Chapter 4: Floral Fury
Back with the Duo Trio, they are walking the woodland near and outside the Monarch Kingdom. Cuphead looked at the map given to the Duo Trio by the Royal Family.
"According to what Aunty Moni said, the Royal Food Supplier grew a grand flower field to collect nectar to feed the kingdom," Mugman continued. "It's common for butterflies to have nectar, water, and fruits. The Monarch Kingdom has many wells and fruit gardens that flower nectar the top priority."
"Mugsy, thanks for the lecture, but we must be wary. They said we would face a screwball playing an innocent act. Anyway, we should be close to the location," said Cuphead.
Chalice smelled the air and said, "Boys, do you smell something nice?"
The Duo Trio sniffs the air and finds a grand field of flowers.
"Wow. There are so many flowers. They will be enough to feed the kingdom. So where is this rogue supplier?" Cuphead said.
Slowly, coming out of the field is the seemingly harmless Cagney Carination.
"Oh, hello. Are you the supplier of this field?" Mugman said.
But Cagney reveals his true self and shouts, "BEAT IT, BRATS."
He picks up the sign and says, "Can't ya read?! Please keep off the grass!"
"I'll take that as yes. Look, pal. Can you give the butterflies back their food source? They're going hungry in the Monarch Kingdom," said Cuphead.
"Not until Princess Melissa is my wife," Cagney shouted.
"Buddy, she's around my age. And you look too old for her," Chalice said.
"You'll never understand the meaning of a man's heart, girly. I took this job for one thing: to marry a butterfly princess. No butterfly could resist a flower, so I'm eligible for her."
"You're insane."
"Insane in love."
Chalice then dances while singing, "Will this get you convinced what you're doing is wrong and crazy?"
"Since dance and sing, but don't get it," Cagney scoffed.
Cuphead then sighed before saying, "We tried playing it nice. We tried playing it with reason. We tried playing with persuasion. Looks like we're going to do it the hard way, which I was excited about."
The Cup Trio point their fingers at Cangey as their Guardian Pets get on their backs to protect them.
"This is your last chance. Let the butterflies have their supply back and come quietly or be snaped and dragged," said Chalice.
"Hah! What are you going to do? Snap your fingers at me?" Cangey laughed.
When Cuphead fires Peashooter in Cagney's eyes, Cagney says while he does his characteristic dancing idle animation, "Fools who attempt to fight this will leave with allergic rhinitis!"
"I don't understand what you are saying, but you're going to regret not agreeing with us," said Chalice.
"Fire at will," Mugman shouted.
Cuphead fires Peashooter, Mugman fires Spread, and Chalice uses Crackshot. Cagney Carination uses his Magic Hands to unleash acorns upon the Duo Trio. The Cup Trio fires its bullets to break the acorns. The Guardian Trio catches the acorns with their mouths and fires them back at Cagney.
"You're more powerful than you look. Okay, then let's see you handle my boomerang sycamore seeds," said Cagney, opening his hands to send them.
"Let's Mega Blast," said Cuphead, activating his Peashooter's stronger self.
"Eight Way to victory!" Mugman shouted while doing his Spread's stronger self.
"Cracked Crackshot, so you'll crack!" Chalice yelled as she did her trick.
The seeds were soon destroyed from contact with the Cup Trio's attack.
"Oh, yeah. Well, come and face me!" Cagney yelled before doing Lunging Lurk.
The Guardian Pet Trio grows angel wings to lift their masters to avoid the attack.
"Woah, you guys could do that? Nice," Cuphead smiled.
"Hey! No fair! Do you want to play dirty? I show you play dirty," Cagney shouted before doing his Gatling Seed Plant.
The seeds begin to fall and land on the ground, growing into Baby Toothy Terrors and Terror Floaters.
"This match will get red hot. Now let's go," said Cuphead as his group fired down Cagney's minions.
Angry, Cagney pulls on his petals in frustration and thrusts his hands underground. While this happens, he undergoes a scary transformation, resembling a lion somehow. His petals will become sharper and more spread out, he develops an even broader and more insane smile with razor-sharp teeth, his nose grows longer until the tip bends slightly upward, his eyes become somewhat yellow, and his pupils dilate. As his arms sink underground, they become thorny and sprout back out as spreading thorny vines that make the lower ground untouchable, leaving the heroes to stay in the air.
"Wow, he's gone past his breaking point," Mugman commented.
Cagney then screamed, "Extreme pollination and total domination!"
He then does the Pollen Toss at the heroes. The Guardian Pet Trio moves to prevent them and their masters from getting hit.
"Keep firing, boys! We won't stop until he gets a knockout," Chalice encourages.
"Why not we combine our attacks?" Cuphead suggested.
"Even if we could, how?" Mugman questioned.
Sugarcube then barked for the Cup Trio's attention.
"Sugarcube? What's wrong?" Cuphead answered.
When they notice her, Creamer begins to meow in guidance.
"You want us to do what, Creamer? But we haven't trained to do that during our training," Mugman replied.
Acinus chattered in response.
"You think it will work, Acinus?" Chalice asks.
The Guardian Pet Trio nods in response. The Cup Trio looked at each other before they agreed to work together.
Cagney shouted while doing his Thorn Roots, "I will barb you with my thorny hands!"
Cuphead then said, "Mugman, take the back. Chalice, go above him. I'll go for the front. Let's go, go, go!"
As the heroes avoid the Thron Roots and get into position, Cagney shouts, "Hold still! Once I'm done with you, I will starve that kingdom until they hand over their princess!"
But together, the Cup Trio does their Energy Beams simultaneously. The incredible power they displayed made Cagney scream to the sky, and his eyes became black and hollow. Because it brought him defeat, he fell to the ground and passed out. With their enemy down, the Guardian Pet Trio put down the Cup Trio.
"Victory!" the Cup Trio cheered and high-five.
