Infatuation Grows Jealousy

As Peter speculates about the return of the Green Goblin, Mark sees that there are more than two hearts that his boyfriend unknowingly captured in his beautiful web. But where there is love, hate, and jealousy is not too far behind… Do Not Own Spectacular Spider-man…

At the Parker residence…

Peter was deep in thought as he was scribbling in his notes, trying to figure out the connections that he had been noticing for some time, since Tombstone's defeat… maybe even before that.

Something was familiar about all this… but what was it?

"Muy pequeño, if you keep making that face, it will stick like that." Mark joked, earning a giggle from the little spider boy.

"Sorry, Mr. Big Shot Chief of Security." Peter cutely countered as May enjoyed seeing the pair bantered and joked… like she and Ben did.

It brought so many happy memories.

Mark gave Peter a kiss as they curled up together on the couch.

"Yep, stopping a bunch of baddies from breaking out when things got haywire can get some attention from the higher up, got a raise and a free scholarship with perks." Mark proudly answered while kissing Petey's neck.

"I'm just glad you got out of there in one peace." Peter breathed as he hugged his boyfriend.

"Indeed, that was horrible that someone let free those prisoners with you and Spider-man inside. Who would do such a thing?" Aunt May voiced as something clicked in Peter's head.

Who would do such a thing?

Who… could do such a thing?

Who would be smart enough and crazy enough to do such a thing?

That's it…

"Pete, got an idea?" Mark voiced as he knew that face his boyfriend made when he discovered something.

At Osborn Penthouse…

Peter had never been more relieved that Harry wanted him to come to his penthouse than ever, forgiving him for the play thing.

In fact, he was desperate for Peter and Mark to come. Peter knew it could only mean trouble. Harry rushed both Mark and Peter in while Gwen was watching them enter, a look of sadness and jealousy.

"Pete, thank goodness you're here. I need your help with something!" Harry squeaked as he brought his desktop.

"Harry, we also need to talk-."

"It's about the Green Goblin, right?"

Peter's breath suddenly stopped while he let Harry tug him away. While they were talking, Mark needed to speak with Gwen.

"Hey, Gwen, got a minute?" Mark requested from the girl as they separated from the boys, "I know you like Peter, as much as I do."

"Mark, I-."

"Let me finish."

Gwen nodded and let Molten Man continue.

"I know that I beat you to Peter when I came back from juvie. I know you only dated Harry because you couldn't have Peter and you want to pretend that he was."

Gwen nodded again as she admitted her secret shame.

Geez, his Petey, his little Muy pequeño, he sure has that ability to draw people to him without knowing it. He has a web-like personality, drawing everyone into it before being spellbound by his charms, like his sister, like Black Cat, like so many other people. Sheesh, even he was in the center of this beautiful web. Peter was definitely a siren.

"I know, I know. I'm horrible. It's just when Peter started dating, Harry was there, and he was thankful and-and I don't know what happened." Gwen admitted in a fit as Mark tried to calm her down.

Now, she may be a rival to his boyfriend's spider-webbed lacy heart, but he was not the type of man who would let a poor girl cry.

"Listen, listen Gwen. Do you love Harry? The real love, the love I felt for Peter." Mark asked, holding her hand, and acting as her lifeline.

He waited for an answer, not knowing everything that was being said was heard while Peter was looking into the laptop to think of a good plan. His ears were pricking as he waited for an answer, ignoring the mumblings of his friend.

"No, no I don't."

Harry's heart broke.

Of course…

Of course, she didn't want him.

Who would want him?

Peter was everything that Harry was not. Peter was loved by his father, loved by the school, loved by his classmates, loved by the paper, loved in the lab, heck even when he had a boyfriend…

She loved him more.

Peter will always have what Harry wants.

His father gave him gadgets and stuff unavailable on the market and made him his apprentice, to study and train. He can hear the football team saying Peter should have been chosen instead of him because Peter was never a cheater. He took the show, he became Puck when he had gotten the role in the first place, and everyone thought he was better than him.

Now, he was going to take Gwen from him.

"Listen, why not just tell Pete how you feel? He may not feel the same way, but it would be better to get it off your chest." Mark advised, surprisingly trusting his boyfriend.

"But what about Harry?" Gwen wondered, Harry not liking how this conversation was going…

"If you do not love him then dump him. A real friend will understand, and it may hurt but it will be better for you both in the long run." Mark answered, weirded out how good he was at giving advice.

Maybe Peter's Aunt May was rubbing off on him.

Harry wanted to melt Molten Man for telling her these things. No, no he wouldn't lose again, not to Peter, he would not lose anymore.

Before Gwen could say anything, Peter gasped in shock.

"This is worse than I thought. Mark, you might want to get over here." Peter shuddered as the loyal and loving Molten Man came to his side.

The newest superhero rushed to his love to see what was going on and gasped in horror.

"Looks like someone else is taking up the mantle of Goblin. Someone knows about the Gobulum Green and has been taking vast amounts. He's also been doing heists around Oscorp for the old gear." Peter informed as he bit his knuckle with worry.

Mark uttered something in Spanish in horror as Harry went to his girlfriend. And she will keep being his girlfriend no matter what. He will man up, he will keep her, and Peter will not one-up him ever again. Never again.
