Chapter 64: Pregnancy Progressions
Santana's POV
*Monday 22nd July 2024*
Our vacation with our friends is over now and we're already back at work. It was good while it lasted but it's back to normal now. The kids are at daycare at the moment so Brittany and I are hard at work in the office. We're both just working on our own parts of the business when we suddenly hear very loud voices, shouting to each other. I have no idea who it is but they're going to get a stern talking to for disrupting everyone at work.
"Who even is that?" I ask as my wife and I march along the corridor to locate the sound.
"I think it sounds like some of the people from production. Maybe Leah and George" Brittany says as we make our way to the production department.
"Well, they won't be making noise for much longer once I'm there" I say seriously.
"I know" Brittany nods.
"What the fuck is going on in here?" I ask outraged as we walk into the department.
"We were just having a discussion" Leah replies.
"A discussion?" I question. "It wasn't a discussion; it was a full-on shouting match. People from the other side of the world could probably hear the two of you" I state.
"What is going on anyway? What is this supposed discussion about since it's so damn loud?" Brittany asks.
"It's kinda personal" George says with a sigh.
"Personal?" I question. "Nah, that doesn't work for me. You're at work and you work for me so your personal lives do not factor in here" I say seriously.
"Sorry, we won't continue the discussion. We'll finish it later when we leave work" Leah assures me.
"Good" Brittany nods.
"Back to work, the pair of you" I say strictly before Brittany and I leave again.
"This is the thing, being in a relationship and working together is just messy. It just doesn't work" Brittany states as we walk back to our office.
"It doesn't?" I ask. "Are you sure about that?" I question.
"Yeah, because you end up bringing your relationship issues into work and then if you split up and start dating other people then everyone is working with everyone's exes" she says.
"Remind me again, you're married to who?" I ask smartly.
"Yes, I know I'm married to my boss so we have a relationship in the workplace. I'm not talking about us though because we're different. I am talking in general terms. Relationships in the workplace are messy" Brittany replies.
"I guess some of them can get messy" I admit. "I can't exactly do anything about it though because I'd be a hypocrite. I can't enforce a no dating policy in the workplace when you and I are married. Plus, Jack and Jade are together as well and they're such an asset to us and the company so that would affect them too" I point out.
"That is true" Brittany nods.
"I'll send out an email or something addressing some issues about workplace relationships but like I say, I can't put an end to it completely" I say.
"We'll just need to deal with it the best we can" Brittany agrees.
After working for another few hours, it was eventually time to stop. Brittany and I both got our things together and then headed to the daycare to get our children. We talked to some of the staff for a few minutes to see how Jaxon and Xavier were doing at daycare today before we all left and headed outside to make our way to Brittany's car. Brittany is pushing Xavier in his stroller while I'm taking Jaxon's hand in mine as we walk through the parking lot.
"How was your day?" I ask Jaxon.
"Busy" Jaxon tells me.
"It was busy, was it?" Brittany asks amused.
"Toys, nap, food, toys, toys" Jaxon lists off.
"That does sound very busy" I say. "What toys were you playing with today?" I ask my son.
"Trucks" Jaxon replies.
"Anything else?" I ask Jaxon.
"Played house" Jaxon shrugs.
"You played house?" I ask my son, a mix between surprise and amusement.
"Yes" Jaxon nods.
"Was it with Lisa?" Brittany asks.
"Yeah" Jaxon shrugs again.
"I think she is your little girlfriend because Jess told me you play with her a lot" Brittany teases Jaxon.
"Oh, that's very cute" I smile at my son.
"Played with doll" Jaxon shrugs.
"This is way too cute. I cannot imagine Jaxon playing with a doll so the fact he's doing it with his little friend at daycare is just adorable" I say.
"Yeah, it really is cute" Brittany agrees.
"So, what about you sweetie, how's your day been?" I ask my youngest son. He doesn't reply verbally, he just shrugs at me.
"I am guessing you had a busy day too because you look tired buddy" Brittany says. "I think it might be bedtime a little sooner than usual tonight once you've had some dinner" she adds.
"I think so too" I nod in agreement.

*Tuesday 23rd July 2024*
It's my sister's 25th birthday today but she didn't want much of a fuss, she just wanted to have dinner with her family, so we're all going to my parents' house tonight. My mom and dad are cooking so it's worked out well because not only do I get to spend time with Carly but my wife and I also get a night off cooking. Brittany and I haven't long finished work so we're just getting changed and getting the boys ready to go to my parent's house.
"Is this like a formal thing tonight or do I dress casual?" Brittany asks me.
"I mean we're not going out to a restaurant or a party but I was going to wear something decent since the whole family will be there. I can't have pictures put on socials of me posing for birthday pictures with my sister in my sweatpants" I point out.
"Can I wear my black skinny jeans but like pair it with a nice top and some heels?" my wife asks me.
"Yeah, that would work" I smile. I love it when she asks me for fashion advice because it is one of the things I'm very good at.
"What are you wearing?" Brittany asks me curiously as she looks over at me.
"I don't actually know yet. I'm too busy trying to get this restless little guy to let me change his clothes" I laugh as Xavier won't let me change him.
"Xavier, why don't you want to get changed?" Brittany asks our youngest son as she begins helping me. He doesn't reply, he just shrugs at us.
"I think you just want to play with your toys but you can't because we need to get ready to go out" I tell Xavier.
"You've got toys at gran and grandpa's house so the sooner we change your clothes, the sooner we can leave and go there and play with the toys" Brittany says.
"Exactly" I agree.
"Ok" Xavier sighs. He then let's us finish changing him.
"Ok Jax, you just need to get your shoes on now so mommy will help you do that while I decide what I want to change into" I tell Jaxon.
"Ok" Jaxon smiles at me.
As soon as we're all ready and changed for the dinner, we head outside and into my car. We get everything loaded into the back and make our way to my parent's house. Once we're there, we then have to unload everything and take it all inside. As soon as we all enter the house, Carly is there to greet us in the hallway.
"Happy birthday" I say as I hug my sister.
"Thanks" Carly smiles at me.
"Yeah, happy birthday" Brittany says before hugging Carly.
"Are you going to wish auntie Carly a happy birthday?" I ask my children.
"Birthday!" Jaxon says excitedly as he holds his hands up in the air for Carly to pick him up.
"That's right, it is my birthday" Carly smiles as she lifts Jaxon up into her arms.
"So how are you?" I ask my sister.
"I'm good, how are you guys?" Carly asks.
"We're great" Brittany smiles.
"Yeah, we're looking forward to tonight having some time with the whole family" I add.
"Speaking of family, where is everyone?" Brittany asks curiously.
"My mom is in the kitchen cooking while Laura is helping her. My dad and brother are in the living room and none of the grandparents are here yet" Carly replies.
"And your girlfriend, where is she?" I ask.
"Jess is in the bathroom actually but I left that part out since I didn't think you'd need to know that" Carly laughs.
"Fair enough" I smile.
"Ok, I am going to see if they need help cooking so why don't you take the kids to the living room to hang out with everyone else?" Brittany suggests.
"Ok" I smile at my wife.
Brittany goes to the kitchen to help cooking while my sister helps me get Jaxon and Xavier to the living room with all of their stuff. Jessica soon joins us in the living room and we all catch up with each other. It was actually quite nice because the kids were desperate to see my dad and I think he was just as desperate to see his grandchildren too. My sister and I are just having our own conversation right now while some of the others are chatting.
"How are you and Brittany?" Carly asks.
"We're good" I smile.
"You two seem to be in a better place at the moment. I mean not long ago you were concerned about Brittany and how she was dealing with the surrogacy but things seem ok now" Carly says.
"Yeah, everything has been cleared up. I mean I'm not saying it's easier now but we both know where we stand and we're going to get through it together" I say.
"That's good then" Carly smiles.
"Hey Santana, can I have a quick word with you at some point about work?" Jessica asks me.
"Sure" I nod. "We can talk now if you want" I add.
"Ok, thank you" Jessica smiles.
"We'll be back in a second" I tell my sister as Jessica and I leave the room to talk. We're only talking for a few minutes before I notice my wife leave the kitchen and walk towards us.
"You two better not be talking about work" Brittany teases.
"Guilty" Jessica laughs.
"Carly is your sister Santana, and your girlfriend Jess so you better stop and spend time with her" Brittany says.
"We won't be a minute" I state.
"Honey, if the shoe was on the other foot and I was chatting to people on your birthday instead of paying you attention, you'd be furious. Am I right?" Brittany says.
"Yes" I admit embarrassingly.
"Let's shelf the work talk for a later date then" my wife states.
"Ok, fair enough" I smile.
After we all hung out for a while, my grandparents arrived so we all caught up with them for a moment. Everyone have sort of branched off into their own groups now having their own conversations while we wait on dinner being ready. I'm just having some time, talking to my wife when my dad's parents walk over to us. I could see they were acting a little weird this evening and weren't talking to me as much as everyone else so I'm curious about what's going on.
"So…how's things?" I ask my grandparents.
"Everything is fine with us at the moment" my grandpa replies.
"That's good" I smile.
"Is everything going ok with you all?" my gran asks.
"Yeah, it is" I say, smiling at my wife.
"I've got to say, I still don't understand this pregnancy business, Santana" my gran says.
"I know gran but all you need to know is that I'm doing this for my best friend. It's all above board so don't worry about it" I assure her.
"We just don't understand how Brittany is ok with this. I mean she is your wife and you cheated on her" my grandpa sighs.
"Mr Lopez, Santana did not cheat on me" Brittany assures my grandpa.
"But she's pregnant with someone else's baby" my grandpa states.
"Yes, but it's not even my baby either" I point out.
"My son didn't tell me that" my grandpa replies.
"Wait a minute…what did dad tell you?" I ask my grandparents. Why would my dad not explain the situation.
"Apparently he told us nothing that makes sense" my gran sighs.
"I'm going to talk to him right now before we sit down to dinner" I say.
"Ok well while you do that, I want to find our children and see what they're up to" Brittany tells me.
"Ok" I nod before going to find my dad while Brittany goes to locate the kids.
"Hey, sweetheart" my dad smiles at me as I walk towards him.
"Hi dad, can I talk to you for a second?" I say.
"Yeah" my dad nods as we walk over to the side to talk privately.
"Why do your parents, my grandparents, think I cheated on Brittany?" I ask.
"Oh, I don't know sweetheart" my dad replies confused.
"They just told me that you told them I cheated on Brittany" I state.
"I didn't say that at all" my dad chuckles, clearly as surprised as me.
"What did you say then?" I ask curiously.
"I'll admit I didn't say too much about the whole thing because you know what they're like, they don't like to know certain things especially relationships. I definitely didn't say anything about cheating" he explains.
"Well, they seem to think that I did" I laugh.
"They only hear what they want to hear sometimes. I remember telling them your mom was pregnant for the first time with you and it was very amusing" my dad laughs.
"Why?" I ask curiously.
"They just assumed we'd only ever sleep together if we wanted a baby so to find out you were unplanned was a big shock to them because it meant we slept together whenever we wanted" my dad says.
"Really?" I ask surprised.
"Yeah" my dad nods.
"Wow…I did not even know that" I say.
"Yeah, so basically they're very reserved during certain topics of conversation especially if it involved a child or grandchild having relations with a partner" my dad says.
"I guess I can understand how they got the wrong end of the stick now" I nod.
"Yeah, so don't worry about it. The rest of us all know what's really going on" my dad smiles.
"Ok" I smile back.

We're all sat down to dinner together now. I've got to say, this celebratory dinner for Carly's birthday is definitely better than it was last year. Last year's dinner was very tense because Carly was still dating Matt and we all knew I didn't like Matt. I'm not sure everyone else liked him either but they just didn't mention it like I did. This year, I can definitely see that my sister is happier in her personal life which is great and it also means the rest of us are happier knowing she's happier.
"I think we should raise our glasses and toast happy birthday to Carly" I say.
"Good idea" Brittany smiles at me.
"I think we all have a drink so let's raise our glasses" my dad says. "To Carly, happy birthday" he smiles.
"To Carly" we all say as we raise our glasses in the air and then clink them together.
"So, has it been a lovely birthday so far?" my mom asks Carly.
"Yeah, it really has" Carly smiles.
"You're sporting some nice jewellery there" Brittany says to Carly.
"My girlfriend here actually bought me this necklace for my birthday" Carly smiles.
"I did" Jesscia smiles.
"It's beautiful" I tell them.
"Don't get any ideas babe because Christmas and your birthday are a good few months' away" Brittany teases me.
"I'm just admiring it, don't worry. I don't want you to buy me a necklace right now" I smile at my wife.
"Ok" Brittany smiles back.
"So, what else did you get from your girlfriend?" I ask my sister.
"I got perfume amongst some other things" Carly replies.
"It's her favourite perfume" Jessica adds as she casually kisses my sister's cheek.
"Wait…you two are together?" my gran asks Carly and Jessica.
"They are. I am no longer the only lesbian in this family" I smirk.
"Oh…I see" my gran says surprised.
"I did mention it grandma" Carly points out.
"I know you two were always friends and you mentioned you were closer but I didn't know you split up with Matt to be with Jessica" my gran says.
"Uh…mom, that's not what happened" my dad assures her.
"Yeah, it's really not" I state. "Matt was no good for Carly at all so they split up. Later on in time, she and Jess became a thing" I add.
"We always knew about you Santana but we didn't know that you Carly liked girls too" my grandpa says.
"It's not really a big thing though" my brother shrugs.
"Yeah, as long as all of our children are happy then it doesn't matter who they're with, boy or girl" my dad says.
"Exactly" my mom agrees.
As soon as dinner was finished, we all spent some time together as family. It was then time to get the kids home because it was way past their bedtime already. Once Jaxon and Xavier were settled in bed, Brittany and I got ourselves changed with the intention of relaxing for the rest of the night in front of the TV together.
"Hey" Brittany smiles at me as I walk into the living room.
"Hey" I smile back as I make my way over to her on the couch.
"You, ok?" Brittany asks me. "You seemed a bit quiet when we left your parents' house" she adds.
"I'm fine, I'm just thinking about stuff" I sigh.
"What stuff, tell me" Brittany smiles at me.
"Just my grandparents, they surprised me a bit tonight" I say as I swing my legs up and rest them on Brittany's lap.
"What do you mean?" Brittany asks confused.
"I always knew times were a little different when they all were younger so gay relationships and surrogacies maybe weren't as talked about but tonight was like we've never told them anything before" I admit.
"I think they just didn't really hear you when you were talking to them" Brittany states.
"My dad did say that they only hear what they want to hear" I point out.
"I think he's right but honestly; I don't think they mean any offence by it" Brittany replies.
"I know they don't mean anything is wrong with what we're doing like being gay or the surrogacy however, what I don't like is the fact they haven't been listening. They didn't even know Carly and Jess were a couple, I mean that's a bit rude when she did tell them about it before" I say.
"I suppose you do have a point" Brittany nods in agreement.
"My other grandparents didn't know a lot of gay people until I came out but they at least had the decency to listen to me when I opened up to them" I state.
"It's probably a lot for their generation to understand but I really don't think they mean anything by it. They're used to everything being so black and white so they just find it difficult to comprehend these things" Brittany reasons.
"I do get that but all I am saying is that if they listened to what people tell them then it wouldn't be so hard" I state.
"I know babe and I do agree with you. I don't want you to let it worry you though because life is too short for getting hung up about stuff. They know what's happening now so at least that's something" Brittany says.
"I know, it just annoys me because we're their grandchildren and they don't actually know what is going on in our lives" I say sadly.
"Hey, come here" Brittany says as she opens up her arms for me to relax into.
"I'll be fine in a second, I just need to let all of my thoughts out" I say as Brittany wraps her arms around me.
"Ok" Brittany replies as she hugs me tighter.
"Thank you for listening though" I smile.
"Actually, I've just had a thought" Brittany says as she pulls away a little to look at me.
"Ok" I nod.
"Does your grandparents know Jaxon and Xavier are our kids?" Brittany asks.
"Huh?" I say laughing. "I know they don't listen but I think it's quite obvious Jaxon and Xavier are our kids since they know I've been pregnant twice before" I say amused.
"Yes, I know they know they're your kids but I am asking if they know they are ours, as in you and me together. Do they know Jaxon and Xavier are mine biologically?" she asks.
"Um…I don't actually know" I say while laughing. "I would have said yes normally but after what I've heard tonight then it's possible they don't because I have never fully explained the situation before. I'm not confident my dad has either based on previous conversations" I add.
"Well, if they don't then they don't. At least we know" Brittany smiles.
"Or do we?" I tease. "Maybe Jaxon is the product of my affair with our mailman" I smirk.
"Haha" Brittany smiles at me. "I could believe it if you said it about Xavier because he looks nothing like me, he's all you but Jaxon, he's got some Pierce about him" she states.
"No, both kids are definitely yours" I assure her.
"I thought as much" Brittany smirks as she kisses my cheek.

*Friday 26th July 2024*
Brittany and I have finally finished work for the day so we're just in the kitchen right now making a start on dinner. The boys are playing on the carpet with some trucks where we can see them so Britt and I are both making the dinner since the boys are occupied. I've got to say, I am so glad it's Friday now because it's been a stressful week. The first week back at work after a vacation is always the hardest but it makes it even worse when you're pregnant because your energy levels decrease rapidly.
"Dinner is in the oven now so come here" Brittany smiles as she wraps her arms around me.
"What are we doing?" I ask, smiling back.
"Nothing, I just wanted to have you in my arms for a second" Brittany tells me.
"Ok" I say as I relax into her embrace.
"Wow, did the baby just kick?" Brittany asks me surprised as her hands rest on my stomach.
"Yeah" I nod with a smile.
"Has that happened before?" she asks curiously.
"Yeah, it has" I tell her.
"Has Quinn had a chance to feel the baby kick yet?" Brittany asks.
"Not yet but she knows it's happened" I state.
"I kinda feel bad about that" Brittany admits.
"I know and I do too. In this kinda situation though, things like this are going to happen. I'm sure Quinn is sad she didn't feel it for the first time but I think she understands" I say.
"Yeah, I suppose" Brittany nods.
"Anyway, as much as I love my best friend, we don't need to talk about her right now. We should focus on us and having a little time with our family" I smile.
"I like that" Brittany smiles back. "It's been a busy week so I am looking forward to a full day off tomorrow to spend with you and the boys" she tells me.
"Yeah, I am looking forward to it as well" I smile.
"What do you feel like doing?" Brittany asks.
"Call me boring but I just want a chilled-out day before Sunday" I reply.
"That's cool, we can just hang out here or something. Maybe I'll play in the pool with the kids and have some fun" Brittany smiles.
"Sounds good" I smile back.
"I could even make a really nice dinner for us all because it's been a rushed effort the last few nights with us working and everything" she tells me.
"You don't need to go to any trouble because we're finally having a nice dinner tonight together" I smile.
"I want to treat you all though" Brittany smiles.
"Ok" I nod.
After hanging out for a little while, dinner was ready so all 4 of us sat down together to eat. We then spent some time with the children before it was bath time and then bedtime. We both read a book to them to help them fall asleep before we quietly left the room and went back downstairs. My wife and I watched some TV for a while on the couch before deciding to go upstairs and just get ready for bed. Brittany is already settled in bed now but I've just finished my nightly routine.
"I'm not really that tired right now so I might read a little before I go to sleep" Brittany says as I walk out of the bathroom.
"I don't think there'll be much time for reading tonight" I point out as I walk towards the bed.
"What do you mean?" Brittany asks confused.
"I mean I have other plans for us tonight" I smirk as I get onto the bed and take Brittany's tablet from her hand. I put the device down at the side and move to straddle my wife's lap.
"I like the sounds of that" Brittany smirks back at me as she puts her arms around me.
"I feel in a sexy mood tonight so I thought why not" I shrug as I place my hands on my wife's shoulders to steady myself.
"I like that" Brittany smiles at me.
"I know you were joking the other week but I think tonight I want to prove I can take control when I want to" I smirk at my wife.
"It's never a doubt my mind because I knew you like to be in control sometimes" Brittany smiles at me again.

*Sunday 28th July 2024*
Today is such a special day for my family because it's Xavier's 1st birthday. We're throwing a party at our house for him and our whole family and friends are coming over to celebrate Xavier's birthday. Also, we have lots of things planned for today. We've rented out a bouncy house, we've got games, we've got food and most importantly a kickass birthday cake. I cannot wait for the party to start but first, Xavier needs to get out of bed and open his presents.
"You go and wake up Jaxon while I get Xavier" I tell Brittany as we leave our bedroom.
"Ok" Brittany smiles. We then go to the different bedrooms to get our children.
"Happy birthday baby boy" I say to Xavier as I lift him out of bed.
"Yeah" Xavier says clapping his hands together.
"Your 1 years old today" I smile at my son as I kiss his head. "Shall we go and find mommy and Jaxon?" I ask.
"No need, we're right here" Brittany says as she walks into the room carrying Jaxon.
"Morning sweetie" I tell Jaxon as I kiss him.
"Hi" Jaxon smiles at me.
"Happy birthday sweetie" Brittany says as she leans over to kiss Xavier.
"We're all together now so how about we go downstairs and see what's down there" I smile at Xavier.
"Yes, I think there might be something downstairs for you Xavier since it's your birthday" Brittany smiles.
"Ok, let's go" I say and then the 4 of us all head downstairs and into the living room.
"Presents?" Jaxon asks.
"Yes, Xavier has got lots of presents for his birthday" I smile at Jaxon.
"Do you want to open some of your presents now sweetheart?" Brittany asks Xavier.
"Yes" Xavier says excitedly as he claps his hands together.
After Xavier finished opening his presents, we all had some breakfast together. It was then time to get changed out of our pyjamas and into some clothes. We all managed to spend some time together and play with some of Xavier's new toys before Brittany and I had to get a few things organised for the party. The kids took a short nap while we were getting organised but now the party is beginning to start and some guests have arrived.
"I think Jaxon is enjoying this bouncy house more than the one at his birthday party last year" I say amused as he bounces around.
"Yeah, he was probably too young last year to fully appreciate it" Brittany smiles.
"That's true" I nod in agreement.

"Is that my best friend in a bouncy house?" Quinn asks amused as she and some of the other guests begin to arrive.
"Yes, I am" I shrug. "Jaxon asked me to go in with him so I did" I add.
"I don't know about you but she's lowkey giving me a heart attack bouncing around in there when she's pregnant" Brittany says to Quinn while frowning at me.
"Its fine because it's just Jaxon and I in here right now. If anyone else comes in then I'll get out but right now, there's no harm with just Jax in here" I point out.
"Fine" Brittany nods.
Eventually the rest of the guests arrive at the party so I took that as my cue to leave the bouncy house and let the kids enjoy it themselves. Jaxon and Xavier spent lots of time in it with their little friends and cousins which was so cute. They're now spending time with their grandparents so Brittany and I are getting a chance to catch up with some of the guests. We're just talking to our friends right now.
"It's a nice party today, the kids seem to be having lots of fun" Tina smiles.
"Yeah, it's going well so far" I nod.
"With it being a kids party then I thought they'd be clowns or something as entertainment" Sam points out.
"No, we couldn't have a clown because they creep Brittany out" I state.
"It's true" Brittany nods.
"How do they creep you out?" Mercedes asks amused.
"I don't know, there's just something about the whole makeup of a clown that creeps me the hell out" Brittany says, shuddering at the thought.
"I actually find it quite cute that she's scared of clowns" I say as I wrap my arms around my wife.
"Can we please just move on now; it's creeping me out thinking about them" Brittany states.
"Ok" I smile.

"Today has been such a fun day" Brittany says as she pulls back the covers and gets into bed.
"Yeah, it really has and Xavier looked like he had the best time which was great" I say.
"Yeah, he really did" Brittany agrees.
"It won't be long before we're preparing for another birthday party because Jaxon will be 2 in a couple of months" I say.
"I know" Brittany nods.
"We'll need to think about what we want to do to celebrate his birthday but we don't need to worry about that right now. Let's just relax for the night because it's been a busy day" I say.
"Yeah, I agree" Brittany says as she wraps her arms around me.

*Thursday 1st August 2024*
Brittany and I have been hard at work today in the office while the kids are at day care. It's been a busy day so we haven't really had a lot of time to talk to each other. We're now about to have half an hour to hang out and eat lunch together. Brittany has just come back into the office with the food so we're sitting together at my desk about to eat.
"I am so hungry right now" I say.
"I know, me too" Brittany agrees.
"I feel like I haven't eaten in days" I laugh.
"Well, you are eating for two at the moment so you're bound to be hungrier than you normally would be" Brittany points out.
"That's true" I nod. "Speaking of the pregnancy, I've got the next ultrasound scan tomorrow, do you want to come?" I ask my wife.
"Do you want me to come?" Brittany asks, not really answering my question.
"I want you to do what you want to do" I tell her.
"I want to go to support you but at the same time, it's not really any of my business. Quinn and James will be there to see their baby so I'd probably just be in the way. If you really wanted me to go with you then I would do that though" Brittany explains.
"I want you to do whatever you're comfortable with so don't feel pressured to go at all" I assure her.
"Ok, thank you" she smiles.
"I'm good with whatever you decide" I state.
"I promise I'm not avoiding the situation like I was before. I just want to give you guys some space and let Quinn and James have their moment to see their baby. I know if the shoe was on the other foot then I wouldn't want a big crowd at our scans" she tells me.
"That's fair enough" I nod.
"Like I say though, if you want me there then I'm there. I'll do anything for you" Brittany says.
"I know you will and I appreciate that" I smile.
After we finished lunch, we went back to work. We were supposed to be working on our own things but I wanted to get Brittany's help with some of my work. I say it all the time but even though Brittany doesn't work for my accounts department anymore, she's still always the go to person when I need advice with finance or accounting.
"This is a reasonable profit for this time of year, right?" I say.
"Oh yeah, of course. Your finances look great at the moment" my wife replies.
"That's good" I nod.
"We can always change a few things if you want to make a little more profit" Brittany tells me.
"You look hot" I point out.
"Uh…thank you" Brittany nervously laughs. "It has completely nothing to do with your finances but thank you for the compliment" she adds.
"I know it isn't to do with work but I still wanted to tell you" I smile.

*Friday 2nd August 2024*
Quinn, James and I have just arrived at the hospital for the appointment. It's a little bit different today and not like our other previous appointments. This is the first appointment we're having with my doctor whereas the other appointments have been with Quinn's doctor. We decided to transfer to my doctor because she was with me through my pregnancies with my own children so it made sense to me to stay with her. Plus, I felt more comfortable this way because I didn't really know Quinn's doctor that well.
"Morning Santana, in you come" my doctor smiles as she welcomes us into the room.
"Hi" I smile. "This is my best friend Quinn and her husband James" I say.
"So, you're pregnant again" the doctor smiles.
"I am" I nod. "It's not mine this time though. I'm just the incubator. This is Quinn and James's baby biologically. It's Quinn's egg and James's sperm they're using" I say, starting to ramble nervously.
"I know you had a doctor previously and all the information has been transferred over but I want to kind of gather some of my own information so I know where we're at so I apologise if some of the questions and everything feel repetitive or you've heard them before" the doctor says.
"That's ok, we're happy to do whatever we need to do today" I smile.
"Ok, on that note let's just started" the doctor smiles.
The doctor starts with gathering some information from all of us, asking different questions and stuff. She then runs a few quick tests and then I get onto the table and the doctor gets straight to the ultrasound scan. She did ask if we wanted to know the sex of the baby but Quinn and James wanted it to be a surprise so we won't find that out today.
"Ok, all done" the doctor smiles at me as she hands me some tissue to wipe the extra gel off my stomach.
"So…how is everything?" I ask.
"Everything looks good with the baby so you've got a healthy baby in there" she says as she smiles at Quinn and James.
"That's good" I smile.
"Although, there are a few little things to catch you all up on" the doctor points out.
"Ok" I say sceptically.
"Based on this scan and all the information we have, you're actually 24 weeks pregnant" the doctor smiles.
"No, this is the 20-week scan" I point out.
"It does say here you're booked in for a 20-week scan but based on the information I have and the tests, you're 24 weeks along" she tells us.
"I guess the baby is just further along than we thought" Quinn smiles.
"Uh…yeah" I say hesitantly.
"The baby is definitely progressing well though so it's nothing to worry about. The due date might just be a bit sooner than what you've been told previously" the doctor says.
"That's ok, as long as the baby is healthy then we're happy whenever it comes along" James smiles.
"You're all free to go now and I will see you at the next appointment" the doctor says.
"Ok, thank you" Quinn smiles.
"Yeah, thank you" I nod as the doctor walks us to the door.
"Take care" the doctor says and then we all leave.
"So, what are your plans now?" Quinn asks me as we all walk through the hospital towards the parking lot.
"I think I'm going to head into work and see Brittany for a while. I'm not supposed to be working but I just want to go and see her" I say.
"Ok" Quinn smiles. "James is going to go to work as well but I've got the day off so if you want to come over later and hang out then you're welcome to" she adds.
"I'll see what happens" I nod.
"Ok, we'll talk soon" Quinn smiles and then we go off in different directions towards our cars.

"Uh…hello" Brittany says surprised as she walks into our office to find me sitting in there in the dark and in silence.
"Hi" I say quietly.
"I didn't expect to see you here today because I thought you might have been spending time with Quinn after the hospital appointment" she replies.
"No, I wanted to come and see you" I say.
"That's cute, come here" Brittany smiles as she sits down next to me and kisses me. "So, how did the scan go?" she asks me.
"Ok" I shrug.
"That's good" Brittany nods.
"Can we talk for a second?" I ask my wife.
"I was heading to a meeting in a minute but I could cancel if it's important" Brittany replies.
"It's fine, it can wait" I say.
"I'll catch up with you soon, ok?" Brittany smiles as she stands back up.
"Ok" I nod and then my wife leaves the office.
After sitting and contemplating things for a few minutes, I realise I should go and talk to my best friend. I decided that it was probably better to talk to Quinn first before Brittany anyway so that's where I'm headed now. Today has made me do a lot of thinking and there's something on my mind that I need to discuss with Quinn and Brittany which cannot wait any longer. As soon as I reach Quinn's place, I get out of the car and walk straight over to the door, knocking on it.
"Uh…hi" Quinn says surprised to see me as she opens the door.
"Hey, can we talk?" I ask my best friend.
"Yeah, of course" Quinn smiles. "Let's go through to the living room" she says as she closes the door behind me.
"Ok" I nod as we make our way there and take a seat.
"So…what are we talking about?" Quinn asks curiously.
"It's about the baby" I tell her, not beating around the bush.
"I thought it would be actually because you seemed distracted when we left the hospital" Quinn points out.
"I was distracted and there is a good reason for that" I state.
"Ok" Quinn nods.
"God, there is no easy way to say this so I think I need to just come out with it" I sigh.
"You're scaring me Santana, what's going on?" Quinn asks me worriedly.
"I'm keeping the baby" I state.
