A/n: this is part of the "back to the basics" challenge, I am choosing the coupling of Johnny Zacchara and Lulu Spencer (was there ever any doubt?) This is going to be more like a marriage series because I thought it would make the challenge fun lol. If anyone wants any info on the challenge message @Babycomeback24 on Wattpad or Captainamergirl on Archive of our own. I'm not sure if they have lol. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this journey with me lol.
Breathless-
That's how Johnny felt when he was around, nothing could touch him. Proposing to Lulu Spencer hadn't even been a thought, it had just been something he HAD to do. Being with Lulu was like breathing, he'd barely even registered having a heart before they'd met that fateful night. Tonight was the happiest night of his life, of their lives. Hell, he was still in shock that he actually had a wife.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Lulu smiled up at him sweetly, her arms entangled around his neck as they held each other in the middle of the dance floor at The Haunted Star.
"Just a penny?" Johnny chuckled.
"Johnny Zacchara, you know I'm broke." Lulu raised an eyebrow.
"Not anymore. Isn't the expression, what's mine is yours?" Johnny smirked, twirling her around.
"Oh yes, I'm sure your family loves that sentiment." Lulu chided him, touching his cheek.
"Fuck them." Johnny shrugged, he truly meant that. Claudia had spent the entire wedding and reception sulking at them, probably hoping they'd call it off. Anthony hadn't bothered to show up, which Johnny was honestly grateful for.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk to your sister? At least dance with her?" Lulu asked.
"I'll dance with Claudia when she gets married." Johnny says, they both shared a chuckle.
"I'm just…in disbelief that this day is actually real. I actually have a wife, when this is over we'll have the rest of our lives together. I never thought this was possible. Well, maybe I'm thinking about undressing you too but…mostly the first thing." Johnny smiles, sheepishly.
"I like that." Lulu smiled, leaning into his chest.
"Me…undressing you?" Johnny raised an eyebrow, chuckling into her blonde hair.
"Get out of the gutter Johnny, I meant being called your wife." Lulu rolled her eyes, though she knew that she loved him undressing her just as much.
"I hate to interrupt but, may an old man cut in?" They heard a snarky voice from behind them, that could only belong to Luke Spencer.
"Of course, Luke. Be my guest." Johnny released Lulu, beside Luke stood a red haired older woman.
"Aunt Bobbie, you made it!" Lulu gasped, throwing her arms around the woman.
"Of course sweetie, it's not every day one of us gets married. Lucas is sorry he couldn't make it, he got called into the hospital at the last minute." Bobbie Spencer wrapped her only niece into a hug.
"So, Lucas graduated? Is he a doctor now?" Lulu asked.
"Lucas graduated last May, he's still learning the ropes but he's doing really well. Lucas wants to have dinner with you two this weekend, he's finally settled down with a nice man." Bobbie was clearly a social butterfly.
"Geez Barbra Jean, leave some air for the rest of us. You haven't even introduced yourself to Young Zacchara yet, you're just some lady talking." Luke says, earning a laugh from everyone.
"My apologies Johnny, I've heard so much about you from these two that I feel like I know you already. I'm Bobbie Spencer, Lulu's aunt." Bobbie turns to Johnny, Johnny offers her his hand but is surprised when she pulls him into a hug.
"It's…nice to meet you, Ms. Spencer." Johnny cleared his throat, a little caught off guard.
"Sorry, I didn't grow up with…hugs." Johnny apologized, awkwardly.
"Oh Jesus, you're scaring the blushing groom." Luke smirked, pulling Johnny over to the bar.
"Carly's mom?" Johnny guessed.
"Yes, Caroline is her daughter. Explains a lot, doesn't it?" Luke muses.
"It does. I thought you wanted to dance with Lulu?" Johnny was confused.
"Barbra Jean isn't going to stop talking Lulu's ear off for at least another ten minutes, she takes some gettin' used to. How are you holding up?" Luke explained.
"Part of me is ready to cut out of my own wedding party." Johnny wryly admitted.
"Believe me, so was I. So is every groom ever." Luke chuckled as they clinked their glasses together and shared a drink. About ten minutes later Bobbie flitted over to where Carly was standing and Luke went to join his daughter on the dance floor.
"I was wondering when I'd get a moment alone with you." Laura Spencer smiled, walking towards Johnny.
"Laura, I'm so glad you could make it!" Johnny flashed his mother in law a smile, accepting the hug she gave. Johnny didn't know what it was about her but she was the one person besides Lulu he didn't mind hugging.
"I can't very well miss my only daughter's wedding, you two are going to be very happy together. I mean, you already are. I know that Lulu had a very rough childhood but, I can see parts of her finally starting to heal. All because of you. I can't thank you enough for that, Johnny." Laura smiled warmly at her new son-in-law.
"Mom!!" They heard a happy voice from behind them, one that could only belong to Lulu Spencer. Lulu lifted the tail of her dress up quickly skipping over to her mother, wrapping her arms around Laura.
"You look absolutely beautiful, Lulu." Laura hugged her daughter.
"Thank you but, I'm honestly ready to be out of this dress." Lulu let out a sigh.
"Oh, I know the feeling. Why don't you two make a little getaway? You've earned it!" Laura smirked.
"Are you suggesting we ditch our wedding party?" Lulu has expected something like that from her father but not her mom.
"Why not?" Laura shrugged.
"Come on, before someone sees us!" Lulu gripped her husband's hand as they quickly darted onto the deck, Johnny opened the passenger door of his mustang for her and they drove back to the penthouse.
