As soon as Ben arrives in his room, he sees Mal sleeping peacefully. Mal sleeps like always, but with her growing belly, she began to sleep with her hands resting on her stomach. When he sees her like this, all the anger passes and the urge to scream goes away, all he does is run back to the office. This is horrible for him and for his daughter, whose face he has never even seen, but loves more than himself.
He never thought it was fair that she wasn't a normal baby, just because she has magic… and the woman in his life. Mal is his best friend, his partner for everything and above all, his true love, what kind of decision is that? Either way, he'd end up hurting himself and without someone he loves.
(…)
The next day, when Mal wakes up and doesn't see Ben lying in bed or anywhere else in the room, she goes straight to his office and finds him asleep on the couch.
"You're so cute." She says, running her hands through his disheveled hair. Before waking him up, she goes to his desk to see what kept him up so late. What she didn't expect was to see a piece of paper written "First registration of law 9.599.2 — Prohibition of the use of magic" "What?" She says more loudly, forgetting about the sleeping boy.
"Mal? Mal, what are you doing here? I thought I was asleep."
He asks, rubbing his eyes in an attempt to wake up.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."
She replies, still looking at the paperwork.
"What time is it now?"
"It's already morning, seven, or eight o'clock." She says without taking her eyes off the papers. "Ben, what's this?"
"Draft of the law banning magic."
He's still drowsy, which is probably why he didn't notice his wife's visibly frightened and angry face.
"And you've read it?"
"A few points, why?"
"Because it's absurd. How is that possible, Ben?"
"It's just a draft, Mal, and we said we'd give them a law."
"No, you say that."
Mal reminded him, making it clear that she's thought this was idiotic from the moment they considered creating a law.
"Mal, calm down, okay?"
He asks, running a hand over his head in an attempt to ease the pain he feels.
"Calm down? I'm not going to take it easy with this at the risk of it being passed."
"It's not even 9 o'clock, please not now."
"I can't believe what I'm about to say, but I'm dying for this to get into the hands of Fauna, Flora and Merryweather."
"Please give me a break!"
Ben shouts, exploding with anger and a headache.
"What's wrong with you?"
She asks, startled by his scream. Ben doesn't get nervous easily, nor can she remember the last time he raised his voice with someone.
"Nothing, I'm sorry. I'm going to take a shower."
I left without letting her reply and wanting to know why he was like that.

Later, Mal was returning to the castle after a meeting with some leaders when she received a message.
"I'll meet you at my house, we'll wait for you." Evie
These kinds of family meetings mean that something serious is going on. It could be Jay. A few days ago, he told the Vk's about Jafar's health and how the villain from Aladdin isn't doing well at all. Or it could be Evie who is thinking of spending time with Doug on one of his trips around the kingdom. In any case, she asked the driver to reroute the route to her friend's house.
As usual, she entered Evie's house, but what caught her attention was the fact that she had seen Ben there too; if she remembered correctly, he hadn't been very happy in the morning.
"Ben, what are you doing here?" It was in the middle of her question that she realized the meeting was about her. She glances quickly at Evie and if she really knows her friend, this is her guilty look. "Evie." She calls her over so that she can look her in the eye and prove her theory. "No, you didn't." She didn't want to believe that her best friend had told the whole truth to her friends, and especially to Ben.
"Mal…"
Evie starts trying to explain herself.
"You did! Did you really tell them?"
Her eyes are certainly shining brightly now.
"Mal, I don't think the point here is because Evie told us."
Ben says seriously, which proves the queen's other thesis, he's upset.
"So, it's all really true?"
Carlos asks, wanting to hear it from Mal himself.
"If you're talking about my daughter having scepter magic, yes, it's true." She says, walking closer to them. "And about me giving up my magic too." She looked at them and could see the look of sadness on each of their faces.
"Mal, you can't do that, you can't do without magic."
Jay repeats what everyone already knows.
"And neither can she."
Mal speaks as if it were obvious.
"And when were you going to tell us?"
Ben asks her, still not looking at her face, which bothers her a lot.
"Ben…"
She tries to get him to look her in the eye, but apparently the king doesn't want to look his wife in the face.
"Just say when."
"Soon? I don't know. I found out not even three days ago."
"But it's been enough time to make a decision that isn't yours alone."
The light-eyed boy says, and there she knows he's very upset.
"Mal, you can't do that."
Evie takes courage and speaks.
"Can't I? It's my body and my magic, so yes, I can do whatever I want!"
She imposed, her voice full of anger at everyone telling her she couldn't do it. It's her life, and she doesn't mean to be rude, but as far as she knew, everyone had to look after their own.
"But you're our sister, at least that's what we thought."
Jay, who has always acted like her older brother, says in the same tone she spoke to everyone now.
"And she's our daughter, not just yours."
Ben butted in, reminding her.
"Mal, that's not like choosing a flavor of ice cream, it's your life."
Carlos, who seemed the calmest there, spoke his mind.
"And OUR daughter's life?" Mal spoke again, looking directly at Ben. "If it was two months ago, I'd agree with you without any problem, but now." Those stupid hormones still prevented her from saying everything she wanted without getting emotional. "Now I love this baby in a way I never imagined I would love anyone." She started to shed a few tears. "Please, can you understand me? She's a baby who's not to blame for anything, including having magic that she didn't ask for, because that's my doing. I know you all love me, but I ask you to respect my decision, because I'm not going to give it up."
"No."
Evie is the first to tell them.
"Evie, wait a minute."
Jay started to say
"No! I'm not going to accept it." The blue-haired girl started to cry and Carlos went over to her to console her. "There has to be another way, I won't accept it."
"E…"
Jay went over to her, who was going to her room to be alone.
"We're a damn family! We don't give up anyone!"
Evie screams, not wanting to deal with the pain so closely again.
"E." Mal lets go of her own anger and feelings of pride and walks over to her friend. "You're the greatest mother I know." She takes her hands in hers. "You know you'd do anything for Tommy if you could, and now I'm a mother too." She says that last word smiling. "And I'm doing what I have to do for my daughter."
"M."
She gave her a tight hug, looking for her old friend in her.
Mal turned to the man standing on the other side with his arms crossed and still unwilling to look her in the eye. He was silent, showing no emotion whatsoever.
