Chapter 14
Helldrop
Reese was both surprised and out of breath for two reasons. One he was surprised that his team is still around, number two they all tackled him and now he was on the ground.
"Guys…. get ...off…of ...me." Reese says.
"Nope we missed you we are going to catch up." Crystal says.
"Yang…...help." Reese said weakly.
"Naw not this time it's very amusing." Yang says with a smile.
"Come on. Weiss? Blake?" Reese says.
Both shake their heads.
Then Reese's team got off of him.
"Where have you been?" Jack asks.
"Why did you disappear?" Kathryn asks.
"What have you been doing?" Crystal asks.
Reese sighed at all of their questions.
"It's a long story." Reese says.
"We have time." Crystal says.
Reese just then remembered all of the things that have happened since he last saw his squad. Starting with the transfer to beacon, then the recon of beacon then doing good deeds to maintain his cover, then having fights among the students to see who is the best and in Pyrrha's case study Reese's fighting style, then came the dual with Yang and well Reese remembered the outcome of that dual, then the date, then the relationship with yang, then the truth of operation checkmate, Reese's defect to ozpin, next came the dance with yang where they kissed.
At that point when Reese remembered that part he shuttered since he is in front of crystal.
"What are we? Are we together?" Crystal's voice echoed in his mind.
Reese then turned on his foot and walked out of the room, after he left he activated the active camouflage, at the same time crystal was after him.
"Hey, get back here." Crystal says.
But he was gone.
"What just happened?" Weiss asks.
"I've never seen him act like that before." Jack says.
"I know why but as his commanding officer I won't say it." Winter says.
Meanwhile on the roof.
Reese didn't know how he got to the roof in the first place but he was there.
"Reese talk…." Patty says.
But Reese removed his helmet and he sat on it.
"No shit why didn't I think about that question. I'm married to Yang and now I'm going to tell Crystal the bad news. This is really bad." Reese says to himself through ragged breath.
Thump. Thump.
Someone was coming up the stairs, Reese then grabbed his helmet and jumped to a higher part of the roof where he couldn't be seen.
The door then opened and out came Winter and only her.
After she closed the door and barred it so that she could be alone.
"Reese I know you are here, I'm the only one on the roof with you. Please come out and talk to me." Winter says.
Winter then closed her eyes and waited.
She didn't have to wait long; she then opened her eyes and turned around to see Reese standing behind her.
"What happened back there?" Winter says in a soft voice.
"A problem. A problem I'm not ready to confront yet." Reese says.
"And what is it?" Winter says.
"Well before I left for Beacon crystal asked me if I wanted to date her, but I had to think it through. And well you know what happened." Reese says.
"Yes, your marriage to Yang." Winter says.
"Mummmhummmm." Reese says as he rubs his right arm.
"Well if it makes you feel better, I have noticed that she had a crush on you while you were in training." Winter says.
"No it doesn't, just makes it worse." Reese says.
"Sorry I said that. But Yang was after you when you left the room." Winter says.
"So was crystal. I hope problems don't arise from that event." Reese says.
"What do you mean?" Winter asks.
"I hope there won't be a conflict between them." Reese says.
"As in You hope there isn't a cat fight?" Winter says.
"That's the key word. Hope." Reese says.
"Now what are you going to do?" Winter asks.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing." Reese says.
Reese then removed the barricade from the door and went down the stairs.
Then Reese saw some guys run past him.
"Hey where is the fire?" Reese asks.
"Some blonde woman and one of the members of team 16 are fighting. We are going to watch. Hey guys wait up." Said the crewmen.
"Oh no." Reese groaned as he realized what's going on.
Reese then got to the sparing area and indeed there was crystal and yang fighting each other.
"Hey Reese you got to see how this blonde woman fights, she is really good." Jack says.
But Reese wasn't listening; he instead grabbed two stun sticks and ran right into the observation window. It shattered upon impact and he landed on the floor ready to punish someone.
Both women stopped fighting as soon as they heard the window shatter, and Reese got a good look at them.
Both had bruises on their faces and both were bleeding.
"Reese, this woman says your her husband. Is that true?" Crystal asks.
"And she told me you were going to date her. Is that true?" Yang asks.
Reese didn't answer instead said something else.
"I'm not in the mood to answer questions as of right now someone's life is on the line, now this will stop right now or I'll kick both of your ass's. Do I make myself clear?" Reese asks as he deploys the stun sticks.
Both women looked at eachother and back at a very angry Reese.
Yang then lowered her arms and backed away.
Crystal remained motionless.
"I don't want to get on my husband's bad side. Plus it's my sister's life on line." Yang says.
But Crystal had something to say.
"Humm look at that you backed down because Reese is here. What a coward." Crystal says.
Yang then stops and her eyes flicker to red then back to her normal color.
"Reese." Yang whispers.
Reese then leans in.
"Defend me." Yang says in a low voice.
Reese then looks at crystal.
"Say it." Reese says.
"Say what I'm right you know." Crystal says.
Apparently during his absence, something in her head got messed up and now crystal is trying to be a better woman than yang, by use of intimidation and mocking.
"Crystal I'm not going to ask again, say your sorry." Reese says with an edge to his voice.
"No." Crystal says.
"Last chance." Reese says as the stun sticks come to life.
"Bite me." Crystal says.
That did it.
Reese then cloaked and started moving.
Crystal didn't move at first she instead closed her eyes and listened, then she ducked. At that moment Yang could see the shimmer of Reese's cloaked arm swinging to hit crystal but it was clear he was going to miss. Then crystal backed away and simultaneously throw a punch at Reese where it connected, that caused the armor to decloak.
"Your stealth tactics won't work on me Reese I know how you work." Crystal says.
Reese then backed away.
"Patty change tactics." Reese says.
"Change to what?" Patty asks.
"Change to plan Pyrrha." Reese says.
"Done." Patty says.
Reese then crouched down to get ready to charge, at the same time crystal gets ready for the charge.
Now in order for Reese to win he has to get one strike with the stun sticks to win, and hopefully this plan will work if not well he is out of options. But the bulk of the work is in Patty she has to do her part precisely, if she is off by .00001 of a second then it's a failure.
"Come on Reese . Win this." Yang says.
While he did not give any outward signs that he heard her she knew he heard her.
"Come on Reese I didn't have all day." Crystal says.
Then Reese charged forward moving in a straight path.
"He is giving up." Crystal whispers.
As he got within 3.5 feet she was about to strike him to the ground instead something new happened.
When both of Reese's feet were off the ground his armor had a new feature on it, a booster frame.
BOOM! Reese then moved to Crystal's left as her arm missed where he was a second ago.
"What the!" Crystal says.
Reese then hit crystal with the stun sticks where they both discharged the electricity inside of them.
Crystal then hit the ground and was out like a light.
Reese then walked over to Yang and grabbed her by the hand.
"Come on, let's get that head injury looked at." Reese says.
"Umm ok." Yang says, a little stunned.
When they both got to the medical wing of the facility Yang took a seat on one of the empty beds, Reese then took off his helmet and gave it to yang to hold on to.
"Let's see what happened to you. Well from the looks like you got a surface scratch at least you have a matching scar like Weiss." Reese says.
Yang then laughed a little at that joke.
"So how were you able to defeat your teammate that fast?" Yang asks.
"Well I have been around her for five years so I had enough time to figure out what fight style she would use, but sadly from the looks of it she was not as precise as she once was." Reese says.
"She is going to hate you for that." Yang says.
"Eh probably but she has a job to do and she has to complete it personal feelings be damned." Reese says as he cleans the blood off of Yang's face.
"Ah!" Yang says in pain.
"Sorry deal with it for a second, and your done." Reese says as he puts on a bandage.
"Thanks." Yang says.
"Your welcome." Reese says as he cleans up.
"So now what are you going to do?" Yang asks.
"Prep for the mission." Reese says as he grabs his helmet.
"Please be careful and bring my sister back." Yang says as she kisses Reese.
"I will. You will be with Winter in the war room watching the whole op." Reese says as he kisses her back.
Yang then walks to the command room and waits for Winter but Yang didn't have to wait long, Winter then came around the corner with Blake and Weiss in tow.
"What your about to see is classified so when everything is said and done just don't talk about it." Winter says.
All the women then entered and the three of team rwby were blown away.
"Yang here is your seat." Winter says as she gestured to the chair.
When yang got behind the computer and looked at the screen it read "Agent Reese Alpha 1-1" it showed Yang everything from his heart rate to his armor status.
"When will the mission start?" Weiss asks as she sits down.
"The team should be boarding the aircraft in five minutes." Winter says.
"What are they going to be flying in?" Yang asks.
"4 Atlas long range stealth reconnaissance aircraft. The name of it is classified." Winter says.
"And they are going to land right?" Blake asks.
"No more like drop in." Winter says.
"And that means?" Weiss asks.
"I'm not going to spoil it you got to wait and see." Winter says.
Meanwhile on the tarmac.
Squad 16 is now walking to their respective aircraft they have been assigned to. Reese walked to the lead aircraft and talked with the pilot where he then got situated into the cabin behind the pilot's seat. Reese was expecting to sit in the copilot seat but he was 10 feet behind the pilot and he was laying down.
"Well this is going to be comfortable." Reese says with a hint of sarcasm.
"Squad 16 report your status." Winter says over the radio.
"Reese ready." Reese says.
"Crystal ready." Crystal says.
"Jack ready." Jack says.
"Kathryn ready." Kathryn says.
"Mission is a go. Launch." Winter says.
Just then Reese felt a sudden acceleration and a lift off.
"Wow this thing moves fast." Reese says.
"You are moving at Mach 2.5 right now at an altitude of 30,000 feet and climbing." Patty says.
"Boy I'm glad I have my helmet on." Reese says.
"Current altitude 50,000 feet." Winter says.
"Patty, where is my team?" Reese asks.
"They are behind you in a Diamond formation." Patty says.
Ok good." Reese says.
90,000 feet.
Then one minute later.
"120,000 feet. How does it feel to be at the edge of space?" Winter asks.
"Don't know I would like to look outside." Reese says.
"Your funny you know that right." Winter says.
Reese then rolled his eyes.
"I'm going to sleep wake me when we get there." Reese says.
Three hours later.
"Reese it's time to get up." Patty says.
And in an instant Reese then clipped his weapons to his armor and got ready.
"So how are we going to the OP?" Reese asked six hours ago.
"Oh your going to drop from space." Winter says.
"Oh man I'm scared shitless." Reese thought.
"Get ready." Winter says over the radio.
The last item Reese got on was his parachute.
"Ready." Squad 16 said simultaneously.
Just then the jets inverted.
"3-2-1 go!" The pilots said as the hatch opened.
It was silent too silent Reese and his team were falling but no sound of the rushing of the air.
"Estimated time of drop is 6 minutes enjoy this." Winter says.
Yang at the same time was looking at the live feed to Reese's camera.
"Look to the left and right will you honey." Yang says.
Reese then looks both ways left was nothing just boring but on the right the sun was barely peaking over the horizon it was a beautiful sight. Reese then looked back down and now he could see where they were going to land. The landscape was a dark purple hue to it.
"That place looks depressing." Kathryn says.
"Yep." Reese says.
Five minutes later the team pulled their chutes and landed safely.
"Squad 16 on the ground commencing rescue mission." Reese says as he takes point.
"So what now?" Yang asks.
"Cross your fingers and get a coffee. They might take awhile." Winter says.
