Chapter 01: New Kids at School Part 1

Falling.

Sora is familiar with falling. It has been happening to the boy since he first received the keyblade.

Though, this time, it feels different. He would be scared, if it were not for the fact that he knows that his friends are safe.

The boy opens his eyes to see that he is descending towards a stain glass platform. A purple one depicting a skull with a pink bow on top. Surrounding the skull are images of three girls. The one above the skull is a green skinned girl with a stitch on her cheek, a pair of bolts in her neck, black and white hair, and a green eye and a blue one. The image on the bottom right is of a pink skinned girl with a heart shaped mark on her cheek, pink eyes, black hair with pink highlights, and noticeable fangs showing through her smile. The final image across from the pink girl is an almond skinned girl with amber eyes and long brown curly hair with dog ears poking through them.

Sora lands on the platform and looks around. Then he hears a voice.

One journey has ended.

A glowing circle appears in the center of the platform. A pedestal emerges from the circle with a large vanilla envelope floating above it.

But that doesn't mean the adventure has.

Sora approaches the pedestal and takes the envelope, and the pedestal vanishes. The keyblade wielder turns around to see a set of double wide doors.

Another world needs your help.

Go forth and may your heart be your guiding key.

Sora goes through the doors and finds himself on an empty street. Looking around to see a sign that says Maim Street. The stores had similar sayings, like a Die-ner or a Coffin Shop.

"It's like a more cheery Halloween Town," Sora notes.

The key bearer looks down at the envelope and reads 'Bloodgood'. He puts it in his pocket and starts walking down the street.

That is when Sora hears screaming. Out of reflex, the boy summons his keyblade and heads to the source of the scream.

Heading around the corner, Sora sees a green skin girl being surrounded by small shadowy creatures.

"Heartless!" Sora charges and with a single swoop destroys the Shadows. He dismisses his keyblade and turns to the girl he just saved. "Are you alright?" he reaches down to help her up.

"Thank you," she tells him as her hand popped off and fell back down.

"Woah!" Sora fell as well. He holds his hand up to see that the girl's hand is still holding onto his. It lets go and crawls back to the girl.

"Sorry," she picks up her hand and reattaches it back to her arm. "That happens sometimes," she gives him a nervous look.

Sora stares at her for a moment before exclaiming, "That's so cool!"

The girl just stares in shock for a moment. "You're not freaked out. From what I read, most normies would be."

Sora stands up and tilts his head and asks. "Normies? What are normies?"

"Oh, you know. Normies, normal people," the girl answers as she gets back up as well. "A human like you," and gestures to him. "Of course, I never heard of one swinging a giant vanishing key around."

The key bearer places his hands behind his head. "That's more of a me thing. And a few others that I know," he holds his hand out for a handshake, "I'm Sora."

The green girl looks at the offered hand and accepts it. "Frankie, Frankie Stein," she smiles at him. "You're not like most normies, are you?"

"Nope! I'm one of a kind," Sora boasts as he moves his hand away from her to bring it up to his chest. Only to look down to see that Frankie's hand is still holding onto his. He looks up to her sheepishly and extends his arm back out to Frankie. "Sorry."

Frankie takes her hand back. "Don't worry," and places it back on its stump. "Sometimes, I think it does it on purpose."

Sora takes a better look at the girl and notice the stitching on her face, black and white hair, and two different colored eyes. "Hey, Frankie. If you don't mind me asking, who and what are you?"

"Not at all," she waves him off. "I'm, well, I'm the Daughter of Frankenstein's Monster. My parents built me about two weeks ago. And as for exactly who I am. I'm not entirely sure. I am only thirteen days old," she jumps in place. "and today's my first day of school," she stops and quickly pulls out a small coffin like thing out of her purse and looks at it. "Oh, no! I'm going to be late for school, I'm supposed to meet with Headmistress Bloodgood," and takes off.

"Bloodgood?" Sora pulls out the envelope to read it and follows after. "Hey, Frankie!" and catches up to her. "I actually have a package for a Bloodgood."

"So, we're heading to the same place anyway?" Frankie asks and gets a nod from the boy. "This is great!"

Sora speeds up a bit. "Race ya!"

Frankie smiles a bit and picks up the pace as well.

.oOo.

"I win!" Sora cheered as he reaches the school fountain and catches his breath.

Frankie catches up and sits on the fountain, breathing heavily from exhaustion. "That was fun!" she tells him.

"Yeah," Sora sits next to her. "Me and my friends used to do it all the time back on the island. We'd race from one end of the beach to the other. Riku always won."

"Your friends sound great," Frankie had leaned forward at some point, watching the normie as he tells the story. "Wish I had friends like that."

"Well, you got one right here," and the boy flashes a goofy smile at her causing the ghoul to laugh.

"This is great!" the cadaver's bolts spark as she hugs him. "My first real friend. I can already tell that this year is going to be voltageous!"

"Ahem!" the sound of someone clearing their throat got the two to separate. The two teens turn to see a tall woman wearing a purple jacket with a horse standing beside her. "I am the Headmistress of this school. And who might you two be?"

Frankie jumps up to introduce herself. "I'm Frankie Stein. One of your new students here. I was supposed to meet you in your office."

The Headmistress looks at the ghoul, "Very well. Nightmare!" she turns to the horse. "Please take Ms. Stein to retrieve her schedule and textbooks," and turns back to Sora. "While I have a chat with…"

"The name's Sora," he introduces and holds his hand out. The woman only stares at the offered hand.

"With Sora."

Frankie went to follow the horse but turned back to holler at her new friend. "Bye, Sora! Hope we can see each other soon!"

"Bye, Frankie!" the boy waves back at her.

Sora suddenly finds the woman's head in front of his face. The head so happens to be sitting in her hands.

"Woah!" Sora shouts and the woman is taken back by the outburst. "You can remove your head, just like that? Cool!"

"You are an unusual normie," she places her head back on her shoulders. "Speaking of which. What is a normie doing on the Monster side of town?"

Sora reaches into his pocket. "You're Bloodgood? The Headmistress of this school, right?" and pulls out the envelope. He sees the woman nodding and hands over the envelope to her. "I wondered over here and found this. I think it's for you."

Bloodgood looks between the normie and the envelope before opening the package. She pulls out a set of papers and the edge of her mouth raised up a bit to show a glimmer of a smile. The woman grazes through the first page and turns to the next page and the smile fades. Her eyes now showing confusion as she skims through the other papers.

The Headmistress looks back up at the boy and tells him. "Follow me!"

.oOo.

Sora now finds himself sitting in a large office with the lady. The horse, Nightmare, came in and Bloodgood whispers into its ear, handed a note which it took in its mouth, and the horse takes off again. Soon, the office door bursts open and a large rotund man wearing a sack over the top half of his face came in followed by a tall lean dark green skin man with a large coat.

"Oi, Bloodgood!" the large man shouts. "What are ye' doing calling me from class? I have some students to fail."

"And I haven't even started lesson's yet," the green man tells her.

Then, a third voice came out of nowhere. "I was preparing auditions for our first play," a man wearing an overcoat, fedora, sunglasses, and bandages covering his entire face appears in front of Sora, startling the boy causing him to fall out of his chair. "Apologies, my boy," he tells the boy as he attempts at helping him up.

The bag man picks the boy up. "An' what's with the normie?" and drops Sora back in the chair.

Bloodgood addresses the three men. "Mr. Hack, Mr. Rotter, Mr. Where. We are in the presence of a Keyblade Wielder."

The three men stare at the boy and Mr. Hack is the one to speak. "The Runt?" and Bloodgood confirms.

Mr. Rotter turns to the woman. "How can you be sure?"

Bloodgood holds up the papers from the envelope, "A message from an old friend," and she starts passing them around.

Mr. Hack's eyes widen as he reads it. "Blimey! We haven't heard from this bloke in ages." Mr. Hack holds the papers away from him as Rotter is trying to get a good look at them. That is when the papers fly out of their hands and Mr. Where reappears reading the papers.

That is when Sora speaks up. "How do you know about the Keyblade?"

The adults in the room turn to the boy. Bloodgood sighs as she removes her head and sets on the desk. "Our world was visited by one a long time ago and saved us from the Darkness. He stayed with us for a while, but he felt a calling. One that told him that the Darkness that's coming, our world wouldn't survived."

"What happened?" Sora leans on the edge of his seat.

"We said our goodbyes," the woman tells him. "The only way he knew how to make sure our world remains was to not only seal the keyhole to our world but to also hide it and then lock the Darkness away. By sealing our world completely. From the outside."

Rotter stepped up, "We didn't think we'd ever get another visitor again," and turns to the boy. "Which begs the question as to how you got here?"

Sora shrugs. "I remember falling and then I found that envelope and walked through a set of doors."

That is when Mr. Where speaks up. "Now, this is peculiar?" he hands over one of the pages back to Bloodgood. "Is this an enrollment form for the boy?"

Hack, Rotter, and Sora all shout, "What!?"

Bloodgood nods in confirmation. "Indeed, it is."

Mr. Hack approaches the desk, "Headmistress Bloodgood, with all due respect but you can't be serious."

"Everything is there and filled out," she tells them as she preps a cup of tea. "Even a housing is set for him," Bloodgood looks to the boy as her body lifts her head up to place it back on its shoulders. "Whether you like it or not, Sora is a student here at Monster High," and she drinks her tea.

Sora jumps out of his seat. "Really? That's awesome! It'll be nice to go back to school."

"You haven't been to school?" Bloodgood asks.

"Not really. At least not for a while," the boy sits back down and crosses his arms. "Kinda hard to go to school when you're busy saving every world out there," he explains. "And while I'm here I can take care of the Heartless."

Bloodgood chokes on her tea. "Heartless!?" she stares at the boy.

"Well, yeah," he nods. "There was some around Main, I mean Maim Street. You can just ask Frankie."

Rotter thought for a moment. "It seems that it could be useful to have this young man to attend class here," he then glares at the boy. "That doesn't mean I'll go easy on him."

The stare caused Sora to shrink in his seat. He has fought Heartless, Nobodies, Dream Eaters, and even Unversed. But something in that teacher's eyes scared the boy.

Just then the doors open and in walks a light blue scaled girl with blonde hair with blue highlights and wearing a wetsuit like clothing. "You asked for me, Headmistress Bloodgood," she had a thick accent.

"Lagoona Blue, come in," the Headmistress tells her. The ghoul does and stops for a moment when she sees Sora. Bloodgood sees this and gestures to the boy. "Lagoona, this is Sora. An exchange student from out of town."

The Sea Monster turns to the Headmistress. "A normie exchange student?" she is obviously skeptical about that. "Shouldn't he have been transferred to the school on the human side of town?"

Bloodgood's eyes widen as she tried to figure a way around this.

"Yeah!" Sora speaks as he stands up. "What we think happened is that, is that my transfer papers were sent here by mistake, and so, uh I have to attend here instead," he explains as he gives her a goofy smile.

"Blimey!" Lagoona exclaims. "I guess you must be bummed about that, mate?"

Sora shakes his head. "Not really. I haven't seen very much of Monster High but so far, everything looks so cool! Especially the monsters," he goes up to her. "What are you anyway? I met the one girl that is covered in stitches and her arm can just pop off and when she's excited, there are these bolts in her neck that sparks. Not to mention Bloodgood who can remove her head with ease, and—"

Lagoona holds her hands up, "Whoa, whoa! Settle down, mate. Word of advice, it's rude to ask a ghoul what kind of monster she is."

"Oh! Sorry," Sora apologizes.

"Don't worry about it," the fish ghoul smiles at him. "I'm a sea monster from down under. Straight from the Great Scarier Reef," and answers his question.

"I don't know where that is, but it sounds cool!" Sora shouts causing the ghoul to giggle at his enthusiasm.

Bloodgood clears her throat. "Lagoona. I've called you here as a representative of our school. I want you to take the day off from classes to show Sora around the school. It would not look very good for monsterkind if we lost a human student on the first day of school."

"Very well, Headmistress Bloodgood," she politely nods to her and turns to Sora. "So, what do you want to see, mate?"

"Everything!" he tells her as they head out of office.

Mr. Rotter rubs his chin, "His subtlety is non-existent."

Hack agreed, "But the runt gets at least a B minus in quick thinking."

Mr. Where appears between them. "He's obviously been doing this for a long time."

Bloodgood sighs. "To think that such a responsibility was placed on one at a young age."

The three teachers left the office to continue their duties. Bloodgood reaches into a drawer in her desk just as Nightmare walks in. She pulls out the letter she didn't show the other teachers and starts reading it again. Nightmare sees it and lets out a neigh.

"Yes, Nightmare," she tells the horse. "It really is nice to know he never forgot about me," her smile returns.

.oOo.

Sora was shown so much of Monster High. The classrooms, the gymnasium, even the Creepateria sometime after lunch let out. It was decided that it was probably best to avoid some of the other students for the time being since many are uneasy around normies.

The Normie now stands beside a pool waiting for Lagoona.

The Sea Monster walks out of the locker room wearing a pink one-piece swimsuit. "Thanks for waiting, Sora."

He smiles at her, "No problem."

The ghoul sits on the edge. "This is my free period and I usually swim at this time to keep me skin moisten. Lotion only does so much."

Sora scratches his head. "I guess that makes sense."

"I'll be back in a moment," she then dives into the water.

Sora walks over to the bleachers to sit and wait. Then, the doors come flying open as a lime-green ghoul in some sort of black and pink cheerleading outfit rushes in. It's Frankie. The ghoul stops beside the pool and cries.

Out of instinct, the key bearer runs to the ghoul. "Frankie!" he calls out. She looks up to see the normie.

"Sora?" she sniffles. "I thought you would have been gone by now."

"I thought I'd take a tour of the school. With Bloodgood's permission of course," he lowers himself next to her. "I'm guessing it wasn't the best first day."

"You have no idea!"

"Don't worry, Frankie. I'm sure it will get better."

"How can you possibly know that?" she sobs.

"He may not," Lagoons swims up to them and hands a handkerchief to Frankie. "But I do."

"Frankie, this is Lagoona and Lagoona, this my friend Frankie," Sora introduces them. "She's an exchange student from down under."

"Down under the sea that is," the fish ghoul laughs at her own joke. "I know what it's like to be the new fish in the pond."

"I've put in every spark of energy I had, but I totally fell apart. I wish I could take this whole day back and start over. I tried so hard."

"That's your problem," Sora speaks up. "Trying to do something too hard only makes these things harder than it really is. It's much like making friends. You can't force it upon someone. It happens naturally."

"He's right, dear. Don't drongo, be yourself and you'll be spot on," Lagoona gives Frankie a thumbs up as she returns it. Only for the sea ghoul to be pulled under water.

"Lagoona!" the cadaver and normie shout. Sora summons his keyblade and dives into the pool. The boy sees that Lagoona's ankle is being grabbed by a humanoid fish-like Heartless with spears made of fish bones. He twirls his keyblade to propels himself forward. Two more Spear Lizards swim in front of the boy. Sora swings his keyblade at one of them, but it manages to dodge.

The one that has a hold of Lagoona's leg brings up its spear to strike the ghoul. Luckily, Lagoona manages to use her free leg to kick the heartless. The sea monster starts swimming to the surface. But her former captor pursues her. Sora blocks a strike from one and forces it back. He quickly turns to the one pursuing Lagoona and shoots magic at the Heartless, causing it to disintegrate. He turns to face the last Heartless only to see it gone. Looking up, the Keyblade wielder sees his missing opponent about to breach the surface.

Lagoona breaks through the water and Frankie grabs her hand to hoist the sea monster out of the water. The ghoul takes a breather as the Spear Lizard bursts out of the water; spear pointing downwards. Just as it is about to strike them, Sora charges out of the water. With a single swoop the heartless disappears and the boy lands in front of the ghouls, swings his keyblade around and lets it rest on his shoulder.

"Crickey!" Lagoona exclaims. "What were those creatures?"

Sora dismisses his keyblade. "Those were Heartless."

"Are they the same as the ones that attacked me earlier?" Frankie asks and Sora nods. "What do they want?"

"They're attracted to strong hearts. More specifically, the light in those hearts."

Frankie reaches a hand up to her chest. "Why do they want our hearts?"

"Because they have none. And if they manage to steal yours, you'll become one of them and there's almost no coming back from it."

"Crickey!" Lagoona exclaims as Frankie gasps.

"The fact that both of you were targeted speaks greatly of the Light in your Hearts," Sora smiles at them. "You're good people, Frankie, Lagoona," Frankie's bolts sparked for a moment. "You two should be safe for now. But if you have anymore trouble, I'll gladly come and help you."

"Perhaps we could exchange numbers," the cadaver suggests. "That way if I see any of those things again, I can call you."

Sora smiles at that idea as he reaches into his pockets. Only to realize something. "Oh man!" he pats himself down. "I've lost my Gummi Phone," and slumps.

"Oh," Frankie seemed disappointed by that. "Well, perhaps we can meet up sometime this weekend? Just to hangout."

"Sure thing."

The Cadaver claps her hands together. "Let's meet up where we first met."

"I'll be there."

Frankie hugs the normie. "Thanks, Sora. For everything," she breaks away from him and turns to the sea monster. "And thank you as well, Lagoona," the ghoul then leaves the pool room.

Lagoona turns to the normie. "Why didn't you just tell her that you'll be here tomorrow, mate?"

Sora gives the sea monster his usual goofy smile.

End

Note: I know that New Ghoul at School takes place over the course of a week, but I'm changing a few things for time constraint. That and I'm not sure if I can fill everything out for each day. I'll probably do that for other big event stories from the MH cartoons and specials. The overall stories will remain the same and I'm not going to just sideline Sora for a majority of it like what was done for certain Disney Worlds in KH3.
