Mark thought everything was going great in his life, and that he had the perfect guy. Well, he is not the only one who sees that. He is soon met with a terrible incident at the hands of a new supervillain, almost losing the one he loved. This starts his true story and his mission… Do not own Spectacular Spider-man.
In a warehouse at night…
The goblin, the terrible infamous Green Goblin was waiting for his latest experiment to return after doing his little test run on the city.
He was delighted at the powers and chaos caused by this new creature born of evolution and genetic tampering. Genetics was the key to something greater than anything before, it was more than just creating mercenaries or trying to distract Spider-man. This was more than that. Oh, Spider-man was at the heart of this. He was the center of all the Goblin's action. For years, he wanted to find the Nectar of Life, the true source of power and evolution. In the stories and in the legends, he knew it to be true and after years of work, he was close to obtaining it.
Spider-man was the key to his greatest desire, to the ultimate evolution.
But that little arachnid would never allow him to get close which is why-.
THUMP!
Oh goodie, his new toy has arrived.
The room felt colder and colder as a man who looked like an ice sculpture in gangster attire with a look of hate.
"You freak." He snarled with fury.
"Ah, if it isn't the new upstart? How's it going trying to be the big man?" The Green Goblin questioned the icy man, "Quite a chilly reception you've brought."
"What did you do to me? Why can't I make this go? Being a freak wasn't part of the deal!" The man of ice snarled.
"Oh, Iceberg, the deal was I give you power, and I test my latest creation. No need to be so cold." The goblin mocked.
"I'll show you cold! I'll make you a popsicle! I-!"
Before the man could finish, he returned to his normal self. He then saw a button held by my villain in strange attire.
"My little insurance policy. Comes in handy for moments like this." He answered, the normal human realizing it was his only hope of being human.
"P-please, give it to me. I'll do anything."
Then the man watched in horror as the Green Goblin pressed the button again, turning him back into Iceberg.
"You want to your life back… to have all the power for yourself. It will be yours, but you have to earn it." Green Goblin declared to the iceman, "Expect your first assignment soon."
Then the goblin glided away as Iceberg tried to grab the button, only to lose the villain. The only thing he grabbed was a clue.
It was an Osberry and it seemed someone's name was in it.
Harry Osborn.
So… the rich brat was connected to the goblin, and he was going to make that brat tell him everything… or he'll freeze him on the spot.
At Midtown High School…
Everyone was doing a rehearsal of the play while Mark was using his spare time to patch up Peter a bit.
Yeesh, nasty cuts and bruises from his latest brawl with a real icy dude.
"Yeah, he called himself Iceberg. Said that he's going to be what this city needs before trying to turn me into a snow cone. Brr…" Peter shivered from the other night.
"Pete, you should be really careful with this baddie. You're more cold-blooded and getting a chill from him can affect you. It's already slowing down your healing ability." Mark fretted as he hated to see Petey in such a painful shape.
Peter curled up to Mark as he loved how warm he was.
"Good thing you're here then. You always can keep me warm." Peter flirted as Mark curled up with his sweet little spider.
St. John Devereaux cleared his throat and looked at the two.
"Mr. Parker, if you are done charming our stagehand like a siren in the night, would you please return to your seat? You may watch the rehearsals as I need an educated mind to bring perspective into the show." Mr. Devereaux scolded as Peter returned to his seat.
"Sorry, didn't mean to-."
"Quite alright. Young love can be a tempting sweet thing but will often turn bitter if certain things were to befall the couple." He rehearsed a line that sounded like it was part of another play.
Oh, it was true.
For when they were rehearsing, he came.
From frost and hatred, the students and teacher were cornered on the stage, Peter unable to change into Spider-man while Mark held his hand. Iceberg looked angry as frost and fog poured from his breath.
"Osborn… where are you? You and I got a score to settle." He demanded as he looked around the room.
Harry gulped and tried to step back, but it seemed that Iceberg didn't know who Harry was or what he looked like.
Peter stepped in.
"Hey, I'm Harry Osborn. I'm the one you're after." Peter lied as everyone gasped.
"Muy pequeño, what are you doing?" Mark whispered.
"Everything's going to be okay, just get the supplies in my bag while I stall." He whispered back.
"Pete, don't do it." Harry pleaded but Peter gave a smile back at the boy, trying to wordlessly say everything would be okay.
"Hurry up, Osborn!" Iceberg demanded as Peter did as he demanded.
"Okay, okay, take it easy. No one needs to get hurt. Just tell me what you want." Peter breathed as he moved toward the Ice artificial mutant.
"What I want? What I want? You know, a funny thing happened to me, it really did Osborn. I was a little nothing, a nothing hunted by the big man known as Tombstone. I got caught and went to jail by Spider-man. But then a green little friend of your daddy's company decides to bail me out. He promised me the power, he turned me into a walking blizzard if you will, a living iceberg."
He then cruelly laughed as Mark managed to get a fluid cartridge with the cement mix from Petey's backpack.
"But when I am this close to becoming the big man, I have always dreamed of being… imagine my surprise when the freak uses it against me and turns me into his freakish puppet!"
The floor soon turned to ice as Peter began to shiver.
"Well, I want you to send a message. Here's the best part. You don't have to say anything."
Just as Mark was about to throw the cartridge, to make it look like Spider-man was here was when the cops came in.
"Step away from Parker!" DeWolff ordered as the cops surrounded him as Peter walked back to the group.
"Parker?" Iceberg sneered then spotted the curly-haired kid shivering behind him with Liz, "There's Osborn!"
He launched Ice at the boy while Mark threw the cartridge… Everything slowed down as Peter pushed Harry and Liz out of the blast! Peter fell on the floor, all but his head encased in ice while Iceberg was encased in cement!
"PETER!" Mark screamed as he ran to his boyfriend while Iceberg was trying to free himself from the cement.
"Spider-man, this isn't over! I'll freeze Osborn to nothing! I SWEAR!"
He then freezes the floor to create a hole to escape the police! Half chased after the villain while others came to help Peter.
"So…so-so cold…. So-so cold…." Peter whispered as he was shivering.
"Muy pequeño, hold on, you're going to be okay. I promise you will." Mark whispered as Captain Stacy ordered a doctor and ambulance to come.
Everything then went black for Petey.
Later in ESU Labs…
Peter was extremely lucky they got him there in time.
The Connors worked immediately, placing the boy in a tube to provide a chemical bath to help Peter defrost, putting him in a painless coma.
"He's going to be there in a while. The best we can do is wait." Dr. Connors informed the distraught May Parker.
While they took her somewhere to talk, Mark stayed with Peter in the tube sleeping.
Mrs. Connors let Curt take May while he looked at Mark.
"Mr. Allan… if it means anything, I understand your-."
"Don't give me that, you're happy Petey's this way."
The woman Doctor of Science then looked to the boy, who glared at her.
"What?"
"You wanted this to happen to Petey, to get back at him for those Lizards pics, right? You didn't want anyone to know what you've created. That your lab is nothing more than a place for mercenaries to become monsters." Mark accused.
"That is not-."
"I know about the Lizard. I put two and two together."
"Mr. Allan-."
"But that's not the only monster you created, right? Electro, Venom, Jupiter, they all started here! I bet this where all the supervillains came from, especially the monster that attacked Peter."
"Calm down. We would never-."
"But you would! To keep your secret safe. I don't care how long it takes, no matter what, I am going to expose you two as the mad scientists you are! You're going to pay for this!" Mark promised then stormed off while Martha looked deeply concerned and then looked at Peter.
Just outside the campus…
Mark was angry, sad, torn up… He has never felt more useless than this moment in his life.
He couldn't protect Peter, someone who brought him out of that darkness, but he couldn't save him. How can he live by himself?
"Hello, Markie."
Mark then turned around to see Blackie, wet from the snow covering him.
"Seems like we both have been having a bad day." He greeted.
"I'm not in the mood for any of this…" Mark sneered but then was stopped.
"But you should be because I am not here to offer you money… but power. Power to melt that Iceberg before he tries to finish the job on your love in the lab."
"What?"
Blackie then grinned.
"The freak ruined my place of business, there is a doctor I know of who is seeking to stop this mad Ice cube's rampage and you want…"
'revenge'
"Justice..."
The bookie grinned.
"Well, here's your chance, Markie. Come with me and I will take you to the man who can give you your 'justice'. Do it for your Petey."
Mark was hesitant but agreed.
