It's My Life
Two weeks had passed since the diadem was destroyed and Harry, thankfully, hadn't shut down but it was clear that he had a lot on his mind regarding the retrieval of this object that Bellatrix had. Harry hadn't talked to anyone on the matter, so safe to say he was planning how to break into Malfoy Manor to locate and steal it. That was even if it was at the manor, Bellatrix could have moved it. Harry had a sneaking suspicion that Bellatrix had it somewhere other than the manor while she was in prison all those years, otherwise, Harry might have sensed it when he was staying at the Malfoy's.
Harry didn't sense anything off until that night he was there as a prisoner. The question was where Bellatrix would have hidden it. The necklace was another factor, Harry had no idea where that was either. The original thought had been Salazar's Locket, but that wasn't giving off any evil energy, so Voldemort must have used something else. At the same time, Harry couldn't shake the feeling of why Dumbledore would leave Harry the locket if it wasn't of any use to him.
Regardless, when Harry got to his office that night, Harry put up Salazar's photo on the wall across from the right-side of his desk, then he went off to bed. In classes, Harry was professional as ever and stayed in a smiling, but calm mood while teaching. The only ones who knew Harry wasn't okay were the friends who had been with Harry that night in the room of requirement.
Harry wasn't holing up in room or office, nor getting drunk. Harry would still come to meals in the hall, but he didn't talk much. Severus had tried talking to Harry as a father, but Harry said he was fine. Remus, Lily, James, and Sirius all got the same though. In fact, Harry usually told them when they fire-called that he was busy working and he'd talk to them later.
Harry also hadn't called any Order meetings. Draco had popped over a couple times, but never spent the night or had sex because he felt Harry wasn't up for it, so the two would just cuddle together by the fire or maybe do dinner in Harry's room. Sometimes on the weekends, Draco would come for breakfast or lunch too. The next holiday break was coming up at the end of the month from the 23rd of March to the 7th of April. Students who signed up to go home would leave on the 22nd, then return on the 6th.
Harry was going to use his vacation to find the last two horcruxes because he'd be damned if he had to go another year without Voldemort being destroyed. The stakes were too high to let this continue longer than necessary. Today was March 1st and Harry had pushed his mood aside because it was going to be a good day. For one, it was a Saturday and the second part of that being the best was because today marked one year of dating for Harry and Draco.
The plan was to spend the day together, so Harry had invited his boyfriend to breakfast and Draco should be arriving any moment. Harry had already told his friends and Severus, and everyone back at Potter Manor that he didn't want to be interrupted today. Of course, everyone was going to respect that. Harry heard knocking on his office door and looked up. "Come in, babe," Harry called, knowing it was his boyfriend.
The door opened and Draco walked inside with a smile. "Morning, babe." Draco closed the door behind him.
Harry walked over to give Draco a hug and small kiss. "Good morning, love. I have breakfast waiting for us, full English ones."
"Great, I'm starving." Draco beamed. Harry led him over to the desk, which was cleared off entirely and being used as a table for them to enjoy the meal.
"So how was your night, Dray?" Harry inquired.
"Pretty calm. I've missed nights I can be in your arms, though." Draco blushed.
"Babe, you know you can sleep over here whenever." Harry reminded. "Why haven't you if that's what you wanted?"
"I-I thought you weren't up for it." Draco admitted.
"What do you mean? I never object to having you stay the night. Unless I'm really busy or sick." Harry stated.
"Well, we've all been kinda worried about you since the night you destroyed the diadem. I guess I felt like you weren't in the mood, so I didn't try to stay." Draco told him.
"Oh, Dray…" Harry frowned. "I never meant to make you think that I didn't want you to stay with me those times. I was angry that night, but the rest has just been trying to figure out how to find the last two horcruxes."
"But Harry…It's not just that night. You've been very short with people ever since capture…Makes us think you did get tortured, or even…Raped and that's why you're so defensive and distancing yourself." Draco informed.
"What?" Harry stared. "No. No. I was never tortured or raped. I mean, Voldemort tried to torture me with Crucio but it doesn't seem to work on me anymore. Not since I fought through it against Umbridge last year. It's more of an annoying poking or twinge, but it's not painful." He revealed. "I was never raped or tortured. There was sassing Voldy in front of his death eaters and being taken to the dungeon, then what happened with Peter, and my fighting my way out. That was it, I promise."
"Then why, Harry?" Draco asked. "Everyone is worried about you. I'm not trying to make it heavy on our anniversary, but…No one else seems to be able to get through to you."
"Get through? I don't need breaking through, love. I'm not shut down or locked away." Harry assured.
"You're just so calm…But we feel like there's more behind it. Or things are festering until you explode with anger again. You know we're on your side, Harry. What you said that night made us think you didn't see or believe that." Draco mentioned.
"Listen…I wasn't mad or angry that night, Draco. I'm just…What's the word? Fed up. I'm tired of fighting. I'm always looking over my shoulder for the next attack. Wondering what happens next, what's Voldemort planning. There'd been a point where I was asking myself who dies next. That's…Dray, it's no way to live. I shouldn't have to live like that, and whenever I bring up going into the fire, so to speak, everyone is on me about the risk." Harry revealed.
"The truth is that we're all at risk, and unfortunately, mine is higher because I'm the one prophesied to destroy the dark lord. I do know you're all by my side, but I can't have anyone trying to stop me. I did mean what I said that I want my life back and if the others, as much as I love them, can't accept or support the role I play in this war…They need to just step back and let me deal with it."
"We know we can't stop you." Draco told him. "Uncle Sev already made that clear and that your words were out of fear. The stakes have never been higher with some being brought back to life. I know you're scared. We all are. No one wants to stop you, we just want you to be careful. Remember, you promised not to sacrifice yourself unless it was the only thing left to do. We can't have you dying and putting yourself in the snake pit on purpose isn't being careful."
"I know. I don't want it to come to that, but we may not have a choice." Harry told him.
"Then please don't do it until we've tried everything else, Harry. Let's try to find the object Bellatrix has another way…Just…Don't rush into this. That's all I'm asking." Draco hoped.
"Alright. But we're running out of time with this, Dray. People are already getting curious on how the Longbottom's recovered, it won't take long for that news to reach the dark lord and figure out that odd things are happening around him. There's getting the object Bellatrix was entrusted to protect and figuring out the necklace's location…They're not going to be as easy as the others were." Harry informed.
"We'll figure it out, Harry…You're not doing this alone. We love you…We're with you, don't forget that. You're stronger when you're standing with the people you love. It's why Voldemort can't beat you, Harry…" Draco smiled softly. "You said it yourself in the ministry battle; he doesn't know love or friendship. He doesn't have what you do, he's not fighting for anyone but himself."
"I'll never forget that. Thank you, babe," Harry leaned over to give the man a kiss. "Now, let's eat. I've got a busy day ahead for us."
"Oh, what else are we doing?" Draco wondered.
"Well, I figured after we eat…We could go enjoy Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I got permission from Minerva, of course." Harry informed. "Have lunch out, wander the shops? Come back here for dinner, maybe end the night with me showing you how much I love you and we fall asleep in my bed, cuddled up stark nude? How does that sound?"
The blonde's cheeks burned red. "S-Sounds great…" Draco nodded.
"Then let's eat." Harry smiled to his love.
. . .
It had been an amazing day for Draco and Harry, and they entirely stuck to the plan. After breakfast, Harry and Draco left Hogwarts to get into Diagon Alley. They wandered around the shops, bought a couple things and had lunch together. After lunch, the couple enjoyed Hogsmead too. Getting back to the school, Harry let Minerva know they were there and probably in for the rest of the night unless there was an emergency.
Harry still had a duty as a teacher, and Gryffindor's head of house, so that couldn't be ignored for his rousing night with Draco and of course, Draco knew that. The two were now back in Harry's office, but moving into the bedroom. Harry got a fire going in his personal fireplace, and then he and Draco sat together on the couch, cuddling up and relaxing. The hours ticked away as they talked and snuggled on the couch.
"You know, Harry…It's been a pretty good year." Draco said.
"I have to agree." Harry replied. "Shocking, but good." He added.
"But you're happy, right?" Draco asked.
"It's hard to be, Dray, but I try." Harry admitted. "Yes, I'm happy, but not truly because I know it can change quickly. As long as Voldemort is still alive, I have to worry that something bad is going to happen. I try not to let that get to me, but there've been too many situations where I said it would be okay and it wasn't."
"I understand, Harry. You've suffered more than anyone else, lost the most…Even being you've gained it back by a miracle everyone would wish for." Draco said.
"Yeah…I feel like people aren't gonna be so accepting when the truth comes out that Death himself brought back people close to me, or the people I'm friends with. How many will say it's not fair? How many will let jealousy get to them. It's little things like that which make others do crazy things." Harry informed.
"But you can remind them all that you did not ask for what you got, Harry. You can just leave it at Death decided to do it, even after you told him no." Draco reminded.
"One could hope, but there will always be some who disagree, Dray. It's just life, human nature." Harry told him lightly. "All I want is to fulfill this prophecy and have my life be mine. Not expected to be anything, just my choices, you know. Like how it was my choice to take NEWTs early, and become a teacher. That is something I like, I chose…This being a savior, I didn't choose that. Who wants this burden on their shoulders? It's heavy, and-."
"You're sick of carrying the weight of the world on your back. I know, Harry. It's almost over…" Draco gave his boyfriend a kiss.
"Thank Merlin…" Harry sighed afterward.
"Harry?" Draco asked.
"Yes, love?" Harry replied.
"I-I wanted to ask something about tonight…" Draco said.
"What's that?" Harry smiled.
"W-Well…I was hoping t-that you might let me try being top?" Draco inquired.
"Why are you so nervous to ask this?" Harry chuckled a bit. "I told you when we started dating that if you ever wanted to give it a shot, I wouldn't mind. It was entirely up to you, babe. But you've enjoyed being bottom all this time; it was never set that way permanently. We can switch off when we have sex."
"I still greatly enjoy being bottom and maybe there will be some other times I want to top…I just don't wanna make it awkward cause I've never done it before." Draco told him.
"It won't be awkward, Dray." Harry assured. "We've done it too many times for you to not know what you're doing. It's fine. I trust you and I'm right here if you need guidance, but I think you got it, love."
"You're so sweet," Draco turned a bit, now pressing their bodies together.
"I try." Harry winked as Draco leaned in and captured his boyfriend's lips.
Harry smiled and returned the action, relaxing and letting Draco take control completely. It went as it always did, making out while clothes got removed and tossed carelessly. The lovers kept to the couch through giving each other hand and blowjobs, then finally, they moved onto the bed where Draco got to take lead in preparing Harry's ass by massaging and fingering him. It had been a new feeling for Harry, but Draco kept it slow and easy, while using the lubrication charm Harry taught him. Draco only did more when Harry asked for it, and then they soon got into the actual fucking portion.
It had been incredible and definitely new for Draco to be in control, though Draco felt ridiculously embarrassed when he released early. Harry told him it was fine and happened because of the new feeling. The two continued their fun in making out, but Harry took over and pushed Draco down to have his turn showing Draco a great night. It was probably about 11:30 pm when they'd exhausted themselves and were now lying in bed, breathing hard, enjoying the rush of orgasm. When it died down, the two cleaned up and laid together nude as prior planned to do.
"Have a good time?" Harry asked.
"Amazing…" Draco smiled.
"I meant fucking me, silly boy," Harry chuckled.
"Except for the fact I came super early, I did enjoy it." Draco admitted.
"It's just because it was your first time doing the screwing, love." Harry informed. "It takes some getting used to. I never used to be able to hold out when we first started. And for us to cum together, I'd have to stroke you as I was nearing my orgasm. Don't be ashamed, it gets easier with practice."
"Yeah, well…I still prefer being bottom." Draco muttered.
"Then you stay bottom and I'll be top as we have been, but if you ever want to do it again, have at it. You don't have to ask. Just take over, I'll get the hint." Harry told him. "I quite enjoyed the feeling, so I'm all for doing it again. We're not set at what we are, babe. We can switch off."
"I'll keep it in mind." Draco snuggled up to his boyfriend. "I can't believe it's been a year already."
"I know. Seems like only just yesterday smacked my head on the ground trying to make sure you didn't get hurt and we kissed by accident." Harry teased.
"Shut up…I still feel awful about that." Draco muttered.
"Babe, it's okay. I recovered." Harry told him. "You need to not be so hard on yourself about things," He added and lifted his boyfriend's cheek so their eyes would meet. "Take it from someone who knows better than anyone else…You're not perfect. Life is not perfect. And all the imperfections are what make things so perfect." Harry gave the teenager a light kiss. "Don't feel bad about it, love…It started things for us, and look where we are now…A year later."
"I suppose you're right." Draco nodded. "I love you, Harry."
"I love you too, Draco. Happy anniversary."
"Harry anniversary,"
The two got comfortable as Harry made sure the lights were out and they cuddled close, relaxing, and eventually both drifting off to sleep. It had been an amazing day and night for them. And now, in just a couple weeks; it will be Easter holiday. Sixth year was just about over, and Harry was plotting to finish the horcrux hunt so that maybe the next year could begin entirely anew with no more Voldemort.
