This time of year was nice for her students, no need to stress out themselves for a few measly months, no bombastic problems from hormonal children with blossoming semblances.
But the problem with this time of year without ozpin was harder than ever, the council of remnant had gotten more than enough from beacon to outright want hunter academy disbanded and with the three months previously being a waste of time they had decided that hunter academics were to merely had tighter security and harsher conditions as well as students needing to document everything they came and went no matter the kingdom.
Unfortunately for Glynda Goodwitch the headmistress of beacon in the kingdom of vale that applied to her too!
Thanks to ironwood and qrow glynda was encircled by the ace ops led by Penny. She would have been comfortable with one of the ace ops but this was over kill.
"I'm sure you six are amazing as the next team in atlas but I'm begging you, just leave me with clover or Penny, please!" She exclaimed flippantly.
"You heard what the council-"
"Finish that sentence and I'm whipping you with my crop" Glynda stepped infront of him glaring.
"Marrow, tell oobleck and beacon security that me and Penny stayed with headmistress; the rest of you will trade in shifts." Clover said leaning over glynda's shoulder.
The others Saluted him and said collectively "yes sir!"
Leaving the trio to their own devices glynda sighed with a massive sense of relief and smiled "you two feel like helping me grab some groceries with me?"
Penny with all the innocent puppy energy asked "but...your headmistress, why buy food from vale stores when you get free food from the cafeteria at beacon?"
Clover smirked and and added to this "I'm sure she has her reasons" looking at the stores in their area he spotted a few good stores "here's a good one" he pointed to the store named 'behind the vale' in bold yellow words.
"The academy provides food for the majority of beacon staff sure bit we have our pay garnished for every meal...plus I live in my old office after I took over for ozpin, but I buy food because I enjoy my own cooking." She strolled in with the duo behind her and pulled up her scroll. "and thirdly, I make so much the difference doesn't effect me by much"
"I will send you an interactive list of what we need tonight, cross off an item when you find it and the three of us will know who grabbed what." Clover explained and smiled wide to penny and Glynda. "I'm purple, penny is bronze and Clover your green" she added quickly.
"Wait- aaaaand he's gone" penny complained and went off to gather from the list.
As for the headmistress, she had to assess the information the other three teams collected so far and instant regret hit her when her scroll beeped furiously with reports pointing in all directions except for what she needed to know about: 'why has the grimm grown in mass around remnant, kingdoms will eventually fall if this wasn't dealt with soon.
"I'm glad I'm not alone" she huffed till a little girl giggled and pointed at her.
"Mommy she looks like a queen" she faced glynda and added "she's so beautiful...you a queen lady?"
Glynda went red in the face blushing hard. "Oh my, little girl that's sweet of you" she said smiling at her.
The little girl giggled and hugged her mom as they left. Glynda however stood there stunned that at her age she was still beautiful, maybe its not too late to adopt at least.
A few hours passed and the three of them returned to beacon with practically a feast for twenty people but she knew that the ace ops, her, Port, and oobleck -the teachers who stayed on campus- so it stood to reason that she had every one of them in her backyard for once to help shed their stress for a day of just existing like her students tended to do as often as they could and not talk shop.
"Headmistress, may ask you a question?" Penny inquired sitting beside her at the table and silenced the room to a genuinely troubling degree.
"If it's about the different teams looking for information then no you can't" she replied trying to sound intimidating but sounded more like a mother.
"Not that, I was wondering why it took cole valentine minutes to destroy the indomitable Camaraderie between teams rwby and jnpr when he fought them"
"I can answer that one actually" they all looked to her and no one honestly wanted to have asked but she knew they were curious in some way. "it's because it took the eyes of an outsider to expose both sides and he held nothing back. To hit the eight to their cores as he did was jarring to say the least and although he didn't do anything to miss rose externally or internal she had long since realized his havoc and allowed cole to have fled, but as I said two years ago the footage everyone saw was fabricated"
Oobleck smiled and said "sometimes ones history is defined not by the world enmass but those as individuals capable of great feats of change"
"Quite profound, but no talking shop the taste if this delightful meal might spoil" port said seldomly.
Harriet smiled deviously and added "plus oobleck, you just spoon fed spoons with that simplification" and said comment earn her a glare and a lump of potatoes hitting her forehead.
Everyone carried on eating and talking about everything that came up and as time came to leave Harriet of all people said "how about we just light a fire and watch a movie; projector is in my car and I'm sure you all have a movie in mind"
"I'm sorry but we at beacon have classes to plan and some of my students who need the extra classes are still at beacon" port piped up but glynda shut it down.
"I left them an email that I personally would drill them on all areas in a week so I think you and oobleck can afford a few days to just decompress" glynda dug in deep in her motherlyness and just latched on for dear life.
"Well, then In that case a movie would benefit us all" vine of all people said as he went with harriet. 'Our date can wait for now harriet' he added mentally for himself smiling sagely at harriet.
The rest were dumbstruck by that turn of events, but just went with it helping put the leftovers in a walk-in fridge, got set up for a movie night when Glynda said "I have a dust generated fire in my living room and space for us all; it's not exactly warm outside and I'd feel better inside."
No one argued so they simply moved Inside to gather for the movie night.
Elm, Clover and penny got snacks, glynda took care of the blankets and closed windows and blinds and vine and Harriet set up the projector against the wall while vine pushed in a movie chip but no one knew what it was.
"What did you put in vine, it better not be a boring one" penny teased.
Vine shook his head and said "it's one of general Ironwood's favorite movies"
Harriet shot her head in his direction and groaned, and the others from atlas did in their way.
"What's the problem with the movie in question?" Port asked smiling wide.
"Ugh, professor James watches movies no one would watch unless it's torture leave it there and watch the movie"
Just as harrow said this glynda knew the movie in an instant and blurted out "I love this movie!" Smiling wide she smashed the play button and giggled at the introduction to the movie with a wolverine faunas shirtless and raggedly moving recently hunted game on his shoulders.
Everyone looked at her suspicion rising till Clover in a monotone voice said "you and him are the same in taste in movies I swear"
"Oh please, I may be a bit rough on my students in class but you gotta admit that rough man is pretty hot"
No one confirmed or denied that so she was left alone with it.
The movie was 3 hours long so glynda had spent half of said movie sorting out the timeline of reports from professor rivia and his daughter, then Ironwood and qrow...the problem with ciri's report of the sudden collapse of land that massive in mistral was that it was damn near the EXACT same time as weiss' abduction and the group 'saviors' had terrorized a village on the outskirts of Anima and the edge of haven.
Qrow's report stated that Dr.merlot was on the list and baron had been meeting with a woman named: S, powerful and rich by the looks of it with financial records and the equipment that had been smuggled then scrubbed from records...wasn't fast enough since she had them now.
Geralt had reported that Adam Taurus, ranked Major in the white fang had defected from cinder three years ago with a chameleon faunas named: ilia amitola Blake's old friend and killer by the blade she carried...issues were that she'd been working as a nurse but not where.
Glynda was beyond stressed out that by and large they had less than they had months ago-.
"Glynda your gonna miss it!" Penny exclaimed shaking the headmistress and pointing at the man on screen.
The screen showed a man and a child fighting a slender bearded man atop an old mountainous tower when the man choking beard man jumped off the edge follwed close by the boy whom used a dust bow shooting the man in his chest one bolt after another.
The muscular man whipped the beard man around and slammed him face first in the ground and in a sequence of strength the man and child punched and kicked him back until the man was thrown to the ground and choked out yet again but this time he was on top of him trying to kill him.
"You will not touch my son, I'll kill you" he growled until the boy rushed to his side.
"Father, this isn't who you want to be" being ignored he screamed with tears in his eyes "father your not a monster stop this"
Flinching at this he shot to his feet and dropped the assassin. "Your right, he's of no consequence"
"Your just as weak as your boy...these days a moral code gets you slaughtered" he roared rasping as is a fire scorched his vocal chords. "I'll prove it to ya" he laughed as he grabbed the boy by the neck and slammed his back into a rock.
The man was on him In an instant, breaking his arms with a mighty CRUNCH and grabbed his neck in a choke hold "the cycles of murder ends here, must be better than this" and right in front of his mother snapped his neck like a toothpick.
The movie ended there fading In black then a second later white calligraphy showed on the screen: who I was, is not who you will be. We must be better...
Glynda watched the screen in awe as the credits ran up with ceremonious music and that was where she was going to call it a night until the others stood up with elm at the lead and smiled.
"What is it elm?" Glynda questioned stretching out her arms yawning.
"The night is far from over, feel like clueing us in on what they found out there or would you like to drink till the crow sings" she giggled at her words.
"If that's a jab at my relationship with qrow, I'd let it be known he and I are colleagues nothing more...but since you all look lively I guess we can break a few sealed bottles of whatever is in the kitchen"
