After listening to various snippets of conversation around him, Xander had come to some conclusions. Albeit, preliminary conclusions. The Tok'a were a combination of Angel, Willow and Buffy, cowardly and intellectual and convinced they were better then everybody else. The Jaffa reminded him of Klingons, honor meant something to these people and war was all they knew. And Colonel O'Neill represented the humans of Earth. Neither the Jaffa nor the Tok'ra understood the humans of Earth. They were used to humans that had been beaten down by oppression. Neither of them, but especially the Tok'ra, had any idea of how to deal with humans who looked them in the eye and refused to back down. And all three groups were very afraid. The Jaffa of losing the freedom they were fighting for, the Tok'ra who were born knowing both they as individuals and as a people were doomed to extinction because they'd only ever had one Queen and she was long lost to them, so no new Tok'ra being born. They were also afraid of losing their purpose and had no idea how to gain another. And the humans of Earth were afraid of Earth losing this war. They were weighed down by the fact that their actions affected their world and that they might have made wrong choices. Choices that cost lives. Big obstacles to overcome.

And then Xander saw something that chilled him. A figure in black armor moving through the group and no one noticing. Who or what was he? He slipped away and followed the figure. When he saw him draw a weapon and prepare to kill a Tok'ra, Xander, holding his hand near his body so no one saw the movement, used his telekinesis to fling the figure into the woods. Again, no one saw. The figure was cloaked, that much was obvious. More information was needed. He slipped into the woods and found the figure just getting to his feet. He pinned him to a tree using his telekinesis.

"That's right, I See you." He told the figure. "And now that I look closer, I See the symbiote as well. So, who or what are you? Besides being a Gou'ald I mean."

"Ashrak. How are you doing this? How are you Seeing me?"

"Humans are capable of more then you know. Are you going to answer my questions?"

"Ask."

"What is your purpose?"

"I am a hunter. I hunt those the System Lords want dead."

"You're the reason why the Tok'ra base was attacked."

"Yes, I alerted Anubis' forces."

"Why were you going to kill that Tok'ra? Do the Gou'ald specifically want him dead?"

"They want the alliance dead."

"So an invisible assassin kills a Tok'ra and immediately suspicion falls on the Jaffa and the Humans. Infighting ensues. Until they figure out there's more going on, because they're not stupid. Shortsighted, but not stupid. Then the hunter becomes the hunted."

"But not before the seeds of doubt grow perhaps large enough for them to break."

Xander considered about what the Ashrak had said. He may be right, the seeds of doubt were already pretty big, a little watering and they could become massive. Xander thought about his mission. No where in the mission plans laid out did it specify he had to stay undercover to achieve the goals. If he turned this guy in, the Ashrak would tell everyone about his powers. The knowledge of two groups with hidden agendas hiding among the alliance members could break it as well. Was there a way to keep the Ashrak from saying anything? Xander doubted it. Likely he'd find a way to use the information to further his own agenda.

"I can't let you live." Xander told the Ashrak. "You're a danger to the alliance and to individuals within the alliance. Likely you'd use the knowledge of what I can do to further your agenda. As much as it turns my stomach to take a page from your playbook, I'm going to have to do that myself. The Colonel gave orders that anything odd or that could help in figuring out how the Gou'ald keep finding the Tok'ra was to be reported. I'm nominally under his command at the moment. But I can use you to further my agenda."

"What is your agenda?" The Ashrak asked.

"Maintaining the alliance. Together they can destroy the Goa'uld." Xander smiled, it wasn't a nice smile. Again using telekinesis, he snapped the symbiot's spine, leaving the human host intact.

"Are you alright?" He asked the host.

"My masters will find you and kill you! Or take you as a host, they crave power like yours. They'll never stop trying to take Earth, just so they can find hosts like you. I know everything the Ashrak knew, I can escape, I will tell my masters! I will be rewarded!"

"Damn it, I gave you a chance!" Xander told him. "The Gou'ald are not gods! If they were gods they wouldn't need tricks! Why do you think the Jaffa are turning on them? The Jaffa are beginning to understand that. You were held prisoner within your own mind! You of all people should understand, they're not gods!"

"You're right, I know they're not gods. Doesn't mean they won't reward me."

"You serve willingly?!"

"Yes." Simple as that apparently, as far as this host was concerned.

'Was this another lesson?' Xander thought. 'That I can't save everyone? If so I learned that the moment Jesse dusted on a stake I was holding! Why do I need to keep learning it?!' Regretfully Xander used his telekinesis and stopped the host's heart. He slumped into death. A search of the body revealed the device that allowed the Ashrak to cloak. Telekinesis made it easy to damage the crystals within it, just enough that saying that he'd seen the cloak fluctuate and reveal the figure hiding within the cloak should be believable, at least short term. This day was turning out to be a bitch, and not the fun kind.
