Village of The Holy Land part 2
"Be the change you wish to see in the world"- Mahatma Gandhi
Behind the barricade, refugees were terrified of Amalya and the Givati Brigade.
Outside, Soran went shooting their IOF foes with his AK.
Angie went looking for Charo. She found him inside the barn.
Angie: Charo, nows not the time to be chasing chickens! You had me worried.
Out of nowhere, Kencho appeared behind Angie. He shushed her as they spotted an IOF scout.
Angie: I know the PLO and the Hamas are having a political feud. I just wish the IDF would listen when they see me here.
Kencho: We're just gonna have to do this without these guys pointing guns.
Quietly, they climbed onto the roof. But they hadn't gone unnoticed by the IOF air patrol.
IOF pilot (in Hebrew): [Hey, is that Yoav's daughter?]
Second IOF pilot: [Could be. Must've been abducted by that man.]
IOF pilot: [I doubt it. Look. There's another guy with a pitchfork climbing up after them.]
Climbing up the ladder with the bident was Dolzi. He charged at Kencho with the pitchfork.
Beatrix rode the horse to the watermill. But her attempt didn't go unnoticed. On the truck was Dafna. She got in the way and stopped Beatrix. The horse slipped and fell. Dafna had a chainsaw for a weapon. It broke Beatrix's katana.
Dafna (In Hebrew): [A wannabe samurai is nothing compared to our modern technology. I was in the top four in the highschool Kendo Nationals two years in a row.
Shizuka tried to get the refugees to come out of the barricaded house.
Shizuka: We've got to find our way out or we're dead.
Villager: If we go out and fight, we'll not only be shot, we'll be branded as the collaborators of the Hamas.
Shizuka ran off into the cornfield so she wouldn't be discovered by Amalya and her troops. But her fleeing didn't go unnoticed by Shuman.
Boulos watched as his son fired at their IOF foes.
Soran: Allah help us if we do not bring peace to our land!
Boulos (grabbing his son): That's enough!
Soran: Yāba, what are you doing?
Boulos: You wish to repay your debt, do you not? Just stay live. And take care of your ammahāt.
Dolzi used to sell phones for a living. He was a married man and hung out at bars. His relationship with his family was poor.
Dolzi: My wife is such a bitch! Whenever she talks, she nags me to keep the bathroom clean or get a promotion! She should shut her goddamn mouth!
In the cornfield, Shizuka was caught by Shuman. Shuman appeared drooling in her presence.
Shuman: Looks like we're alone now. This is my lucky day!
Shizuka: "Lucky"? What's that supposed to mean?
Shuman: I'm going to force my tongue down a girl's throat!
In truth, Shuman was once a cook. Like Shapira, he was a smoker. There were no ashtrays where he worked. His addictions to smoking had cost him his job.
Shuman: So what if the restaurant got burned down because of my smoking addictions?! Everyone else that worked there did! I don't see why they had to get mad at me for this! I'm so unlucky!
Beatrix and Dafna continued their clash.
Dafna (in Hebrew): [Your resistance is futile.]
Beatrix: [How could you do something so evil?]
Dafna: ["Evil"? I'm merely correcting people's actions and doing what's right. But all they do is complain about my deeds!]
Dafna was once a municipal office worker. Her superiors and peers alike didn't approve of her methods.
On the rooftop, Kencho took grip on the end of Dolzi's pitchfork.
Kencho: Tell me something. What did we ever do to you?
Dafna: Just 'cause she couldn't reach me when she was making babies!? I made clients happy when I didn't want to! She was pissed at me for not being there for her and the kids! I'm the victim!
Kencho: You can badmouth your ex anyway you want. But tell something, you offered her an anniversary gift? Like flowers? Have you thanked her enough for taking care of your home or listened to her real feelings? Did you treat her like she was your queen? The reason you got divorced is because you weren't there for her. You haven't shown love to her. You gave her nothing. You expected her to take care of you. She is not your maid!
Dafna: Shut up! If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me!
Kencho (spotting the cesspit): Okay then…let's go.
Angie watched as Kencho dragged Dafna from the ledge and off the roof. Kencho took his pants off and dove into the cesspit. The IOF appeared and surrounded Dafna. He was put under arrest. After they took off, Kencho came out off the cesspit all covered in muck.
Angie: You're disgusting.
Inside the barricade, Neil began to preach to the refugees.
Neil: Wasn't it Malcolm X that said, "We declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary?"
Halima (Soran's grandmother): True. But we don't believe in violence.
Eldest Ali: The Quran says, "Should anyone confront you with violence, you should try and repel it with peacefulness, whereby he who is your enemy will become your friend." If we're going to win the fight, we must shame the Israelis into realizing they're becoming like the Nazis.
So they went outside unarmed where Amalya and Bauman were waiting for them.
Amalya (in Hebrew): [Now's our chance! Fire!]
Bauman: [No.]
Amalya: [What?!]
Bauman: [They're unarmed.]
IOF soldier: [They don't want to fight.]
Amalya: [This is a trick! The Hamas are using these people as human shields! Fire!]
Bauman and the IOF stared at Amalya as though she hadn't thought of the lies that were told by the Israeli government.
Amalya: [Fine, I'll settle this myself!]
Amalya pulled out her Desert Eagle and fired her gun. But then, one of her troopers got in the way. He was a Jewish Arab. This shocked both sides. Bauman rushed to the body.
Bauman: [Why? They say the Nazis have killed their own people. Now we're becoming like the Nazis.]
Amalya: [I…I-It was an accident!]
IOF soldiers angrily mobbed around Amalya. With the IOF distracted, the refugees snuck out of hiding.
Amalya: [STOP! (As the soldiers quiet down) You won't attack?]
Bauman: [We cannot.]
Amalya: [Then I ask of you to keep a lookout for any Hamas here in the village. Give me a chance to get to Tel Aviv so I can get in touch with the Mossad.]
Bauman: [I'll do what I can.]
Out in the cornfield, Shizuka took a stand against Shuman.
Shizuka: Are you familiar with the recognitive hyper-focalization theory? It's a scientific theory based on luck. You only care about yourself, do you not? Does your concern extend to family or friends, exedra? Anything that matters in your own future? Have you considered your own community? When you face the challenge, who do you consider? The larger scope of your consideration you have, the best of luck.
Shuman: Showing of your intellects? Hah! Who gives a crap? This time, I'm the lucky one! (Points his revolver at Shizuka's head) Your luck has just run out!
But before Shuman could pull the trigger, a shot was fired.
Shizuka (spotting the shooter from the tower): Neil?
Neil: Me uncle was a sniper in the South Armagh Brigade.
Shizuka: As the Americans would say, "Luck of an Irish!"
Out of the bush, the PLO appeared with their AKs. They didn't kill Shuman, they just surrounded him.
PLO: Anyone that hurts Shizuka will feel the wrath of Allah!
The farmers beat Shuman up with their hoe.
Shuman: Why me?
Shizuka: You only think of yourself. Someone self-absorbed may never get any luck.
PLO: You alright?
Shizuka: Yeah. Lucky me!
Beatrix and Dafna continued their clash.
Dafna [In Hebrew]: [You Pali lovers don't deserve your freedom. I'm the one that's right!]
Beatrix: [In Germany, it's normal to toss your cigarettes anywhere you go. Supermarket cashiers chew their gum in front of their customers everyday. On Sundays, it is a time to take a break from vacuuming. On birthdays, you organize your own. We had a wall of our own until '89, and I've accepted that change.]
Dafna: [Are you saying that I'm wrong? I don't give a damn about your culture! All the wrong people should die!]
Beatrix grabbed onto the wheel of watermill. The wheel got loose. This had shocked Dafna.
Beatrix: [There are all sorts of people, and they make the world very colorful place. Instead of forcing people to see from your perspective, you should think of why there's been a grievance.]
As Beatrix took off on the wheel, the IOF appeared. They surrounded Dafna and arrested her.
As for Soran, he was worried about his father.
Boulos: Stay out of this son. What's important is that you live to save our people.
Boulos was out of ammunition. He then dropped to his knees. Just when the IOF were about to come out, Shapira appeared and dragged Boulos onto the loader.
Shapira: You wish to be a hero for your people? You got a choice. (Pointing a gun at Boulos) You want your yāba to live, turn yourself over to the IDF. You want to repay your áhil, do you not? Make yourself a hero and go to prison!
To be continued…
