My Pov
"What IS that thing?!" Ran exclaimed, clutching Grim who was trembling.
"No one said there'd be monsters! Let's get outta here!" Grim cried.
"That thing's super creepy! But didn't it just say something about 'stones'?!" Ace said.
"Wait, what?" Grim asked.
Stooonesss... ...nevvva give stooonesss...!
"So there are still magestones here!" Deuce said. Yeah, but they were probably on the other side of this thing.
"Myaaah... Even as a great wizard, I... I don't think I can take that thing down!" Grim exclaimed.
"But we need to get that magestone, or we'll be expelled!" Deuce said.
"There's gotta to be a way..." Arley said. Deuce suddenly ran toward the monster.
"Deuce, what are you doing?!" Ran asked.
"I can't be expelled! I need to get the stone!" Deuce said.
"Are you outta your mind?!" Ace asked.
"You can't go alone!" I exclaimed. The boys and Grim all started attacking the monster, but nothing seemed to even be fazing it. The monster quickly swatted all of them away, knocking them to the ground. Ran went to help Deuce and Arley while I went to help Ace and Grim.
BEGONE! BEGONE!
"Kokomi-nee, watch out!" Ran screamed. As I picked up Grim, I looked and saw the monster heading right for me, pickaxe raised ready to strike. My legs wouldn't move. I was froze. That's when I was suddenly pulled down and figure was over me. It was Ace. He was shielding me.
"Ace!" I cried. If he got hit, he'd be killed. That's when I heard Arley's voice.
The hands, the face, the bell. Together, they signal the hour. Tick Tock, Goes the Clock!
There was a flash and I noticed the creature was frozen.
"Ace! Kokomi-san! Move quickly! The spell will only last so long!" Arley yelled. Ace got up to his feet, grabbed my hand to pull me up and we ran. Deuce, Ran and Arley were not far behind us. We didn't stop running until we got back to the cottage. We all stopped to catch our breath.
"What do we do?" Ran asked.
"Nothing we did was even hurtin' it!" Grim said.
"But there is a magestone there!" Deuce said.
"How do you figure?" I asked.
"When Grim shot his fire magic at the monster, there was a flash. Like the light reflected off of something." Deuce explained.
"Even if there is one, how do you propose we get past that thing without getting killed?!" Ace asked. This started bickering between the two and soon Arley and Grim joined in.
"EVERYONE, QUIET!" I shouted. Everyone froze and looked at me with surprise. "I need a minute to think." I started pacing back and forth, thinking of an idea. That's when an idea popped into my head. "Arley the spell you used, is that your Unique Magic?"
"Yes. It's a Unique Magic that runs in my family." Arley said.
"With Ace's wind magic, Grim's fire magic and Deuce cauldron conjuration..." I mumbled.
"Kokomi-nee?" Ran asked.
"Here's the plan you guys." I said, gesturing for everyone to come closer.
...
...
...
I sure hoped this plan would go smoothly. I looked to Ran and Grim and they nodded.
"Hey, monster! Over here!" I shouted, jumping up and down and waving my arms. Ran and Grim joined in yelling to draw the things attention. Once it saw us, it came toward us in a hurry.
"Let's go!" Ran yelled. The three of us ran farther from the mine. As it faded from view, I saw the boys slip in behind it. It seemed like forever with us dodging the swings of its pickaxe and its fists.
"Kokomi-san, we've got the magestone!" Arley yelled as he, Ace and Deuce emerged from the mine. The monster then turned its attention to them.
Giiivvveee back stooone!
The monster rushed toward the boys, pickaxe raised high.
Tick Tock, Goes the Clock!
There was a flash and the monster froze.
"Now!" I yelled. Grim shot several fireballs at the monster and Ace used his wind magic to direct the flames. The monster became ensnared in a circle of fire.
"Now, Deuce!" Ran yelled. Deuce pointed his pen above the monster and summoned another cauldron. It landed on top of it, knocking it down. I don't know if Arley's spell wore off or it was the impact, but the monster cried out in pain.
"Let's get out of here!" Deuce yelled. We all booked it away from there, however, the monster still had strength as it managed to push the cauldron off of itself and started to come after us.
"It's still coming?!" Ace asked, terrified.
"Guys, we've weaken it! Just a little more and it'll be finished!" I said. Everyone nodded. Grim and the boys each attacked, with me and Ran giving them direction on where to strike. Finally, the monster collapsed and disappeared. The adrenaline and fear faded and gave way to cheers of victory. They all even had a group high-fived.
"Wow, you guys certainly seemed to be pals now." Ran teased. The boys all seemed to get embarrassed and tried to deny it.
"Still, the only way we pulled this off was because of your plan, Kokomi." Ace said.
"Yeah... If you and Ran hadn't kept your cool and told us what to do, we would have never gotten the magestone." Deuce said.
"You two have saved us from getting expelled." Arley said.
"We won because we worked together." I said.
"Huh? What's this?" Grim asked, poking at something on the ground. It looked like a piece of coal, but it also looked like a magestone.
"It looks like a magestone, but I've never seen one as dark-colored as that one before." Arley said. Grim started sniffing at it.
"What IS this? It smells amazing!" Grim exclaimed. What? That's when he popped it into his mouth!
"Grim! Spit that out right now!" Ran yelled.
"No way! This is delicious!" Grim exclaimed. This cat had weird taste.
"Anyway, let's hurry back." I said. We hurried back to the school and made our way to Crowley's office. However, instead of him just being there, our sisters were there too.
"Kokomi! Ran!" Hikari exclaimed. She and the others crowded around us.
"Are you both okay? Are you hurt?" Mikan asked. We shook our heads.
"Where have you been all day?" Tora asked. We quickly explained the situation, which lead to our sisters glaring at the boys.
"You three and the cat almost got our sisters thrown out!" Emiko said.
"It's okay, Emi-nee! We got the magestone." Ran said.
"You actually went to the Dwarf's Mine and found a magestone?" Crowley asked.
"Yes...?" the six of answered. Why did he sound like he wasn't serious about not expelling us and that getting the magestone was a joke?
"I didn't suspect that you would all seriously do it and actually return with a magestone!" Crowley said.
"Huh?" Ran asked.
"Are you serious?!" Grim asked. I couldn't believe this. "While we were fightin' some crazy monster for you, you were expelling us?!"
"'Monster'?" Crowley asked.
"Yeah. There was a monster all right." Ace said.
"Would you kindly elaborate on this monster?" Crowley asked. If I had my sketchpad and pencils, I could draw it.
"Do you have paper and pen, sir?" Yurina asked. Crowley gave her a sheet of paper and pen and she then handed them to me. I quickly began sketching the monster and in no time, I presented the picture to everyone.
"This was the creature we fought." I said.
"That thing looks terrifying!" Nagisa said.
"The six of you managed to defeat this creature?" Crowley asked.
"It was mainly thanks to Kokomi-san and Ran-san's help and direction." Arley said. Crowley thought for a minute before suddenly breaking into sobs.
"Are you okay, sir?" Arisa asked.
"In all my years as headmaster, I never thought I'd see the day when the student of Night Raven College would actually begin to work together!" Crowley sobbed.
"I'm assuming the students here tend to look out for themselves?" Azuna asked. Crowley nodded.
"Being chosen to come here has made many students cocky of their own abilities, that they forget to look out for one another. Yet, you girls all have shown the talent for rallying people together..." he said, seemingly thinking of something.
"Sir?" Sayumi asked.
"You, my dear girls... possess the talents of a beastmaster!" Crowley proclaimed. We all looked at him, completely lost. "You girls, despite having no magic, managed to convince those with magic to work to together. That kind of talent is what is need here at Night Raven. You, my girls... I am more than certain you twelve are necessary for the future of this school. First-" he turned to Ace, Deuce and Arley. "Trappola, Spade, Hopper- I hereby revoke your pending expulsions! Furthermore, girls... I am granting each of you the qualifications necessary to attend Night Raven College!" Wait... WHAT?!
"WWWWHHHHAAAATTTT?!" we all yelled.
"As... actual students?!" I asked. Crowley nodded and then turned to Grim. As for you, Grim... Your actions today have shown you have the potential to become a wizard. You shall share enrollment with the girls." Crowley said.
"Myah! I... I'll get to go to this school...? As an actual student? Not a janitor?!" Grim asked. Crowley again nodded, before waving his hand. Around Grim's neck appeared a stone similar to the ones the boys had on their pens. Crowley then gave me and my sisters each a uniform. After explaining everything that we would need to do and rules we need to follow, we left his office. We bid the boys good night and hurried back to Ramshackle Dorm. Even after laying in my bed for a few hours, my mind was still reeling. Maybe... maybe coming here was a good thing after all. I closed my eyes, eager to greet the first official day of my new life in Twisted Wonderland.
Sorry if this seemed thrown together. I was just wanting to finish the prologue and get to Heartslabyul. Also, I'm finally playing TWST and I just finished The Rose-Red Tyrant. On to Book 2!
