In the world of Dragon Ball, many events play out that affect the course of history. Most center around a single Saiyan, who's countless battles to defend the world he knows leads to many fated events and some great tragedies. However, there are times where events play out differently, leading to bigger and bigger changes. What causes such changes? Sometimes an outside force, but sometimes a bored watcher of time. In this tale, we look into one Dr. Gero as we see his latest plot to destroy Son Goku…

Some years ago, at the Darlinge Polynya, or more accurately, the location of Muscle Tower, a young man with dark brown hair and mustache can be seen overlooking some kind of construction, wearing a thick light brown coat, boots, and a pair of gloves due to the cold and a notable black hat with the logo of Red Ribbon Army. With him, a red haired, fair skinned lady with an equally thick coat, but with high heels instead of boots and leather gloves instead of the thick cloth kind the man wore. The woman spoke to the man.

Woman: "So you've been given the go ahead for the Android Project, Gero?"

Gero: "Yes, Vomi. With the funding from the Red Ribbon Army, change in the world is possible. Change that will see our world evolve through technological advances."

Vomi: "I see. Are you sure the Red Ribbon Army is the one you want funding from? That Commander Red guy seems…"

Gero: "I know. But if he has amassed this large of an army, then regardless of his goals, his funding will be most crucial."

There was a bit of silence before Gero spoke again.

Gero: "You were told to move to another Red Ribbon base due to your research being different from mine, right?"

Vomi: "...Staff Officer Black's orders, I'm afraid… He found it more pertinent for me to continue my research on energy without the "distraction" of your research."

Gero: "I see. Perhaps, in hindsight, it would be better. If all three of us stay at this base…"

Vomi paused before realizing what Gero was saying.

Vomi: "Wait… Our son is being sent here too!?"

Gero: "I was against the idea at first too. …But given how Gevo is…"

Vomi sighed, knowing all too well how her son was. She simply shook her head.

Vomi: "Here."

She hands Gero a folder containing some documents. Looking through them, Gero recognizes it as Vomi's energy research.

Gero: "Why are you giving me this, Vomi?"

Vomi: "Something to remember me by. Our research diverges here, but if you intend to better our world, then why not make one last contribution before I'm sent on my way?"

Gero took a glance at the research before looking back at the tower being built. As the day ended, the two set off on their own. Unknown to them at the time, this would be the last they would see each other…

Years later, at the now collapsed Muscle Tower, an older Gero is seen standing in shock in front of the rubble, immediately running as he struggled to dig through the site, finding the dead body of his son, Gevo.

Gero: "Gevo…! Gevo! Who did this…? Who…"

An angry glare formed on the doctor's face as he stood up. With a push of a button, two Red Ribbon Robots were summoned from a nearby mountain, hovering toward him.

Gero: "Grab my son… and take him to my lab… And scan for any surviving reports… I will avenge my son… I will destroy the one who killed my son…"

The robots do as they are told, with one carefully taking Gevo's body while the others scanned the area, soon finding the remains of Major Metallitron. Accessing the collected data from the android reveals the assailant to be Son Goku, who is a major enemy to the Red Ribbon Army. With this data, Gero begins to plot his revenge… To avenge the Red Ribbon Army and his son…

Age 761, Gero, now an old man, was deep in his lab, working on a few different projects. In his lab were a few pods with labels: "#13, #14, #15, #17 (experimental), #18 (experimental)". On the table were two mostly complete but unfinished androids. One was a large, bulky, green armored android designed to resemble his son, while the other was a smaller, slimmer girl with pale skin and an outfit resembling another android he had schematics for, labeled #19.

Gero: "After years of planning and testing, what will become Android #16 is coming together nicely. Built with a bulky form and solid defenses, and enough armaments to destroy entire countries, if all else fails… He may be my last resort in destroying Son Goku for his crimes…"

Gero then turned to the girl he was working on. The schematics showed she had a core in her chest that could process energy through her palms.

Gero: "The other model, which I have codenamed Android #19 Alpha, is a test unit for a stealthier model. Lightweight and small, it is designed with an unassuming form in order to quickly attack, drain, and kill. The core in its chest is a prototype infinity engine, or infinity core in this case, which can provide limitless energy to the robotic model. In addition, it has a pair of energy syphons, which absorb free flowing energy from the target. Currently, its syphons are set to only absorb energy projectiles instead of directly from its targets. If this test goes successfully, then it will be upgraded to its proper function and will be sent as an assassination unit against Son Goku and his friends. There are only a few minor adjustments to make before it is test ready…"

Gero steps over to a computer and starts typing away, entering the codes needed to give the android the simplest bit of artificial intelligence, making her easy to control and only concentrate on her mission. But then an alarm goes off, startling Gero, causing him to spill his coffee on his computers, shutting down the process.

Gero: "No! Damn it all! What the hell did my sensors detect!?"

Gero angrily slams his fist on his desk before managing to turn back on his computer. But when he checked on the process of the female model, he found that the code transfer was corrupted, meaning the robot was now considered defunct.

Gero: "You… You piece of trash!"

He angrily grabs the female robot and tosses her into the trash bin, dumping her along with several other failed robots he's created since Android #8 and before #13.

Gero: "...A hunk of junk… It'll take me years to recreate an energy syphon and an infinity core quite like that… I may need to go ahead and make the syphon and infinity engine separate after all… Ugh… I am getting too old and my blood pressure is getting too high…"

The doctor returns to his table, starting from scratch in his pursuit in revenge…

In the trash heap of scrapped robot parts and mechanical stuff, the female robot Gero so carelessly tossed out laid at the top, unmoving at first… until her finger twitched. Then more fingers twitched before she finally spoke.

#19 Alpha: "Repair systems… OPERATIONAL. Repairs at… 92%. Beginning self diagnosis… … … … Diagnosis complete. All systems functioning at basic capacity. Energy syphons offline. Battle mode offline. Searching internal files for directive…"

The android searched her internal files as her self repair continued. She eventually gained the ability to stand on her own as she finds her directive.

#19 Alpha: "Directive: Find Son Goku. Directive: …Not found. Unknown follow up command. Switching to detection mode."

The robot squats down, then jumps high into the sky, right above the clouds. She then starts scanning the land below using some kind of DNA scanner. She finds a faint signal due southeast. She begins to talk, now using her external vocals instead of internal.

#19 Alpha: "Signal found. There is a 9% chance this signal matches the DNA signature of Son Goku."

With this, the android speeds off, her creator too distracted to notice his creation leave.

Meanwhile, the story of Son Goku went about as normal. During the five year peace time, he got married to Chi-Chi and had a young boy named Son Gohan, named after his grandfather. Though Goku occasionally trained for his rematch with the son of the Demon King, Piccolo Jr., the peace on Earth left him quite complacent in his lot in life. That is until something - or rather, someone arrived. Raditz, one of the last remaining Saiyans in the universe, arrived to Earth in hopes of recruiting his brother, Kakarot, to his cause. Much to his annoyance, the older brother found that Kakarot lost his memory of his mission on Earth and of their planet's history. In a bid to sway his brother, Raditz kidnapped Gohan, stating that unless Goku killed at least a hundred inhabitants of Earth and present them to him, he will take Gohan instead. Through an unlikely alliance, Goku and Piccolo raced to Raditz's location and began their ferocious fight, only finding out that Raditz was a lot stronger than they hoped. Thus leading us to now…

Raditz was on the ground, Goku holding his tail in order to keep the older Saiyan pinned to the ground. Just a little ways away, Piccolo can be seen charging up energy in his fingers.

Piccolo: "Good work, Goku! Now keep him there!"

Raditz growled, gritting his teeth before he slowly moved his head towards his brother.

Raditz: "K-Kakarot… D-Don't do this… I-I… W-We're family… aren't w-we?"

Goku: "You're no brother of mine! Someone who kidnaps my son and hurts my friends… And that's not including trying to get me to kill innocent people!"

Raditz: "I-I… I didn't mean… a-any of it… I-I just… w-wanted to… s-see if you w-would be willing… to join me… B-But I-I am… convinced… I w-will… leave this p-planet… I-I won't come back!"

Piccolo could see hesitation in Goku's eyes; he knew this trick all too well and Goku was falling for it.

Piccolo: "Goku! Don't believe him! He's just trying to trick you!"

Unfortunately, Goku bought into Raditz's lie, causing him to let go of the Saiyan's tail. With an evil smile, Raditz immediately regained all strength and knocked Goku to the ground, stomping his feet onto his chest.

Raditz: "What a fool! You really fell for my simple lie!? As if I'd just leave… I'll kill you and every last person on this dirt rock!"

Raditz begins to laugh as he stomps on Goku's chest, cracking the younger Saiyan's ribs as he screams out. Piccolo could only watch as he had to hold his charge. But Raditz kept a close eye on the Namekian, ready to dodge if he needed to. But then… something else got Raditz's attention. A sudden shift in power level. He turned to the crater where his ship was as Gohan burst out of it, a hateful glare in his eyes as he lands to confront his uncle.

Gohan: "Leave my daddy… ALOOOONE!"

With a child's battle cry, Gohan's aura bursts open as he lunges at Raditz, slamming a heavy headbutt onto Raditz's chest, knocking him back from the impact. Gohan is knocked out from the exertion of power, leaving Raditz angered by the impact.

Raditz: "Gh…! That amount of power… You could have been a mighty Saiyan warrior indeed… Could have, that is… I'll at least grant you… a death worthy of a Saiyan…"

But as Raditz charged energy to kill Gohan, he is suddenly grabbed into a full nelson by Goku, who then turns the struggling Raditz towards Piccolo.

Goku: "Now, Piccolo! DOOO IT!"

Piccolo: "Special Beam CANNON!"

Piccolo fires off his blast, causing Raditz to stare at his inevitable demise. The pain in chest from where Gohan struck him. It hurt a lot… So much that it made it difficult to get free of his brother's grip. But as it seemed like he was about to die, adrenaline shot through his body as he grabbed Goku's hands and moved out of the way. Goku had no time to react as he is struck down alone by Piccolo's attack, fatally wounding him. Piccolo is left horror struck, frozen as their final gambit failed.

Raditz: "Huff… Huff… You… You had me there, little brother… Between you and your twerp, I actually would've succumbed to that fool's attack… Hehe… Too bad for you… I'm still standing…"

Piccolo could only glare. He didn't have enough energy to fire another Special Beam Cannon and even if he did, Raditz could just dodge it. He truly was out of options now.

Raditz: "...I was going to treat you with my Double Sunday, green man… But now… I'm not feeling very hospitable… I'm going to kill you with my full power!"

Raditz charges up energy into his palms, much to Piccolo's horror. The Saiyan started to laugh before he fires off a larger, wider version of his Double Sunday - the Weekend attack. Piccolo was too tired to move; he raised his hands in a vain attempt to block it, closing his eyes as he anticipates the worst. But no such thing comes… Instead, he sees a figure standing in front of him, draining the attack into her palms. The attack is completely absorbed, with Raditz shocked by this.

Raditz: "What the…!? A-Another friend of yours!?"

Raditz's Thoughts: "And why didn't my scouter go off!?"

The Saiyan pressed a button on his scouter, finding that it only detects Piccolo's energy and not the android's. He's left shocked by this; a creature that doesn't even have an energy signature. But the android speaks, almost disinterested by the events transpiring.

#19 Alpha: "Three creatures detected with various degrees of DNA matches for the one called 'Son Goku'. The boy on the ground: 74% match. The tall man in armor: 89% match. The man next to him: 100%. DNA scan complete. Son Goku detected. Inquiry: Son Goku's life signs are fading. Why is that?"

No one responded. Raditz was puzzled by what the android said, while also being stunned by the android absorbing his attack like it was some kind of drink through a straw. Piccolo wasn't quite sure if he should be honest, but he had no other choice. Do or die time.

Piccolo: "I can answer that. That man… The one in the armor… He killed Son Goku. He's threatening our planet and unless we stop him…"

The android looked to Piccolo, allowing Raditz to strike while her guard was down. He swung his arm in a chopping motion, aiming to decapitate the robot. But his arm stopped at the neck; it's not like anything obstructed his hit, it certainly connected. It just didn't phase her.

#19 Alpha: "The world is threatened by this lowly creature. Then an enemy is detected. Battle mode: Engaged."

The android then turned back to Raditz, causing him to flinch as his eyes met hers. She then raises both of her hands and placed them on Raditz's chest. Then, in a single second, blasted Raditz right through using his own Weekend. This not only left him with a hole through his chest; this blasted his whole upper chest apart, leaving only the neck and head intact while his legs fell down limp. Piccolo was now even more scared; this girl who appeared out of nowhere, absorbed Raditz's attack like nothing, and now killed him with that exact same attack… The android then turned back to Piccolo.

#19 Alpha: "...Battle mode: Disengaged. No threats detected."

Piccolo was sweating a lot of bullets; his mind was racing a million miles a minute by what he witnessed. He was unsure if he could even process it all.

Elsewhere in the galaxy, two certain Saiyans could hear Raditz's last moments and were equally processing it all.

Bald Saiyan: "Hey, Vegeta… Did… Did Raditz just die on us?"

Vegeta: "...Something happened, Nappa. Raditz isn't picking up. And all while gloating how he survived. Hmph… What a fool."

Nappa: "Oh well. Sucks to suck, I guess. So now what?"

Vegeta stood up, tossing away the remains of a creature they were eating.

Vegeta: "That last transmission interested me. When Raditz scanned an unknown figure, it didn't pick up an energy signature…"

Vegeta states, pulling up Raditz's scan logs, which shows the outline of Piccolo being obstructed by the female android.

Vegeta: "And if this figure was able to destroy Raditz… I say it might be fun to visit Earth, wouldn't you say?"

Nappa stood up as well and smiled evilly, leaving Vegeta to make their way towards Earth - though unlike in canon, it wasn't for a wish on the Dragon Balls, thus they will be taking their time…
