Deja Vu
He sat in hotel room, on the phone, dialing the number. He wasn't surprised that he still remembered it after all these years. 'Well, I dialed it practically every day for years,' he thought to himself. He knew why today was different: she was in town. He had to talk to her. A woman finally answered. After making small talk for a few minutes, he finally asked for her. "She's not here. She's staying at The Peninsula. Room 314," the woman said. He said his goodbyes and hung up the phone. He started to pick up the phone but quickly put the phone back on its receiver. 'No, he has to talk to her in person,' he thought. He looked at his watch. '10am. She'll be downstairs in the hotel restaurant having breakfast by now,' he thought. He left his hotel room, got his car, and drove to the hotel.
He arrived at the hotel and went straight to the restaurant. He stood at the entrance scanning the restaurant for her. No luck. He walked out of the restaurant and headed to the elevators. When it reached her floor, he walked confidently down the hall to room 314. 'I know her better than anyone in the world and there's no way she'd still be in bed at 10:15 in the morning,' he thought as he reached her door and knocked. There was no answer. He knocked again. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming!" he heard from the other side of the door. He was surprised that the voice he heard was male. Not only was it male, but he thought he recognized that voice. 'No. Couldn't be. He wouldn't be here. And especially wouldn't be in her room. I know her better than anyone in the world. She would never let that happen. She would never still be hanging around him all these years later,' he thought. As soon as the door opened, he realized just how wrong he was. There was David Addison, half asleep, with messy hair wearing pajama pants. David was too groggy to realize exactly who it was that was standing on the other side of the door in front of him. "I must have the wrong room. I was looking for Maddie," the man said shocked that David Addison was really in town. As the man was about to turn to walk away, he heard a very familiar voice behind David. He looked past David and he saw her: Maddie, standing there in a robe, clearly fresh out of the shower. She was surprised to see who had been knocking on the door. Finally she asked "Sam, what are you doing here?"
