What if TLG finale ended a slightly different way regarding Emma's confession and Thayer misunderstood?
Emma Becker was talking to Thayer and left after he told her to even though she protested against it, but eventually walked out and stayed in the hallway after lingering there for a few seconds, looking at him. She sighed and walked away, neither of them knowing the impact the decision made on the other. Thayer destroyed everything in his room with the piece of metal in his hand. He was happy she left after he told her to even though she protested against it, but eventually did as he asked. The way she was lingering there for a few seconds, looking at him, didn't help very much. While it made some of his anger disappear, it resurfaced when he thought she could look at him like that after what he assumed was her trying to tell him that she chose Ethan over him. Tears welled up in her eyes before she left; it angered and saddened him as he looked at a picture of Emma, the only girl he's truly been in love with.
Emma went back to the others, thoughts racing.
"You okay, Mads?"
"I'm fine." She replied as Dan was asking questions while Ted was checking on Alec.
Mads and Emma didn't say anything. Mads was crying.
Emma hugged her as the latter looked around.
"Thayer is in his room and I don't think he's very happy with me right now."
"Is everything okay?"
"I think he assumed my feelings for Ethan and compared it to my feelings for him without me confirming or denying anything. I tried to explain, but he told me to leave. Eventually, I did."
"Emma, who are you in love with more? Ethan or Thayer?"
Before she could answer, Thayer appeared and just stood there, lost in his own thoughts. Emma couldn't blame him since he was probably just in a blind rage not to long ago due to him assuming Emma trying to probably tell him that she chose Ethan. The brown haired foster child hugged her best friend as Ted tried to help his.
Everyone else was either standing around in confusion, answering questions Dan asked or just stood there in shock. Emma couldn't blame them at all since she couldn't believe it herself.
"Want me to stay with you?" Emma asked Mads and Thayer as Sutton stood staring at them angrily. First she takes my place and then she steals my best friend? Hell, no. She thought.
Neither of them responded but she knew they needed her right now, but so did Kristin even though she wasn't her real mom.
Emma sighed as Dan went over to them. He asked them questions and they answered best they could. Eventually, Ethan's brother walked away. Emma sighed, looking at Mads and Thayer. All three of them made their way to the car while Ethan watched.
"Is that Emma?" Dan asked, looking at his younger brother.
"Yes." He said, looking at Emma's eyes on Thayer as they talked. From the looks of it, she does have feelings for him. The two hugged as Mads caught Ethan's stare at her brother and best friend.
"Want to wait at the hospital or what?" Emma asked them, mainly looking at Thayer.
"We can do it in the morning. I'm sure he will be in surgery or something and visiting hours are over anyways." He said, looking at his phone screen of Emma he took without her noticing when they were hanging out together. It was the same photo that was in the frame on the ground in his apartment. They both nodded. "I'll drive you home." Both girls got in the car. "Damn, left my keys in my room. I'll be back." He stated before going back up to his apartment.
"He really does love you, Emma." Mads said, noticing the way her brother looked at her best friend.
She sighed. "He's always been there for me, unlike Ethan."
"I know, but eventually you will have to choose between them. Either way, someone will end up heartbroken. I've never seen him happy until he met you. He was in love with Sutton, but now he has stronger feelings for you. I can tell." She gave a small smile. "I just don't want to see him get hurt."
If Alec did kill Derek and Theresa, than that's exactly what will happen and it will be even worse if I don't choose Thayer. Damn it! The other girl thought, shaking her head.
Emma had Thayer drop her off at the cabin before him and Mads went home.
"You okay, bro?" She asked, concerned.
"Yeah."
Dan was outside with a beer in his hand, looking out into the distance. Ethan walked outside from the trailer. "You okay?" He asked.
"Well, just found my fiancée dead along with the fact that I just discovered my brother lied to me about Sutton having a twin sister for months and the two girls have been switching places back and forth."
"Emma didn't really have a choice, Dan. Her pervy foster brother is the reason why she left, so she can get away from him. She called Sutton for help and that's when the latter had the idea to switch places for the first time, Emma would be safe in Phoenix while her sister went to LA so they can find their real parents. Emma pretended to be Sutton, so Travis wouldn't find her….until he somehow found out. I told him to get out of town after he pissed me off by saying shit about Emma."
Dan nodded and sighed. "What did he say?"
"Just that Emma has both myself and Thayer under her control." He rolled his eyes.
"And she must be making it useful, is that what he said?" Dan asked.
"Yes, but he's an idiot."
"I know you're not going to enjoy hearing this, but I've seen the way Thayer looks at Emma and it's the same way you do. Problem is, she can only choose one while the other would probably get Sutton."
"I don't want Sutton. I want to be with Emma."
"I know, but you already chose family over those twins. You know what that means?" Ethan didn't say anything. "If he wants Emma, there's no competition for him since you aren't in the picture anymore." Dan said, finishing his bottle before going back inside the trailer, leaving Ethan out there by himself with an unreadable expression.
Emma sighed, wondering why she even put her feelings for him on the back burner.
Because of Ethan. You still love him and are using Thayer as a distraction.

It seemed easy for Ethan to forget about Sutton, which makes me think that he just transferred any feelings he had for her on to me because I was pretending to be Sutton even though he knew I wasn't her the second he kissed me.

Sutton was furious Rebecca had her keep the secret about Alec killing Derek and Rebecca framing him so he couldn't get out on bail this time. She was in her room the next day about to leave for the hospital.
"Mom, I'm leaving." She said, getting her shoes on.
"Ok. I'll go with you." She replied before Sutton was ready. Kristin grabbed her purse and they left.
Ethan, Mads, Emma, Thayer and Laurel were at the hospital already. The Mercer twin was standing between Ethan and Thayer, who looked angry. Sutton ran up to them. "What are you doing here? We can't be seen together." Emma said.
"Uh, Alec is my godfather." Sutton replied.
"Also mine as well or did you forget that?" Emma said.
"Girls, can we not do this right now?" Ted replied, walking up to them. Sutton looked away and saw Thayer looking at Emma while Ethan rolled his eyes. Dan went up to them and noticed both Thayer and Ethan looking at her, but her attention wasn't on the latter. She put a hand on Thayer's shoulder and tried to give him some comfort, hugging him and he returned it back, not wanting to let go.
Ethan crossed his arms while Mads looked at the former couple.
"Sorry." They both replied before Thayer and Emma pulled away, holding hands. She slightly squeezed his to let him know him know she is there for him and isn't going anywhere. He smiled at her and she returned it. Kristin appeared with drinks from the cafeteria in her hand.
"Sutton?" She asked, looking between the twins, confused.
They both looked at each other before turning back to her. "Actually, I'm Emma Becker." She replied as everyone turned to Kristin for her reaction, but her expression was unreadable.
"How is this possible?"
"I came here months ago to switch places with Sutton for 2 days, but then everything got out of control."
"You agreed?" The blond asked.
"My last foster home was the reason why I left Las Vegas. I called Sutton for help when I had the cops called on me for something I didn't do, stupid travis," she mumbled under her breath. Thayer heard, so his expression turned angry along with Ethan's. "so I got on a bus to Phoenix and we met. She told me that she wanted to find our birth parents and I agreed to take her place. It wasn't supposed to last this long, but I don't want to go back to Vegas."
"What happened exactly?" She asked.
"Her foster brother tried to get the cops off her back by offering something in return, but that didn't work. Eventually, he found out there was twins and broke into the house when Emma was there pretending to be Sutton before he attempted to force himself on her." Thayer said as anger shone in his eyes.
"I punched him, so he went unconscious." Ethan added. "He said that Emma had both of us," he nodded to Thayer. "under her control and must be making it worth it."
Kristin scoffed. "Hopefully, he won't be back to the house."
"If he does, I'll deal with him." Dan said.
"Wait, so you two switched places and didn't tell me?" Kristin asked.
"I was also kept in the dark until the night after Theresa died." Dan replied. "Ethan knew this whole time."
"I only knew 2 nights after Emma arrived here, but had my suspicions before that." He replied.
"So I'm the last to know?" She asked.
"I'm sorry, but we were told it's dangerous if anyone found out Sutton has a twin." Emma said. "It's why two people have gotten killed already." Emma said, throwing Dan a sympathetic look.
A/N: I'm going to end this chapter here, partially due to the cliffhanger of Kristin's reaction and because I kinda want to make this into a crossover after season 2 ends, but I have no idea how to do that without making it cliche-like someone wanting a fresh start or something-so anything creative and different would be helpful.
