Hello everyone,
It's been quite some time since I've visited this fandom. I have started writing the sequel to this story (2 years later). I've decided to add this prologue here to catch you guys back up. The next upload will be the official Chapter 1 on the next story. The Zootopia fandom is pretty much dead now but this is a story I've wanted to tell for awhile now. Hopefully someone out there enjoys it. See you down below.

The Lykoi Prologue
Prologue
A moment of silence followed as the mammal revealed her name on the other end on the line. It was a name Judy hadn't heard in a very long time – 6 years to be exact. She turned around gazing at Nick and her son Jacob who were both relaxing on the living room couch. Both foxs' were preoccupied with scrolling through Petflix – seemingly paying no attention to Judys phone call. The bunny turned facing the kitchen cabinets. She covered her paw around the phone speaker to conceal the voice on the other line.
"Silvia..Vines?" Judy whispered quietly with a hint of disbelief. Her ears perked up anticipating the confirmation although the answer was obvious. Judy only knew one Silvia her entire time living in Zootopia. An ocelot she was partnered with at the ZPD.
"Yes.." the cat on the other line replied with a nervous laugh. "Long time...um..h-how have you been?" Silvia rubbed her head. Despite her and Judy ending on a higher note after what she'd done to her – to both her and Nick – she wasn't exactly sure where she stood in her life. Hopefully as some sort of friend.
Memories rushed through Judys mind hearing the voice of her former partner. So much time had passed that it felt like a completely different life since they spoke. A lot had changed since their last encounter; her and Nick moving into a house and adopting their son Jacob. Both of them deciding to quit the police force in favor for a more peaceful life.
"I..I've been doing well.." Judy finally spoke after what felt like an eternity. "How has everything been with you?"
Silvia peeped over at her daughter sitting beside her on the bed. A smile emerged on her face. "We're doing alright. I just figured it had been awhile and I wanted to reach out and catch up."
"We?" Judy questioned slightly confused. Was Silvia with another mammal? A moment of pondering followed before it finally clicked. "Wait.."
"Hi!" Trinity blurted out abruptly. "Are you one of mommys old police friends from Zootopia?" The tiny mammal scooted closer to her mom nearly putting her face against the phone.
"And that would be my hyper active daughter." Silvia laughed giving Trinity a light nudge on the shoulder. "She's on speaker you don't need to eat the phone Trin."
"Oh!" Judy reacted in surprise. "Hello there...um..yes you could say that." A warm smile overcame her muzzle. Silvia was pregnant when they last saw each other. "I'm Judy by the way. What's your name?"
"Trinity" the tiny mammal replied proudly. She looked up at her mother who gave her a wink.
"Well Trinity it's nice to meet you." Judy answered leaning against her kitchen counter. By this time Nick had taken notice of how long the bunny was on the phone.
"Movie is about to start" he called out clearing his throat. Jacob looked over at his mom.
"Yeah mom it's starting!" the young fox chimed in full of excitement. "Hurry before you miss the good stuff!"
"Just a second" Judy called back. "Oh goodness.." she let out a sigh. As if one Nick wasn't enough, raising a mini version of him took a lot out of her. Not that she didn't love both of them, but being the independent bunny she was; more often than not she missed her alone time.
"We'll let you go Judy" Silvia quickly spoke up. "I just wanted to say hello..it was so good hearing your voice again really.."
"Will you be available to talk later?" Judy asked eagerly not quite ready for the conversation to end. Many more questions had come to mind. What all happened after that night 6 years ago? Was Silvia still here somewhere living in Zootopia? And now she's a parent.
"Yeah..besides running to the store I'll be free to talk. Trinitys bed time is 8:30 so I can call back around then?"
Trinity raised an eyebrow. "But I wanna talk more with Judy too!" She pouted folding her arms. "Hey Judy could you arrest a few mean kids at my school?" she giggled nudging her moms shoulder.
"Okay enough" Silvia spoke with a bit of sternness to the child.
"Aw.." Judy blushed. This young mammal was seemingly full of energy. "I'm sure we will get the chance to talk again soon Trinity." Judy assured. "And yes 8:30 to 9 ish should work for me."
"Okay great. We'll chat later. Enjoy the movie night" Silvia said now standing up from the bed. She stretched her arms and let out a yawn.
"Maybe I'd enjoy it if I hadn't already watched it 50 times" Judy sighed hearing the familiar opening credits from the tv. 'Star Fox again..' she thought shaking her head. "But alrighty then. Talk soon."
"BYE JUDY!" Trinity yelled out now reaching for the phone.
"Stop yelling please" Silvia groaned pulling the phone away from her ear. "Go eat your cereal before I change my mind about you staying home from school today."
"Bye Trinity. Talk soon!" Judy smiled. She set the phone down on the counter now making her way over to the living room couch to join the boys.
"Took you long enough. Who was that anyway?" Nick questioned leaning back on the couch. Jacob looked over at his mom curious as well.
"Just an old friend" Judy answered quietly. "I'll tell you about it later. Let's watch this movie" Judy plopped down on the couch next to her son. She rubbed Jacobs head while reaching for some popcorn. Nick shrugged now pressing the play button. Unsurprisingly Judy couldn't focus on the movie with the thoughts of Silvia running through her mind. Catching up with her was far more intriguing than the movie – which she had seen so many times she could recite the words.
Later that evening Judy had just finished tucking Jacob in for the night. It was only 8:00 but the young mammal had exhausted himself for the day. Judy made her way to her bedroom where Nick was present laying down reading a magazine. She sat on the edge of the bed letting out a brief sigh.
"You alright?" He questioned now setting the magazine down.
Judy glanced over at him. "Yeah..yeah I'm alright" she nodded. She reached for her phone on the dresser. A text notification appeared on the screen from an unsaved number.
"Putting Trin to bed now. Should be able to call in a few if you still wanted to talk more" the message read.
Nick leaned forward on the bed. "So you gonna tell me who the old friend was on the phone earlier?" He questioned noticing the bunny staring at her phone screen.
Judy hesitated for a moment. Ever since the night 6 years ago Nick finally made peace with his past life regarding his adopted brother. Mentioning Silvias name would likely bring back those memories. She didn't want to remind him of those days, but she wasn't going to lie to him either.
"It was...Silvia" Judy murmured quietly now looking up from her phone. Her eyes shot back down to the screen as she began texting her back. Nick let out a sigh laying back on the bed.
"Peachy" he muttered staring at the ceiling. "What's she been up to?"
"Well..I mean she is a mother now" Judy turned around making her way back to the bed. She crawled up next to him. "That's the furthest I could gather before I got off."
"Cool. Hopefully the kid doesn't take up after her fa-.."
"Nick she's just a child" Judy interrupted defensively. "And sweet from what I gathered." She placed a paw on his arm gently rubbing it.
"Right. That's great and all Judy. Really." Nick turned away from her. "I just don't get why she randomly called you out of the blue and now you're acting funny."
Judy sat up now checking her phone again. "Maybe she needed a friend to talk to" she began with a hint of uncertainty in her voice. "Besides it's been some time since..all of that happened. Don't tell me you still have some resentment towards her. She helped us"
The fox looked back over at her. "I know. I don't think she's a bad mammal" he said averting his gaze to the ceiling. "I guess I just need to warm up to the idea of her being in our lives again." Nick let out a yawn.
"Well I'm going to step out and talk to her for a bit" Judy said now scooting to the edge of the bed. She stood up now walking towards the door. "I'll let my handsome fox get some sleep." She opened the door quietly.
The fox let out a loud yawn. "Goodnight babe" he called out shutting his eyes.
"Goodnight love" the bunny replied gently closing the bedroom door behind her.
She made her way downstairs past the living room towards the patio door. Quietly pulling on the handle, she stepped outside on to the back deck. Conveniently her phone began vibrating right as she was closing the door behind her.
"Hey" Judy answered softly taking a seat on one of the chairs. A cool breeze brushed against her fur as she peered into the night sky. The bunny leaned back making herself comfortable for the long talk ahead.
"Hey fuzz" Silvia greeted from the other end. "You know, I remember the first day we worked together and I called you that" she laughed thinking back to when they first met at Precinct 1. "You looked like you wanted to strangle me."
Judy chuckled. "Oh trust me I remember" she answered with a smile. "You were definitely testing my patience our first shift together."
"Yeah and now I feel like my daughter constantly tests mine" Silvia replied still laughing. "I guess that's karma. Can't imagine when she's a teen how that phase will go."
"Isn't that the truth" Judy sighed thinking of her son. "But..anyway..how have you been Silvia? So much time has passed" she questioned eagerly.
"I've been good. Just surviving doing the single parent thing you know."
"Have you dated anyone since...you know who?" Judy asked hesitantly. The only glimpse of Silvias love life she had seen was with a certain wolf. The thoughts of how her ex treated her somewhat traumatized the bunny. If he did that to Silvia in public Judy couldn't imagine how bad it was behind closed doors. Hopefully that wasn't a constant theme with the mammals she was involved with.
"A few. But it always ends with either me being too secretive about my past or me saying too much and scaring them off" Silvia sighed. "Who knew being an ex girlfriend of a mob boss was so off putting?" She gasped sarcastically. A hint of sadness was present in her voice.
"I mean.." Judy began slowly. "Sure it could be intimidating but it was quite some time ago. It's not like he's still out there.."
The ocelot didn't speak for a moment. A chill crept down her spine imagining Donte still being alive somewhere in Zootopia. The odds likely slim to none, but the possibility still terrified her.
"Just a sec" Silvia spoke quietly. Judy could hear the sound of a door opening and closing on the other end of the line.
"Is everything alright?" Judy asked.
"Yeah I'm good" she answered now with a bit more tone. "Needed to step out of the house. Even though Trinity is supposed to be asleep I don't want to take the chance of her listening to our conversation."
"Does she know anything about him...her father?" The bunny asked cautiously.
"No" Silvia spoke abruptly. "She only knows he was a wolf. As far as she's concerned he passed away."
Now Judy was quiet for a moment. She wasn't sure if Silvia had gotten news that Dontes body was never found in the wreckage of the hotel incident. The entire area was searched according to chief Bogo. No signs of anything.
"Well" the bunny spoke finally breaking the awkward silence. "I guess whenever you feel she's ready to know. Perhaps a bit older wouldn't hurt after a-"
"Judy" Silvia spoke suddenly. "I..I have a request."
"What..what is it?"
Silvia took a deep breath. "My time in Zootopia is done I feel" she began. "Aside from visiting you I have no desire to come back there. But my daughter...I know she will want to be there in the big city – meet new mammals. Experience a life outside of this small island. And as much as I want to protect her I can't hide the world from her forever..I don't want to hold her back."
Judy could relate to every word that was being spoken in that moment. Her parents wanted her to stay and be a carrot farmer in bunny burrow. If she had done that, she would have never met Nick.
"I have a decent amount of money still from my time with...him" Silvia continued. "I..I want to know if Trinity could possibly stay out there with you and Nick around the time she starts High School. I know it's a drastic thing for me to come back and ask all of these years later but...I know it would benefit her greatly." she trailed off. "Trinity being in a two parent home – especially with you and Nick as the role models would help her avoid the some of the mistakes I've made."
Judy was completely lost for words. What could she say to that? What would Nick say?
"Silvia..I..don't know.."
"I will pay for her clothes and food" she insisted. "I should have enough at least until she can get her own job."
"It's not the money Silvia" Judy ensued. "It's just..a lot. It was already a big decision to adopt Jacob. And you're speaking on a commitment roughly 8 years from now when they're both Freshmen in high school. How do you know this is what Trinity would want?"
"I don't" the cat sighed sounding unsure of herself. "But I know it would benefit her greatly to have some of your influence in her life. She already seems to like you."
Judy sat there imagining not one but two teenagers she'd have to look after. The idea didn't sound all that appealing honestly. It was 8 years away though, likely it wouldn't actually happen.
"We'll see where things go Silvia." Judy replied. "It sounds to me like she's happy with you to be honest."
"Yeah.." she spoke softly. "Look I'm sorry that...that was a lot to put on you let's just forget I said anything."
"It's okay" Judy assured rubbing her eyes. She was beginning to get sleepy. "I would like to meet her though. I want to see if I can catch some of her traits she's picked up from you" she teased in attempt to lighten the mood.
Silvia smiled. "Oh you'll see." she yawned now feeling tired herself. "I look forward to meeting again Judy Hopps. Are you still at Precinct 1?"
"Same here my friend and no, Nick and I decided after adopting our son it was best to move away from the field" the bunny replied now feeling the conclusion of the conversation. "I'll have to fill you in sometime. Don't be a stranger."
"I won't" Silvia answered.
The two mammals said their goodbyes over the phone calling it a night. Silvia peered in to the night sky full of stars. A hopeful smile grew across her muzzle.
'Friend...almost forgot what it was like to have one of those'

So as you may have guessed, this story will take place with Trinity being a teenager in Zootopia years down the road. I suppose this would be considered a high school drama with a bit of a twist. Things may not go the way you think. I obviously won't spoil anything but trust me when I say I have a few surprises planned for this fic. Nick and Judy will still be present throughout this story but more as supporting characters. I'm excited to share this one with you guys even though I know most of you may not read it due to the long absence. Regardless, I know someone out there will (hopefully)
I will see you in the next story 'The Lykoi'.
PS: Happy New Years!
