It was truly a bizarre week for the first-year students of Hogwarts. First, Jaune was the Professor for the Transfiguration class, which they all found fascinating but also amazing, as the way he taught captured their minds and interests like no other.
However, the next bizarre thing was the potions class. One Severus Snape was teaching the class. The key word being 'was.' Why? Because Jaune took up that position when he challenged Snape to knowledge and potion brewing, at least it was what everyone believed. But the real reason is that Jaune turned Snape into a roach and used a particular spell he calls the Spell Lock, which locks and puts powerful encryption on spells that have been cast.
Why would Jaune do what he did to Snape? One, he was not teaching correctly as he refused to go through a safety briefing. Two, he doesn't explain the problems of the brewing process or how two ingredients could react badly if they were dropped in the cauldron in the wrong order. Three, Snape wouldn't shut up about Harry and his father. Four! He was bullying every student who was not in his House. Thus, Jaune turned him to the roach he was and locked it so no one could undo it. Suffice it to say, not even Dumbledore could undo what he did, and he refused to undo his magic.
Now, the headmaster tried to expel Jaune for what he did, but whenever he would think of the word expel and any other word that would mean kicking Jaune out of the school, he would blank out for a moment or feel pain in his head. Jaune did not know this, and he was sure that he would have been expelled for what he did, but at the end of the meeting, Dumbledore merely told him he would be the potions Professor until the day he decided to turn Snape back into a human.
Jaune, of course, said. "Why not? I know more about potions than he does. I have ingredients that he would only dream of having."
Dumbledore sighed. He did not know what was happening. This is the first time he has had such a reaction from trying to kick out a student.
The truth of the matter was simple. Throughout the week, Jaune had been doing maintenance work throughout the castle. Broken and worn rooms have been repaired and even given proper lighting to help the students have a better studying environment. Hogwarts, being a castle with magic for a long time, has come alive in a sense. The castle can see everything. Why would something that can see that Jaune was helping agree to have him kicked out? Everything Dumbledore feels when he tries to expel Jaune is a warning. If he tried to persist, he would be the one kicked out. He could sense this in a way; thus, he stopped and found a bizarre compromise. Also, Jaune was to be considered a student unless he was teaching a class.
Now, Jaune was in his class for a flying lesson. Outside the castle, the students, Gryffindor and Slytherin, are lined up in two rows with brooms by their sides. The teacher, Madam Hooch, comes down the line. She has short hair and hawk-yellow eyes.
Hooch walked between the Gryffindor and Slytherin. She said, "Good afternoon, class." The students responded with: "Good afternoon, Madam Hooch."
Hooch smiled and said, "Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broomstick."
Jaune raised his hand and spoke when told to, saying, "Before we begin, can I do some maintenance on the broom? They are seriously dangerous as they are. The charms are fading, and they could be disastrous. It would only take a moment."
Hooch and all the professors knew about Jaune, so she gave him what he wanted. He was an enigma to them. Of course, some people knew that Minerva was the person who showed Jaune around in Diagon Alley, which prompted them to believe she knew something about him and was bugging her about any information she had on Jaune. Being the amazing woman she was, she never gave a single thing.
Jaune took only a moment to complete all the maintenance on the broom, and he said, "Done! This should be better. Although, this broom has nothing on my custom-made one."
Hooch was interested in his words, "You made your own broom?"
Jaune nodded and said, "I have. And let me tell you, it completely outperforms the Nimbus 2000 I saw in Diagon Alley that was being sold as the latest and greatest."
Hooch responded, "Then I suppose you'll use that broom for your Quidditch match?"
Jaune smiled, "Of course!"
Draco said, "Hold on! What do you mean he will be using his own broomstick in the Quidditch game? I thought we could not have our own broom until next year. Thus, we are also not allowed to try out for the team until the second year as well."
Hooch answered, "Mr Arc has been given special permission by his head of house and the headmaster to compete. As for his broom, what you said is wrong. You cannot bring your broom, but it said nothing about making your own."
She added, "Mr. Arc, I saw you on a broom during your practice with Oliver Wood and the team. Do you mind helping me with the students? I know that you can do that if what I've heard about you being a pseudo-professor is true, which is real."
Jaune nodded at her and helped the students who were struggling, while Hooch helped the ones who were already in the air.
Ron had difficulty with his broom but was not bad with it. Hermione was struggling. She feared flying, but with a bit of sweet words, Jaune could get her to enjoy it a bit. As for Harry, he was a natural. He knew what he was doing on instinct. Jaune believed that if he were not the seeker of their house team, then Harry would be able to fill that spot.
On the other hand, Neville was struggling immensely. Looking at the boy before him, Jaune was reminded of himself when he first arrived at Beacon, unconfident and at the bottom of the class with nothing to be proud of. Therefore, he spent time helping the boy with his broom and also helping him where he could.
At the end of the class, it was a free period. Jaune headed to the library, where it was quiet. He has been reading the same books for the past week. It was the books he got in the Dreamscape recently. They fascinated him, and he wanted to learn as much as possible.
The spells in the books were impossible to learn by the wizards and witches of the world he was in. However, due to having the [Supreme Magic Circuit], Jaune did not have the same limitations as them. He learnt many of the spells called Hadō and Bakudō. Kaidō was not so much a spell but a way to heal the injuries of the spiritual and physical. This did not use too much time, but the other book did.
Mystic Arts was a completely different practice altogether. It was a way to borrow the power of the gods that wield the energy within the spell. However, Jaune was able to find a different way to do it. He refused to borrow power as he would later be required to pay it back. Thus, he deciphered the spell's effect and recreated them with his own spell matrix. He could even perform the Eldritch Portal with his wand instead of a Sling Ring.
Later that evening, Jaune was being adventurous. He had an entire map of Hogwarts since he had the ability [Map], but he wanted to explore the castle independently without its help. His destination was the third-floor corridor. He was curious why it would be off-limits.
Then he repeatedly heard the poltergeist, Peeves, shouting, 'Students out of bed!'. On his way there to see what was happening, he met Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Neville.
Jaune asked, "What are you guys doing here?"
Ron said, "We have to run! Filch is going to find us!"
Jaune raised an eyebrow, "He will if you don't be quiet."
Footsteps could be heard. Ron was going to shout for them to start running, but Jaune hushed him and told them to be quiet as he cast a spell to hide them from Filch. No smell, no sound, no sight of them. This was Jaune's [Extreme Concealment].
Once Filch was gone, Hermione asked Jaune, "What are you doing here?"
Jaune looked at her and replied, "I could ask you all the same thing, but I won't. Anyway, I'll go and continue my castle exploration."
Thinking of what to do, Neville said, "W-Wait for me…"
This prompted Harry, Ron and Hermione to follow him.
It was not long later that they came across a locked door. Jaune quickly opened it, and they all entered. Everyone but Jaune froze. In front of them was a sleeping three-headed dog.
Once they smelled them, it woke up. It started growling, which caused the four to scream. The dog was about to start barking and chase them, but Jaune tackled it and gave it scratches and belly rubs.
Jaune said, "Who's a good boy? Yes, you are! Yes, you are! Yes, you are!"
The four stared at Jaune as he played with the dog, who then shrunk the giant puppy into a regular-sized one. He took out a ball and started playing with it. Jaune looked at the dog with his [Analyse] skill as he played with it. He found out that the dog's name was Fluffy and it was a Cerberus, not that he needed that info since he already knew what the dog was.
Hermione stared, baffled, saying, "Are you seriously playing with that thing?"
Jaune said, "Why not? It's cute! I've always wanted a puppy. I wonder if Hagrid would sell Fluffy to me?"
Harry was curious, "Hagrid?"
Jaune replied, "He owns Fluffy. This dog was not here on accident, you know. It was placed here to guard that trap door."
He added, "Wanna pet him?"
The four came closer and played with the dog together. Fluffy was happy.
After an hour of playing with Fluffy, they reluctantly parted ways with the Cerberus. Jaune did promise to come back and play with him again.
