Hey beautiful people.
After almost a month of emotional turmoil, I'm happy to say that I think my files have been saved!
Let me walk you through this tumultuous journey:
1. I told my dad about the blue screen of death, and he said everything was probably gone.
2. We called my computer company's diagnostic tech support people, and they couldn't fix the problem.
3. We had someone come and replace the motherboard, and he told me my hard drive was fine.
4. Replacing the motherboard didn't fix the computer, so we sent it to the company so they could fix it at a warehouse.
5. they said my computer was super messed up, even though I took really good care of it.
6. they said my hard drive was almost completely screwed, and they had to replace it if I wanted to salvage the computer.
7. They sent the hard drive back with the computer and said that someone may be able to get the information off of it.
8. The guy at the tech place I went to said I needed a recovery key or something, and I didn't even know I had one of them, let alone where to look for it.
9. He said if I took it to a professional who could hack around the recovery key, it would be thousands of dollars.
10. He also said that there was only 4% capacity left on the drive, and after that, there was nothing anyone anywhere could do, because it would be "utterly and irrevocably dead". Yes, I quoted Twilight.
11. So I had a mental breakdown in my car and basically accepted the fact that my life's work was completely gone.
12. BUT THEN GOD SAID I GOT YOU AND MY SUPERHERO DAD FOUND THE RECOVERY KEY.
13. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE GUY THIS MORNING WITH THE KEY AND HE SAID IT WORKED I'LL TRY TO SAVE YOUR STUFF. So I said "screw my schoolwork save my books". And he did.
14. SOMEHOW HE SAVED EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR TWO SONGS AND A COUPLE PICTURES.
15. EVERYTHING.
And I am SO UTTERLY AMAZED at God's intervention on the behalf of my mental well being because I have been a MESS for the past month.
All that to say, I'm going to start writing again soon! I've been working on a couple of the stories from memory and what Iv'e posted on a Google Doc (There's No Place Like Home, Ohana, and First Rule). So I'm probably going to start slow (because I have emotional whiplash).
But I wanted to let you know that we're back in business! (Or we will be tomorrow when I pick up my files). Thanks so much for all your wonderful and supportive comments and suggestions, and I'll reply to all of them as soon as I'm able. Thank you so much!
