Story Ground Rules:
1. Dragon Ball characters and Naruto characters will be on equal footing. Weather it's that Dragon Ball characters are weaker, or Naruto characters are stronger. It does not matter.
1A. As such, this means forms will be equivalent. Yes, I am aware Super Saiyan and so on have confirmed multipliers. Look, if you want to apply those here, be my guest. By rule 1 being a thing, it means a forms within Naruto will equate to those at various stages.
1B. There will be one exception in this chapter, but he should be the only exception.
2. The Clan Restoration Act is a fan created concept that I am NOT implementing here. Essentially, any Dragon Ball character gets one pairing, maybe two if their prior partner has died.
3. This story is set in the world of Naruto. By putting Dragon Ball characters in this world, it by definition means different experiences and circumstances will shape the characters you know. I will try my best to include as much character as possible into any Dragon Ball character I use, but you cannot expect perfection given circumstance.
Elemental Nations: Land of Fire, Day…
A sleeping baby boy, with black spiky hair and lack of clothing, descended to earth cocooned within Chakra. Said cocoon landed within a clearing of a forest before dissipating. The fact that it was gone seemed to have roused the baby as he began to cry.
It wasn't long before a man with dark eyes and combed back brown hair happened upon the child. He wore a blue martial artist gi underneath a Konoha flak jacket. He also had a red bo staff on his back and a head band denoting him as a Leaf Shinobi.
"Oh, a baby!" The man exclaimed as he stepped out into the clearing. "Where did you come from?" He picked the baby up which ceased his crying. "Well, I can't leave you out here, can I?" He brought the baby closer. "Shall I take you to my village?"
The baby kicked him square in the face, but he took it in stride with a good-natured laugh. "My, you're certainly a feisty one. My name is Gohan Sarutobi, and from now on you'll be my son. Though, what should I name you?"
He thought about it for a moment. "Oh, I know." He lifted the boy above his head as the perfect name came to mind. "I'll call you Bardock! You like that?" The boy smiled at that before Gohan walked off with him. "Alright, you'll grow up nice and strong with me."
Konoha Streets, Morning…
(9 Years since Bardock was adopted/Bardock 9 years old)
Bardock was dressed in a blue gi and had a red bo staff on his back as he made his way to the academy. Along the way, he came upon four of his classmates. Though their names escaped him, three of them were guys who seemed to have cornered a female.
While her name escaped him, Bardock at least knew she was Hyuga by her featureless white eyes. She was also average height with a slender build, light-pale complexion, and shaggy black hair. Her attire consisted of a long sleeved, lavender top with black pants.
"If you're really a Hyuga, show us your Byakugan."
"If you won't, then don't even look at us."
On top of being scared, the Hyuga was starting to tear up.
"Yeah, your eyes are creepy."
"I bet you're some kind of monster, aren't you?"
The girl backed up from them as a fair-skinned boy with blue eyes and spiky, blond hair arrived within a nearby alleyway. He wore a simple white suit of clothing. After assessing the situation, he opted to be on standby since he had a good idea what was about to happen.
As the girl began to cry, Bardock sighed at himself before dashing down the street. He slammed a fist into the first of the trio and kept it there to force the guy's head into the ground. That was enough to swiftly knock him out. While the remaining two were stunned, Bardock capitalized.
He grabbed the second student's head and forced it down while bringing his knee up. This resulting knee to his face sent the second student crashing to the ground unconscious. The third student finally had the sense to act as he attempted to punch Bardock.
The Sarutobi whirled around and positioned his staff just right. Solid wood, coupled with Bardock's stance, resulted in the guy hurting his hand. Bardock then unsheathed his staff and smashed it down over the guy's head to knock him out.
He then sheathed his staff before looking at the girl. "You alright?" She nodded shyly. "Okay then." He looked away from her and started moving along. "I don't expect thanks because I won't be doing this again."
The only reason he stepped in was because of the lessons his father taught him. Though, don't get Bardock wrong. He was in the academy to one day be a Shinobi, and as a Shinobi, he'd serve Konoha. The Sarutobi simply didn't think every minor altercation needed someone to intervene.
Besides, the girl was a Hyuga and in the same class as him. Even though he hadn't paid attention to most of the class, he knew the Byakugan was a powerful Dojutsu. Surely that meant this girl was at least competent enough to handle those jokers.
"W-Wait." The girl called out, stopping him. "You're Bardock Sarutobi, right?"
"Yeah." Bardock stopped and looked back at her. "You are?"
"Gine Hyuga." After getting her name, Bardock said nothing and pressed on to the point he couldn't have heard what she said next. "Thank you."
Bardock took the turn towards the academy and was almost immediately joined by Minato. "Just how long were you watching?"
"About as long as usual." Minato smiled. "Despite the tough front you put up, you're a good guy."
Bardock merely scoffed which made Minato chuckle. Their classmates were confused by how these two could be friends, but if anyone else had bothered to spend a bit longer with the Sarutobi, they'd get it. Bardock was a bit rough, but he had a good center.
Random Training Ground: Time Passes, Evening…
Bardock didn't mind training with his father, but there were times he preferred to go over things alone. Hence, grabbing up this training ground daily. Today, he wasn't alone for long. His training kicked in telling him as much.
Bardock firmly looked at a grouping of trees. "Who's there?"
"I-It's just me." Gine walked out with a rather large bento. "Gine Hyuga." Bardock approached her silently. "I've noticed you tend to eat a lot, so I thought you might like a meal while you train."
"I don't want any." Bardock crossed his arms and turned away from her. "Get lost."
If his dad knew how he was treating a lady, he wouldn't be happy, but Bardock could hardly care less in the moment.
"B-B-But…" Gine tried timidly.
"How much clearer do I got to be!?" Bardock yelled, scaring her a little. "Beat it!"
Gine was tearing up as she backed away and set the bento down. "I'll just leave it here…"
She then turned and scurried away into the brush. Once she was gone, Bardock's stomach growled causing his gaze to fall on the bento. He picked it up and opened the box only for the smell to make his stomach growl more.
Come the next day, despite how mean Bardock had been, Gine found the resolve to try again. Upon arrival with another bento, she found Bardock doing pushups. Her gaze soon turned to the bento she'd left with him yesterday and her mood brightened since it was spotless.
"He ate it!" Gine beamed as her gaze turned back to Bardock. "Maybe he just didn't like receiving it directly."
With that thought in her head, she scurried over to the empty bento and exchanged it for the fresh one. The Hyuga then retreated into the brush thinking she hadn't been noticed; however. Bardock had spotted her and simply didn't care.
"What a weird girl." Bardock muttered.
This routine repeated for a month before, one day, Bardock wasn't training. In fact, he had been waiting for and approached her which made the Hyuga think she'd done something wrong. That faded as he took the bento from her and opened it before grasping a rice ball within
"Thanks." Bardock stated simply.
He then ate the rice ball in front of her which made Gine beam. Bardock had a seat against the nearest tree and proceeded to keep eating. Gine's smile widened as she took a seat next to him. The Sarutobi took a rice ball from her bento and passed it over, surprising the Hyuga.
"If you're not planning on eating it, say as much and give it here." Bardock commented gruffly.
Gine stared at him as her smile turned warm, and she went about eating lunch with Bardock. While he was rather rough around the edges, the Hyuga knew this Sarutobi had a warm center. It appeared all she needed was a little patience to see it herself.
Konoha: Sarutobi Compound, Night…
(24 Years since Bardock was adopted/Bardock & Gine 24 years old)
"I don't know why you bothered showing up." Bardock retorted frustrated. "Prior discussions might be different in wording, yet they amount to the same answer. Honestly, this should have ended the moment we spoke the language of strength, and I came out on top."
"Bardock." Gine gently rested a hand on his shoulder. "Remember, our boys are sleeping."
"I understand how you feel son, but don't let it cloud your judgement." Gohan added.
Bardock grunted in acknowledgement to his father and wife before turning his full attention to one Hiashi Hyuga. He has long, black hair with the same featureless white eyes as his wife, both had been part of the same clan. He wore traditional, loose-fitting robes.
"I understand your frustration and would willingly abide by the terms; however, the elders simply do not see it that way." Hiashi sighed. "To appease them, I must, at minimum, meet with you every time something changes."
"After this meeting, I will condone no other." Bardock stated firmly. "I have entertained the Hyuga long enough. MAYBE they'd have a say if the only options presented at the time weren't putting that blasted seal on Gine or forcing me into your clan.
I simply presented option three and beat you into the ground to sever her ties. Nothing that's happened changes that. It doesn't matter that Raditz was born with those eyes five years ago. As for Goku and Turles being born recently, neither have them."
"I know." Hiashi assured him. "No matter how barbaric the clan views the agreement now, they agreed to it prior and should honor it." He sighed again. "Truthfully, what's had them pushing more at the birth of your twins is how Granolah slipped through."
"Considering how troublesome your clan has been to me, I say good on him, and I'm glad to have been an inspiration." Bardock crossed his arms. "The teen used his prodigious nature and earned his place among the forming Twelve Guardian Shinobi."
"No matter how my son feels, the fact that two Hyuga have looked for ways out should be a sign." Gohan voiced. "Rather than casting your gaze out, those that remain should look within to fix the problems that led to this."
Before anything further could be said, a powerful roar rang out across the village. This presumably awoke the three children, though only Goku and Turles were crying. The four adults in the room could not believe what they were hearing, but Bardock was the first to stand.
He rushed to the door and threw it open letting them catch sight of the Nine Tailed Fox before it swiped out its claws at some nearby buildings. The debris were sent hurling into the Sarutobi compound. While it didn't land far enough to hit their home, it'd still hit others.
That wasn't even the worst of it. Debris of the building the fox had smashed happened to contain a sealed jar, which did not survive the destruction of the building. The moment this fact registered; it was too late. The jar being smashed had released what was sealed inside.
A surge of red Chakra fired into the sky, and once it dissipated, they were left with a red humanoid figure. He wore dull purple torso, wrist, pelvis, and ankle armor. This creature, Janemba as they called it based solely on it being all the monster said, was enraged.
He began going on a destructive rampage. The first/last time Bardock ran into this monster was during the Third Shinobi War. He'd attacked all sides, and no one on the battlefield had been able to match him. Only through sealing had Janemba been stopped.
Bardock wove hand signs. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Another of him appeared before rushing off to prepare another jar.
"Bardock…" Gine stated as she came to the door.
Bardock glanced at her. "Work with father and Hiashi to get our children to the nearest shelter."
He then dashed at Janemba without waiting for a response, confident Gine would handle it, while ignoring the rampaging tailed beast. If he wanted any hope of pulling off another sealing, he had to focus everything on the battle at hand and leave the Nine Tales to likely Minato, he figured.
"Everyone, get out of here!" Bardock roared to his clansmen before quickly weaving through hand signs. "Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Jutsu!"
Water from nearby sources collected and surged at Janemba in the shape of a dragon grabbing the monster's attention. Just before it fully obscured him, the monster registered who was attacking. The one who sealed him prior.
Janemba held out a single hand and produced a portal which was just large enough to take the water. Through that portal, Bardock could see his back. He now factored in that his own Jutsu would come at him from behind into his next move.
Bardock withdrew four kunai, which were already fitted with explosive tags. While he was still obscured by the water, the Shinobi threw them around Janemba. Not even a moment later, Bardock's Jutsu passed through Janemba's portal and was heading for his back.
At the last second, he replaced himself with a log, indicating his use of the Substitution Jutsu to get out of there. Janemba took some pleasure in the presumed death of his sealer before reverting to anger as the man's voice could be heard.
"Here I thought you'd have learned I'm not easily taken out." Bardock lept back to where he had been standing. "Guess you didn't reflect on what happened, huh?"
Janemba grit his teeth angrily. "Janemba."
Just like last time, this monster wasn't much of a talker. Any time Janemba did speak, it'd only say what they had come to assume was its name. That, coupled with the fact there already was a one tailed beast, led to the conclusion this couldn't be one.
Though, like them, it did seem to be a manifestation of pure Chakra. A rather aggressive and destructive manifestation. Then again, considering the Nine Tails Fox was devastating Konoha now, perhaps they were more linked than initially assumed.
Bardock now calmly walked up to and stopped just inches before the monster. "For all your destructive tendencies, you're not stupid." Janemba quirked his head at that. "Which is why you should know I will seal you again."
Janemba growled at that before playing into exactly what Bardock wanted. It punched the Shinobi across the face, and rather than brace for it, he let it happen. Said punch sent Bardock flying as his nose began to bleed.
Ultimately, it ensured Janemba wasn't paying attention to the kunai still around his feet as Bardock made the hand sign. "Detonate!"
The explosive tags all went off at once, entrapping Janemba within a powerful explosion. Bardock had hoped this would at minimum stun the monster, but all it did was make Janemba even angrier as he stepped out of the smoke cloud.
The monster picked up one of the destroyed kunai and red Chakra ran over it. The weapon became a purple hilted, red bladed sword. A Transformation Jutsu, and one Bardock knew wouldn't simply be disrupted like most any other could be.
Janemba's gaze suddenly settled on a rather large group of people attempting to move quickly. Gine held Goku and Turles, who were crying loudly, Gohan held Raditz's hand, and Hiashi was in the back. His gaze settled on the two small ones who looked like Bardock.
While Janemba couldn't speak anything beyond his own name, he was versed in the concept of offspring. While he did want to kill the sealer, Janemba was a creature who would love to see him suffer first. As such, he targeted the two children and dashed at the group.
Bardock noticed this as he quickly moved to stand and dash after him. "JANEMBA!"
He yelled the name as a warning to Janemba not to touch them, and to inform the fleeing group that something was wrong. While all three of them did hear this, Hiashi, Gine, and Raditz understood the problem since they had their Byakugan activated.
Raditz's range was far less than the adults' and Janemba was coming up too fast for someone as young as he was to act. Hiashi rushed past Gohan to get to Gine. She saw this along with the quickly approaching monster and two children in her arms.
Gine made her decision and took advantage of the opportunity Hiashi presented by shoving Goku and Turles into his arms with all her might. This sent her former clan head stumbling back from her at the same time Janemba had already pulled back his sword.
"Gine…Gine…GINE!" Bardock shouted internally.
In that moment, everything seemed to slow, even as Bardock knew he was moving his fastest in a desperate attempt to make it. He didn't even come close. The blade sliced diagonally through Gine before both parts fell to the ground. Gohan and Hiashi froze.
Raditz stared on in disbelief as his eyes watered. "M-Mom…"
Goku and Turles seemed to cry even louder. As for Bardock, he slowed down before ultimately coming to a stop and focused intently on his now dead wife. Janemba merely took everything in and reveled at the pain he seemed to have caused the sealer.
Bardock began to shake and growl as he felt angrier than he ever had in his life. "You bastard…" This was a new tone that caused Janemba to turn towards him. "You took…my wife…."
He shook and growled with greater intensity. Lightning began to cascade down around the whole compound and was coupled with an intense wind.
"You will pay!" Bardock roared.
His hair flashed yellow while his eyes flashed turquoise. Hiashi, Raditz, and Gohan looked on in shock, the twins continued to cry, and Janemba was interested. The hair and eyes flashed once more before he screamed to the heavens, and they changed completely.
Bardock then moved the last few feet, faster than he moved any time prior in this fight. It caught Janemba off guard as he slammed his elbow into the monster sending him flying through the wall of the compound. The sword it'd been holding clattered and changed back to a kunai.
"Dad…" Raditz stated terrified and with tears falling.
"Raditz, go with your grandfather and Hiashi." Bardock was enraged, but he had to control it. "Get to the nearest shelter. Be the bigger brother Goku and Turles need."
Raditz went wide eyed as he turned his gaze to his still crying brothers. His mother gave her life just to protect them, and he knew she'd have done the same had he been in that monster's line of sight. Now, father was going to do everything he could to take Janemba down.
Both his parents were strong in different yet similar ways. By proxy of being their son, that meant he had that same potential. Right now, his brothers, grandpa, and father needed him to utilize it. He couldn't make things harder by being scared.
Raditz nodded, doing his best to be brave like his parents. "R-Right."
At this point, his shadow clone returned with a new bottle while Janemba came plodding through the hole his body created, ready to attack again.
"All of you, get going now!" Bardock yelled.
He snatched the bottle from his clone and dispelled it before rushing Janemba. No matter what, that monster wasn't getting close to his family again. Janemba saw him and grinned before rushing to meet the Shinobi. They both clashed elbows dead center at the distance between them.
Raditz, Gohan, and Hiashi took this as their cue to get out of there with the twins in hand. Janemba noticed, but in his moment of distraction, Bardock kneed the monster in the gut making him bend over. He then lept up and landed a powerful kick sending the monster through the wall.
Bardock then wove hand signs. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
This time, two Bardock's appeared before all three surged after him. They were intent on entrapping the monster before the real Bardock would reseal it. While he had no idea what this change in appearance was, perhaps a bloodline, he could feel the power.
The Shinobi planned to put it to good use. The three Bardocks found Janemba laid out in the middle of the streets, so they formed a large triangle around it with the intent of no longer holding back anything to conserve Chakra. At this point, it was all or nothing.
The real Bardock wove through hand signs first. "Lightning Release: Four Pillar Bind!"
Janemba stood as four large pillars formed up around him. Before he could move to attack any of the Bardocks, he was bombarded by powerful lighting entrapping him, if even for a moment. Though Bardock knew it wouldn't hold long, that's where the next part came in.
One of the clones had woven his own hand signs. "Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop!"
Before Janemba could overcome the lighting surging through him, a portal opened above spewing forth a large amount of mud. It fell and coated the whole area within the four pillars. This included encasing Janemba as well.
The original Bardock then wove more hand signs. "Lightning Release: Sixteen Pillar Bind!"
Twelve more pillars were created and formed up with the prior four to create a giant oven like structure.
Now, the last clone wove his hand signs. "Fire Release: Fire Pottery Jutsu!"
Powerful flames were created within the structure drawing out agonized screams from Janemba. When the fire died down, the earthen structure crumbled. All that remained was a street coated by and seemingly a monster entrapped within dried mud.
The original Bardock then lept down to the ground and approached the entrapped Janemba. An eerily similar looking monster peaked out form the nearby alleyway. Given that things resilience, he wasn't convinced, in the slightest, that this had been enough to put it down.
Turns out Bardock was right to think that. Before he could initiate the sealing technique, Janemba suddenly blitzed out from the nearby alleyway while gripping another blade, likely another weapon he'd found as there was no shortage of discarded ninja tools.
"What!?" Bardock exclaimed in shock.
He attempted to retreat while his clones lept off their respective roofs and attempted to reach him. All three were just to slow as Janemba thrust the blade clean through Bardock. In that moment, his hair and eyes returned to normal while blood spewed from his mouth.
His clones stopped in shock. Janemba laughed as he could…Suddenly, the golden hair and turquoise eyes returned. Bardock firmly grasped the monster's arm and pushed forward, letting the sword thrust threw him all the way down to the hilt.
Once there, he fully wrapping his arms around Janemba and held him with all his might. "You two!" He was calling out to the clones. "Seal him now! Do whatever you have to!"
The Shadow Clones immediately acted on that while Janemba began a desperate struggle to free himself; however, Bardock was not about to let him go that easy. The first clone rushed in to aid him while the second prepared to use the Sealing Jutsu.
The first clone's arms were awash in wind energy as he lept up, cupped his fist together, and swung down with all his might. "Tornado Hammer Fist Explosion!"
Bardock braced himself to hold them both up and managed it ensuring Janemba's head took the full blow with no reprieve.
At this point, the second clone was ready as he pushed out his arms. "Mafuba!"
The first shadow clone rushed past Janemba and snatched the real Bardock up, sword still embedded within him, before jumping to the side. He was just in time as the green energy the second shadow clone sent washed over Janemba. He roared out, enraged, as his body swirled.
Soon enough, the Shadow Clone did the motions and pushed that energy into the bottle before dispelling from the strain of the technique. The real Bardock, sat up nearby, immediately pushed the cork into the second clone's hands.
"DO IT!" Bardock yelled, causing the clone to rush over and pushed the cork into the bottle completing the seal. "Now, bring it to me." The shadow clone did just that, firmly planting it into the real Bardock's right hand. "Alright, now release!"
With his free hand, he made the sign to release his last clone before firmly grasping the bottle in his right hand. The last thoughts going through his mind being of his family as his body began to shut down. Between the injury and strain of that technique washing over him, his body was done.
"Minato, you better have dealt with that damn fox." Bardock's breathing was lessening as he slowly began losing his grip on life. "Father, look after my kids…Raditz, be a good big brother…Goku and Turles, don't die to soon…Sons, all three of you, grow big and strong."
Bardock's hair and eyes returned to normal before he slumped forward. Not even a moment later, the life left his eyes, yet his hand remained firmly gripped around the bottle containing Janemba. Unfortunately, the dead just didn't make the best guards.
The shadow of what appeared to be a large venus flytrap appeared before Bardock's body. A moment later, it vanished, and the bottle was no longer within the dead Sarutobi's hand. The only bright spot seemed to be that thing not unleashing Janemba on the village again.
Alright, let's run down my decisions. Firstly, no tail because no Ozaru transformation. Being judged for rampaging is on Kurama which reflects to Naruto; however, this does not exclude a potential Ikari Form. What was that Chakra Cocoon Bardock arrived in? I left it purposefully ambiguous because I didn't want to lock in an explanation. I thought of pinning it on Shibai Otsutsuki, but there isn't a lot known about him. If/when I make it to the Boruto era, I'll likely lock something in.
I went with Bardock arriving instead of Goku as a way to set up Raditz and Turles as characters. With the way I decided to introduce a spiky black-haired child, had I gone with it being Goku, it'd mean no Raditz or Turles...at least, neither being related to Goku. Yes, I do know Turles isn't related to Goku in the Tree of might, but Naruto(The series) doesn't really have many positive sibling relationships, so I decided to fix that.
Gine is more or less a way to give Raditz something unique from what I'm planning on giving Goku and Turles. As for Janemba existing, I'm not ruining anything on what he is here, but I will say he is the exception to the strength rule. After all, it did take Gogeta to beat him in Fusion Reborn while here a Super Saiyan Bardock could at least do better in keeping up here. If you have any further questions or concerns, review and pm me.
I've written this because New Story seems to be the only thing I can really access on my end. I don't know if it's me or this website, but I cannot access any of my stories to update them. The last one I could access was The Machine Hero:Generator Rex on the 24th. Additionally, I learned two of my stories were off my page, and only one was in the Recovery section. The completely missing one is Fairy Tail Saiyan, which was my second attempt at crossing over Dragon Ball into another world. This means this will be my third attempt as people aren't receptive to someone reposting a story.
