At night in a rather large city, there was a young man being chased down by a group of what appeared to be gargoyles. This young man was Japanese and had shoulder length black hair which was dyed brownish gold. This young man wore a green t-shirt under an oversized black pullover hoodie which had gray sleeves under black short sleeves and a gray hood, blue baggy sweatpants and white sneakers.
This young man looked terrified as he was chased by the gargoyles then he slipped and fell into a pile of trash. This young man looked back to see that he was now surrounded by the gargoyles. He backed away from the nearing gargoyles then he put his hands up expecting to be attacked.
The young man was then surprised when one of the gargoyles exploded into dust. The other two gargoyles looked to their right and screeched before they ran away from the man. The young man looked up to see an armored woman walk into his view.
This woman had on an armored red coat which had black frayed hems on the coat tail, and sleeve hems along with having a black popped collar. This woman had shoulder pads which were primarily black with red edges and were pointed outwards on the end. This woman's gloves were red and had red armor on the back of the hand as well as on the fingers. This woman had red boots which had black frayed hems as well as black bladed heels which were three inches in height as well as being just underneath her knees which were covered by red knee pads. Around this woman's waist was a black belt which had a red bat shaped buckle. The helmet of this woman was completely black with two bat ear like protrusions at back, think batman's cowl ear, and had a red visor which was in the shape of fierce scowling red eyes. This was over a light red undersuit.
The armored woman wielded a pair of gunmetal 1911A's that had ruby red embroidery on the barrels and grips and she said,"C'mon guys, running will get you nowhere."
The young man then heard the sounds of someone getting hit and he looked to his right to see a man knocking out the two remaining gargoyles easily.
This man wore armor that was over a gray undersuit. This man's chest, abdomen, and back armor was blue with the sides of it being black. The armor on the man's arms consisted of arm guards which were blue, rounded shoulder pads that were blue, and some bicep armor that was gray like the undersuit. The gloves of this man's armor were black but had blue armor on the tops of them and fingers, ending in a claw and each finger. This man had blue knee pads and below them were blue armored boots that had two large angular lines on each boot which started at the back of the calf and ended on the front of the boots on the sides on the shin. Around this man's waist was a belt that had a blue buckle that was in the shape of a wolf's head. This man's helmet was black but had a blue face plate which resembled a wolf but didn't cover the entirety of the face plate which was blue. This man's helmet visor was red in the shape of wavy yet scowling eyes.
The armored man knocked out the last gargoyle, then he walked over to the armored woman and said,"You know that we're supposed to bring in guys like this alive, right?"
"Yeah, but they're attacking a civilian and they're perps; which to me means I can shoot 'em.",The armored woman said.
The armored man shook his head while sighing, then he helped the young man to his feet while saying,"You okay?"
The armored man's voice hitched in his throat when he saw the young man's face, which caused the young man to raise an eyebrow at the armored man, who was taller than him by seven inches. The armored woman examined the young man then said,"Don't we know you?"
"Hey, let's let this guy get back to his life. I mean we gotta take these two to the precinct anyway so we can question them.",The armored man said in a nervous tone while hurriedly moving over to the unconscious gargoyles.
"Seriously, I could've sworn we've seen this guy before.",The armored woman said while looking the young man up and down.
"Vampyr, we gotta do our job. NOW!",The armored man insisted.
Vampyr groaned childishly then she put her guns away while saying in a childish and frustrated groan,"Okay. Jeez, you're such a stickler for protocol, Lykhan."
"Of course I am, I want us to keep our jobs and not get chewed out.",Lykhan argued while picking up two of the gargoyles. Vampyr and Lykhan walked by the young man telling him goodbye as they did. The young man stared at the two warriors then he began walking towards his apartment while frantically looking around, afraid of being attacked again.
Once they were out of earshot of the young man, Lykhan looked at Vampyr who looked at him and said,"What?"
"You know what; why didn't you tell me it was Michi that we were saving?!",Lykhan asked, his tone sounding annoyed.
"Because if I did then you'd get all nervous and want only me to fight these gargoyles. Speaking of Michi, why didn't you ask him out just then? It was the perfect opportunity.",Vampyr responded.
"I didn't because we're not supposed to reveal our identities to anyone. It was one of the first things they told us when we were selected to be the supernatural division.",Lykhan argued.
"Blah blah, rules rules. Buddy, you gotta let loose a bit. Especially if you're trying to get with Michi, which I know you are in more ways than one."
"Would you quit trying to intervene with my love life?!",Lykhan urged.
"Not until you take a more active role in it… and not until it stops being so fun.",Vampyr said before she and Lykhan continued walking until they came up to an armored van.
The next day, the young man was exiting his apartment while thinking about last night's events. He then greeted an older woman that lived next to him; that called him Michi. Michi walked down two blocks, minding his own business while doing so, till he entered a diner which was on the corner of a rather busy intersection.
"Good morning, Ms. Rodriguez.",Michi said while going behind the counter and putting an apron on.
A middle aged Hispanic woman looked at Michi and said,"Morning, Michi. You were almost late for your shift today; anything happened?"
"Oh nothing much. I just overslept",Michi said.
Ms. Rodriguez looked at Michi with a gaze that showed disbelief then she said,"Oh really? The reason you overslept wouldn't happen to be because of that cop you're interested in would it?"
Michi began to blush then he nervously stammered,"What? No no, I didn't even see him last night. Why would I see Marcus outside of here anyway, he doesn't even know me."
Ms Rodriguez nodded, her face showing amusement, then she turned to the door and said,"Oh look he's right there."
Michi looked towards the door just as two young adults came in. The first of these young adults was a young Filipino woman with shoulder length black hair that she had in a ponytail. She wore a large black pullover hoodie that had red strings which could be used to tighten the hood also having red cuffs, black baggy sweatpants which had red lines on the sides of the legs. This woman also wore a pair of red crocs and no socks.
The second of these young adults was a tall young Caucasian man with short brown hair that he kept in a spiked faux hawk style with a taper fade undercut. This young man wore a blue long-sleeved t-shirt under a black zip up sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and black and blue running shoes.
Michi's eyes widened and he squeaked at the sight of the young man, who saw him and waved while smiling. Michi nervously waved back and began trying to clean but fumbled a bit due to constant fidgeting.
"Morning Aj, Marcus, want your usual?",Ms Rodriguez asked while moving to the register.
"Nah Ms Rodriguez; we're just here to talk with Michi about something that happened to him last night.",Aj casually said.
Marcus walked over to Michi and said in a caring tone,"We were told by our colleagues that you got attacked last night by some gargoyles that we have in custody. We'd like you to come down to the precinct just to give us your account of what happened."
Michi blushed then he looked down while shyly saying,"I don't know if I could do that right now. I mean Ms Rodriguez needs me here and I don't think anything I have to say would help."
"You can go with them and you'll get paid for your shift.",Ms Rodriguez quickly said with a smile.
"Fantastic! C'mon Michi, let's get going so you can help us put some monsters behind bars.",Aj said enthusiastically while moving closer to Marcus and Michi. Michi hesitantly nodded then he went into the back to get his things out of his locker and put his apron away. Aj had a satisfied smile on her face then she looked at Marcus, who glared at her.
"Hey, I'm doing my job. Nothing more.",Aj said. .
"I know you're lying.",Marcus said, his glare persisting.
Aj showed false surprise but then she stopped and cursed under her breath,"Damn werewolf sense, always making you know I'm lying."
Michi then came out of the back and exited the diner with Marcus and Aj.
Not too far from the diner, a person in a cloak walked out of an abandoned building holding a book in their hand. This person began reciting something from the book in an unknown language which caused a monster made out of wood and metal with glowing red joints and eyes to appear beside them. The cloaked person looked at the monster then said,"Keep the riders busy." with their voice being disguised by some form of modulator.
The monster growled then it began walking into the street having several minions made of wood and metal form behind it. The monster's right arm then formed into a large cleaver while it roared, causing the minions to swarm towards any nearby civilians.
Out in the city, Michi, Marcus and Aj were walking together with Marcus and Michi being nervous around one another. Aj looked at the two young men then she said,"Hey Marcus, aren't you going to that new club that just opened up on 5th Ave?"
Marcus's eyes widened then he stammered,"Well, uh, I, uh… yeah I was thinking about going but it'd be weird for me to go by myself."
"True, true.",Aj said while tapping her chin. She then stopped, stopping Michi and Marcus as well, and turned to the two men. "Michi, why don't you go with Marcus to this club."
"Eh?",Michi said while beginning to blush.
"Aj,"Marcus said through gritted teeth.
"C'mon Michi, you're a good looking guy and you definitely can teach Marcus here how to loosen up a bit.",Aj said with a smirk. Marcus gritted his teeth while beginning to lightly blush while Michi's blush intensified and he began incoherently stammering.
"Then it's settled, you guys are gonna go to that club together. Fantastic, now let's get going.",Aj said before turning around. She then noticed the monster and its minions attacking several civilians that were running away from it. Marcus and Michi also noticed the monster and minions causing Michi to become fearful and say,"A monster?"
"Why did one have to attack right now?",Marcus said, sounding annoyed and worried.
"Who cares that they attacked? We got a job to do, partner.",Aj said while taking out the red bat-shaped buckle which was on Vampyr.
Marcus got in front of Aj then said,"Wait Aj, remember what the chief said."
"I know what he said but I don't care, plus no one's gonna see me.",Aj said while putting her buckle on her waist causing a black belt strap to wrap around her waist. Aj then kicked off her crocs and took out a transparent card which had a red bat on it. She then smiled while saying,"Henshin." and putting the card into the top of her buckle.
"(Eerie orchestral music) VAMPYR!",The buckle announced in a distorted male voice as several bat's made of red energy circled around Aj before turning her into Vampyr. Michi's eyes widened and he said,"Eh?!"
Vampyr chuckled then she stretched and charged into battle. She jumped up and kicked a minion in the head, her bladed heels stabbing through it. Vampyr then kicked several more minions, slashing them at the same time, before she stood on her hands and spun around, slashing several minions.
Michi had a stunned expression on his face while Marcus groaned in frustration. Marcus then realized a few minions were coming towards him and Michi and he led Michi to cover. He put Michi behind a nearby bus stop then he looked at Michi and said,"Stay here, I'll be back once we're done with this. Also, please don't hate me for keeping this from you."
Marcus then stood up and revealed the blue wolf buckle that was on Lykhan, placing it on his waist and causing a black strap to wrap around him. He then pulled out a card that was like Aj's but had a blue wolf head on it instead of a red bat, and said,"Henshin." while putting it into the buckle.
"(Techno alternative rock music) LYKHAN! (wolf's howl)",Marcus' buckle announced as he had a large wolf made of blue energy appear before him then jump onto him, changing him into Lykhan.
Lykhan looked at Michi and said,"I'll be back and I'll explain everything." with urgency and care. He then punched a minion, making it crumble. Lykhan then punched two more minions before revealing the claws on his gloves and cutting both of them down. He then punched five more minions before flipping over one and cutting down three more minions.
Michi watched as Lykhan and Vampyr fought the minions with surprise and wonder in his eyes. He paid special attention to Lykhan, noticing how he was sticking close to where Michi himself was.
Vampyr delivered a hook kick to a minion, cutting it down, then she was tackled by the monster and was sent flying backwards into a car. Vampyr groaned in pain then said in a pained voice,"Okay, that hurt a whole lot."
The monster swung its cleaver arm at Vampyr, who dropped to the ground by doing a split, causing the cleaver to miss her. Vampyr then swung her legs around stabbing her heels into the monster's chest, not affecting it too much. Vampyr used the monster's chest to propel herself backwards, turning around so she slid to a stop.
Lykhan ran up to Vampyr and said,"If Michi hates me after this, I blame you."
"He won't hate you, superheroes are hot.",Vampyr quipped while standing up. The monster walked towards them with its cleaver arm readied.
"This one is slow but powerful, it's skin is also very thick even though it's only wood and metal.",Vampyr said while revealing her two guns.
"Since that's the case, I should take it head on while you ready a shot to finish it.",Lykhan said while cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders. Lykhan then charged at the monster, jumping over a slash. He then dodged three more slashes from the monster before punching it twice. Lykhan punched the monster in the chest but then had to block a slash that still sent him flying backwards.
Lykhan skipped across the ground then stopped and shook his head in pain. Michi gasped, then he ran towards Lykhan while saying with concern,"Marcus!"
"Stay back, Michi.",Lykhan said while getting to his feet. Lykhan then narrowly dodged the monster's cleaver arm before he punched it five times in the face. He then kneed it in the chin before punching it and saying,"AJ, HURRY UP!"
"Don't worry buddy; I'm ready.",Vampyr said while aiming her guns at the monster, dark red and black energy gathering at the barrels. She then pulled the triggers multiple times, causing a barrage of large bursts of energy to go flying towards the monster. These bursts hit the monster causing it to fall back and explode, Lykhan jumping towards and shielding Michi from it.
Lykhan and Michi looked at where the monster previously was then at Vampyr, who was celebrating her victory by dancing. Lykhan sighed, then he looked at Michi and asked,"You okay?"
Michi nodded then he looked Lykhan up and down while saying,"You're Lykhan." in a stunned tone.
Lykhan sighed sadly and nodded before he looked up at Vampyr, who ran up to him. She stopped then said,"We won, but the chief just called and said that we have to do desk duty for the rest of the day and that we'll be chewed out eventually."
Lykhan groaned, then he looked at Michi and said,"I'll escort you back to the diner before we get going."
Lykhan and Vampyr reverted into Marcus and Aj respectively then they escorted Michi back to the diner. Meanwhile, the cloaked person watched the trio from an alley before walking into the alley and disappearing.
Later on in the evening, Michi was exiting the diner and beginning to walk towards his apartment when he stopped, seeing Marcus leaning against a mailbox in front of him. Marcus noticed Michi and he stood up straight while saying,"Hey Michi. Look I'm sorry for not telling you that I was Lykhan, I wanted to for a long time but my boss said that I'd get fired if I did and…"
"Marcus, it's fine. I can understand why you wouldn't tell me, frankly I can't really wrap my head around it yet.",Michi shyly said while rubbing his neck.
Marcus nervously chuckled then he cleared throat before saying,"Well then, you mind if I make up for lying."
"It depends. How would you make it up?",Michi asked while nearing Marcus.
"Well, we're friends and haven't really been around each other for a while. So I was thinking we could go to your place and just hang out.",Marcus said, putting his hands in his pockets and insinuating something else.
Michi bit his lip while giving Marcus an intrigued gaze then he said with a nervous smile,"I'd like that, only if you could help me with something too."
Marcus smirked, then said,"I can do that." flirtatiously.
Marcus and Michi began walking towards Michi's apartment with both smiling nervously. The two also moved closer to one another and eventually held hands.
