Chapter 1: Sass and Launchpads.

Remnant, a world of Heroes stories and legends which were one true and historical, now fragmented into fairy tales of days long since gone. With no major power, the human race resorts to an elemental power known as dust, to fight the creatures of Grimm, which hold no souls and no light. With the mastery of dust and it's powers, the lives of Remnant managed to thrive, living in a society and world that is determined to protect others from the creatures of Grimm.

In the present era of the human race and Remnant, five young souls are yet to have their own story written and told as they go about the lives of which they forged. Red, White, Black, Yellow, and Azure. These are the colors of team RWBYA, and this is their story.

She could NOT believe it! She had stepped foot here and slept here, and STILL, she could not believe it! She was in Beacon Academy, alongside her older half-sister, Yang Xio Long, her introverted yet still her second new friend, Blake Belladonna, and... Oh... Her. That spoiled rich brat with the White hair, Weiss Schnee. Dang! She seriously is lucky to have such patience, otherwise, Weiss might be smacked by her. Even so, the tension, excitement, and anticipation is in the air as Ruby Rose begins to brush her teeth and get all of her clothes out to be dressed.

"THUDD!"

"Hey! Watch it you dolt!"

"Watch it yourself, you dingus!"

Ruby glanced over and saw Weiss in a scowling match with a 17-year-old boy with ice-blue eyes, short choppy black hair with blue highlights, who was wearing a long blue coat with black combat boots, fingerless gauntlets with dust bands over them, and a v-neck collared blue tee shirt with black pants. She didn't know why, but she found the next interaction between them amusing.

"How DARE you collide with ME, the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company!"

"Oh yeah? Heiress, huh? I thought you were just a want-to-be princess, you dingus! Considering you were being careless and vain!"

"Excuse me?! Is that how you treat your superior?"

"No. But considering my status in this school, you're NOT my superior! Even more so that we're NOT in Atlas! Your heiress position means NOTHING here except to be something to brag about. So, scuttle off and be on your way, before your voice hurts my ears!"

Dumbfounded and appalled at the undeniable logic of NOT being in Atlas, Weiss wisely did, leaving Ruby in stitches. He soon rolled his eyes and walked away, with the tablet scroll in his hand.

As the boy left, Weiss decided to bug Ruby, Yang, and Blake with her complaints.

"Ugh! The NERVE of that boy in the blue coat! How DARE he insult me!" Yang and Blake looked on with raised eyebrows.

"What boy?" They asked in blunt unison as Ruby answered them.

"Oh! Just a random boy with blue eyes, short choppy black hair that had blue highlights and apparently a sass that shut Weiss up. It was ACTUALLY very funny." Blake and Yang began to snigger at this while Weiss huffed indignantly.

"Ugh! You three are so unruly and childish! That's it! I'm NOT speaking to ANY of you again after initiation!" With a huff and a spin on her heels, Weiss walked away from Ruby, Yang, and Blake.

Sometime later, on the cliff of the Emerald Forest, all first years of Beacon Academy arrived there awaiting for Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch to arrive. As they all waited, Weiss began to glare as she saw HIM.

"You!" She cried out to the boy who shut her up earlier. "Just because you're correct on me NOT being your superior, doesn't mean you can skip the initiation trials!"

The boy only sniggered at Weiss's remark, as Blake and Yang soon saw him.

"Whoa! Is that him little sis? Dang! he's actually a good looking guy!"

"Not to mention full of steel guts." Blake added, "He's not letting Weiss get to him at all." That fact was obvious enough to Weiss, which only angered her more.

"I swear! If you DON'T get on a launch pad right now, I WILL report to Ozpin."

"You just did, dingus." The boy replied with a smirk as both Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch arrived and heard EVERYTHING. They couldn't help but chuckle as they rolled their eyes.

"I suppose I should've expected such an attitude from you, Weiss Schnee. Especially considering that in more ways than one, my ward and you are too much alike." Weiss blinked in surprise at Ozpin's words.

"Ward?"

"Yes." Ozpin replied with a smile, "Aoihi Moeurhi here is my ward, and has actually been training under Beacon's resources and tutelage since the age of 13." Weiss and the other first years widened their eyes at this.

"It's true." Aoihi stated with a smug and confident grin. "I have been through EVERY piece of material that Beacon has to offer and I know of EVERYTHING that you first years would go through. I also have access to more materials and books than most of you. Now while I may NOT be a teacher, I am still to be considered higher than an upperclassmen here, so don't be too surprised when I help Ozpin with any tests and trials he makes for the initiation." Weiss scowled in fury.

"Oh! You expect ME to respect you all because your the principal's pet?! You really are..." She couldn't finish her sentence, for Aoihi had caused Weiss's pad to launch her early. The students looked on at Aoihi with surprise and shock as he only held a smirk of satisfaction.

"He's one inch shorter than me and I'm already intimidated by him!" Jaune remarked with a whimper, as Aoihi only held his grin more.

"You got that right, blonde boy, so I advise you to suck it up, and listen closely to Glynda and Ozpin now, or you'll be in big trouble."

Jaune just stood there, looking all the more terrified as Ozpin and Glynda held proud and amused smirks at Aoihi's warning to him. Yeah, the boy in blue is being a bit of a jerk right now, but the respect he had for them is not even ceasing once. As this was going on, Blake had a smug grin as she then whispered to Ruby and Yang.

"You know, those two remind me of a fairy tale I once read. One of a princess of ice and a prince of blue flames who fought each other at the start of it." Yang and Ruby sniggered at Blake's analogy of Aoihi and Weiss.

"Ooh! That sounds interesting!" Yang remarked with honest interest.

"I don't think we heard that one during childhood." Added Ruby.

"Not surprised," Blake replied. "It's a very old and very scarce fairytale. I can show you both the book once we're through with this."

The other two girls nodded in acknowledgment as Ozpin now began to speak to everyone who was still on the launchpad.

"For years you have trained to become warriors and as of today, your skills will be evaluated here in the emerald forest." He then glanced at Aoihi to provide his side of the explanation.

"As Ozpin's ward, I have trained extensively under the tutelage of the Beacon staff and fought many powerful Grimm all alone just to get to where I am at today. To further test you and challenge you all, I set traps up in the Emerald forest to further up the stakes. So be wary, and learn to not just watch, but listen closely. For if you forget to rely on your senses, it could mean your doom." Aoihi then nodded to Glynda to notify her of her turn to speak.

"Now, I'm sure that many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. So also us to put an end to your confusion, each of you will be given teammates, TODAY."

Ruby whimpered at this as she was hoping to fight alone. However catching this, Aoihi spoke sternly to her.

"Look! If you want to be like me and fight alone, here's a heads-up! It's NOT as easy as it looks! When I first arrived I could barely take down a beowolf without the assistance of Ozpin or Glynda. So heed my words! Accept the fact that you must fight with a team for your own safety, or die from stupidity and arrogance."

Ruby flinched at Aoihi's words. While they were blunt and harsh, they did show a genuine amount of wisdom, which she couldn't help but respect. Smiling at his ward's wisdom, Ozpin then spoke next explaining more.

"With the harsh truth that Aoihi mentioned, it should be noted that these teammates of yours will be with you for the rest of your time at Beacon. So to be paired with someone who you can work well with is highly recommended. Something of which that Aoihi had no luck in, for in the past, anyone who he tried to team up with had some serious issues that made him uncomfortable with them. Regardless, the rules of team creation will not be as lenient as it was for Aoihi. The first person who you make eye contact with in the field is your partner for the next four years."

This made Ruby gasp in surprise and shock, as she realized at how strict the partnership in Beacon is.

"Dang! That's strict." The girl remarked in her thoughts as Ozpin continued.

"Now, once you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. Along with the traps that Aoihi had set up, you WILL meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die."

Jaune gulped nervously at that notion as Ozpin continued to explain.

"You will be monitored and graded during your Initiation, however, none of our instructors and neither Aoihi will intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path, containing several relics. Each pair must choose one, and return to the top of the cliff. We will guard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

Jaune soon raised his hand.

"Yeah, umm… sir…"

"Good! Now take your positions!" Ozpin stated with a grin, as Jaune was being oblivious to the launch pads launching the other first years into the air.

"Sir? I got a question. So this landing strategy thing, what is it?"

Ozpin was about to reply when Aoihi spoke instead with a cold smirk.

"Remember when I launched that girl, blonde boy?"

"Uh… yes?"

"THAT is what is going to happen to get you into the forest."

"So… we will be launched into it?!" Jaune exclaimed in alarm.

"Yup."

"But don't we get parachutes or something?!"

"No. A landing strategy is LITERALLY your own personal strategy on how you're going to land safely when falling from the air, dingus. It is something you do on the FLY, you could say."

"HA!" Yang sounded with amusement. "Nice one!" She was then launched into the air, grinning at Aoihi's pun. Ruby was soon launched into the air as well, before Jaune was sent flying and screaming. Ozpin and Glynda watched with interest as Aoihi held his smirk.

"Hmm… very informative summary of a landing strategy, Aoihi." Ozpin remarked to his ward before taking another sip of his coffee.

"Thank you, Ozpin." Aoihi replied with a smile as began to watch the initiation with him and Glynda. The year's initiation had begun.

A/N: To just clear things up, Aoihi Moeruhi is made by me and belongs to me. And before anyone asks, RWBYA is a somewhat retelling of RWBY, but with my own spin on things and changes here and there.
