I'm tired of waiting for answers to my question for this story so I'ma write it. (I'm as impatient as Starscream sometimes.)

The FL (female lead) is mute-ish, like Soundy here, she hates talking with her real voice and will use alternatives to get her point across or express how or what she feels/thinks. "_" means she edited a part out of the original word(s).

Diary log entry 101.

7 am-12 pm.

Hi diary, you probably already know me as Theresa Roy, but now I might have a different last name. Darby.

Yes, I'm still at the orphanage at age 15...

What else should you know? Ah, earlier today, we (me and my caretaker, Mia) went to my doctor's appointment and she found out that I wasn't mute, I just chose to be. I hope that bit of untold info doesn't ruin our friendship we've built over the years.

Oh, I have to go, Mia is calling me over for lunch.

See you soon diary!

I sighed as I closed the book I'd dubbed as my diary, hearing Mia calling my name again from downstairs.

I turned on my phone and scrolled thru my folder of many recorded bits and clips of songs- with full songs in the mix as well, however they were kept in a different folder- and played a clip from a Christmas song, "I'm coming ho~me." Whoever was singing it sang as I went down the stairs. Years of dealing with my odd word choices made her understand what I had meant to say and what I hadn't.

I heard a giggle from down the hall. That sounds like a good sign, perhaps our friendship has not suffered at all. I thought, making my way to the dining room.

"Nice to see you up and about, Theresa, would you like to introduce yourself to miss Darby?" Mia sat in her usual place, waving me over to sit to her right.

"..." I said nothing, Mia quickly realizing her mistake, "Oh, I mean, use your recordings and such, not your voice."

I flipped thru my folders until I found what sound clip that I'd created for this occasion.

"Oh how lovely- to- meet Cha." The various voices were confusing to miss Darby, if the look on her face meant anything.

"Is she mute?" Miss Darby asked.

"Yes, sadly yes." I was slightly shocked that Mia would keep my not-muteness a secret.

"Well, would you be fine in having a brother around your age?" she asked me, I nodded. "What is your name, dear?"

"Ther- e_sa-" A broken-sounding clip said. "Theresa? What a nice name. I'll adopt her, Miss." She told Mia.

Goodbyes were short so my clips could manage all the talking, but they were meaningful. Soon I was off to my new home with miss Darby. We were soon there and when I opened the door, I saw a boy that was around my height laying across the sofa. He got up when he spotted me and mom.

"Hey mom, who is this?" He asked.

"Theresa is your new sister, could you make her feel welcome here, Jack? Oh, why don't you introduce her to your friends?" Miss Darby- though I guess I should address her as 'mom' now- said.

"O... kay. So," Jack turned to me, "What do you want to do?"

"Mute, under- standing here- why it's a- puzzle." My phone said.

"Ah, well, I'll understand what you mean to say in time." He said.

I didn't play a clip, Jack took that as my version of not speaking. "Um, I guess I can give you a tour of our home." He said awkwardly. I nodded to show that I was okay with that.

When the tour was over and I was shown my room. I unpacked a backpack that Mia had given me during our goodbyes, I found everything that had lots of sentimental value to me. I smiled, Mia always knew how to make me happy even when we're apart.

After I had finished unpacking my things and placing them where I deemed they should be, I went downstairs and into the garage for a motorcycle ride that Jack had promised me.

We rode down the road to the fast-food place where Jack worked and, after checking in with Jack's manager, I sat in the back.

I watched as the person flipping the burgers did so sluggishly, as if they were tired to the extreme. I walked over and ask them thru my sound bites and clips if I could do it, they must have thought I was an angel or something because they practically shoved the spatula into my hands and went into another room.

"-anything else?" I overheard a conversation between a customer and Jack- it's not really 'overhearing' if you're together in a small area-.

"Yeah, how can I get an awesome job like yours?" The man on the other side of the speaker acted like the snobby kids I used to get bullied by, meaning I had to do something or ignore my past.

I opted for burning their burgers and putting sprinkles on it, the sugar melting the longer I had it on the burger. Jack didn't know what I'd done to them, so I felt a bit bad when- no, trash that thought of sympathy- the boys grabbed the food and drove off without paying, they deserve to have gross burgers.

I began laughing my head off and Jack had to calm me down so that he could ask me why I was laughing. I made a clip explaining what happened and soon Jack was laughing alongside me.

"I think we're going to get along just fine." He said when we stopped laughing.
