Chapter 8
Atlas
Reese and Weiss spent the rest of the trip talking to each other, from what Yang could tell they were catching up.
"So what was the facility like?" Weiss asks.
"Well I can only tell you some of the details. But it's located in the mountains somewhere I don't know where. It was very nice to be there, the place is in a forest and if you were to stand on the roof at the right time you can get a great view of the sunset." Reese says.
"What's training like?" Weiss asks.
"Well my team always woke up at 4:30 in the morning but we didn't go out side at that time, instead we went to the chow hall and ate first, then we went back to the room we shared and got into out combat gear to go do whatever we are scheduled to do that day." Reese says.
"What kind of toys do you get to play with?" Ruby asks.
Reese looked confused for a moment then Yang chimed in.
"She means weapons." Yang says.
"Oh I got to use a lot of different types but my favorite is a laser that I use to "tag" a target then a few seconds later the target is gone and the jets that dropped the ordnance is flying away." Reese says.
"Oh wow that sounds awesome." Ruby says while jumping.
"We are here." Patty says over the intercom.
Reese then gets up and opens the door
What everyone saw was a floating island in the sky in one area but the smoke trails caught their attention and they looked down to see the industrial area of atlas.
"Was it always like this Reese?" Yang asked.
"No I have never seen it like this." Reese says back.
"Weiss?" Ruby asks.
"I have never seen it like this before. Looks like they expanded the production facilities." Weiss says.
Reese then looks to the left to see some aircraft approaching.
"Get ready for contact." Reese says as he puts his helmet back on.
"Why?" Yang asks.
"Well atlas is starting to slowly close its borders to keep the kingdom safe." Reese says.
"So why are you getting ready?" Pyrrha asks.
Reese didn't respond; instead he was about to make a call.
"Winter here." Winter says.
"Hi mom." Reese says with a smile.
"Hey how are you?" Winter asks.
"Oh I'm fine you know just got shot at and now I'm on my way to land in Atlas." Reese says.
"Where are you going to land?" Winter says as she runs out of her office.
"Platform 3 but I'm currently surrounded by aircraft and it looks like they are weapons hot." Reese says.
"Don't move! Stay put they won't fire unless you keep moving." Winter says.
Reese then stops the aircraft, and he takes his hands off the controls.
"Honey what are you doing?" Yang asks nervously.
"Wait for it." Reese says.
Just then the rest of the aircraft turned away and flew off to wherever they came from.
"Winter here come to platform three. my son I'll be waiting." Winter says.
Reese then took control of the craft and went straight to platform three to see Winter waiting for him.
Winter then watched the craft touch down and she waited and waited, then the door opened and out came Reese in his armor and he approached her. Now usually Winter is very formal when it comes to Reese but now she is going to try something new. She then walked right up to him with outstretched arms where she immediately pulled him in for a hug, and she held on tight.
Reese was in shock for the moment but he relaxed and returned the hug and they held on.
"That's new." Weiss says.
"What's new?" Blake asks.
"I've never seen my sister give that kind of affection to anyone." Weiss says.
"Well that's her son right there so maybe she is concerned for him." Qrow says.
The group then saw Winter kiss the top of Reese's forehead, then she walked over to the group.
"Welcome to Atlas well whatever is left of it to enjoy. Anyway ironwood knows you're here so if I were you tell him what he needs to know then I would suggest to move on." Winter says.
The group was stunned for the moment but Reese held his composure.
"She is right you know. I rather not be here any longer than we need to be." Reese says.
"Why do you say that?" Ren asks.
"Because I'm on the kill list and it can never be removed unless the target is dead or pardoned by the courts." Reese says.
"Why do you go to the courts and get the ball rolling." Pyrrha says.
"Hahahhahahaha! That's funny, the main reason I can't do that is the military owns the courts so it's a lost cause." Reese says.
"So what will you do?" Nora asks.
"Anyone who is going to harm me well I'm going to either knock them out or ahem remove them." Reese says.
Ruby then frowned at Reese but he didn't look back but Winter looked at Ruby and filled in the blanks.
"I ordered him to stay alive by any means necessary so he will follow that order regardless of what you tell him." Winter says.
Then Winter then looked at Yang and walked right up to her and took her hand and held her hand and smiled.
"Welcome to the family sister in law." Winter says.
Both Yang and Weiss were in shock.
"Sis sister in law?" Blake asks.
"Well its true Yang is married to Reese so she is now related to Weiss's family." Pyrrha says.
"Nice!" Ruby says.
"Don't get any funny ideas." Weiss says.
"Anyway let's get going." Winter says while gesturing to the car.
"Where are we going mom?" Reese asks.
Winter's heart skipped a beat when she heard Reese call her mom.
"To a safe house." Winter says.
Reese then reached for his military stick but Winter continued.
"A place that ironwood doesn't know about." Winter says.
Reese then relaxed and climbed in.
After a ten minute drive they arrived at a fancy hotel.
"Really? Mom what's this the minute we step in there they will ID me we are in trouble." Reese says.
Winter didn't hear him instead she approached the bellman.
"Operation 56." Winter says.
The bellman then pulled out a radio.
"All staff be aware we are hosting a VIP not a word goes out proceed with the lockdown." He said.
Then all of the staff secured the location and now the hotel was a fortress.
"We can enter the safehouse." Winter says.
"So this must be the class 7 safehouse." Reese says.
"You're correct only certain people can get in and ironwood is not on that list so he can't enter." Winter says.
"But you can?" Reese asks.
"Yep and only me." Winter says.
"So what's so special about this place?" Ruby asks.
"Well the staff for one is they are special forces so if the hotel is under siege they will fight back, secondly the glass is bulletproof it could stop Reese's 55 cal. That's all I can tell you" Winter says.
Ruby looks at Reese and he returns a shrug.
"Here are your rooms, enjoy your stay." Winter says as she leaves.
Reese and Yang enter their room to see it's a large area.
"Wow this is way too fancy for my taste." Yang says.
"Eh it's good not as good as Charles's estate." Reese says.
"What was it like?" Yang asks.
"It had stained glass windows, velvet couches, armor stands, a ballroom, and multiple rooms." Reese says back.
"Ah I see." Yang says as she plays with her hair.
Now when Reese sees that gesture he only knows it means one thing, she is feeling flirty.
Reese then grabbed her by the waist and brought Yang close.
"Oh look who is taking charge." Yang says with a grin.
"Oh my sweet wife I have learned a lot about you ever since we got married." Reese says as he dances with Yang.
"Well you have missed one thing about me." Yang says as she stops.
"What's that?" Reese asks.
"I get straight to the point." Yang says as she jumps on Reese and wraps her legs around him and starts to kiss him.
Reese was somewhat surprised by this but he was more surprised by the fact that she was guiding his hands underneath her shirt. That made his face red.
"Oh what's up honey? Never felt frisky?" Yang asks.
"Well no. I just didn't expect it." Reese says.
"Hummm can you do me a favor?" Yang asks.
"What's that?" Reese asks.
"Grab on and get ready for a wild night." Yang says as she tipped Reese on the bed.
