(10 years before the war)

The world was perfect for Aqua. This paradise was created by her father along with her siblings and she couldn't ask for more.

The Land they stood on was created by her brother Terra, The God of Rock.

The lush green trees that the ground supported were created by her sister Natura, Goddess of Life.

The sun that gave the leaves light and warmth was created by her brother Ifrit, God of Fire.

And finally, the liquid mass that contrasted the land's green surface with its deep blue was created by Aqua, the Goddess of Water.

All four beings were created by their father, who had surrendered his powers for their creation. And they now lived to serve him. No being walked the earth except for the 5 of them, excluding Natura's creations.

Aqua always thought that she was useless since water did not do anything. Water did not serve any purpose but being a substance different from Terra. It did not support the ground, it did not give life and it did not light the world itself. It was just a mere substance that was also supported by Terra's land.

But Father always reassured her that she served a purpose in the world, that she mattered. That is why Father was precious to her, why she was his most loyal follower. Dedicating her time to serve him at a moment's notice while her siblings played with the world around them.

Aqua was then Father's eyes, ears and hands, if anyone got out of line she corrected them with Father's authority. She continues to walk in the forest towards Natura's domain to punish her as Father requested.

(10,000 years into the war)

"So what if I am the Goddess of Life?" Aqua looked at the child with a more hostile stare.

"I just brought it up. Since you are the Goddess of Life and I'm the Goddess of Death, I think we contrast quite a bit." The little girl responded.

"How did you get in here without me noticing?" Aqua interrogated.

"I was already in Ms.Starling's presence the second she died, I then guided her to the afterlife. You don't get to see that process."

"Fine, but that's beside the point. What do you want and why are you here with me now?" Aqua gets back to their topic in focus. She's a bit scared that she will find out she dies at this moment if that is how it worked with Ms.Starling.

She still keeps her blank face despite it.

"All I want is to meet a fellow god." The child responded.

"You just did, you can leave now." She replied coldly.

Upon hearing Aqua's response, the girl started pouting like a child, her expression turned from a blank face to an upset expression. Her face started to become red with anger.

The little girl lets out a deep inhale.

"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT TO ME BIG SIS?!" The girl screamed.

"Huh?! Big sis?!" Aqua muttered as she was hit with a sudden wave of confusion that left her mouth agape internally still keeping her blank expression. She wonders what happened to the blank face she was making a minute ago.

Aqua looked worried as the child started to stomp towards her with her little child-like feet.

"YOU COULD HAVE AT LEAST NAMED ME!"

Upon reaching her at a small distance, the girl started to pound her sister's stomach with punches like a child would do in a tantrum.

"TAKE THIS! AND THAT!" The child of death screamed as she punched Aqua repeatedly.

Aqua tanks the hits made by her sister without effort, surprisingly the god of death had childlike strength. Aqua sighs in relief. If her siblings did this to her instead, she would be on the ground clutching her stomach.

"Fine! I'll name you, just stop doing that!" Aqua couldn't take the child's tantrum anymore. Aqua then remembers how she was next to crying to shock in mere moments.

"REALLY?!" She then smiled while hugging Aqua's armored waist. Her smile was so bright that it temporarily blinded and burned Aqua's eyes.

"I just said I will," Aqua responded.

"THEN WHAT IS IT?!"

"Give me time to think first!"

For being a Goddess of Death, she was pretty young and immature. Aqua started to think of a name that fit the girl in front of her.

"How about…. Neph? In short, Nephthys." Aqua suggested the name as the short version sounded cute as it fit the goddess' childlike nature.

"That sucks! Come up with another sis!"

This girl was ungrateful, wasn't she?

"Fine. What about Hel?" Aqua suggested another with the same principles in mind.

"Ok! That sounds better!" The child now named "Hel" said as she started squealing in joy.

"My name is Hel! My name is Hel! My name is Hel!"

Aqua wonders why Hel started repeatedly screaming her name like a cultist praising its god. Especially when they're not far from Ms.Starling's old corpse, is it disrespectful that a child is screaming in joy?

It was not long before Hel started talking to her sister again.

"Hey, big sis? Where does the name Hel come from?" Hel suddenly questions.

"Well, Hel originates from my head after you denied the previous name I chose for you," Aqua responded.

"Big sis is so cool!" Hel responded.

"Uh.. Thanks?"

Aqua then looks at Hel's figure, and it begins turning translucent, Aqua thinks she must be seeing things but upon a closer look, she is definitely seeing her sister disappearing in front of her in real time.

"Your body!"

Hel looked down at her body in response.

"Oh…. It seems I'm needed elsewhere." Hel had a sad expression upon realizing that she would leave her older sister.

"May we meet again one day. Big sister!" Hel said as she hugged Aqua one last time before fully vanishing.

"Not even a thank you?"

(XXX years after the war)

The group was running down the path the giant bat left with its fight with Kazuma. Darkness was in front of the other members of the group due to her better stamina, while the other two were left panting.

"H-how long… does this path go?!" Megumin asked with tired breaths in between her words.

"We've only been running for a minute, so I suspect a long way to go" Darkness responded as she sprinted without breaking a sweat(much to her dismay).

"AHH JUST KILL ME ALREADY!" Aqua screamed as she used some of her remaining strength to push on.

"Megumin, would you like me to carry you?" Darkness said as she turned to the mage.

"Thank you!" Megumin said as she leapt into Darkness' back.

"Hey! Aren't you supposed to say that to me?!" Aqua screamed.

After running for another excruciating twenty five seconds, they arrive to see an unconscious Kazuma on the ground.

"Kazuma!" Megumin screamed as she got off Darkness and ran towards his body. She kneeled beside Kazuma's head before noticing his skin being paler than usual.

"Look at his neck!" Darkness said as she pointed to two holes in Kazuma's neck presumably done with two fangs.

"This is a vampire's work." Aqua pointed out as she clenched her fist with the hatred of unholy creatures.

"But is he alive?!" Megumin asked with a worried tone.

Aqua puts two fingers on his neck and feels a pulse.

"He is.. but it's a faint pulse. I need to heal hi-"

"Aqua watch out!" Darkness screamed. Aqua and Megumin both turn around to see the same large bat prepared to lunge at them as it flies towards them.

Darkness proceeded to tank the hit as she was behind the two but was knocked away when doing so.

"Darkness!" Megumin shouted.

"Megumin, watch over Kazuma! I'll take care of the vampire!"

Megumin nodded as she quickly tried to lift Kazuma's unconscious body, but was surprised to lift it easily from the lack of blood and quickly ran away to where Darkness landed.

As Aqua looked for the bat again, she was surprised to find out that she couldn't spot it despite it being within her vision before turning to Megumin.

Before she knew it, Aqua groaned when she felt a sharp pain on her shoulders as the bat used its claws to lift her off the ground.

"Aqua!" Megumin screamed as she clutched Kazuma's body, her figure getting smaller as the bat lifted Aqua higher and higher.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" Aqua screamed while it brought her higher. She could see that they were now at a very concerning height.

"LET ME GO YOU FILTHY- TURN UNDEAD!" Deciding to do something mid-sentence, Aqua raised her hand and covered the beast in a blinding golden light. The giant bat screamed, it was what she expected.

That bat was the vampire.

Much to Aqua's dismay, the result of the spell only made the bat scream in pain and made its wings catch on fire instead of vaporizing. But she quickly realized if it were to do that, then she would have fallen to her death and internally gives the bat a small bit of gratitude for not doing that.

As the bat screamed, it used its remaining strength to glide towards the ground once more, despite having holes in its wings. Aqua thinks the bat is going to kill her by dragging her through the dirt but it surprisingly drops her down gently.

"Huh?"

The injured bat fell to the ground, with a giant poof of smoke, the vampire was revealed to be an old man. His left arm almost completely turned to dust and there are multiple spots of gray throughout his body. The man fell to his side.

"T-thank you. You know? I was actually aiming at you first." The vampire said as he coughed.

"Go ahead, finish me."

Aqua raises her palm ready to spell another turn undead, but finds herself hesitating. Is it because he saved her life? No, that was because he was the one who lifted her in the first place! Then…. Sympathy?

"Why do you want me to do this?" Aqua asked, her usual cheery, cocky and hateful filled tone for the undead vanished.

The old vampire looked at her surprised.

"I didn't actually think you'd ask me that… But for one last time, I think I will…" He said.

"My name is Nikolai De Beumont, I was turned into a vampire one thousand years ago…. After doing the usual evil things I met my wife…. A human…." The old man shared.

"For her, I put my evils aside but… Two hundred years ago she passed…. Another kind spirit for the heavens… But during these two hundred years, I've felt meaningless without her, as I took care of our son… I yearned for her to return…I could not replace her…" Nikolai added.

"So you want to die? Why didn't you bring your son for this moment?" Aqua asked.

"Because...He's strong enough….. And…. I've done enough…. I have left behind…… something beautiful…" He croaked.

Memories flash through his mind, his son being a half-human half-vampire is now one of the most powerful vampires in history. He already has a family and does not need to worry about his old man anymore. Perks to marrying an immortal, you don't grieve their death.

Aqua crouches, goes to Nikolai's side and holds his hand on his remaining arm.

"A Goddess comforting me in my death? I could have never… expected that in a holy being…Thank you"

Nikolai started a coughing fit before saying his last words.

"I'm almost there…. Matilda…" He looks at the sky before closing his eyes for one last time. His body fully turns into dust.

Aqua looks at the dust as the wind takes it with its current, she looks at the night sky. Aqua looked a bit sad, in tandem with her memories of the rubble she just visited, she was reminded of another old being who wished to die after doing enough.

Is what she has done not enough in her life?

Why was she forced to forget and remember?

Aqua then suddenly felt two feminine hands wrapped around her.

"No need to be so sad. I made him qualified to go to heaven to see his wife." a voice said.

"Life has purpose, long or short. It could be love after hundreds of years. You just don't know what yours is yet, and that's ok, there is always something more grand you can achieve!"

Aqua turns around to see a teenage girl who looks around Megumin's age wearing a black dress, dress gloves and heels, similar to someone attending a funeral.

"Hel? Did you dye your hair?" Aqua asked.

An older Hel looks at Aqua, smiling a bit as she is in the presence of her older sister.

"Yeah! Does it look nice?" Hel proceeded to twirl around as her brown hair flowed freely with her new pigtails.

"It looks very nice!" Aqua complimented. Although Hel usually had black hair, it was nice for it to change for once. Hel smiles in response to her compliment.

It was a very long time since these two ever saw each other, since Aqua was in charge of judging the souls and Hel was in charge of taking their hand to the afterlife, both don't get to meet often after the war.

"You know Aqua? I was really angry when you didn't recognise me! But…. I guess it was because of my hair."

She was partially right, her hair now had two pigtails and was dyed a completely other color.

But what completely threw her off was what Hel said next.

"Well… where have I missed you then?" Aqua asked.

"During the death of your first party member."

Aqua now had a shocked expression.

"You were there when Kazuma died? Wait…. you were-"

"The girl that he tried to save." Hel finished.

"Does that mean… you got him killed?"

"Nonononono! I didn't do that!" Hel nodded her head as fast as she could while she said that.

"What did you do then?" Aqua said.

"I altered how you saw his death," Hel responded.

"Originally he was hit by a truck, but it was a hit and run leading to a painful death. But, I've altered his perception of how he did die as well. I also made him forget me." She added.

"Isn't that illegal?" Aqua asked.

"Who enforces those rules? It's me, duh!" She pointed to herself while she said that.

"So why did you do it?"

"He had a pretty lonely life, so I decided to make him qualified for the new Fantasy gig the other gods set up and sent him on his way."

"You are too kind..." Aqua told her. It was true, especially when Hel was the one that led Nikolai back to his wife.

"Not as kind as you, big sis!" Hel said in return.

Aqua was surprised to hear that.

"Thank you, Hel." Aqua said as she hugged Hel tightly.

Hel smiled as she patted her sister on her back.

"You've been resurrecting Kazuma often lately. Although I hate that spell, you should do it alone so we can meet again. I've been quite lonely…." Hel said as her body began to disappear.

"I'll try and do it, I'll be happy to see you again sis!" Aqua said in response.

"Thank you, I hope I'll see you one day," Hel thanks Aqua before fully disappearing.

Aqua smiles, although this phrase from the Goddess of Death may scare mortals, it brings her joy.
