When Harry Osborn didn't show up for the play and no one knew where he was, Mark could think of a good substitute. Pete, however, is a little bit unprepared. Do not own Spectacular Spider-Man.
At Midtown High School…
Everyone was clamoring in to see the high school play, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Peter and Aunt May were getting their seats to support his friends and boyfriend who was working the lights at this moment. The sweet little Parker boy waved to Molten Man and Mark waved back to his sweet spider. Even down below him, to Mark, Peter looked angelic and could only imagine Peter in such a form… but he's a little bit too young to be thinking just things about his love, yet. He could imagine that May wanted her little Petey to be married first before that type of thing to be had. Mark couldn't wait, he could imagine Peter looking stunning for that day.
May brought some popcorn and soda to the surprise of her nephew.
"Um, Aunt May… this isn't a movie." Peter pointed out as he was handed something to snack on.
"Oh, I know but entertainment is always better with some treats. Besides, you need a little nourishment, I've noticed your blood pressure is too low. That's not good for you." His aunt answered she believed his tiredness was the result of a lack of food.
"I'm fine Aunt May. But are we even allowed to bring food here?" Peter wondered.
"If anyone asked, it was my idea. Now, enjoy some of your popcorn, it's cheddar flavor~." She tempted him, knowing how much he loves cheddar popcorn, and helped himself.
As they were getting cozy and ready for the play, Pete soon felt a tap on his shoulder.
It was Mark.
"Petey, the director wants you. We are having a little emergency." Mark spoke softly as both Parkers were a little surprised.
"Why? What's wrong?" Peter wondered.
"Harry, he's not here."
Behind the stage…
Mark brought Peter, who was still eating his popcorn, as everyone seemed a little frantic.
"Oh, Mr. Parker, praise the spirits of the theatre that you have arrived in this dire time of need!" St. John Devereaux praised the boy, placing both hands on his shoulders.
"What's going on? Where's Harry?" The small thing wondered before taking a mouthful of popcorn.
"I don't know. I tried calling him but he's not picking up. I'm really- where did you get that popcorn?" Gwen asked as she finally noticed the popcorn.
"Oh, Aunt May brought it for the play," Peter answered before setting it down.
"Classic May." Mary Jane laughed before wrapping an arm on her shoulder, "We're glad you're here, Pete. We can really use your help."
"You want me to try and find Harry?" The boy questioned.
"No, no, there is no time and Mr. Osborn's understudy is sick! Now, Mr. Allan has informed me of your photographic memory." The director began.
"Yeah…"
"And you have the almost same size and structure as our esteemed Puck, and we deeply need Puck for this to truly be A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Peter didn't like where this was going.
"Wait, you want me to play Puck? I can't do that to Harry." Peter refused.
"Come on, Parker! We need to get this show on the road." Flashed complained.
"Pete, we really need you. You can memorize the words and you're the only one who can fit the costume." Liz pleaded with her brother's boyfriend.
"Besides, you can make a really cute Puck." Mark flirted as Petey blushed a bit.
"But Harry-." Peter voiced.
"All we're asking for you to man the fort until Osborn gets here. Then you can get back to the stage." Randy clarified.
"Please, Tiger, for the play?" MJ requested.
Peter breathed and had no choice but to agree.
"Okay, but just until Harry gets here." Peter agreed, then was soon whisked away for dressing and makeup.
"I'll let May know her nephew is going to be a star." Mark chuckled before a request for his sister, "Oh, could you get a shot of Pete-."
"I'll make sure you get one," Liz promised as her brother gave a thumbs up.
At the play…
Mark's breath was taken away by Peter once again, the most beautiful Puck he had ever seen in his life.
So radiant, naturally charming, fairy-like, if Mark didn't know better, he may have thought Peter really was a fairy or elf. The spotlight gives his boyfriend a dream-like essence, making him a little jealous that this beauty must be shared with the rest of the audience on the stage. Everyone loved him completely; they didn't even notice his stutter once or twice. He was just that graceful.
Peter stole the show as Puck, with Harry nowhere to be seen. Mark hummed as he believed that Puck suited Peter's own personality, humorous, a tad mischievous but having a good heart. A trickster that is more than he appears to be. In fact, most tricksters often are represented by the spider. Interesting thing to think about, a spider.
When the play ended, everyone cheered for Peter, and Mark, ever loving and clapping, tossed a red rose to Peter, who easily caught it.
By the time the show was over, Harry finally appeared, unhappy with Pete for taking his role. But Mark scoffed.
Osborn had no reason to complain when he was late.
Mark pulled Peter away from his fans and Harry to give him a kiss.
"You were amazing Pete. There is no one better than being Puck than you." Mark flirted.
"I don't know. Harry's pretty mad at me." Peter sighed, feeling guilty for stealing the spotlight from his best friend, especially since Harry needed it after being caught cheating with the chemical he stole from his father.
"Let him. It's his own fault for being late for the entire show. You were just filling in." Mark spoke, "Hey, why not celebrate the show being a smash with dinner, just you and me."
"Sure, I'll have to let Aunt May know. But sure."
After Peter scampered off, Mark's phone began to buzz, and he was soon introduced to a photo of Peter as Puck and smiled.
"Cute."
