Hello there, and welcome to the first chapter of my pokemon vs monster hunter death battle series. Hope you all enjoy it.

Charizard

First up is Charizard. Now for the sake of fairness. We will be using a normal Charizard. Meaning this Charizard WON'T be Red's Charizard, Alain's Charizard, Ash's Charizard or Ieon's Charizard. It will be the average Charizard. There will also be no mega evolution, no dynamax or gigantamax. With that out of the way, let's see what Charizard can do.

Attack potency

Charizards are strong pokemon, being one of the starters of the Kanto that already gives it some status of power, as starter pokemon are known to be very powerful and easy to train. Charizard types are fire and flying and have the ability Blaze, which when activated increases Charizard's fire type attack further.

But being a pokemon, Charizards aren't one trick ponies. Outside of its fire type attacks, it can use moves like Air Slash, Slash, Mega Punch, Mega Kick, Steel Wing, Dragon Breath, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail and so many other moves it can learn. Including moves to strengthen it or weekend its opponents. Like the move Growl or Belly Drum.

Charizard's flames are hot enough to melt boulders meaning the flames would have to be anywhere from 1100 to 2400 degrees fahrenheit, or 600 to 1300 celsius to melt them.

Feats

— Is able to fight against fully evolved pokemon. Like the other starters, Machamp, Steelix, Dragonite and more.

— Can break metal like it's nothing. Examples are destroying metal doors, builds and giant robots.

— Charizards are known to seek out strong opponents to grow stronger.

Speed

Charizards have a lot of powers. But they're not just strong, they're also fast too. Being able to react to electric attacks and keep up with fast pokemon. Like Pidgeot.

Now what's so special about Pidgeot you say? Will nothing, other than the fact that these pokemon on average can fly at mach 2! That 1500 mph, just so you know. And Charizards can keep up with this speed no problem. Hell this isn't even that fast in the pokemon world, if I'm being honest.

Pokemon like Latias and Latios can fly faster than jet planes, Zeraora can move as fast as a lightning bolt. And several pokemon can fly fast enough to escape the earth's orbit! Which you would need to be going 25000 mph, to escape! Like how Mewtwo did it with Genesect, or how Rayquaza and Deoxys do it all the time without trying.

Now admittedly these are legendary we are using so Charizards DON'T scale to this. But even non legendary pokemon have shown great speed feats. Like Dragonite who circles the earth's diameter in 16 hours! The earth's diameter is 7925 miles long.

Feats

— Can react to fast attacks, from fast pokemon. Like Pidgeot.

— Can keep up with Dragonite, who is fast enough to circle the world in less than a day.

— Can travel at the speed of sound with no problem at all.

Durability

Now while Charizards are fast and powerful, where they fell short is in their defense. Charizards are well known to be glass cannons. Having a lot of power but can't take a power hit themselves.

That's not to say they can't take a hit however. Charizards are still able to take hits from fully evolved pokemon like Machamp or Garchomp. They can even take hits from Blastoise water cannons. Which can shoot water powerful even to pierce steel and keep on going! Despite water being one of the main weaknesses Charizards have.

And while it has been stated many times that if a Charizard tail flame goes out it dies. The tail flame has been able to survive being submerged in freezing cave water. Like how Red's Charizard did in the pokemon special Pokemon Origins. While this Charizard that will be fighting WON'T be Red's Charizard, I think it fair to say that most Charizard won't die if they are submerged in water, or else Charizards would be dying left and right.

Feats

— Can take hits from Machamp and keep going.

— Can take getting hit by Blastoise water cannons.

— While frail, Charizards are tough pokemon and won't go down easy.

Weaknesses

—Is weak to water, electric, and rock type attacks.

—Is still fairly frail by pokemon standards.

—Its ability Blaze requires it to be wounded to use it.

Rathalos

Rathalos the flagship of the monster hunter franchise. It is the monster most people think about when thinking about the monster hunter series. Appearing in every monster hunter game so far and will likely continue to appear in more games.

Rathalos are considered the kings of the skies in the monster hunter world. Being a top apex predator, outside of the elder dragons not many monsters can challenge them.

Attack potency

Rathalos are big monsters with the strength to back it up. Rathalos can break rock like nothing being protected by a thick layer of scales allowing them to smash through stone pillars with minimum effort.

They have powerful muscles being able to lift big monsters like an anjanath, who are big trex like monsters while still being able to stay in the air. They are able to shoot fireballs from their mouths.

And if being powerful enough to smash rock and shoot fire isn't enough to put their foes down, they have a big tail with poison spikes to kill their foes slowly with poison.

All of this is what helps keep them the kings of the skies. And like all monsters in monster hunter, can enter a state called enrage, the enrage state makes them more aggressive and powerful. All of this is what makes Rathalos remain as one of the deadliest monsters known in the monster hunter world.

Feats

— Is one of the most recognized apex monsters in the monster hunter world.

— Can compete with other apex monsters, like Nargacuga.

— Can become enraged to help increase its power and speed.

Durability

Rathalos are also just as if not more durable than they are powerful. If there's one thing that monsters in monster hunter series are known for, it is their high durability and extreme pain tolerance.

Monsters in monster hunter can take all kinds of beatings. From anywhere to having their arms, legs, back, stomach and head broken. To having their god damn tails sliced off, and still having the will to keep fighting!

And Rathalos is no different. Being able to keep fighting with broken wings, broken legs, a broken head and of course having their tail sliced off.

Rathalos are willing to keep fighting till it wins or dies.

Feats

— Can keep fighting with broken limbs and a severed tail.

— Can take sword slashes, hammer impacts, bullets and explosions.

— Will keep fighting till it can't fight anymore.

Speed

Rathalos aren't just strong and tough, they're also fast. Makes sense, since they are called the kings of the skies for a reason. In Monster Hunter 3, in the intro, we see a Rathalos fly up to a mountain while carrying an Aptonoth. Now the exact size of said mountain isn't very clear. And doesn't seem to be very big as it is below the clouds. But most mountains are at least a few thousands feet tall. And the Rathalos were able to reach that height in just a few seconds.

And being an apex predator it also has been able to keep up with other fast apex monsters like Astalos.

Feats

— Can fly up to the height of a mountain in just a few seconds.

— Can keep up with other apex monsters.

— Is known as the kings of the skies, so outside of the elder dragons, should be considered one of the fastest monsters in the monster hunter world.

While Rathalos are powerful, they are far from invincible. They are weak to the dragon and the thunder element. And are just animals, so they aren't very smart or strategic and rely on instinct alone to guide. So smart hunters are able to work around its power, like luring it into a pit trap or a shock trap.

And while its enrage state makes it stronger, it doesn't last very long and when it's over, it's normally exhausted which can leave it open for an attack.

Weaknesses

—Is weak to dragon and thunder elements.

—Rely on instinct alone for its fights, so it isn't very strategic.

—Its enrage doesn't last long and is vulnerable when it's over.

Alright let's begin this death battle!

(In the Ancient Forest)

The Ancient Forest, home to many creatures big and small. It was like any other forest. Except for having a MASSIVE tree in the center. This tree was the very center of the forest. It stood with the clouds, going thousands of feet into the air, with its branches and roots spreading across the entire forest itself.

Naturally this was the perfect place for a king. A king who was one with the skies, a king who stood above the creatures of this forest. A king who had claimed a spot on one of the massive tree's branches.

Rathalos had claimed a section on one of the tree's big branches. It was laying in its nest with its wings covering its eggs. It was about to take a nap, when it heard something loud.

Crack!

A loud cracking sound made it wake up instantly. Looking around it saw the source of the cracking noise and what it saw was something it had never seen before.

In the sky was a hole. Yes, a literal hole in the skies itself. Rathalos was looking at this hole with a great amount of confusion. A moment later something came out of it.

"Raaaar!"

A small orange colored flying wyvern came out of the hole. It looked around in the air, confused as the hole behind it closed up. Eventually the small flying wyvern spotted Rathalos and tilted its head in confusion. Rathalos did not know what this small flying wyvern was, but it didn't care. It was in its territory and for that it was going to die!

Charizard looked at the big strange pokemon. Not knowing what it was looking at. It was just going about its day when an ultra wormhole sucked it in and dropped into this unknown place. The big strange pokemon got up and roared a deafening roar, powerful enough that Charizard flinched from the sheer volume of it. And as soon as it was done roaring the strange pokemon started to fly at it with its jaws wide open.

Fight!

Charizard was barely able to fly out of the way of Rathalos's attempt to eat Charizard whole. Charizard decided to get some distance and flew away quickly. Now that Charizard was a good distance away it fired a Flamethrower. The Flamethrower hit one of the Rathalos's massive wings, but despite it being a direct hit the wing was completely unharmed.

Rathalos then flew at Charizard again, aiming to eat Charizard again. This time Charizard was not only able to dodge the bite, but was able to hit Rathalos with a glowing white fist. The Mega Punch hit Rathalos at the side of its head, making it flinch slightly. Rathalos then swings its head hitting Charizard and knocking it away.

Rathalos then fired fireballs at Charizard, but Charizard was able to dodge them easily. Charizard then fired a Flamethrower at Rathalos face, but all this did was annoy Rathalos as Rathalos gave chase to Charizard. The two of them were in an air battle now, with Charizard dodging Rathalos's fireballs and Rathalos tanking Charizard's Flamethrowers.

Eventually Charizard decided to fly away from Rathalos. Rathalos flew after Charizard shooting fireballs at it, as much as it could. Charizard was quickly gaining distance from Rathalos, as Rathalos was struggling to catch Charizard.

Charizard then shot a Fire Blast at Rathalos, the Fire Blast hit Rathalos in a giant explosion of fire. Charizard stopped for a moment to see the results of its attack. A second later a fireball hit Charizard directly. The fireball was actually not as painful as Charizard though it would be. In fact Charizard was more surprised than hurt by the attack.

A roar was heard a second later and Rathalos was quickly flying at Charizard again. Rather than fly away again, Charizard waited a moment as Rathalos was quickly heading for Charizard. With great speed Charizard flew under Rathalos as Rathalos went for another bite attack. Charizard then hit Rathalos's belly with a Mega Punch. The Mega Punch caused Rathalos to roar in pain, as its underbelly was less protected than the top of its body. While Rathalos was in pain, Charizard flew up to Rathalos's face and used Slash. The long glow nails slashed at Rathalos scales, chipping them slightly.

With its attacks done, Charizard quickly flew away again from Rathalos. Rathalos roared in anger and flew at Charizard again, but just like last time it was struggling to keep up with Charizard's speed.

As Charizard gained more distances another idea formed in its head. Charizard started to slow down slightly and Rathalos was now catching up. Rathalos was about to go for another bite attack, when Charizard suddenly turned around with a glowing leg.

Charizard hit Rathalos in the face with a surprised Mega Kick. Rathalos wasn't prepared for the sudden attack and was blown away. It struggled to maintain its flight, but Charizard wasn't done.

Charizard flew at Rathalos and grabbed its long tail by the middle of it. Then with strength that shouldn't be possible for a creature of Charizard's size, Charizard began to spin Rathalos around in a circle. Rathalos was spinning around like a spinning top and was starting to get dizzy. Then it was suddenly over. Charizard threw Rathalos downwards, Rathalos hit the ground hard and struggled to get up, but Charizard still wasn't done, as a rain of Air Slashes came down on it.

The Air Slashes were powerful enough to kick up dirt and Rathalo's screams of pain could be heard from the dust cloud that was covering it. After a moment Charizard stopped its Air Slash attack and waited for the dust to clear.

And what a mistake that was. As a second later a VERY loud roar of anger came from the dust cloud. Rathalos had been enraged.

Rathalos suddenly flew at Charizard faster than it ever did before and smashed Charizard with its huge head. Charizard was completely unprepared for the sudden increase of speed and strength and was blown away and almost lost its control of its flight. But this was proved pointless as Rathalos then slammed Charizard with its big tail. Making Charizard lose control of its flight and crash into the ground. Charizard tried to get up but was quickly grabbed by one of Rathalos' talons. Rathalos slammed Charizard into the ground several times, before finally letting go by throwing it into the air and hitting Charizard with a fireball before Charizard could even land on the ground.

Charizard, now angry at being beaten and tossed like a ragdoll, got up just in time to see Rathalos running toward it. Charizard grabbed a hold of Rathalos's head and was trying to stop its charge. It struggled for a moment before finally being able to stop Rathalo's charge. Rathalos was about to shoot a fireball, when Charizard hit Rathalos with a Mega Punch under the chin, Rathalos's fireball shot upwards, then Charizard turned and hit Rathalos with a glow blue tail, Rathalos was send backwards as it roared in more pain then it felt before from Charizard's previous attacks.

Charizard's Dragon Tail did enough damage to halt Rathalo's rampage for a second. Charizard then fired a Dragon Breath at Rathalo's face. To Charizard surprise, Rathalos fell over with a painful cry and now with a scorch mark on its face. Charizard was still surprised by this as its fire type attacks did little to no damage and while its other attacks did do a decent amount of damage, none of its other attacks were able to do this much damage. It was almost like-

Charizard's eyes wide at the realization it had come too. But while it had discover one of Rathalos weakness, it take too much time to figure it out as Rathalos got back up on it feet and charged at Charizard again, Charizard had it arms ready to stop Rathalos charge again, when at the last second Rathalos turned around and hit Charizard with it tail.

The big tail knocked Charizard away and the big spikes on the tail were able to pierce Charizard's skin, around the torso leaving small holes in it. Charizard slammed into a tree breaking it with the amount of force behind the tail attack. As Charizard tried to get up, it saw Rathalos charging at it again. Charizard threw itself to the side to avoid the charge and quickly fired a Dragon Breath.

The Dragon Breath hit Rathalos's side, almost making it fall over and leaving another scorch mark on its body. Charizard quickly flew into the air now that it had a moment away from the non-stop attacking from Rathalos.

Rathalos went into the air charging at Charizard, but just like before Charizard was able to dodge it. Charizard was about to fire another Dragon Breath, when suddenly it started to cough, causing it to stop its attack.

Rathalos took advantage of this opening, it opened its huge mouth and bit down on Charizard. Charizard was almost swallowed whole as it tried to fight back against Rathlos's jaws. Charizard used its armies and legs to prove itself from being eaten. Charizard could feel the sharp teeth biting into its skin on its back and feet. Charizard then shot a Dragon Breath down into Rathlos's throat, the attack burned Rathalos's throat badly causing it to open its jaws wide open, giving Charizard the opportunity to escape.

As Charizard flew out of Rathalos's mouth. It saw that Rathlos was flailing around in pain of its now burned throat, Charizard came at it with a glowing green claw. Just when the Dragon Claw attack was about to hit Rathalos, Charizard suddenly stopped its attack and started to cough violently again, and even some blood came out of Charizard coughing.

As Charizard was having a coughing attack, Rathalos had recovered from the pain of its throat and hit Charizard with its tail, knocking it down to the ground. As Charizard tried to get up, Rathlaos kicked Charizard with its big talons, sending Charizard sliding painfully across the ground.

Rathalos wasn't done however and crashed down on Charizard with its heavy weight, creating a crater from the force of its crash. Flying up, Rathalos saw Charizard in the crater and was injured as it tried to get back up.

Rathalos wasn't having that, and fired a barrage of fireballs down on Charizard. The fireballs hit Charizard's back as the ground was quickly catching fire, Rathalos kept up its assault and after the ninth fireball, it charged up the tenth fireball with more power and shot it at the downed Charizard.

A huge fiery explosion happened when the fully charged fireball hit Charizard, creating a big cloud of smoke.

Rathalos roared in victory before landing down on the ground, breathing heavily. Its enraged state had ended with its last fireball and was now exhausted. Too exhausted to even stay in the air, but it had won. It had protected its eggs and territory from the small flying wyvern. It turned away from the massive smoke cloud and started to walk away sluggishly.

"RRRRRRRRR!"

Rathalos heard an angry roar from behind it. Before it could turn around to see what was the source of the roar, something hit its back and it HURT A LOT! And a big explosion happened after the attack hit.

Rathalos didn't know what had hit it, but whatever it was it had hurt more than any other attack it had felt before in this battle. Rathalos fell over on the ground in pain as its back was visibly smoking from the surprise attack. As it lay painfully on the ground it turned its head to face what had attacked it.

And to its great surprise it was Charizard flying in the air. It was injured, having scratches and bruises on its body, but it was far from dead yet. Charizard had no problems tanking Rathalos' mad barrage of fireballs thanks to its fire type. In fact only the last fireball that was charged had done any real damage and even then it wasn't much.

When Rathalos had turned it back when it thought it had won, Charizard fired a Dragon Pulse seeing how effective its dragon type attacks were on it.

Charizard started to cough again, as its chest started to hurt. Looking down it saw the holes that were caused by the spikes of Rathalos's tail, were leaking a purple like liquid from them. It was now that Charizard realized why it was having coughing attacks all of a sudden.

It was poisoned.

Rathalos got up fighting through the pain and ran at Charizard, but its speed was severely lacking from exhaustion and Charizard had no problem dodging Rathalos's bite attack. As Charizard dodged Rathalos' attack it quickly spun around and slammed the top Rathalos's head with a Dragon Tail.

Crack!

"AAAAAA!" Rathalos cried in pain.

Rathalos was sent crashing down as well as the protective scales on its head were smashed to pieces, breaking a part of Rathalos head as a lot of its scales broke off of it. Rathalos thrash around on the ground in pain before slowly getting up.

Just when it was on its feet a Dragon Pulse hit its back again and ended up breaking more of Rathalos's protective scales and sending it down on the ground again.

Charizard was about to fire again with the poison kick in again, causing it pain and forcing Charizard to stop its attack for a moment. A moment was all that Rathalos needed to get back up and flew at Charizard again while it was in pain.

Charizard tried to dodge Rathalos again but the pain of the poison made it sluggish in its flight. And so was caught by one of Rathalos' talons, Rathalos slammed Charizard hard against a rocky wall, which caused Charizard great amounts of pain and cough up more blood, Rathalos then threw Charizard away from it and fired a fireball that hit Charizard.

Charizard hit the ground and struggled to get up, Rathalos meanwhile landed on the ground panting trying to get its breath. Eventually Charizard got up and coughed up some blood from the poison.

Charizard quickly fired a Dragon Pulse when it saw Rathalos was running towards it. The attack hit Rathalos head on, and Rathalos ended up tripping from the attack. As Rathalos was on the ground again Charizard came at it with Dragon Claw attacks hitting its unprotected body. Charizard aimed its Dragon Claw attacks around the tail to avoid getting hit by Rathalos' flailing feet.

Rathalos finally got up and roared with anger. Charizard quickly moved away from Rathalos as it was getting up. Rathalos, now in its enraged state again, came charging at Charizard with great speed. Rather than meet Rathalos's charge with its own, Charizard waited, and just when Rathalos was about to hit Charizard, Charizard quickly moved out of the way and fired a Dragon Pulse on Rathalos side.

The attack destroyed more of Rathalos's scales and even hit a part of its wing, burning it. But Rathalos fought through the pain, quickly turning around and charging again. Charizard was not able to move out of the way and was sent flying back by a powerful headbutt and Charizard felt some bone break in its chest making it cough out more blood. As Charizard was on the floor it was hit by more fireballs by Rathalos. But just like before the fireballs were useless against Charizard. As Charizard got up it was hit by a tail swing knocking it away and crashing through another tree again.

As Charizard was on the ground in pain, it could feel something happening in its body. Rathalos came at Charizard again, stepping on it and flying into the air with Charizard in Rathalos's talons again. As Rathalos got more into the air, Charizard suddenly roared in anger, its tail flame now blazing, with the activation of its blaze ability. Charizard used Dragon Claw at the talon that was holding it, its two claws ripping into Rathalos's skin.

Rathalos dropped Charizard from the sudden attack, as Charizard was on the ground it fired a Dragon Pulse, hitting Rathalos under belly causing it to fall. Charizard quickly got out of the way from Rathalos's crash landing.

As Rathalos got up it charged at Charizard again. When it was about to meet Charizard it spun on its talons and swung its tail at it.

"AAAAAAAA!" Rathalos suddenly cried and fell over with its tail now severed.

Just as Rathalos's tail was about to hit Charizard, Charizard attacked it with its Dragon Claw, which was enough to sever the big end of its tail. Charizard coughed blood again from the poison, but this time it did not stop and rushed at Rathalos.

Rathalos got up in time to take a Dragon Claw in the face.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Rathalos cried again, as the Dragon Claw hit one of its eyes, blinding it.

As it was crying in pain, Charizard flew away and fired a Dragon Pulse hit Rathalos, making it fall over again. Charizard then landed on the weakened Rathalos back and started clawing mad with Dragon Claw.

Each Dragon Claw ripped into Rathalos skin. Its protective scales now burned and broke and were unable to handle the relentless assault. Rathalos cried pain, trying to get up, but Charizard wasn't stopping its attacks, and Rathalos was losing feeling in its back. Charizard had effectively dug a big hole into its back. Charizard could see the bones, veins and organs now. Charizard finally stopped its merciless attack.

Charizard was covered in blood and was breathing heavily. It flew out of the hole it had created on Rathalos's back. It landed in front of Rathalos's head and saw that it was slowly losing life. Rathalos looked at Charizard and tried to bite it, but found it unable to move.

Charizard raised one Dragon Claw and thrust it into its head. Charizard Dragon Claw pierce through Rathalos's damaged head and hit its brain, finally killing it.

Charizard pulled out its claw and looked at the dead body, before roaring loudly in victory.

KO!

Now that's what I call a bloody battle! Now onto the results.

This battle was close, like VERY close. So why did Charizard win this battle you ask?

Well let's start with states first. While its true Rathalos has much greater durability and would be able to keep getting to the end, it however is lacking in another category, that being speed.

While it's true that Rathalos is considered the king of the skies and is likely one of the faster monsters in the monster hunter world outside of the elders, its speed was honestly not that impressive. Being able to fly thousands of feet into the air in a few seconds is impressive, but even this is slow when compared to pokemon speed.

Let's take a look at two of the fastest monsters in the monster hunter world Kirin and Valstrax. For those of you who don't know, Kirin and Valstrax are elder dragons that are known and considered the fastest monsters in the monster hunter world.

Kirin is said to be as fast as lighting, but I believe this to be nothing but an exaggeration of lore by the people of the monster hunter world. And that is because of one monster that is known to actively hunt Kirins. That monster being Rajang. Rajangs are known to be able to keep up and even catch Kirins with their speed. And while Rajang is a fast monster I don't think it could move at the speed of lighting as the speed of lighting is over 100,000 mph! There is NO WAY in hell Kirin, let alone Rajang could move that fast, even in short bursts of speed.

Next is Valstrax. Valstrax is known and even stated to be the fastest monster in the monster hunter franchise, even faster than the Kirin, Valstrax is able to go at speeds of mach 1. Putting it at 750mph. That's fast, but do you know who's faster?

Yep Charizard.

Charizard can keep up with pokemon like Pidgeot, who can go at mach 2 on average. Putting it at double the speed of the fastest monster in the monster hunter series! And while Rathalos is fast by monster hunter standard, I highly doubt it could compare to Valstrax or Kirin in the speed department.

So Rathalos was tougher and Charizard was faster. But even so Charizard wasn't that behind in durability compared to Rathalos. Hell while Charizard is lacking in the durability department it was able to take hits from Blastoise's steel piercing water cannons and hits from pokemon like Machamp who can throw punches with a megaton of force behind it. So Charizard wasn't as frail as some people believe.

So what about power?

Well this one goes to Charizard. Monsters like Rathalos can break rock no problem. But pokemon on Charizard's level could break steel and giant robots like nothing! Charizard also has more fire power behind it. I mean that both literally and figuratively.

Charizard's fire could melt stone putting it around 2000 degrees fahrenheit, and while we can't be sure how hot Rathalos flames are, we can see that they aren't hot enough to melt rock, so it's likely Charizard's flame is hotter.

While we're on the topic of fire, it should go without saying that both Charizard's and Rathalos's fire attacks were useless against each other. The main difference here is that Charizard wasn't limited to its fire attack, while Rathalos was, making its most used weapon useless against Charizard. And while fire is also Charizard's main weapon too, Charizard had plenty of other options to help it.

Like Mega Punch, Air Slash and most importantly Dragon Breath, Dragon Claw and Dragon Pulse.

With its dragon type moves it could exploit Rathalos main weakness to dragon. While Rathalos couldn't exploit Charizard weakness to water, thunder, or rock. And while it is true that Charizard would not know this, it would likely have figured it out during the fight. This is because of an important factor in this fight.

Intelligence.

Pokemon have always shown to have human level intelligence or higher for some. Rathalos on the other hand is just a wild animal that relies on instinct. Now why is intelligence important, you ask?

Well because, during the fight Charizard would be smart enough to quickly realize that its fire attacks weren't working on Rathalos, so it would naturally try different attacks. And eventually it would start using its dragon type attacks, and would realize that dragon type attacks were the most effective on Rathalos and stick to using dragon type attacks.

But Rathalos wasn't helpless. Its best shot at winning was its poison, but given Charizard's greater speed and smaller size, it was very unlikely that Rathalos was going to be able to hit Charizard with its big tail. So Charizard would be able to dodge it, as least for a while.

And even if Charizard got poison, it wasn't like it would be an instant victory for Rathalos.

One Rathalos are known for their fire more than their poison, so it's likely that its poison is more of a secondary weapon then its prime weapon. So like Charizard, it would be using its fire first rather than its poison.

Two we aren't sure how strong its poison really is. Other monsters have poison and not all of them are equal in how bad they are. Like a Chameleos's poison is going to be stronger than a Pukei-Pukei poison. So the strength of a Rathalos's poison is a little unclear. But we can speculate with the information we have.

A Rathalos's poison is likely stronger than a Pukei-Pukei poison, such Rathalos is a superior monster. But even if it was, that isn't as impressive as it seems at first glance. As hunters are able to continue to fight being poisoned, and aren't in an immediate need of an antidote. So it wouldn't be able to kill Charizard instantly.

Plus even if it was super strong, it's not like the pokemon world is a stranger to poison. Hell poison is one of the 18 types a pokemon could be, so pokemon are familiar with poison. And given that Kanto, the place where Charizards are normally in, is home to some pretty powerful poison type pokemon. Like Muk or Nidoking. So it is unlikely that the poison would kill Charizard fast enough and given Charizard speed and smaller size advantage it was unlikely that Rathalos would be able to poison Charizard before taking some serious damage.

And while the enraged state would help close the speed and power gap, It doesn't last very long and Rathalos is exhausted when it's over.

But like I said this match was close, Rathalos much greater durability would let it tank more attacks and its insane pain tolerance would keep it going.

But Charizard's greater speed, access to dragon type attacks, and greater intelligence let it clutch victory.

The winner is Charizard.

Winner: Charizard

+ Greater speed

+ Had more destructive power

+ Could exploit Rathalos's weakness to dragon

+ Had greater intelligence

= Was immune to Rathalos's fire attacks

Was less durable

Loser: Rathalos

+ Was way more durable

+ Poison could slowly kill Charizard

= Was immune to Charizard's fire attacks

Had no way to exploit Charizard's weakness

Much slower

Has little intelligence

+/— Enraged would help close the power and speed gap but leaves it vulnerable when it ended.

And that's the first battle!

What do you guys think?

Do you agree or disagree with the results? And if so why?

Leave your reviews, and I will answer them in the author notes of the next chapter. Outside of that what do you think of the fight? Was it good or bad? What parts could I do better at? And was this fight both realistic and enjoyable to read? I would love the feedback please.

Also feel free to leave any recommended fights between pokemon and monster that you would like to see, and maybe one of them will be in this story.

Other than that, hope you found this battle fun at least and that it was a good enough opener for this series!
