Author's Note: Well the second season of Freezing ended last work and I got to say that was a pretty good finale. If you haven't seen it yet, then I high recommend watching it.
Yes! I made the deadline for Christmas Eve and I kept my promise of a 5000 word chapter. It's amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it, this chapter being proof of that. I got ups and down last chapter, and I worked hard to try to correct them this time. So please enjoy.

Chapter 4: Entrance Exam Part 2
Unedited Version/ Will Be Edited for Mistakes Later
"Sister Margaret, please reconsider. This is completely unexpected, and in my opinion reckless."
The Sister just looked at the monitor screen with a blank expression. On screen, dozens of students, both Pandoras and Limiters, filled into the stands of the school's area. The last couple weeks had been nothing but studying for them. With the announcement of a mock battle taking place in the arena, every student was more than willing to take a break to watch it.
Directly behind her, Yu-Mi and Elize stood side by side. Both glanced nervously from Sister Margaret to the screen than back at the headmistress. They hardly ever questioned the nun's orders or ideas, but this time it was an exception. Putting a Limiter who had only been at West Genetics for two days and having a top Third-Year Pandora like Arnett team up with him, seemed like a horrible idea. Their opponent for the match did make things any better either.
Sister Margaret slowly turned to face the duo and simply nodded. "I can understand your skepticism towards this pairing and battle." She turned back towards the screen before continuing. "But I assure you that this will not have an ill outcome. You both have viewed his profile and information personally, am I right?"
"Yes," Elize spoke up, "But there were lots off missing information regarding his past and family history. For all we know, he could be a juvenile brought off the street."
"I'll have you know, that Ichigo Kurosaki is actually the nephew of Dr. Kisuke Urahara." Both teacher froze and as their eyes slowly widened. The Kisuke Urahara? The mysterious doctor rarely, if ever, made a public appearance, but his work was well known among the Genetics community. "Also," the Sister continued, "I'm seen the boy's power in person, and I am fully confident that this match will be worth seeing."
Both Elize and Yu-Mi turned and looked at each other, before letting out a sigh. "Very well ma'am." they replied.
Ichigo leaned back with a bored expression on his face, as he watched the Swiss Pandora pace back and forth. When he had first met Arnett, back at the pool, he hadn't payed her much mind because of the situation. Now was a different story, based on her body language and expression of her face, he could tell she was about as ecstatic about this as he was. Which was to say not very much. She finally stopped pacing and turned to look at him, hands on her hips.
"I still can't believe this!" she stated. "Who ever thought of this is either brain-dead, or has some kind of grudge against me."
"You know it was a random drawing right?" Ichigo questioned. He scratched the back of his neck, a habit he had developed whenever he was different about something, and stood up straight. "It wasn't my idea, and I get that your pissed off. You already have a Limiter and I'm just some newbie."
"Exactly! If we're in battle, I'll be able to handle the other Pandora just fine. That'll change when her Limiter activates his Freezing field, and since I can't do an Erienbar set with you, I'll be stuck and open to attacks."
Ichigo just shrugged. "Well...what do you want to do than?"
Arnett cursed under her breath and rubbed her wrist nervously. "It's like we can just give up this match. All the others students have gotten really pumped up for this mock battle, and I'd hate to disappoint them. If it were me in the stands, I'd be really pissed off if someone played a no-show."
Ichigo studied the red-head's eyes, which showed some signs of sadness, and let of a tired sigh. It was his entrance exam after. If anything, he should at least make this as easy as possible for the Pandora standing in front of him. Should he tell her about his unique ability to produce a Freezing area without an Erienbar set? Ichigo mentally shook his head. No, that would just complicate things now. He would wait till the battle before deciding on what to do.
"Alright than." Ichigo held out a hand, which Arnett looked at with a confused look. "Let's at least not disappoint the crowd. We should, at the very least, give them a good show." He gave her small smile of encouragement. "What do you say?"
Arnett stood still for a couple of seconds, her expression unreadable, but slowly a smile formed on her lips. She gave a small laugh and reached out to shake the Fourth Year's hand. "This crazy and with probably end badly for us, but you're right. We'll make this mock battle something the whole student body will talk about for weeks."
The two were so caught up in the moment, that they'd forgot they were still holding hands. As soon as she realized it, Arnett quickly released the orange-haired teen's hand. A faint blush appeared on her cheeks.
Ichigo looked around awkwardly and cleared his throat. 'What's up with that.' he thought. 'Why does she look like I caught her doing something wrong?' Ichigo quickly changed the subject. "You ready then?" He nudged his head towards the lift that would take them up to the arena.
"Yeah," Arnett nodded her head quickly. "Let's go."
"This sucks!"
Kazuya's sweatdropped as he watched Morrison grit his teeth in angry. When news that his Pandora partner was teaming up with new guy for a mock battle reached him, he was less than happy about it.
Kazuya had happened to see the Third Year Limiter sitting in the front row, and was planning on talking with him. Now he wished he hadn't. The Limiter's sour attitude made Kazuya feel like he was the one that Morrison was taking it out on. But he could understand how he felt though. If Satilizer every teamed up with another Limiter besides him, he'd probably be mad too.
"I mean come on!" Morrison continued on his rant, not noticing Kazuya scooting farther away from him. "The only way for a Limiter to perform a Freezing field is for him to do a Ereinbar Set, and that only if the Pandora performed a Baptism with him."
"I know you're right man," Kazuya finally spoke up, "but I'm sure this whole thing was set up for a reason. I've heard this mock battle was set up to help us relax a little. With semester exams and everything, we've needed some serious R&R."
Morrison snorted in disgust. "I don't care. Arnett is my Pandora and no other Limiter should even be paired up with her. We've already had a Baptism."
'Damn.' Kazuya thought. 'Morrison is really protective of Arnett. I guess I really can't blame his for acting that way though. He's probably really into her, and see's any other guys around her as a treat.'
"Kazuya-kun! We finally found you!"
The Japanese Limiter turned towards the voice just in time to be embraced in an iron hung by a certain blue-haired Pandora. The said Pandora, squealed happy as she hugged her soul mate in a tight hung. Behind her, Satilizer wore a jealous frown as she looked sternly at the pair. She had seen this way too many times for her liking.
"Oh...hey Satilizer." Kazuya greeted nervously. He looked at Rana. "And Rana. You said you were looking for me?"
"Yeah!" Rana released her hold on Kazuya and sat down in the seat next to him. Satilizer took the seat beside Rana, avoiding eye contact with either of them. Kazuya sighed in embarrassment. That was something he would have to clear up later.
"Anyway," Rana continued on. "I stopped by you dorm room to look for you when I hear about the mock battle, but you weren't there. Then I ran into Satilizer in the hallway and asked her if she knew where you were at? She said you were probably hiding from me. Is that true Kazuya?"
Oh boy. Rana face had suddenly become very serious and if he didn't tread lightly he'd be in hot water. No pressure.
He quickly changed the topic. "So what do you thing of this mock battle. Not knowing who's taking place in it makes it even more exciting right? Thankfully she took the bait.
"It is. Everyone is in high spirits and I just really want to see who's fighting."
As if on cue, the loudspeakers roared to life and the voice of Sister Margaret filled the stadium. "Attention students of West Genectics. The mock battle will now be starting. Introducing fourth ranked Third Year student, Arnett McMillan and new transfer student, Ichigo Kurosaki."
Everyone's attention turned towards the right side of the arena, as the side door slid open and out walked Arnett and Ichigo. Both had a serious look on their faces and they seemed to radiate confidence. Arnett took the lead and walked several paces ahead of Ichigo, who kept his distance. He had both hands in his pockets and with his black uniform, strong build, and orange hair, he was easy distinguished from any other Limiter.
'So that's him' Kazuya studied the orange-haired and nodded. Kaho was right, this Ichigo guy did stand out from any other Limiter he'd seen before. With his tall slender build and orange hair, he could have been easily mistaken for a delinquent.
"And their opponent from East Genetics," Sister Margaret continued. "West Genetics newest Pandora Cathy Lockheart."
"What!" Kazuya, Rana, and Satilizer turned towards the opposite side of the area, just in time to see the God Speed of the East herself walk out with her Limiter. She had her usually friendly smile on her face and waved a hand out at the stadium.
"I knew she was coming here," Kazuya stated. "but I didn't thing she'd be in this mock battle. I don't thing anyone saw this coming."
"I know one thing."
Kazuya jumped at the sound of Morrison's voice. He'd forgotten he was there.
"If she's not able to form an Ereinbar Set," Morrison continued, his voice gloomy and low. "Than this'll be over in less than a minute."
"Well damn."
She hadn't expected this at all. Maybe another Third Year student, but not the God Speed of East Genetics. They may have had a chance against a normal Pandora, but Cathy was ranked number five in the world. With her speed, the outcome of this match had already been answered.
"Yo. What's the problem Arnett?" Ichigo's question brought the Pandora back to reality.
"What do you mean "what's the problem"?" She shot back. "It's Cathy Lockheart from East Genetics."
"Who?"
She turned and looked at him in disbelief. "You don't know who Cathy Lockheart is? She's the God Speed of the East and one of the top five strongest Pandoras in the world."
Ichigo raised an eyebrow. "There's a Pandora ranking system?"
The red-head face palmed. "We really are screwed."
"Are both parties ready to begin?" Sister Margaret's voice boomed over the loudspeakers. "This will be a three-minute match. The last Pandora standing at the end of the match wins."
"One moment!" Arnett yelled, as she waved up towards the viewing platform were the teachers sat. "I need to have a few words with Cathy first!"
Ichigo raised another eyebrow in question as Arnett called over to the green-haired Pandora. "Long time no see Cathy. I hear you were transferring to West, but I didn't expect you to make this kind of entrance."
The girl blushed in embarrassment. "Well I didn't expect it either. I arrived earlier today and Sister Margaret asked me to participate, and well...I couldn't say no."
"At least she chose me and strong opponent. I want to see first hand that famous speed of yours." A sadistic grin spread slowly across her lips. "I'm going to come at you with everything I have and I don't want you to hold back in the least. Got it?"
Cathy looked taken back by this, but smiled and nodded. "Right."
Arnett raised a thumbs up towards the platform. "Alright we're ready!"
The large digital clock above the arena began it's countdown. Both Pandoras took their stances and summoned their Volt Weapons. In Arnett's hand appeared a long body-size scythe. She gave it a small swirl to balance it before regaining her stance. Cathy's Volt Weapons materialized on her arms, two arm-mounted blades, which she raised in a defensive position.
'So that's a Pandora's Volt Weapon.' He looked at Arnett's scythe and made a quick glance over at Cathy's Volt Weapon. Their unique shape reminded him of a Zanpakuto in Shikai form. Each individual's weapon was shaped differently. 'If a Pandora's Volt Weapon is like a Soul Reaper's Zanpakuto then...' As if by instinct, Ichigo took a defensive stance. 'I need to be ready to use my powers in a moments notice.'
5...4...3...2...1. Start.
Both girls disappeared in a flash of blue only to reappear at the center of the arena, Volt Weapons locked. Cathy quickly broke contact and made a stab towards Arnett's mid section. The blade went straight through the girls abdomen.
"Arnett!" Ichigo shouted. It couldn't be over already.
"What's your problem?"
Ichigo's eyes widened as he looked over his shoulder. His mouth went slack. Arnett stood right behind him with a bored look on her face, her scythe resting idly on her shoulder.
"I just saw you get run through." Ichigo finally replied. How the hell was she still standing.
"Take a closer look." She point back at Cathy. The Arnett standing before Cathy faded out of existence, leaving a confused Ichigo and Cathy. But the green-haired Pandora was quick to catch on.
"Accel-Tempest. I didn't know you knew that technique."
Arnett smirked. "I'm full of surprises." She used Accel to appear in front of Cathy, who only had seconds block the scythe. With the two blades locked, Arnett leaned closer. "When I said don't hold back I meant it." The sadistic grin was now in full view. "Show me what makes you number five in the world."
"Well she's having fun."
Seat on the top row of the stadium Elizabeth and Attia, along with Ingrid and Creo, watched as Cathy and Arnett exchanged blow after blow. It was a repetitive pattern for a while. The two clash before disappearing with Accel, only to reappear and clash weapons again.
"She's got that crazy look on her face," Creo acknowledged. The sadistic states that the Swiss Pandora got in whenever she got in a fight was in full gear. Using a No-Interval Double Accel, Arnett reappeared behind Cathy, who made a jab at the red-heads after image, and managed to land a blow on her back. Cathy stumbled forward from the blow, blood dripping from the deep cut.
"So the Mad Dog was able to cut her." Attia smirked. "That's only going to make her more excited." The Italian's smile quickly faded. " But she's completely forgotten able her other opponent."
"I got you know!" Cathy looked above her to see Arnett sailing down, her Volt Weapon raised above her head. "You're mine!"
"Now Kyoichi!"
"Freezing!"
Arnett stared wide eye as she slammed into ground with the force of a train. She shook her head, trying to clear the stars before trying to stand up. That's were her movement ended. The entire arena was a enveloped in a blue Freezing field, courtesy of Cathy's Limiter Kyoichi. The Limiter had his blue glowing hand extended out, producing the field at full strength.
"Dammit." Arnett groaned. Her whole body was locked up, as if the gravity had multiplied by a thousand. She fought in vain against it, but finally gave up and stayed still. A sad smile made it's way across her lips. 'For a minute there, I thought I could win this. I'd completely forgotten about her Limiter. It was just her and me battling it out.' She managed to shake her head sadly. 'To bad it's over so quickly. I was having fun.'
"Get up!" Arnett was brought out of her thoughts by the sound of Ichigo yelling. She turned her head to the side and saw Ichigo rubbing his wrist . He gave her a stern look and continued. "We've got this. This Freezing field," he moved his arms and legs much to the shock of Arnett, Cathy, and Kyoichi. How was he able to move with the field up? He should be immobilized like Arnett. But here was, moving his body like there wasn't a thing wrong.
"How the hell are you doing that?" she asked.
"Doing what?" the orange-haired Substitute replied as innocent as can be.
"Don't play dumb! Your moving inside his Freezing field without a problem!"
He shrugged. "I wasn't completely honest with back there."
"What do you mean?"
"I probably should have told you what makes me different from other Limiters." He took a knee and placed his palm firmly on the ground. "My powers as a Limiter make me stand out, but don't worry. This will be over in a few seconds."
Arnett felt a small blush rise on her face. She didn't know why, but his words sounded so sure. They seemed to be back by some kind of force that made her know that what he said was true. If he said it would be over soon, than it was.
Ichigo help his right hand flat on the ground as it started glowing blue. "Freezing!" As soon a he said it, a blue waves erupted along the ground from where his hand had been. The as it moved, Kyoichi's Freezing field shattered where ever it make contact with Ichigo's. The field spread over to Cathy, who stared in awe at the quickness and power she felt from it. As soon as it reached Kyoichi, the Limiter yelped in pain before being thrown backwards into the arena wall.
"Kyoichi!" Cathy yelled to her fallen Limiter.
"Now Arnett," Ichigo called. He still had his hand planted on the ground. "Take her out. I'm keeping an open space around you body so the field won't stop you. End this now."
Arnett hoped to her feet and started towards the now frozen Cathy using Accel. "You don't have to tell me twice. I don't know how you're making this field, but I don't really care right now." She raised the Volt Weapon above her head for a final slash. "This time you're mine!" Cathy's only reply was an eye widened expression.
"Match Over!"
Everyone gasped. Above the arena, the countdown clock show ZERO in bold red letters. Sister Margaret's voice boomed through the loud speakers. "The mock battle is over. Because of the time run out this has been declared a draw. Give a hand to our combatants." I stadium erupted into cheers and claps.
Ichigo stared eyes wide open. Arnett's scythe had stopped millimeters from Cathy's chest. Both her and Arnett seemed to be frozen in place, their actions halted in the middle of something important. Ichigo lifted his hand off the ground, the Freezing field disappearing in an instant, and ran over to the stone still Arnett. He grabbed her shoulder and shook it.
"Come one," he said scornfully, "snap out of it."
The red-head blinked as if she'd been in a daze before lowering her weapon. Cathy's breathed a sigh of relief as both girls unemployed their Volt Weapons.
The green-haired girl looked over her should and gasped before running over to her unconscious Limiter. Ichigo stared at the pair and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He didn't know that his field was going to cause him to crash into the wall.
"Is he alright?" he asked.
Cathy looked up from Kyoichi. " I think so. I think he's just unconscious."
"Hey Kurosaki."
Ichigo turned around to face Arnett. "Yeah, what." He looked at her just in time to feel her fist land smack in the middle of face. The force sent the orange-haired teen stumbling back a few steps. "What the hell was that for!"
"You didn't tell me you could make a Freezing field without activating an Erienbar Set!" she snapped back. "If I'd know that, than we could have come up with a better plan, but instead you kept that little secret to yourself." She crossed her arms and pouted. "I'd like you know my Limiter had a special power before going into battle."
"Your Limiter?" Ichigo questioned.
Arnett looked at him confused before realizing what she said. "I mean my one time Limiter." she quickly corrected, her face burning red. The Swiss Pandora waved it off quickly. "We made it through the fight and that's all that matters."
Ichigo nodded and smiled. They did didn't they. He looked down at his hand and then at the crowd of Pandoras and Limiters that filled the stands. 'I've shown them my Freezing field now. How are they going to start treating me? I didn't do something that would be considered freaky here." He rubbed his forehead and sighed. It'd been a long day. All he wanted to do now was go to bed.
"That was incredible." Rana looked down at the students in the arena. Paramedics had arrived on scene and where moving Kyoichi out of the battle site by a stretcher, Cathy running along side it as they moved.
Ichigo and Arnett soon too left the arena, but not before waving to the crowd. Well, it was more of Arnett waving and Ichigo standing back, his hands in his pockets, just nodding at the crowd.
"He's just like you Kazuya." Rana said, excited beyond words. "He produced a Freezing field with out performing an Ereinbar Set!"
Kazuya simply nodded, not really paying attention to Rana. His mind was to busy trying to understand what had happened. Ichigo Kurosaki had created a Freezing field on his own just like he did.
The Limiter rubbed his chin thoughtfully. But how did he do it? There was only one way he'd be able to find out. Kazuya gulped. He'd have to ask Ichigo himself... in person...
"That should do it." Kisuke said happily as he typed in the last codes into his computer. "This is the same coordinates that were set when Ichigo had his...eh accident." He chuckled nervously at the last part. "Are you all ready?"
Sitting in chairs with arm devices and headsets on, Chad, Orihime, Rukia, and Uryu each gave their response.
"Mhm." Chad nodded.
"I am!" Orhime said cheerfully.
"This better work." Rukia said grimly.
"You're telling me!" Uryu shifted uncomfortably in his chair. "I'm still wondering if that idiot is worth putting ourselves at risk."
"I'm hurt Uryu." Urahara grabbed his chest as if he'd gotten hit. "Do you really lack that much confidence in me? I've check and re-checked and then check again. I'm sure this will be painless and will work. " He fiddled with his laptop some more. "I mean what's the chances of me having another repeat? Am I right?"
"Just don't kill us Kisuke." Rukia stated in more than asked for it. If he was right, which was usually more times than he was wrong, this would send them to where ever Ichigo was and then they would be able to find a way back from there. Seems legit.
"Aright let's fire this baby up." Kisuke gave them the thumbs up before walking over to a control panel. He pressed a few keys and the whole thing lit up like a Christmas tree. He quickly punched a few more keys just a the panel started smoking.
"Uh..Mr. Hat and Clogs. Why is it smoking like that?" Chad swallowed.
"Everything's alright Mr. Sado." Urahara's reassurance didn't hold up well as he began frantically pressing keys all over the panel. "It's just a minor short out. Nothing to worry about. Everything is under-." Is sentence was cut off as the control panel exploded, filling the room with black smoke.
"Ah dammit." Uryu coughed. "Everyone alright."
"I'm fine." Orihime replied. She fanned the air in front of her and coughed.
"Yeah I'm alright too." Rukia said. "I can't believe that didn't even leave a scratch. Urahara?"
"I'm still here." The smoke clear, revealing a disappointed Kisuke. His hate was gone and his face was covered in smut, but he looked unharmed. Well, maybe except his pride. He looked over a the burnt control panel and examined it. "Looks like I feed it too much power. I got overloaded and couldn't use the power fast enough." He looked at the group and his face dropped. "Where's Mr. Sado?"
Everyone's attention turned to the empty chair that Chad had been sitting in. Sure enough it was empty, with not trace that anyone had been sitting there previously.
"What happened to Chad?" Orihime asked, her hands over her mouth. "He's gone."
Sweatdrops rolled down the shop owners face. "Oh no...not another one.." He'd lost another teenager.
"Uhhh..." Chad groaned. He automatically reached up and rubbed his forehead. As sharp pain spread through his head whenever he touched the center of his forehead. He grimaced. "What happened..."
The large Mexican slowly opened his eyes to a star filled night sky. Ignoring his sore head, Chad sat up and took a look at his surroundings. He was in a forest, that much he could make out. He was sitting in a small clearing with tall trees surrounds the edges. I low breeze made the giant shiver before lifted himself up.
"Mr. Urahara's machine must've worked, but where are Rukia, Orihime, and Uryu?" The Fullbringer looked around one last time before he started walking the direction his feet had been facing. He didn't know why, but he had a gut feeling that he need to go in that direction. Like the feeling animals get to migrate; instinct.
After several minutes of walking, Chad finally could make out a break in the treeline. He picked up his pace a little and before he knew it, he was out of the woods. He'd expected to find a road, but instead a large campus filled his eyes. Even with the lack of light, he could still make out several buildings thanks to the lamp lights that lit up the side walks. He could make out several small buildings, that surrounds a huge building that he guessed was the main building. The sight of civilization relieved him, but there was something else that made him really excited.
"There's no doubt about it." He smiled. "That defiantly Ichigo's spiritual pressure."
Author's Note: Yes! Chad has arrived in 2065. I had the idea to bring him in a couple of days ago and I couldn't shake it. He's never gotten the attention he deserved in the anime, but by God he's getting it in this story. I thing his Fullbringer powers would go rather nicely in a Freezing story. Also, do you want Chad to have a romantic interest. If so, Private Message me or leave in a review who you want it to be and why. Should he be given any new powers, or are his Fullbringer powers enough?
I don't know how well the fight scene turned out, but I hope it was at least pretty o.k. I'm still working on my writing style and trying figure out what's the best way to do it. Trying to describe fights is the hardest. If you got any advice I'm open to suggestions.
If you go to my profile, the last poll results are open for you to see. Chiffon, Elizabeth, and Satelizer made the top three again, but how Windy May got so popular is a mystery to me.
Anyway, I hope you all have an awesome Christmas and I may have another chapter out before New Year's Eve. If not than I'll have one out before January 7th. Also keep an eye out for my Highschool of the Dead story I'll be publishing soon. Merry Christmas everyone.
Please leave a review and/or follow/favorite. Later everyone!
