Scroll four: The dancing dead.

Each of the men moved Kagome and I into sitting positions rather roughly I might add. I fixed my eyes on the huge man in front of us, but something seemed off about him. 'His eyes they look weird like he's not actually looking at anything. Maybe he's got some serious lazy eye.' I thought. BRRP RAAP 'Was that noise? I almost sounds like a nesting bird.' I thought confusion littering my face. "The jewel…. Of four souls." The leader said slowly reaching for Kagome grabbing her harshly and throwing her back to the floor somehow managing to grab the jewel. Me and Kagome stared at the man in shock. "Oh..!" Kagome gasped out. 'Not only monsters but also men… who are sometimes worse.' Kaede's earlier words flowed through my head. 'So, this is what she meant.' I thought. "No! give it!" Kagome exclaimed shoving the man. He grabbed his sword planting it mere inches from Kagome's face. Kagome flung herself backwards backing into one of the wooden pillars. "Huh… …hold er…." The leader commanded. "Wha…?" The man who was holding Kagome earlier grabbed her while the man who held me let me go in order to grab onto Kagome hoisting her into a standing position. One asked face shocked "There what…" The other said confused. As I stood to my feet I noticed the leader raise his sword to Kagome. "OH NO YOU DON'T." I shouted rushing over and slamming myself into the man's side he didn't move not in the slightest. "Gonna kill her." "What a waste." "At least there's another one. Hope boss decides not to kill er too." Different men around the room stated right after each other.

He took and swung down slashing one of the men holding Kagome and throwing me backwards across the room. "ASAMI." Kagome shouted. "I'm fine." I stated. "Uh…?" The man who got sliced with the sword muttered before dropping to the floor dead. "Woah." Me and Kagome said simultaneously. "M-Master?!" The rest of the men exclaimed. "Made a…" The leader started before he was stopped. BRAAP 'Huh that noise again. Is it coming from inside his chest?' I thought to myself. "Mistake." The leader finished. 'What the hell how do you mistake a teenage time traveler from a bandit? There's something seriously wrong here.' I thought to myself. "This time… Your neck!" The leader exclaimed holding his sword in the air. "Asami is it me or is there something not right about him." Kagome whispered to me. "It's not just you there's something seriously wrong with this guy." I whispered back. "You… Die!" The leader of the bandits said. "NO WAY!" Kagome screeched grabbing my arm we started running. As he swung his sword he barely missed us. THUNK Kagome and I turned our heads to the noise. I instantly paled on the floor were two severed heads. "Master what are you doing?!" One of the remaining men shouted. HURP. "He doesn't care who he kills. Not even his comrades are safe." I whispered out terrified. As the bandit leader approached us we walked backwards away from this psycho. I looked around the room for anything even remotely close to us that could be of use. As Kagome took another step back she tripped over something. "STOP! NO CLOSE!" Kagome shouted standing in front of me brandishing the spear she tripped over. "A SPEARS LONGER! YOU'LL NEVER..." Kagome started but was cut off by the bandit slicing the spear in half. 'This it we're so dead.' I thought to myself. "Kagome if we die I love you." I told her clutching onto the back of her shirt. "I love you too Asami." Kagome said. As the bandit swung down on us Inuyasha came bursting through the side of the hut. Before the bandit's sword could harm us Inuyasha jumped in front of Kagome. The bandit's sword hit Inuyasha and broke on contact.

"What?!" One of the men said. "Who would dare…?!" Another of the men questioned. "You… you came to save.." Kagome started. "Where's the Shikon jewel?!" Inuyasha cut her off. "…To save… me?" Kagome finished a questioning tone in her voice. "THE JEWEL!" Inuyasha yelled at her. 'Does she really believe Inuyasha came to rescue her? Does Kagome like Inuyasha? She said she saw him on her walk yesterday did something happen between them?' I questioned myself. Inuyasha stood before the bandit leader. HARP RAAP "So… here you are." Inuyasha stated before pulling his sleeve up to his nose. "What a vile scent. The scent…. Of a half-decayed corpse!" Inuyasha finished. "Huh?" Kagome said barely audible. "A corpse!" I stated shocked. "Show yourself CROW DEMON!" Inuyasha exclaimed lunging and slashing the man with his claws.

Cutting the bandit leader's armor off and knocking his sword from his hand. A shrill squawking noise was heard before a three-eyed bird emerged from the man's chest. Audible gasps could be heard throughout the room. "EEEEEEEE." Kagome screamed. "AHH WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!" I shouted. "It's a crow demon and it's been eating chest all night. To make itself a cozy little nest." Inuyasha told us. "The master… He's dead?" One of the men questioned it. "I thought he was actin' strange…" Another of the men said. "That's so sick." Kagome said. "

CAW CAW CAW The demon bird squawked. "Too weak to fight your own battles…. Or even to manipulate the living, eh?!" Inuyasha said to the demon in a taunting tone. The dead man reached down to pick up his fallen sword. The corpse lifted his sword high in the air as Inuyasha dashed to the corpse he shouted. "Come out of that putrid mass!" Inuyasha shoved his hand into the hole in the corpse's chest. The demon flew out of the back of the corpse causing the dead bandit to fall into Inuyasha's arms. "Inuyasha it has the jewel!" I yelled and pointed at the demon bird. "Yeah, I can see that." Inuyasha stated.

The demon started flying towards the window when Inuyasha exclaimed. "I won't let you!" He lunged at the demon barely missing it as it flew out of the window. "STOP, YOU COWARD!" Inuyasha shouted. He whipped his head around as if looking for something. I looked down to see a bow and a basket of arrows he picked them up and then came over to where me and Kagome were. "Come!" Inuyasha commanded grabbing Kagome's arm and hoisting her onto his back. "We're going after the stupid bird so you need to go back to the village it's too dangerous here for you." Inuyasha stated. I opened my mouth to protest but before I could he dashed out the door after the demon crow. I turned to look at the terrified bandits. "If I were you I'd leave before that thing comes back and kills you guys." False confidence shown on my face and in my voice. As soon as those words left my mouth I saw the color drain from their faces. "We got to get out of here." One of the men shouted before they all rushed out of the old hut. I waited 5 minutes making sure the bandits didn't come back before I booked it in the direction of the village.

After what felt like an eternity of running I was finally passing by all the huts in the village I could feel my lungs burning and my legs felt like they were on fire. 'When I get home I'll never skip gym class again." I thought to myself. As I made my way through the village I finally spotted lady Kaede speaking to one of the villagers. "L-lady K-k-Kaede." I panted out as I approached the pair.

"Ne child where's the fire?" Lady Kaede asked I could hear the concern in her voice. "T-the-re was a uh c-crow de-demon and K-agome and Inu-Inuyasha went a-fter it. It took th-the sacred j-jewel." I huffed out. "Can you fetch me a horse please." Kaede asked the man with her. "Yes Lady Kaede." The man spoke before dashing off to get a horse. "What happed?" Lady Kaede questioned. I recounted to Lady Kaede of the events so far as I finished telling her everything that happened the man came back with the horse. As the man got off the horse Lady Kaede hopped on it. "Thank you." She said to the man before looking at me.

"Which way did they go?" She asked concern washing over her face. I pointed to the direction they took off towards. "Asami stay here." Lady Kaede told me before I could protest she took off on her horse. I pouted. 'Why do I have to stay behind.' I thought to myself as I watched her ride to Inuyasha and Kagome's aid. I stood there dejected. "Ne child it's for the best. You aren't a priestess, nor are you a man the battlefield isn't a place for a girl like you. You'd just get in their way." The man told me.

If looks could kill this man would defiantly be dead. "Are you implying because I'm not a man or a priestess that because I'm an ordinary girl I'm useless?" I questioned pissed. "Well, if they thought you useful they wouldn't've left you behind." The man stated smugly before walking off.

'What an asshole. I'm not useless though am I?' I questioned myself before storming off in the direction of Lady Kaede's home to wait for their return.
