Welcome to my fanfiction of my favourite Star Wars villian, General Grievous. This is my interpretation of General Grievous' Legends backstory (which I prefer to his canon backstory) and I shall expand upon this further as this fanfiction continues. This fanfiction shall cover his life on Kalee and will continue right up to beyond his final stand on Utapau alongside his daughter, Zilku.

Disclaimer: This story is a work of fanfiction from my own imagination and uses characters, locations and storylines from the Star Wars comics, the Clone Wars TV series (2003 and 2008) and from Revenge of the Sith, all of which are trademarked by LucasArts and Disney. I do not own any of the characters in this story (excluding the ones I have created myself, such as Zilku and her grandmother, Nemka) nor do I own any of the storylines or locations (again, excluding the ones I create myself). They are all owned by George Lucas, Abel G. Peña, LucasArts and Disney. I would like to take the opportunity to thank these individuals and these companies for creating these characters and locations and I would especially like to thank Mr. Lucas in particular for creating this wonderful franchise as it has inspired me to create my story. This is intended for entertainment purposes only and is not part of the Star Wars franchise (both Canon and Legends). I would like to thank YouTube channel The Stupendous Wave, whose explanation of Grievous' backstory inspired this fanfiction (please check out this channel for anything Star Wars related). I am not making any money from this fanfiction and I do not intend to. I simply wish to share my love of this amazing sci-fi series with other Star Wars fans.

This story is rated K+ so far by may change as the story develops.

Chapter 1 – Qymaen and Ronderu

In the warm Kunbal Jungles of Kalee, a young Kaleesh warrior stalks his savage prey. He knew he was destined to hunt and kill a mumuu for it had been prophesied to him in his dreams, although his weapon of choice had confused him somewhat.

From eight years of age, he had been an expert in the Czerka outland rifle in battle and for hunting so for him to now dream himself, at twenty-two, using a Lig sword did not make much sense at all. He also felt he had missed something in the dream, like a forgotten memory. Grumbling to himself, the warrior quickly shook these thoughts from his head to concentrate on the hunt.

He quietly made his way through the jungle, listening for the growls of the beast and looking into the tree bark for any sign of scrapes from the mumuu's tusks. Suddenly, hearing a twig crack in the distance, he snatched his blade from it's place on his belt and leaped into the nearest tree in preparation for the creature he had been hunting.

After a while, the beast wandered into view, a massive aggressive creature with light brown fur covering its thick hide from muzzle to tail, it's huge pointed tusks capable of injuring any warrior foolish enough to fight carelessly.

Silently, the warrior waited until the mumuu was positioned in the perfect place for him to strike. Then, when he was sure the timing was perfect, he jumped from his position and lifted his sword above his head, ready to strike. Unfortunately for the warrior, the mumuu moved at the last second and the blade grazed the creature's curved back, leaving only a deep wound. The mumuu roared in pain and threw the young Kaleesh off of it's back, turning around to attack it's aggressor.

At that moment, the warrior began to nervously wonder if he had somehow misremembered his dream as he dodged the attacking mumuu, his sword just barely out of arms reach after being lost in the struggle. In his mind, he prayed to the gods themselves that there was some way this hunt could be turned back in his favour. As if somehow the gods had heard him, the warrior's prayers were answered. In a mixture of brown, blue and ivory cloth and the sounds of steel meeting bone tusk, another warrior had appeared as if by some form of magic and held back the beast with two Lig swords.

The first warrior stood there stunned for what felt like the longest moment before his new acquaintance spoke. "If you're finished standing there waiting for either one or both of us to be killed, I could use some help slaying this beast!" The newcomer said in a mixture of annoyance and anger. Coming to his senses, the warrior picked up his sword and stabbed the mumuu into one of it's hearts killing it instantly.

Relaxing a little after his ordeal, the warrior barely had time to grasp what had just happened when he was suddenly pushed to the ground with great force by his newfound comrade. "Are you insane?! Trying to slay a mumuu by jumping on top of it with a sword! Have you never hunted before?!" yelled his saviour, taking off her Karabbac mask. The warrior was insulted by the fact that this woman, who was the same age as him, give or take a year, had the nerve to ask if he was some imbecile who barely knew how to even hunt a beast to feed himself.

Dusting himself off, the warrior stood tall and yelled back "Be careful how you speak, swordswoman, for in my village I am considered a demi-god and I am more than capable of hunting such a savage creature!"

The swordswoman scoffed and replied sarcastically "I saw that when you were at the mercy of that creature just before I arrived to stop it killing you, o great one. Clearly you're as much of a master of the Lig sword as I am." At these words, the warrior realised the swordswoman was right but his pride would not allow him to admit defeat just yet. He gave a second attempt to win the argument. "You stole my destiny from me! I foresaw in a dream that I would be the one to slay a mumuu with just such a weapon." He shouted with indignation.

Suddenly, the young swordswoman laughed long and hard. The warrior shot her a confused look and demanded "What is so funny about completing one's destiny?" The woman calmed herself and replied "With the way you wield a sword, your destiny might as well have been to end up slaying a mumuu from inside it's stomach in pieces."

This really upset the young warrior as he said incredulously "I can hunt perfectly fine, I'm just more suited to a rifle." The woman held up her hands in mock-surrender and said "Fine, fine, whatever you say, o great demi-god." The warrior calmed at these words and then realised he had missed something in the dream. It had not only been him fighting the mumuu. There had been another warrior as well. "I did complete my destiny. It was you! You were the other warrior!" he said excitedly, realisation fully dawning on him now.

The swordswoman looked at her new companion in confusion and raised her swords defensively. "Look, I'm sorry if I've ruined your hunt. You don't have to make things up just to make either of us feel better." She said calmly. However, the young warrior continued on with his explanation. "No, you don't understand. I missed something in my dream. Another warrior came to help me slay the beast in my dream and we were both wielding Lig swords! You were that other warrior!" The swordswoman looked even more confused but lowered her guard and said "But how is that even possible? We've only just met." Finally calming down, the warrior also looked confused and said "I don't know. None of this dream makes sense. For as long as I can remember, I've only ever used an outland rifle so why would I suddenly use a Lig sword?"

The swordswoman put her swords behind her back, crossed her arms and rested her head in her hand in deep thought. After a minute or two, she suddenly had an idea and grabbed her companion's hand, leading him to the mumuu. "How far away is your village?" she asked suddenly. A little surprised by the sudden question, the warrior pointed behind him and said "About two miles, that way."

"Well then" said the swordswoman, "We'll simply take this mumuu back to your village, drop it off then while they get the meat and fur, you can claim the skull to use as your mask. After that, we'll visit your holy man and have our answer before dusk. Does that sound like a good plan to you?" "I suppose so." The warrior said cautiously. "Great!" said the swordswoman, "Right now onto introductions. I am Ronderu lij Kummar and you are?" Satisfied that he finally knew the name of his saviour, the warrior replied "I am Qymaen jai Sheelal."

Not exactly the best way to meet someone but at least they've met. I hope you have enjoyed reading about how Qymaen and Ronderu met for the first time. What will they discover when they visit the temple? Read Chapter 2 to find out more.

Once again, the characters, beasts or locations above do not belong to me. They belong to George Lucas, Abel G. Peña, LucasArts and Disney. They are not mine!

Thank you for reading and I hope you have enjoyed this chapter.
