down.
"But hey we are here so let's enjoy the moment." Reese says as he hugs her.
"Yeah I agree." Yang says as she kisses Reese.
BANG!
"What now." Reese said with annoyance.
"Sounded like a body just hit the ground." Yang says.
"Well I'm going to take a look." Reese says as he holsters his anti aura katana.
They both then ran up the stairs and onto the balcony to see Ruby, Ren, Pyrrha, Nora, Jaune, and Oscar doing sparring matches, well specifically Ruby and Oscar are the ones fighting.
"Yeah I'm good." Ruby says after she wins the mock match.
"Well that's because you fought an inexperienced opponent Ruby." Reese says.
"But at least it's a victory for me." Ruby says.
"Nice work miss Rose now how about someone who is more experienced." Ozpin says as he takes control.
Reese then leaned over to Yang and whispered in her ear.
"And this is where she learns the hard way." Reese says.
"Hey um let's take a break I'm feeling kinda tired." Ruby says with a worried look on her face.
"Nope you gotta fight your way out." Reese says with a grin.
Ruby then turns back to see a fist coming at her.
5 minutes later.
"Owwww." Ruby groaned.
"Did you learn your lesson?" Reese says.
"What lesson?" Ruby asks.
"There's always somebody that is a better fighter than you." Reese says.
"Like you?" Ruby asks.
"Well Winter could beat me in a fight." Reese says.
"How about my uncle?" Ruby asks.
"Humm I would need to watch him." Reese says.
"Why?" Yang asks.
"Well to see his fighting style and how he moves." Reese says.
"Humph you couldn't beat me." Qrow says.
Reese rolls his eyes at the thought.
"So when are we going to see the headmaster?" Weiss asks.
"Umm tomorrow." Qrow says.
"I'm going to retire to bed early. See you all tomorrow." Reese says as he walks away.
"Good night." Everyone said well except for Yang.
When Reese got to the room he immediately closed the drapes and took a look around the room.
"Patty are there bugs?" Reese asks.
"Scanning… no bugs in the room you're safe." Patty says.
"Good deactivate the armor." Reese says.
The armor then melted off of Reese then it went back into its solid state.
"Feels good to be out of it. And it was also good that I had the foresight to wear shorts." Reese said as he felt the air hit his skin.
"I haven't seen that in a long time." Yang said as she entered the room.
"Seen what my mussels?" Reese asks.
"Yep I haven't seen them in awhile." Yang says as she puts her hand on Reese's chest.
She then stopped right where Reese got shot during the rescue of Weiss's brother.
"Does it hurt?" Yang asks.
"Sometimes. I think a fragment of the dust round is still in there." Reese says.
Yang then hugs Reese and holds him for a bit.
"Let's go to bed, you can hold me there." Reese says.
They both then got in and Yang resumed her hug where they both fell asleep together.
Next morning.
The group then made their way to the headmasters office where they were going to tell him all the current events.
"How much info are you going to give Lionheart?" Ruby asks.
"Everything." Qrow says.
"I wouldn't tell him everything." Reese says.
"Why?" Yang asks.
"Well with all the events that have taken place, I would be careful where I put my trust." Reese says.
"Well I trust the man so I'll tell him everything." Qrow says.
Reese rolls his eyes again.
"Patty please do a background check on professor lionheart." Reese says out loud.
"Checking." Patty says.
"Listen you little shit. I'm a professional huntsman and I know what I'm getting into." Qrow says suddenly.
Reese was not remotely phased, instead he just lifted up his shirt and showed his scars.
"Show me yours and I'll believe you." Reese says calmly.
"Humph what did you do?" Qrow asks.
"Let me put it to you this way. I've dealt with the white fang on numerous occasions, hoards of grimm, and a deep cover operation that hardly anyone knows about, and I've looked into your records sir and it doesn't even scratch the surface of my record. So about that question of who would win in a fight I would win 10/10, would you like to continue." Reese said with a calm voice.
Yang at this point was on edge. She was shocked that Reese stood up to him and she knew that he could lash out at any moment, but instead she heard this.
"Well then I'll give him some information and see what he makes of it." Qrow says.
They then entered the office and saw Professor Lionheart sitting at his desk.
"Welcome, I'm sure you have traveled far." Lionheart says.
"Very. I'm going to get to the point. We need more huntsmen." Qrow says.
"Why?" Lionheart asks.
"I'm not at liberty to say." Qrow says.
"Well how can I give you reinforcements if you don't give me a reason." Lionheart says.
While Qrow and Lionheart are having a discussion, Reese was looking around.
Reese was watching how Lionheart was responding to Qrow's questions.
"Too many hand gestures, holding eye contact for too long, emphasis on certain words." Reese thought.
Reese was so lost in his thoughts that it took a tap from Yang to bring him back to reality.
"Reese let's go back." Yang says.
"Oh yeah sorry." Reese says.
The group made their way back to the hotel they were staying at and immediately got into discussion about what Lionheart told them.
"It's not possible that all huntsmen are on missions at the same time." Ruby says.
"Yeah I find that part to be very off putting." Weiss says.
"Children, I have known the man for a long time, he would never lie to me." Ozpin says through Oscar.
Yang then looked at Reese, from the moment he got back he put his helmet on and was silent the whole time.
"I think Reese has something." Yang says.
Then all eyes were on him but he didn't notice.
"Do you have a file on Lionheart? Winter?" Reese asks.
"Umm well we have something but it's not much." Winter says.
"Anything can help." Reese says.
"May I ask why?" Winter says as she sends him the file.
"I have a suspicion." Reese says.
"Humm very well report back what you find." Winter says as she hangs up.
Reese then looks up and sees that everyone was looking at him.
"What?" Reese asks with a perplexed look on his face.
"I know you were doing something, so what is it?" Yang asks.
"I was talking to Winter and getting some information." Reese says.
"What kind of information?" Qrow asks.
"On Lionheart." Reese says.
"Did you not hear what Ozpin said? He said that Lionheart was an honorable man." Ruby says.
"Did anyone not notice that he was lying?" Reese asks.
"How can he lie?" Pyrrha asks.
"Yeah how?" Jaune says.
"Did you notice he was moving his hands frequently?" Reese asks.
The group then thinks for a moment Ruby was the first to speak up.
"He did seem to move his hands a lot." Ruby says.
"But that doesn't prove anything." Weiss says.
"Yang when we were on our first date did I ever over exaggerate by using my hands?" Reese asks.
Yang then thinks for a moment.
"No you didn't." Yang says.
"In my training the one thing we learned how to do was to look for the subtle signs that someone is lying." Reese says.
"Like?" Ren asks.
Reese walks over to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water, then he puts it on the table and he sits down behind it.
"It can be as simple as an object that is right in front of them, it acts like a barrier, if it was to the right or left they are more open." Reese says.
"How about another example." Qrow says.
Well did you notice he put a certain emphasis on words and was repeating them?" Reese asks.
"Yeah he did." Yang says.
"There is one more thing that was hard to notice, and it was he was looking a certain direction." Reese says.
"Where was he looking?" Weiss asks.
"To his right. And when I left there was a closet in the corner and I don't need to tell you what he was hiding something." Reese says.
"What do you think he was hiding?" Ruby asks.
"I don't know but I would like to find out." Reese says with a smile.
"Reese what are you thinking?" Yang asks.
"Well I'm thinking about doing something that I was trained to do." Reese says.
"And that is?" Ruby asks.
"Infiltrating Lionhearts office." Reese says.

A/N I think I have mentioned this one time or another and that is if it's a boring chapter it takes a long time for me to write it out, but when it's an action chapter i can write it a little bit faster so thanks for your patience.
