"I'm fine, i'm fine! I'll just rest here for a bit and catch up to you later." Shishi stared at him, unimpressed and unamused. Her mint blue eyes stared right at him as she kneeled down in front of his pained frame.
Her pink hair fell in front of her face from the action, making her huff in annoyance. A weak chuckle left Oliver as he gently pushed the ash highlit tips over her ear. "You're worrying too much." She offered him a knowing smile before she reached into her back pocket.
When she brought her hand forward, Oliver found his eyes wide in suprise. "Is that?" In her possession was another mask. "I was warned about the miasma. I didn't know what would happen once I left the pit so I took an extra just in case. Glad I did."
The two immediately worked to replace the revenant's mask. Immediately a sigh of relief left the male as he stood up, giving her an apologetic glance. "I owe you." She crossed her arms, feeling a chill creep up her spine as she casted a glance in the path ahead of them.
"If you owe me, then stay alive and sane. I...I don't know what's up ahead, but I don't feel too confident in my skills to handle this alone. So don't go abandoning me like that." Something stirred in the red head as he glanced at his companion.
He took notice of her shivering frame, the trembling in her weapon held hand. The bayonette was tight in her grip, her body stiff with tension. Oliver had been with her ever since they were kicked down into the pit.
The hammer wielder knew she could hold her own in a fight despite him taking the lead in their battles against the lost, so seeing her so uncomfortable was a sight he felt guilty for. As much as he didn't want to become a mindless, bloodthirty husk, he was willing to accept it if it meant she could move on and survive.
Determination etched into his features as he picked up his own weapon. A nod came from him as he rested his war hammer over his shoulder. "Let's get out of here together." A wide, relieved smile graced Shishi's face as she nodded back.
A shaky sigh left her before she turned around, steeling herself. They both could hear growls and groans in the distance. Though there were lanterns and fire pits scattered everywhere to light their way, there was no denying how dim the narrow cave could get.
There was no telling what else could be awaiting them. More of their hunters becoming lost, strangers that held ill intentions, or no blood beads to be found...any one of those, if not all could be a possibility.
However, Oliver couldn't give up. Not when this stranger saved his life, demanding he stay alive and help her in this unknown territory. "I've got your back." He would do whatever it took to protect her. This world is a miserable place, their kind a suffering cycle of death and madness.
Yet despite it all...he was glad to know that there was still light in the dark. "Whooo kay. Great. But do you mind, getting my front as well? I'm starting to freak out." Kindness that could bloom warmth in the never ending cold. Oliver laughed.
