Davis and the others were faced with a difficult situation. Groundramon was bad enough, but it appeared to be being used by the new Digimon Emperor, the human form this evil Gennai takes when he wants to enter the human world. Their situation grew even worse as he somehow made Groundramon digivolve once again into a powerful digimon known as Breakdramon. Faced with an enemy that's even stronger, how do they plan to defeat such a powerful foe.
"Even the likes of you worthless humans can't possibly stand up to the great and destructive power of Breakdramon!" The Digimon Emperor declared as he stood on Breakdramon's head.
"Breakdramon?" Cody said.
"How did he cause Groundramon to digivolve like that?!" Ken said.
"Not sure, but we have to take him down all the same." T.K. said. "With Breakdramon more powerful than Groundramon, he could cause a lot of damage."
"Come on, guys! Let's take it to them!" Paildramon said as he started firing away with his blasters. His attacks weren't doing anything. Silphymon and Shakkoumon tried to help as they got on both sides of Breakdramon and tried attacking. Nothing was working. Their attacks just kept bouncing off him and that fake emperor just laughed at them.
"Do you fools not understand who you are up against?!" The Digimon Emperor called. "This is Breakdramon! A digimon that lives for sheer destruction! Your pitiful attacks are nowhere near enough to defeat a beast like this! Breakdramon, show them your terrifying power! Launch Gravity Crush!" Breakdramon appeared to be responding to his power as it raised its front two legs and smashed them against the ground. It caused an immense gravity field to be unleashed and all of them got caught on it and were being crushed. All of them were pinned down to the ground and couldn't move and felt like they were being crushed by the air itself.
"I feel like I'm being pulled into the ground." Kari said.
"It's a gravity field. If we don't figure out how to shut it down, we're going to be crushed." Ken said as it was difficult for them to move.
"Yes! Crushed! Drop down and realize how helpless and pitiful you truly are!" The Digimon Emperor called as he laughed at that misery.
"You haven't won yet." Davis said as he tried to stand, but the force coming down on him kept pushing him down.
"Ahahahahahahaha! It's amusing to see you struggle!" The Digimon Emperor mocked. "Breakdramon is a digimon that lives for sheer and absolute destruction! You can't defeat him so easily! Especially since he's been given the dark power before digivolving."
"Dark power?" T.K. said. "Is he talking about what made the infection that made digimon more vicious and savage?"
"So what if you got a digimon like that?" Davis said as he was pushing himself off the ground with the others impressed. Davis is much stronger than he looks. He might be on all fours, but he's still standing and still getting up.
"But how?! You shouldn't be able to move!" The Digimon Emperor said.
"Breakdramon might be a mega, but we've got mega power of our own. Come on, Paildramon! Show him we're not bowing to him!" Davis called with Paildramon responding to Davis' strong determination.
"Paildramon mega digivolve to...Imperialdramon!"
Once Paildramon digivolved to Imperialdramon, he was able to aim with his cannon and fired an energy blast right against Breakdramon. It was just enough to break the gravity field Breakdramon was emitting. Once he was free, Imperialdramon smashed against Breakdramon and tried to keep him down. All of them felt better once they were out of that gravity field.
"You guys okay?" Davis questioned.
"Yeah, but we need to end this or else the area will fall apart." Cody said. "We also can't let that fake escape. He's clearly got some control over a digimon this powerful, and who knows who else."
"No worries. Silphymon, get that creep up there!" Yolei called. Silphy ran up a building and tried reaching the level that fraud of an emperor was on. Once Silphymon saw him, Silphymon jumped straight at him. However, Breakdramon swung his head and smashed it against Silphymon to knock it back. Then, it pushed back against Imperialdramon and was able to knock Imperialdramon off of him.
"More devastation! More destruction! Unleash Tazar Strike!" The Digimon Emperor called. That was when the drills surrounding Breakdramon's body were launched and were homing in on the digimon.
"Move it!" Davis called. All three of the digimon tried moving as best as they could from the drills. Imperialdramon flew around in the sky, tried to bob and weave around the drills like a military jet trying to avoid being struck down. Shakkoumon used his body structure to help him out. He just kept spinning around and used the rotation to help avoid the drills as they passed right through. As for Silphymon, Silphymon ran around on the buildings and avoided each of them as they drilled and emerged through the buildings. It was like Silphymon was moving around with the agility and footspeed of a superhuman.
"Imperialdramon, give him a good dive bomb!" Davis called. Imperialdramon followed through with that as he avoided the drills and came straight down on Breakdramon, but the drills came back around. Imperialdramon had to move away to avoid them.
"It's no good. They can't get close enough with those drills flying around." T.K. said.
"That digimon is like a one digimon deconstruction crew. How are we going to beat that thing?" Yolei said.
"You can't!" The Digimon Emperor called. "Breakdramon will break you! Breakdramon, get ready to use Gravity Crush again! Make it bigger! Make it more powerful! Crush this entire city!" Breakdramon unleashed a mighty roar and was going to use that power.
"No!" Imperialdramon called as he flew in and tried to stop him.
"Imperialdramon mode change to...Fighter Mode!"
Imperialdramon changed forms and tackled Breakdramon. He tried to keep Breakdramon from unleashing that attack again. Imperialdramon tried to get Breakdramon off its feet as he tried to lift, but this digimon was rather heavy even for the likes of Imperialdramon to lift. As he was trying to lift, Silphymon spotted something that might help them.
"Imperialdramon, try and aim for the underside of Breakdramon! That part appears to be the most vulnerable!" Silphymon called.
"I need to get him off his feet first!" Imperialdramon claimed.
"As if I would allow that!" The Digimon Emperor said as Breakdramon unleashed the drills again. All of them circled around and were drilling against Imperialdramon, digging right through his armor. Imperialdramon would have been in real trouble as it seemed like those drills were about to get through and could possibly tear through his flesh. Just then, a blast of ice froze over the cables. Then, a spinning force drove through and smashed through the cables with the drills falling off. That was when all of them noticed WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon joining the fight.
"Hey!" Tai called as he and the other guys showed up and their timing was really good. "Are you all okay?!"
"We'll be even better if we can get the big guy off his feet and get a clear shot at his belly." Davis said.
"Not a problem! WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, help out with that!" Tai called. Both of them flew around and got right under Breakdramon. Both of them unleashed their own attacks and blasted Breakdramon right underneath. Silphymon and Shakkoumon helped out as they unleashed their own attacks against Breakdramon's legs and was weakening his footing. That made it easier for Imperialdramon to lift Breakdramon until he got a clear shot.
"Positron Laser!" Imperialdramon blasted right on Breakdramon's weakest spot and his attack penetrated through. That fake Digimon Emperor had no choice, but to jump off just before Breakdramon fell apart into bits of data.
"Yeah! Way to break Breakdramon!" Davis cheered as that marked another win for them.
"Did we really have to destroy Breakdramon?" Cody questioned.
"We didn't have a choice, Cody." T.K. said. "That digimon was living destruction. Given the power these new enemies have, I don't think sending these vicious digimon back would be enough."
"I understand you don't like it, Cody, but try seeing it as like putting them out of their suffering. Some of them probably are doing this against their will and they just can't help it." Izzy said in hopes that Cody can understand. Cody never did like destroying digimon and just isn't sure if it's really the right thing to do.
"Careful, Cody. Don't let your guard down just yet." Ken said as he kept his eyes on the one pretending to be him. All of them kept their eyes on him.
"Well, I guess I should have known that digimon wouldn't be enough." The Digimon Emperor said. "He was just simply too good to be true." He was about to take his leave, but that was when the digimon surrounded him and made sure he couldn't escape.
"Where do you think you're going?" Matt questioned.
"We've got him now." Tentomon said.
"We've had enough of your games!" Tai said.
"Tell us about Athena! Who is she? Is she's the one who is really pulling the strings? The mastermind behind all of this?" Davis said.
"We want answers!" Kari said. "What is it that you really want? Are you the one really responsible for what happened to poor Meicoomon? Why did you have to make her suffer like that? Do you know how much it hurt her and Meiko?!"
"Easy, Kari." Yolei said. It's understandable she be frustrated, especially after what they were forced to do, but it could have been prevented if it weren't for the likes of him. Instead of answering, all he did was hold up the strange black cube he used to have Groundramon digivolve.
'What is that thing?' Ken thought as he could tell it was something rather important and suspicious.
"Meicoomon served her purpose." The Digimon Emperor said. "You fools. You don't even know the truth. You don't even know what was really going on. Oh, how tragic it must have been to destroy your friend. Still, were they friends? Just because they were digidestined like you, it means you were friends? You all have a twisted ideal of friendship considering you let a complete stranger into your group and ignored those who were your friends!" He said with psychotic delight. Whoever this guy is has a twisted sense of humor and they all find more and more reasons to despise him. "If it's answers you really want, come to the Cave of Wise." That was right when a warped opened up and he jumped through with it closing before the digimon could do anything about it.
"Dang it! He escaped again!" Tai complained.
"The Cave of Wise? What is that?" Cody said.
"The Cave of Wise... Of course." Hackmon said as he and Gallantmon joined them.
"Have you two been here the whole time?! You could have helped us out!" Davis complained. "Where the heck is Gennai?"
"Gennai returned to the Digital World to take note of the damage that might have been done." Gallantmon said.
"What's the Cave of Wise?" Izzy asked.
"It's a cave within the Digital World." Hackmon said. "It is a cave that reveals all inside the Digital World. Perhaps the answers we're looking could really be found there." Answers... That is exactly what they all needed. They have to know the truth of what's going on so they might be able to stop it.
"This cave does sound like it could be just what we need." Izzy said. "However, if that fake wants us to go there, it could be a trap. It's also possible there's something there he wants us to see, but we will find upsetting."
"I'll tell you something, Izzy... With the Digimon Emperor attire, the psychotic attitude, not to mention that he's just not nice; it's hard to believe that this guy is really just another one of Gennai's copies." Tentomon complained. "I still don't see how he could have any part in Gennai." When he said that, something clicked in Ken's brain.
"Wait! Tentomon, say that last part again." Ken said.
"I still don't see how he could have any part in Gennai?" Tentomon said, but doesn't understand why he needed to say that again.
"That's right... You say that he has another form that makes him look like Gennai." Ken said as he was organizing his thoughts. "He just said that he took my old appearance so that he could appear here in the human world. That's how Arukenimon and Mummymon were able to travel between worlds. They needed a human form."
"Yeah... What's your point, Ken?" Yolei said.
"Gennai has appeared in our world before." Ken said. "He's been here before, and he looks the same as he did when we defeated MaloMyotismon, in the Digital World."
"We're still not following what you're saying." Tai said as they were all still rather confused.
"If the man we just saw is really another Gennai, why does he need to take another form?" Ken said. "Why does he need to have another form to appear in this world?" Just as he said that, Izzy gasped with realization.
"You're right, Ken!" Izzy said. He opened up his computer and tried putting up the images of their enemy. "When we first encountered him, he took the form he had just now. When we were in the Digital World, he took Gennai's form. He could switch between the two forms just like Arukenimon and Mummymon, but there shouldn't be much need. Gennai can come to our world just as he is, but this new enemy needs a human form to do that. That means he can't be one of Gennai's copies. Maybe he's only taken Gennai's form, especially since the real Gennai was held captive like you guys were." All of them understood it now. That means they don't know his true form or identity, but he can't be connected to Gennai. As Izzy looked down at the face of the man they've been facing, he could actually feel his sinister glare through the picture on the computer with one question ringing through his mind. "If that's true, who is he really?"
