Authors Notes: Its sequel time folks, and thank you to those who followed Voltron Frozen Defender for being patient with me. Now just to clear something up, this sequel doesn't take place during Frozen 2 thats a story for later down the line. The timeframe takes place within season 3 of Legendary Defender, so Kieth is now at the helm of the Black Lion. In seeing season 3 I felt like Kieth didn't get many episodes as team leader before Shiro/Kurons return in the Journey, and according to the series he'd been missing for a duration of a week. So I thought a lot can happen in that time and I had ideas for the Frozen crew during Kieth's time as leader.
In finding ideas for this I stumbled across the series Once Upon A Time and its content about Frozen which gave me a huge amount of ideas and some elements of Frozen 2 shall be included as well to help bridge the gap in some mysteries left unsolved in the last story. The time frame is Season 3 of Voltron Between Hole in the sky and the journey, two weeks after Frozen Fever.
But for now enjoy!

Six years ago: Arendelle:
It is a calm and quiet night in the kingdom of Arendelle as the Northern Lights whip and flicker in the midnight sky. Below lay the castle itself and in one of the castle bedrooms, a young Anna and Elsa play in a small snow mound building a couple of snowmen on the floor. The two were giggling and having fun. Just then King Agnarr and his wife Queen Iduna opened the door to see their daughters playing. The two couldn't help but smile.
"Okay you two its time for bed." Iduna said to her daughters.
"Yes mama." Young Elsa said.
"So what were you two building?" Agnarr asked.
"We were building snowmen, but I wanted to try and make a snow lion." Young Anna said as she climbed on her bed and pointed to the small snow lion she made.
"Well thats some impressive work, almost lifelike." Agnarr joked.
"Papa, will you tell us a story?" Young Elsa asked.
"Yeah tell us the story of the knights and lions." Young Anna insisted.
"Oh Anna, you and your sister have heard it a hundred times?" Iduna laughed with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah but it's our favourite one." Young Elsa said.
"Okay okay, provided you can pay attention." Agnarr said with a chuckle, and with that the two princesses stayed quiet and listened carefully as they cuddled up to their mother as their father began the story.
"Once upon a time long ago during the reign of your grandfather King Runeard, there came a day unlike any other…."
Many years ago:
In Arendelle all was quiet and the people were out and about buying food off the stalls on this nice summers day. Then all of a sudden high in the sky a large blast of light appeared startling everyone. When they looked up they couldn't believe what they saw…
"One day from lands afar five brave knights came to Arendelle, who all rode with great and powerful Lions." Agnarr explained.
The scene reveals the lions of Voltron landing on the shores of Arendelle and emerging from them were five armoured figures clad in black, green, red, yellow and blue armour and they were greeted by the King himself and his young son Agnarr.
"These five knights were travellers from distant lands seeking enlightenment and discovering new horizons." Agnarr explained.
Young Agnarr looked to the five knights and saw their alien like features especially the appearance of Zarkon, Blaytz, Grygan and Trigel whilst the red knight Alfor looked almost human like himself.
"These knights were strangers to our land as we were to them…" Agnarr the Paladins and King Runeard met and he offered their leader Zarkon the hand of friendship. Zarkon accepted that hand and they shook hands as allies.
"….They assured us no harm and they offered us friendship and we accepted." Agnarr said to his daughters.
Later the Paladins were exploring Arendelle with Runeard and his son Agnarr, Grygan explained about his local cultures and Trigal was all but fascinated with the history of this land that held many mysteries. Zarkon meanwhile had built a strong friendship with the King as did Alfor as fellow rulers and Runeard learned of both their kingdoms. Blaytz meanwhile was enjoying himself showing off his archery skills with his Bayard bow and arrows.
"We learned more and more of them everyday, the leader of the knights and his right hand the Black and Red knights were both kings in their own lands." Agnarr said.
"Knights can be kings?" Anna said amazed.
"Yes Anna, should they choose, but the Red knight was from an enchanted land and an alchemist learning the mysteries of the land we stand on." Agnarr explained.
As Runeard and Zarkon further discussed Alfor then noticed the young prince looking curiously at the lions of Voltron and looked up at the Red Lion. Alfor approached the young prince and explained to him of the lions significance.
"The lions they rode on their travels were truly magnificent and majestic beings of great strength." Agnarr explained. "The Red Knight showed me that there was more to these lions than first appeared."
"Were they magical lions like me?" Young Elsa asked.
"No Elsa, they possessed no elemental powers, but they all shared the same life force as you or I, and had a sacred bond to their knights that could not be broken." Agnarr explained to his eldest daughter.
Suddenly they felt a sudden vibration in the ground and heard the distant screams. The Paladins and royals headed to the edge of the cliff face and could see that the kingdom was under attack. They were being attacked by alien spacecraft that were clad in dark green and the ship itself was covered in bladed spikes.
"Then one day our kingdom was attacked from an evil force that came from the same lands the knights hailed." Agnarr explained in a dramatic fashion. " These beings wanted domination over our land. But the knights resisted…."
As Runeard and his son helped to evacuate their people to the castle shelters the Paladins fought off the invaders who were clad in plated dark greenish grey armour. Alfor used his broad sword to slash at the invaders as Blaytz fired arrow after arrow from his Bayard bow. Trigal used her bladed spear to slice apart the invaders piercing their armour. Zarkon and Grygan used their respective Bayards to fight the invading force the Galran emperor slashed at them with his sword and Grygan slammed his staff into the coming forces.
"…They fought with all their effort and resolve making sure that we all got to safety." Agnarr said.
Young Agnarr fell behind in the evacuation and tripped to the floor. He suddenly found himself surrounded by the invaders. They were about to execute their prey, all seemed lost until Alfor leapt in and cut down the invaders where they stood. Alfor helped the young prince to his feet.
"You should get to safety Prince Agnarr." Alfor advised. To which the prince nodded.
"The Red Knight saved you?" Young Anna asked.
"Yes for if not for him I wouldn't be here." Agnarr explained.
Soon the battle took to the skies as the Paladins flew their lions and attacked the incoming fighters. The lions used their jaw blades to slice through the incoming invaders and Trigal used her lions vine cannon to wrap and crush the incoming fighters. Black and Yellow attacked the main ship. Black swooped in and formed its transcendent wings on its back and phased straight through the mother ship and blasted the inside of it as it did so.
Far below Agnarr and the rest of his people watched through the smoke as the lions battled the invaders. Then suddenly five pillars of light rose from the smoke of the battle and came together in a blinding light. The light faded and something slashed through the last of the invaders craft with great power and strength. Young Agnarr couldn't believe what he had seen. In the smoke he could faintly make out the shilloete of a giant titan with large wings and glowing yellow eyes.
Present Day:
The scene fades back to the present day as King Agnarr finished his story.
"It was that day that I witnessed the great power the knights lions possessed." Agnarr explained. "and they were honoured as heroes to our kingdom."
The two young princesses had wide eyes of amazement by the story their father had told them. Anna just took a breath before she spoke again.
"Wow papa that was amazing!" Anna said amazed.
"Yes it certainly was." Agnarr chuckled.
"Were these knights with you when you went to the Enchanted forest?" Young Elsa asked.
Iduna looked to her husband unsure whether they should know about that. But Agnarr nodded to her saying it was okay. "Yes they were with us on that very day, and when I became king they sadly had to depart."
"So where are the knights now?" Young Elsa asked.
"I do not know Elsa, but wherever they are they are protecting the weak and vanquishing evil wherever it may hide." Agnarr said to his daughter. "But should Arendelle ever be threatened again, these valiant knights vow to answer the call to defend us once more."
"Wow" Young Anna breathed.
"Now its time for bed you two." Iduna then said and so she tucked her youngest daughter in first, then moved to tuck in younger Elsa as well and sat by her bed side as her husband kissed Anna on the head.
"Do you think we might meet the knights someday mama?" Elsa asked her mother.
"Who knows maybe someday you might." Iduna answered with a smile as she gave her daughter a kiss on the head.
"Do you think the red knight might be like me?" Elsa asked before nodding off to sleep.
"Maybe Elsa, maybe." Iduna said silently as she and her husband left their daughters bedroom and let them drift off to that peaceful realm of sleep.
Elsa looked to the window and wondered if the story was really true and if maybe one day that she may one day meet these knights. She also wondered if she could maybe meet someone like her.
Six Years later: Three weeks ago: Arendelle
A fire blast flies past the kingdom of Arendelle the source is the Fire Robeast sent by the sinister Emperor Zarkon of the Galra Empire. Its opponent is the Legendary Defender of the Universe Voltron supercharged by armour comprised of Ice. The warrior attacks with a blast of ice from the Red Lions mouth, which hits the beast in the chest. The beast growls in pain and lets loose a wave of fire from its arms. Voltron ducks to avoid the flames and charges towards the beast.
The wave of fire flies from the battle and hits a nearby mountain hitting it near the cold surface. The heat spread and inside a small cave was a large sheet of ice in the rock wall. All was silent, suddenly the wall cracked and the ice began to glow with light until finally it explodes. From the mist a figure was rising from the ground. The mist cleared to reveal a woman approximately Elsa's age wearing a similar ice dress except hers was older with a cloak that reach down to her feet a collar covering the back of her head with shoulder pads and light blue sleeves. Her hair was black and had pale skin wearing a small tiara made of ice with blue eyes.
The woman stirred from consciousness and looked around her surroundings inside a cave and looked at the ice wall she came from. "Wh… I… I'm free?" She breathed. She stood up to regained her footing and proceeded to exit the cave. She looked out to see the forest and the kingdom of Arendelle in front of her.
"Arendelle" She breathed.
Suddenly she heard an explosion from above and saw it was a ring of fire exploding from the sky it was the Fire Robeast exploding in a supernova, falling from the sky were five glowing lights in the colours of violet, green, red, blue and yellow. Though she was on the ground she recognised something familiar. Then a flood of memories returned to her eyes visions of a light fleeing from a forest encountering five mysterious figures with giant lions, and an image of someone wearing red Paladin armour using a mysterious symbol sealing her in ice.
From these memories she could only say one thing. "Voltron" She breathed in contempt.
Suddenly her hands began to swirl with magic, and as she raised them they were revealed to be small snowflakes flurrying around her she had ice powers. The storm passed and as it cleared she was gone.
Three weeks later: Present day:
In a distant corner of space far far away The Castle of lions flagship of the destroyed planet Altea flew in silence. Suddenly from afar a wormhole opened in front of the castle and from it flew the blue and green lions of Voltron who returned from a mission on a distant planet.
On the bridge stood Coran, Hunk, and Lance who strangely was not flying the Blue lion. The bridge doors then opened to reveal Pidge clad in her green paladin armour and with her was none other than Princess Allura except she was in Paladin armour clad in pink.
"Well we just liberated another planet from the control of the Galra." Pidge said happily.
"Great that means we have more recruits for the coalition." Hunk said.
"Yes in just two weeks many have begun to rise against the Galra." Allura said with pride.
Several weeks had passed since the Paladins had left Arendelle on Annas Birthday and succeeded in their plan to defeat Zarkon eventually vanquishing the power mad tyrant in the wake of this many planets have begun to rise against their Galra oppressors following the example of Voltron. However this did come at a price.
Allura looked around the castle bridge and noticed one of the Paladins wasn't in the room. "Wheres Kieth?" She asked and the room just went quiet as everyone looked with mild expressions.
"He's in the hanger" Lance said plainly. Allura sighed knowing why Kieth was down in the hanger.
Hanger bay:
In the hanger Kieth stood before the Black Lion in his Red Paladin suit, however he looked up to it in sadness. In the wake of Zarkon's defeat the Black Lion was de-powered and upon bringing it back to the castle it was discovered to be empty with no sign of Shiro Paladin of the Black Lion. Kieth knew what Shiro's absence he and Shiro were stranded on a planet after their first battle with Zarkon Shiro was hurt and he said to him.
"Kieth if I don't make it out of here... I want you to lead Voltron." Shiro's voice echoed in his mind.
Kieth thought he must have been hallucinating however, when meeting the Blades he was dead serious about Kieth leading the team in his absence if anything should happen. He didn't think anything was going to happen, but he was wrong.
"Why do I keep seeing you in my dreams Shiro? Are you trying to tell me I'm not the leader you were." Kieth then materialised his Bayard however it wasn't red it was coloured in black. "Don't worry Shiro I already know that." He said to himself looking down in doubt.
"Kieth" Called a voice he turned to see Allura standing in the hanger.
"Allura, what is it?" He then asked.
"We just returned from freeing another planet from the Galra." Allura answered.
"Oh good" Kieth said as he was about to leave the room until he felt Allura's hand on his shoulder.
"Kieth, I know you miss Shiro we all do, but remember the mission Zarkon maybe gone but the Galra Empire is still out there and Voltron is the only thing that stands in their way." Allura explained as Kieth listened. "You are the Black Paladin now, the team needs you Voltron needs you we can remember Shiro by fighting in his name."
Kieth looked to Allura still disheartened but knew deep down she was right, and he knew Shiro would say the same thing.
"Kieth Allura" Called Coran's voice on the intercom "Your needed on the bridge we've picked up something!"
"We're on our way up" Kieth said dismissing Allura as he left. Allura however couldn't help but look with concern about Kieth she knew he had just accepted a huge burden and he was trying to handle it in his own way, but there was something else he had neglected to tell everyone, why they didn't go back to a certain kingdom after Zarkon's defeat.
Castle Bridge:
Kieth and Allura had just arrived on the bridge seeing everyone gathered around the holo-map of the universe.
"Whats going on?" Kieth asked.
"Well the castle just picked up a strange energy signature several quadrants away from our current position." Coran explained.
"Whoa look at those energy readings." Hunk said in amazement.
"Wait there's something familiar about the readings?" Pidge said analysing them from her control station. She compares the readings to the Paladins past encounters and she realised something.
"Hold on, these readings seem consistent with the dimensional rip that brought us to Arendelle." Pidge said.
"You sure Pidge?" Allura asked. "Yeah no doubt about it" Pidge said showing her findings.
"Hey maybe we could pay them a quick visit see how things are…"
"NO!" Kieth snapped interrupting Hunk leaving everyone surprised. Kieth then took a moment to calm down.
"Pidge can you confirm this." He then asked.
"Yes it's similar but I don't know how it's possible." Pidge then answered.
"Okay set a course and we'll go take a look." Kieth then said simply.
Other-side of the Galaxy:
A wormhole opens in a distant galaxy with a bright blue nebula The Castle of Lions emerges from it in front of it lay a cluster of asteroids surrounding a nearby planet. On the bridge The Paladins stood at their stations, Kieth in Shiro's former station and Lance in Kieth's former station, whilst Allura maintained her station piloting the castle.
"Well heres the signals origin point" Pidge said from her station.
"But there's nothing out here?" Lance asked.
"Its coming from deep in the asteroid belt." Coran said looking at the trackers.
"Okay everyone to your lions we'll go in and investigate, Coran keep a look out incase the Galra show up" Kieth said.
Emerging from the castle were the five Voltron lions Kieth now piloting the Alpha Black Lion, Lance in the temperamental Red Lion, and Allura in the Blue Lion whilst Pidge and Hunk maintained their place in the Green and Yellow Lions. Their helmets were now closed with only a blue visor covering their faces like they would to breath in toxic atmospheres.
As they flew Lance pressed some buttons on his holo console re directing the coms. "Guys you there?" Lance asked from the Red Lion.
"Yeah we're here Lance" Hunk replied.
"Okay I've redirected the coms so Kieth can't hear us" Lance said.
"Good so is it me or does Kieth seem a little edgy lately?" Hunk asked.
"Yeah I've noticed that too ever since our mission on Thaserix." Pidge agreed.
"Yeah but its more than that, every time one of us brings up Arendelle, Elsa or Anna Kieth just snaps at us" Hunk then added.
"I have noticed but I don't understand why he didn't want us to go back to Arendelle after Zarkon's defeat." Allura said from the Blue Lion.
"I know I mean I get we had a lot going on what with forming the coalition and the whole finding a new Paladin for Black, but still." Lance then said.
"I guess we'll just have to ask him when we're done." Hunk said.
Lance then patched in the comms as the Lions flew into the asteroid belt finding the source of the dimensional signature. Behind an asteroid they find something they didn't expect.
"What the heck?" Lance breathed. They looked to see an asteroid completely covered in ice its nearly the size of the Castle of Lions.
"Look at that." Hunk said.
"I've never seen an asteroid that size before?" Pidge agreed.
"What happened here?" Kieth asked.
"I don't know we should land and take a look." Allura recommended.
"Okay but be cautious." Kieth agreed.
The lions soon landed on the asteroid thankfully their weight didn't impact the stability of the asteroid. The Paladins dismounted from their lions and using their armour jetpacks landed on the asteroid in the zero gravity. Pidge used her Bayard blade to cut away some of the ice on the asteroid to analyse it. Her Bayard looked different as it was now white and green with her blade split in two sharp curves on the edge of it.
"This ice isn't natural." Pidge said from the scans. Allura looked at the ice and felt it with her palm, she could sense something from it.
"I can feel something, almost like quintessence." She breathed but this feeling seemed familiar to her somehow.
"Coran are you seeing this?" Kieth said contacting the castle.
Coran looked at the asteroid from the Castle of Lions scanning the asteroid. "I'm seeing it still figuring it out, the ice didn't happen naturally." Coran said "The heat from the surrounding area doesn't make it possible for ice to form."
"Then what caused it?" Lance asked on the comms. The scanners on the bridge then lit up indicating something on the asteroid.
"Hold on, this can't be right?" Coran said in surprise.
"What is it?" Kieth asked on the comms.
"This doesn't make sense but I'm detecting a biorhythm on the asteroid." Coran said in surprise.
On the asteroid Pidge checked her gauntlet scanner and scanned the asteroid to confirm Coran's theory.
"He's right there is a life sign here and…" Pidge looked to what seemed to be a cave in the ice. "Its coming from that cave" She finished.
The Paladins slowly proceed inside the cave and they saw there was ice everywhere. It was silent like the cold devoid of everything in sight. They moved quietly as they didn't know about the structural safety of the ice asteroid, and didn't want to risk a cave in.
"Helloooo" Hunk called but the cave started to shake.
"Hunk shhh!" Lance whispered.
"He's right this place is unstable any loud noises could cause a cave in." Pidge whispered.
The Paladins proceed quietly deeper and deeper into the asteroid. "Brr it's getting cold down here." Lance said as he was feeling the cold snap of the cave interior.
"Then turn your suit heaters on." Kieth said.
"They are on!" Lance argued.
"I guess the cold is starting to affect our suits." Hunk guessed. They kept going and the signal gets stronger and stronger until they arrive at an ice wall.
"We're here." Pidge said but all the other Paladins could see was an ice wall.
"But here is just a dead end?" Lance asked "Pidge you sure this is where the life sign is coming from."
Pidge double checked her scanner whilst Allura approached the ice wall. "Yes it is" Pidge confirmed.
"But there's no-one here?" Hunk said. Allura then touched the ice wall and suddenly she felt something.
"Wait, Pidge is right I'm sensing quintessence there is someone behind this wall." Allura gasped.
Pidge scanned the wall and could make out an image behind it. "She's right there's someone in there."
"Well can we melt them out?" Lance asked.
"Hunk use your Bayard to melt the ice but use low power we can't risk hurting them." Kieth said.
"On it" Hunk then materialised his Bayard and forms his cannon. The cannons shape had changed from being a cubed shaped cannon to something more rounded. Hunk blasted the ice wall with constant fire only using low power, so as not to, cause any fatal harm.
From the heat the ice began melting and as it did they could see a female figure in the shadow, Allura begins to see a familiar face in the ice suddenly the ice breaks and Hunk ceases fire. The mist soon clears to reveal who was trapped in the ice and it was someone the Paladins did not expect.
"What?" Pidge breathed.
"It can't be" Hunk gasped.
Allura looked in shock to see who it was. "Elsa"
Standing in front of them was Elsa she was unconscious wearing her normal blue ice dress. She soon collapsed into Allura's arms as the other Paladins gathered round, Kieth though was left in shock.
"Is she" Lance asked.
"No she's alive, barely" Pidge answered suddenly the ground started to rumble and the ice begins cracking.
"The ice is cracking!" Lance exclaimed.
"Melting the ice must have caused the structure to destabilise." Hunk exclaimed.
"Paladins back to the Lions!" Kieth ordered. The Paladins quickly made their way out using their jetpacks as Allura carried Elsa with her arm around her shoulder.
The ice crumbles and destabilising the asteroid a large chunk of ice falls from the ceiling and is about to hit Kieth. "HEADS UP!" Lance quickly formed his Bayard blaster which was now red instead of blue and blasted the chunk above Kieth's head, who then formed his Bayard sword which was black instead of red to cut apart the smaller chunks.
"Nice shot Lance" Kieth thanked.
"No problem team leader!" Lance replied.
The Paladins managed to escape from the cave with Elsa in tow and quickly jumped to their lions. In the Blue Lions cockpit Allura removes her helmet and places it on Elsa's head providing her with air to breath. The Altean Princess then takes the controls of her lion and took off into the sky followed by the other lions. They got clear just before the comet falls apart.
"Whew that was close" Lance said.
"Coran come in prepare the healing pod we have precious cargo." Allura said contacting The Castle of Lions.
Later in the Castle of lions:
In the castle infirmary Elsa now stands inside a healing pod wearing a grey and white suit, as the healing pod healed her Elsa was groaning. Outside the pod the Paladins now in casual attire and Allura in her flight suit whilst Coran was monitoring her vitals via the controls.
"Is she okay, she looks like she's having a nightmare?" Hunk wondered looking at Elsa.
"I don't know it could be a side effect of being starved of oxygen." Coran guessed.
"But how'd she get to our universe?" Lance asked "and where's Anna and Kristof?"
However Pidge's mind was focused on something else something everyone else in the room knew would come next. "Guys, how are we going to tell Elsa about what happened to Shiro?" She asked.
This caused silence throughout the room everyone knew how Elsa developed a special bond with Shiro and for her to find out he's gone was something they didn't know how she would take.
"We don't tell her" Kieth then said plainly, as all eyes set on him everyone was shocked and couldn't believe that he suggested such a thing.
"Kieth that's pretty cold" Hunk said rather serious and taken aback about how Kieth decided on this matter.
"Yeah man. Shiro meant a lot to Elsa she deserves to know what happened to him." Lance agreed.
"Thats just it we don't know what happened to him" Kieth continued "and until we do she doesn't need to know." The Paladins looked at their new leader rather questionable about his decision about this.
"No!" Allura said rather sharply "Thats not a good enough answer Kieth we can't keep this from her!"
"Allura! The minute she finds out Shiro's got she'll think he left her without even saying goodbye do you know what that would do to her!" Kieth argued and partially shouting.
"Yes but she has a right to grieve and be supported by those she loves and her friends!" Allura argued back as Kieth turned his back and looked at the pod. "And up until now you've been avoiding one question all this time!" Kieth began to clench his fist as Allura argued with him like he was about to lose it.
"Now why didn't you want us going back to Arendelle after we defeated Zarkon!" Allura asked in anger, that last line made something snap in Kieth.
"BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID!" Kieth shouted in anger facing the other Paladins who were surprised at what he said. Kieth then realises what he said and looked back to Elsa in the pod hanging his head in shame. "I was afraid." He then said calmly.
This made his fellow Paladins and teammates wonder why he was so afraid of going back to Arendelle but then it dawned on Pidge. "You were afraid to go back and tell Elsa about Shiro weren't you." Pidge asked causing Kieth to look back at his team.
"When Shiro…disappeared, I knew that meant he'd want me to lead in his place." Kieth began "But I realised that also came with the burden of telling Elsa what happened." The Paladins continued to listen to their new leader.
"I got scared because, I knew I had to go back and tell her that the man she…loved wasn't coming back, I just couldn't bare it. Shiro's sacrifice deserved better than that, I'm sorry I didn't tell you." He finished. Keith then felt a hand on his shoulder and looked to see Lance.
"Kieth." He began "We understand why you didn't tell us, but you know that Shiro would be the first person to tell you that she had to know the truth." Kieth then looked away and back to the healing pod.
"But you don't have to do it alone." Lance then added.
"He's right we are a team, we should tell her together." Allura agreed as the others stood by their new leader and Keith smiled knowing they were right.
Elsewhere Zarkon's Command system:
Far away in the distant dark corners of the galaxy stands the command ship of the Galra Empire the vile ship that belonged to the Emperor of the Galra. Inside the ships infirmary the defeated Emperor Zarkon lies on his death bed on life support with tubes feeding him Quintessence to keep him alive. His last battle with Voltron had nearly killed him recovered from his Robeast mech barely alive. On his bedside the Witch Haggar monitors his life signs with no further change in his condition. Haggar leaves the medical room, and walks down the hallway in silence.
"I take it there's no change in my fathers condition." Said a voice and Haggar turned to see a young man with purple Galra skin long white hair, yellow eyes and wore armour in dark violet and grey with traces of orange and royal blue. This was Prince Lotor of the Galra Empire.
"Prince Lotor, need I remind you that whilst your father is in this condition the responsibilities of the empire are yours to bare." Haggar said in her venom voice. "Yet as of late you seem to be neglecting them."
"Need I remind you witch, that my father is on his death bed and so the empire is mine to control and I shall do with it as I see fit." Lotor said in contempt. Since Zarkon's near death the exiled Prince Lotor was summoned to assume the throne in his fathers absence yet he like his father has grand ambitions and plans of his own.
"and I do not need you to interfere with my affairs, remember your place." He then said as he walked off in the opposite direction leaving Haggar with a frown on his face questioning Lotor's motives and commitment as heir to Zarkon's throne.
Back at the Castle of Lions:
Meanwhile back at the Castle of Lions Elsa was still in the healing pod but she was groaning and cringing as she was healing.
In her deep sleep Elsa saw flashes of her memories, she was with Anna and Kristof in the kingdom courtyard. The memory then flashed to a blaze of ice, then Elsa being frozen and sent through a hole of light in the sky.
"ELSA!" Annas voice cried suddenly Elsa snapped awake and saw she was inside a tube and before her were Kieth, Lance, Hunk, Allura, Pidge and Coran smiling with relief knowing that she was awake.
Soon Elsa was in the living quarters of the castle wrapped up in blankets and back in her normal ice dress and siping a warm drink provided by exiting th healing chamber the Paladins explained how she ended up in the castle to begin with, and how they found her in that ice asteroid.
"Thanks guys I guess I should be glad you found me when you did." Elsa thanked.
"Well we're glad your okay." Coran said. Pidge then sat next to her.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"A little weak and getting over this head ache but okay." Elsa replied.
"Elsa how did you get to our universe?" Kieth asked.
"I, don't really know I can't remember much." Elsa replied but then realised something. "Anna! is she here?!" She then asked.
"I'm sorry Elsa but when we found you she wasn't with you." Allura said. She looked around and noticed that one member of the Paladins wasn't with them.
"Wheres Shiro?" She asked. The Paladins and Coran all looked to each other with grief realising this was coming. Kieth was ready to say something until Lance put a hand on his shoulder, and nodded.
"Elsa, there's there's something you need to know, about Shiro." Kieth began.
Elsa was confused as to why Kieth was talking like this "We… we managed to defeat Zarkon." He said. Elsa was surprised to hear this.
"What so Zarkon's gone" Elsa said amazed.
"Yep he's gone, dead zip done" Lance said happily. Elsa could only smile at the fact the monster that threatened her family and kingdom was finally vanquished.
"After our battle the Black lion was de-powered, we brought it back to the castle, but Shiro he," Elsa wasn't liking what Allura was saying and realised where this was going in a horrible realisation.
" No, don't say it not him please." Elsa breathed.
"He wasn't in the cockpit." Kieth then finished. "He, he disappeared." Elsa looked in horror at the mention of those words. Kieth then pulled out of his jacket the Black Bayard.
"All we found was the Bayard he took back from Zarkon." He said presenting it to the ice queen, who couldn't hold back her tears any longer and they fell on the Bayard.
"He, he can't be gone he can't!" She sobbed.
"We're sorry." Lance said in grief. Everyone stood in the living quarters in quiet silence as Elsa grieved for the loss of the Black Paladin.
Later on the Bridge:
The Paladins had left Elsa to herself by her request, to which they respected her wishes. While on the bridge they began discussing recent events.
"So Elsa ends up in our universe and has no idea how she got here or anything else." Hunk said summing up everything. "Just like how Shiro got back to Earth and couldn't remember much."
"Thanks Hunk for pointing out the obvious." Lance moaned.
"But what about Anna or Kristof what happened to them?" Pidge wondered worried for her friend and sister figure.
"All we have so far are questions with no answers." Kieth said.
"Then perhaps we should consider traveling to Arendelle to find out what's happened during our absence." Allura suggested.
"Yeah maybe we can find some clues" Hunk agreed.
"I agree but we can't leave with the Galra still out there not to mention Lotor." Kieth disagreed.
"But what about Anna?" Pidge questioned.
"Hey as much as I hate to agree with Kieth if we leave for a moment Lotor or even the Galra could be making plans to retake planets we've liberated." Lance added.
"So could we ask Kolivan and the Blade of Marmora to investigate?" Hunk asked.
"The Blades are too occupied with gathering intel on potential Galra outposts or slave camps so that's not an option." Allura said. Coran then came up with an idea.
"Well I could always venture to Arendelle and find out what's going on." He volunteered.
"You Coran?" Allura asked.
"Yes we know Voltron is needed here for the time being, and the Blades are dealing with things behind the Galra curtain, so I'm the only option." Coran explained.
"But don't we need you to fly the Castle?" Hunk asked.
"Don't worry you can use the auto pilot and Allura can do the rest." Coran assured.
"Well if this is what you wish to do Coran then I guess we don't have a choice." Allura finally said.
"Agreed." Kieth agreed.
"Right I'll prep a pod immediately." Coran said leaving to prepare a pod for flight.
"So what do we do?" Hunk asked.
"All we can do now is, be there for Elsa." Allura suggested.
"Alluras right she just got a whole load of grief unloaded on her she needs a friend." Lance agreed. Kieth not good with emotions or with people but he knew what he was getting into when he had this burden.
"Where is she now?" Asked Kieth.
Allura used the castle computers to find out where in the ship the ice queen was. She soon found her. "She's in the Black Lions hanger." she answered.
Down in the hanger bay Elsa stood before the Black Lion which stood silently. Elsa tried to smile but could only remember her time with the Black Paladin who made her believe in herself and to not fear her powers or worry about being alone again.
"Hello, old friend." Elsa said sadly.
Behind her were the Paladins who saw she was still grieving inside. Kieth remembered he was in a similar position not long after Shiro disappeared. He motioned for Lance to go and talk to her which he did and he walked up to Elsa.
"Hey Elsa." Lance greeted softly, Elsa looked to Lance but then looked to the floor as Lance sighed. "Listen, we all miss Shiro." The other Paladins approached standing with Elsa.
"It feels like yesterday what a thrill it was to meet him when me and the others carried him out of that Garrison Hospital." Lance remembered.
"Growing up, my dad and brother used to tell me stories about him, at our house he was a legend." Pidge remembered.
"The guy practically taught me everything I know about being a pilot, which wasn't a lot but you know it was enough." Hunk remembered to which Elsa did smile. She then felt a hand on her shoulder and it was Kieth.
"Shiro was the only one who didn't give up on me even when others did he never stopped believing in me." Kieth remembered.
"Shiro helped me understand the meaning of never giving up no matter the cost, in a way he inspired me." Allura said.
"So your not the only one who's grieving we're all right there with you and you know he would be the first person to tell us that we have to move on, no matter what happens." Lance said.
Elsa then looked to the Paladins with sadness. "I know but, don't you know what he meant to me." Elsa began. "Shiro, he he helped me move on from my past and showed me I shouldn't live in fear of my powers, I felt I was free from my fears of being alone or hurting those close to me." Tears started to fall from her eyes.
"I… I loved him, and now he's gone first I've lost Anna and now this I..I just don't know how I can move on."
"Elsa" Allura said putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I know how it feels believe me I do, but I've learned one thing is that though those we love maybe gone it doesn't mean they're not still with us." She said.
"She's right, there's a saying we have on Earth don't cry because its over smile because it happened." Kieth agreed.
"While he's not with us anymore he's with us in here." Lance motioned to his heart. "In our hearts and spirits."
"Keep those memories all those of you and him." Pidge added.
"Yeah as long as they survive so does he." Hunk agreed.
"Shiro is still in us in all of us." Kieth finally said.
Elsa could only smile as tears flooded in her eyes, she immediately hugged Kieth much to his surprise and sobbed into his jacket and he slowly returned the hug and received a group hug from the Paladins ones she knew to consider her extended family.
Authors notes: And thats Chapter 1 done, so Elsa is now in the Paladins universe how and why are a mystery, and now she finds out that Shiro, one she admired has vanished without a trace. As I said there are some alterations to the canon season 3 as I felt Kieth didn't get much time as team leader in season 3 before they found him.
Now Chapter 2 will be up soon but until then stay safe stay healthy and hope you look forward to the next update as I do.
