Chapter 5
Manuelmusical14: Yes, and thank you for that observation.
Ainmals1: Thx, and I'll probably think about that.
Hc94436: That part will come in time.
That evening at dinner, Alma informed the family about what was going to happen.
"Everyone, I'm have an important announcement to make." she announced.
Everyone looked at her.
"Tomorrow the Herrera hermanos will be going back to their home, and Mirabel will be going with them."
Hearing that, almost everyone was shocked or surprised, and looked at Mirabel. Pepa even formed a lightning cloud.
"She will be helping Marcos with his powers, but only for about a week or two."
"Mirabel's leaving?" asked Antonio in a sad voice.
Mirabel looked at her younger cousin with a sympathetic look on her face.
"It won't be for long, Tonio." she told him.
When dinner was over, everyone went off to do their own thing. Then there was a knock at the front door, it was the photographer that had taken the family picture at Antonio's gift ceremony.
"Gracias, senior." said Alma, taking the frame.
"De nada, Senora." he replied, and left.
She put it on the wall, and saw Julieta and Augustin walking by.
"Mija, look at how the picture turned out."
When the two saw the photo they were shocked. Everyone was in the picture, except Mirabel. The two looked at each other concerned, and then looked up at Mirabel's bedroom.
Mirabel was inside packing. She had her suitcase on her bed, and was packing up all her clothes, necessities, and her other items.
"I'll only be gone for a couple weeks, but I don't know what I'm in for so I better pack for anything."
Casita then brought over her dresser, and opened the drawer with some of her clothes in it.
"Gracias, Casita."
As she pulled out some clothes, someone knocked at her door.
"Come in."
The door opened to reveal her parents.
"Mirabel, are you sure you want to do this?" asked Julieta.
"Mama, I want to do this. And besides, Marcos is a really nice guy." Mirabel told her.
"But are you sure this isn't about something else?" Augustin wanted to know.
Mirabel looked at her parents, who looked very concerned about her.
"Mama, Papa, really I'm okay. I'm doing this to help Marcos, and it'll be a great experience to see a whole new place." Mirabel explained.
The two could see that Mirabel really wanted to go, and decided to be supportive.
"Okay, mija, just make sure you pack enough clothes and extra blankets." Julieta advised.
"And make sure not to forget anything." added Augustin.
"I will, and I won't." Mirabel replied.
And with that, her parents left. After a few minutes, there was another knock on her door.
"Who is it?"
The door creaked open, and Antonio poked his head in.
"Oh hola, Antonio." she said.
"Mirabel, do you have to go?" he asked her.
"I told you, Tonio. It won't be long, and I'm going for a good reason."
She kneeled down on his level, and hugged him, and Antonio hugged her back. Then Felix poked his head in.
"Mijo, it's time for bed." he told him.
"Okay, Papa." Antonio replied.
"Buenos nochos." Mirabel told him.
And they left.
Mirabel finished packing her things, and was going to get ready for bed, when a thought came to her. What if she couldn't help Marcos? What if she messed thing up? She decided to go see her Tio Bruno about it.
She went to his room, and knocked on his door. Bruno opened it, and was surprised to see her.
"Mirabel, this is a surprise." he said.
"Tio Bruno, I was feeling a little nervous about tomorrow, and I was wondering if you could give me a vision?"
Bruno looked surprised at her comment, but then he began to feel a little nervous. The last time he had a vision about Mirabel, it caused so much distress. But his niece looked desperate, and then answered.
"Sure, come on in."
He let her in, through the sand waterfall, and they went up the long rock stairway.
After the climb, they came to another room that looked like an ancient stone temple.
"All right you just sit here. And I'll see what I can see."
Mirabel took a seat on the ground, and Bruno set up for the ritual. Bruno then stood in the middle, and started to use his gift. His eyes began glowing green, sand began swirling around him, and images began appearing.
And then his vision was finished, he held a piece of green jade.
"So what does it say?" Mirabel asked.
Bruno turned back and let her look at the vision. It showed an image of her and Marcos looking happy together and hugging one another.
"Well, it looks like things between you and this Marcos guy will be fine." he observed.
Mirabel smiled at hearing that.
"Gracias, Tio Bruno." Mirabel told him.
Bruno smiled at hearing that. Usually, when people got their final visions, they got upset or sad when they learned something they didn't want to hear. And so, Mirabel went back to her room. As she settled down in her bed, she began feeling better about tomorrow.
The next morning, after a quick breakfast Mirabel and her family waited outside for the Herrera brothers.
"Now remember, Mirabel." Julieta started.
"You behave yourself while you're with the Herreras."
"I will, Mama."
"And please be careful." Augustin added.
"I'll be careful, Papa."
"You have a good time, Mirabel." Alma told her.
She said goodbye to her sisters.
"Adios, Mirabel." Isabela told her. T
hen Luisa grabbed her in a strong hug.
"We'll miss you sis." she told her.
"Thanks, Luisa." Mirabel answered in a strained voice.
She then put her down, and Mirabel said goodbye to her Tia Pepa and her family.
"Here Mirabel." Antonio said, giving her the toy jaguar she gave him.
"He'll keep you safe."
Mirabel smiled gratefully, took it from him, and kissed his forehead.
"Adios, Bruno. Thanks for the vision." she told Bruno.
"It was no problemo, kid." Bruno replied.
Then they heard horses coming towards them, and the Herreras were there.
"Buenos dias, everyone. Gracias again for allowing Mirabel to come with us." said Lorenzo.
"You just be sure to treat my daughter well." Augustin told them.
"Senior, we give our word Mirabel will be quite safe and comfortable." assured Esteban.
Marcos got down from his horse, and went over to Mirabel.
"Hola, Mirabel. Let me get your bags, and you can ride on my horse." he told her.
"Gracias, Marcos." Mirabel replied.
He picked up Mirabel's suitcases and put them into the little wagon that was attached to his brothers' horses. Then he got back on his horse, and helped Mirabel get on behind him.
"Ready everyone?" asked Lorenzo. Everyone answered yes, and the horses started off. Mirabel turned around and waved goodbye to her family again.
"Adios, everyone." she called.
As the rest of her family waved her off, Casita's walls got another crack, and this time it grew into a bigger one.
