Chapter 4

It's been one hell of a week, and all she wants to do is go visit her grandpa and Souta. Especially, being an intern to someone like Satoru Gojo. The man will make her hair turn grey faster than the speed of light. He's a piece of work, it's no surprise the students sympathized with her when she met them. He'll leave after the students start training. She had to ask the students for a little direction on where to go from there because he just dips and doesn't inform her of anything. Thankfully, the students' said training was usually done at the end of the day and its why he's taking the freedom to leave early since she's going to be there with them. If that wasn't bad enough, he was all too happy when she got her personalized outfits that he ordered for her without even asking her if the style was what she wanted, but no he didn't and he got her his same outfit. Now she's a mini him walking around the school all she's missing is the white-haired wig and she's good to go. "The nerves of that man and Sesshomaru thought I was insufferable, but this man wins the award of most insufferable human alive" she grumbled as she sat at the top of the staircase in front of the track and field. She decided to get up early and jog on the track to ease her body into exercise and training. Since everything is so quiet there's no white-haired man in sight to annoy her, she opted to try and meditate before she went back to her room and start getting ready for the day. She crossed her legs and closed her eyes to help her concentrate. She felt her reiki unraveling like a waterfall, it became too much for her to manage so she shut it down quickly. It's obvious that she's scared of her newfound powers. Maybe she can start with baby steps and Gojo's supervision. Kagome is very frustrated with herself, but she knows she must be careful, otherwise she's setting herself up for an earlier execution if anyone thought that she's trying to destroy anything when all she wants to do is train herself.

She walked back to her room and went straight to the shower after realizing that her mind lacks courage to oversee such prowess. She hopes Gojo keeps his word and trains with her tomorrow she's determined to learn everything she can and become a strong priestess. She finished her shower, got dressed and left the room to go to the cafeteria. When she got there it was relatively empty, it's no surprise the students were probably taking the day to rest. After she was done eating her meal, she didn't know what else to do. If Gojo-san had shown her the armory to begin with she could've had her hands on a bow and some arrows. Thinking of the devil, she felt the white-haired man's presence behind her. She snapped her head back at him, she was surprised for a moment he wasn't wearing his usual attire, Gojo had a black shirt, a white pair of pants, his hair was down, and he had a pair of dark sunglasses instead of those bandages that made him look like a mummy. She was speechless, gawking at him her mouth parted slightly. "Damn." Kagome' cheeks flushed, noting the brain fart she just had. She didn't want the man to get an ego boost at her expense.

"Hey Kagome-Chan!" Gojo saluted cheerfully. "It seems someone likes what they see."

"Is there something you need?" Kagome asked, trying to act nonchalant like she just didn't ogle his appearance and gave an unprecedented compliment.

"I took care of some things earlier than expected, so we can go to the shrine now if you want." he replied.

"That's great! I can finally get my own clothing and stop wearing this ridiculous outfit you got me" she said her eyes beaming with happiness.

"Hey! Those are not ridiculous. It's comfortable and you're my intern I don't want anyone else to think they have access to you." Gojo pouted. "I don't want to share and that's that." He crossed his arms and sulked.

Kagome narrowed her eyes but said nothing else, she just left the conversation and ignored what he just said arguing with him won't solve anything. He's obviously teasing her to get a rise out of her, but she won't let him rain over her parade. She's finally getting out of this place even if it's for a day she'll take it the school grounds are huge but can feel stuffy and lonely after a while.

They finally arrived at the shrine and Kagome couldn't be happier. She got out of the car and ran up the stairs. Gojo walked behind her amused by her antics. She knocked on the door and waited patiently for her grandpa to let her in. Seconds passed, her grandpa finally opened the door, and before he could voice anything, she hugged him as hard as she could. "Oh, grandpa I've missed you!" she exclaimed.

"Kagome, we've missed you too. Thank God you're doing ok." Her grandpa said as he hugged her back.

"It feels good being home." Kagome expressed. "Where's Souta?"

"He's in a school tournament and won't be back till later in the afternoon." her grandpa asked as he stepped aside to let her in. "and who's your friend?"

"Oh. I'll see him next time then" She voiced disappointedly.

"He's my boss, Gojo-san." Kagome clarified.

"Nice to me you Gojo-san." Her grandpa said as he ushered them both to come in.

"Likewise." Gojo replied.

"Please sit. I'll make some tea. Is there a preference." Her grandpa gestured to his arsenal of different types of tea.

They both sat down and replied in unison. "Jasmine tea."

"Coming right up, if anyone was none the wiser, they would suspect both of you were dating." Her grandpa said in a playful manner.

Kagome's cheeks flared up. "Gramps I would never even think of dating someone like him!"

"Your expression says otherwise." Gojo said flirtatiously. "If I recall you said 'damn' earlier today when you saw me."

"Ok, I didn't come here to get dating advice or be put on the spot. I came to talk to you gramps and to pick up my things." Kagome admonished.

"Alright, alright no more talks of that. Here's both of your teas." Her gramps said as he sat down on the chair next to Kagome.

She took a sip of her tea and started to explain everything without leaving anything out. For her honesty is the best policy especially when it came to her gramps, he's a kind man he deserves to know what's going and why she won't be around much. Plus, he's always understood her predicaments since the events of the well. She assured him she will help economically even though the shrine often gets visitors throughout the week and people buy trinkets and souvenirs, but it's not enough to cover the costs of living and without her mother and herself Souta might have to work earlier than usual, and she doesn't want that. She wants him to focus on his studies. Overall, she just wants her family to know she won't abandon them and that she'll try her hardest to keep them safe from everything going on in her life now.

After listening to her gramps looked at her with understanding. "Eventually everything will fall into place you deserve happiness my precious granddaughter although the road ahead of you is tumultuous, I will bet everything you'll come out of it victorious just like you did once before. Be safe on this journey and don't forget to visit once or twice every now and then."

Kagome got teary eyed and hugged him. "Oh gramps. I love you so much. I promise to visit every chance I get."

"I love you too." He replied before directing his eyes to Gojo who was sitting on the opposite end of the table. "Keep her safe will you."

"I will I'm the strongest sorcerer after all." Gojo replied confidently.

Kagome deadpanned. "You're insufferable."

"I get that a lot and many other unsavory names, but they usually come from weaklings, so I don't mind." Gojo remarked.

She growled. "Oh my God shut up!"

"Lover's quarrels. I see." Her grandpa muttered.

"Gramps, I heard that! You know what, the moment is ruined. I'm going upstairs to pick up some of my things." Kagome declared as she stormed up the stairs to her room.

Gojo just laughed he's enjoying getting the priestess riled up.

Kagome started to look around her room and figured she should change into something more to her liking. She opted for a flowy light pink knee-high dress with a green blazer and green flats. She felt beautiful in it and more importantly liked herself. She stepped out of her bedroom and to a hallway closet to get a suitcase. As she came back to her bedroom she started skimming through her closet and picking out the clothing and shoes she wanted to take. Then, she went to her desk, picked up her laptop and accessories and photos she had on it to hopefully personalize her room a bit. She wanted to make the room homier. Once she was done packing, she took the suitcase down the stairs and set it next to Gojo. "Gojo-san would you mind taking this to the car?"

"Sure, anything for my Kagome-chan" Gojo said teasingly as he got up from the chair, grabbed the suitcase and walked out the door.

Kagome glared at the door. "He's so irritating. I'm gonna shave his head if he doesn't stop with his b.s."

Her gramps laughed at her comment. "He reminds me a little bit of Inuyasha except Inuyasha was a lot rougher around the edges, but apparently you must love arguing with the men you eventually fall in love with."

"Gramps, no! never he's insufferable and he makes me want to punch him on the daily I will never fall for someone like that. Never!" Kagome exclaimed. "Anyway, I think it's time for me start heading out. I want to see mom before going back to the school."

"We'll see" her gramps said before getting up from his chair and kissing her on top of her head. "Take care of yourself and stay safe. I love you."

"I love you too." Kagome replied.

As they entered the hospital building, Kagome couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of waking up her mother. She wants to try but she's afraid of what could happen if she did something wrong. When they both entered her mother's room, Kagome sat next to her and held her hand tightly. Kagome felt her mother's hand cold, so she stood up and looked around the room to find something to warm her up.

"How long has your mother been bedridden?" Gojo inquired eyeing Kagome's mother resting on the hospital bed.

"It's been 2 months since she's been like this." Kagome answered while opening a small closet door and taking a thick white blanket out of it.

"Have you tried to break the curse?"

Kagome's lips trembled. "I haven't"

"I'll set up a veil to cover this room. You're going to break the curse imposed on your mother. This is your first training session." He instructed.

"I'm scared I won't be able to" Kagome admitted as she placed the thick blanket on her mother and sat down once again. "What if I harm her?"

"You should be able to break the curse but if you can't for some reason, we can investigate it and figure out a way to do so. Your purification should be able to cancel out most if not all curses. Also, try pouring it on her head the curse is in her brain" He presumed. "It's a gamble, but you need to stop fearing and start thinking about the good things that can happen if you start using your powers."

Kagome looked at him and nodded. "I'll give it a try." She was unsure about the whole thing, but Gojo is right she needs to do this at least her mother doesn't deserve to be missing out on life when she can do something about it.

Gojo dropped the veil and signaled for Kagome to start breaking the curse. Kagome started focusing her energy on her hands feeling her powers flow through her she wanted to retract and stop right then and there, but she didn't want to give up so soon not for her mother at least. She noticed her hands were glowing bright pink and she placed them on her mother's head. As she kept pouring more of her pure energy into her mother, she saw a seal form on her mother's forehead, it was bright red, and it started to burn her. Kagome started to scream in pain, Gojo made a move towards her, but she yelled "No! stop I can do this."

It felt like hours had passed; she felt beads of sweat coming down her face, the searing pain of the seal had finally dissipated, breaking the seal completely. Kagome fainted shortly after, Gojo caught her before she hit the floor and the veil finally lifted.

Kenjaku was in his lair when he felt one of his seals being broken tapping his finger on a chair. "This could mean trouble. I might have to get rid of whoever broke my seal." he wasn't happy about the prospect of worrying about someone else other than the six eyes, but he'll just have to see what or who is this new threat that might ruin his plans in the future.
