Jack helps her to her feet, and leads her down into the Hub. As they walk, he glances at her, "So, any ideas of how you could get back? Or how you even ended up here?"
Sophie looks down at the floor, and scuffs her shoe along the floor, "The last thing that happened, at least that I remember, is I shot the Master...then I woke up in an unfamiliar bed."
Jack raises an eyebrow, "You shot the Master?"
She doesn't respond, just continues to stare at the ground. "The only way I can think to get back is to go to St. Luke's University."
"I'm going to assume that that's important to your life. You think that'll help you then, Sophia?"
"Sophie," she corrects. "And, uh, yeah that's a pretty important place."
"Alright," he shrugs. "Let me go and let the team know where we're heading, I guess."
"I can wait in the garage if you want?"
Jack stops, and turns around, "Can you find your way there?"
Sophie smirks, "I know my way around."
"Right. Meet you there, I guess."
Sophie nods, and wanders over toward the garage. Even with her hands cuffed, it doesn't take long to insert the secret passcode, and enter the room. Jack walks in a few minutes later, and offers her a smile, "Gotta say, you knowing the passcode helps your case."
He proceeds to open the passenger door of the car, and help Sophie in. He rounds the front, siding into the drivers seat, and starts the vehicle.
"Jack, I know you don't know who I am, so thank you for helping me."
He smiles, "Clearly you trust me. You said I'm like a brother to you, so I think the Jack you know would help. Now. What's so special about St. Luke's University?"
"That's the Uni I go to, and theres a Professor there who can probably help me get home."
"Alright, Bristol it is." He pulls out onto the road, and Sophie stares out at the streets of Cardiff. "So, tell me some more about yourself," Jack says, turning a corner.
Sophie bites her lip, "I meet you for the first time a few years in your the future, and you must meet me somewhere in my future."
"That sounds complicated, but that's time travel for you."
The car fills with silence, and they don't say much more.
A couple hours, and a lot of questions later, the Torchwood car rolls up in front of the school. As soon as it's parked, Jack pulls the keys put and hops out of the car. He walks around to the other side, and pulls Sophie out, draping a jacket over the cuff. "This Professor, what's his name, and where's his office?"
"Uh, Professor Smith. It's on the other side of the building. I'll lead the way."
She starts off through the building, and Jack rolls his eyes, following after her. She walks down corridors like she's done it a hundred times before. She stops at a door at the end of the fourth corridor, and knocks. A thick Scottish accent tells them to come in, and Sophie pulls the door open.
She steps into the office, and smiles at the man behind the desk. The white-haired Scotsman raises an eyebrow at the duo, and steeples his fingers, "Jack, it's been quite a while since I've seen you."
Jack looks around the office, spying a large blue box in the corner, and a smirk crosses his face, "Doctor. Thought you didn't do domestic?"
"What brings you here?"
Jack pushes Sophie forward a small bit, "She says she knows you, and me." The Doctor studies her face, and the Captain continues, "Said that when she woke up this morning the world was different. Thinks it must be a parallel world."
The Doctor leans forward in his chair, and gestures to the seats across from the desk. Jack slumps into one, while Sophie takes the other, the jacket falling off her arms, revealing her cuffed hands. "So," the Doctor starts, and stares directly into the woman's eyes, "Who exactly are you?"
She sighs, "My name is Sophie McCoy." She then launches into the story of how she met the Time Lord.
He leans back in his seat when she's done, and turns to look at Jack, "You can take the cuffs off. I believe her."
"Well, you can never be too careful." He does as the Doctor asks, and unlocks the handcuffs.
Sophie rubs her wrists, as she smiles halfway, "Thank you, Doctor."
He nods, and smiles, "Now, to figure out how to get you back home."
